Despite the other review this place is great (please look for under the real yelp name). 1st OH NO they made her clean her hands before handling anything. Sorry but that is HARDLY a call for a negative review. Second I highly doubt the jewelry was unclean. My partner and I have spent over 2,000 on piercings and scarification with them alone and I have NEVER had them do anything but take the greatest care in cleaning. Most of the pieces are cleaned when they first come in, never get touched, and then cleaned quickly before they are bought. It was clean she is just bitchy. Also I am on a good basis with everyone that works there the only people they are rude to are people who are rude to them. Basically everything in the other review I call bullshit on. They are great for piercings and such and have some talented tattoo artists (though I do get my tattoos else where). Vern makes AMAZING custom pieces and everyone is really nice. read more

The reason I go to Ascension is because of Boy, he is a very talented tattoo artist and I would not want to be tattooed by anyone else. The place is very clean, smells nice and has a very welcoming environment. I love the new fish tank and how the place is arranged. I especially love the art in Boy's room. My boyfriend has had five tattoos done by different artists there, they are as beautiful as can be. I've received one tattoo and my best friend got her septum pierced there. They are always clean with setting up before piercing or tattooing. All of their things are nicely organized and again very clean. I only trust my piercing, body modification and suspension to Ascension! Steve and Vern are the only 2 men who have the knowledge, experience and my trust. I know they are clean and sterile and keep up to date with their certifications. I have been tattooed many times by John Pricer. He is wonderful! Unlike many tattoo artists in Albuquerque, he is polite, respectful and NOT a pervert. The tattoos I have by John required my top to be exposed because of where the tattoo is placed. He left the room for me to get undressed and dressed. I wouldn't go any other place to get tattooed or pierced. I trust the knowledge and experience of these guys! read more

Ascension is by far one of the best tattoo studios in NM. The shop is always clean, someone takes care of you as soon as you walk in, and, of course, the tattoos are absolutely fantastic. Boy has even set up a calendar on his phone, so he will actually remember your appointment! I had my tragus pierced at Ascension as well; it healed beautifully with absolutely no sign of infection. They sterilize ALL of their equipment, tattoo, piercing or otherwise. Overall- friendly people, amazing artwork, fair prices, kick-ass jewelry, and every once in a while, they hang people from hooks on the tree outside. What more could you freaking want? read more

I would be skeptical of any negative reviews posted here on or after 6/13/13 regarding Ascension Body Mod. Several people have been asked by a former employee to post negative comments in an attempt to boycott the establishment for personal gain. This is a place for people to share their experiences truthfully with the community for a greater good, not a place to slander on the behalf of temperamental former employees that have nothing better to do. Not only are the people here amazing, but the shop is too. The jewelry here is beautiful and last a life time. I've had my belly pierced for four years now and the jewelry hasn't faded or fallen out. LOVE IT! Steve has done all my piercing for me and not once have i had a problem with them. Got a beautiful american traditional tat from Sam Castro. Very very we'll done she's amazing. My girlfriend got a tattoo from Boy and also very incredible work.
