My hair was nothing like my inspiration photo which was a cool mocha brown and left with a beige color. Asked Ashley to fix the color to match my inspiration photo she suggested a toner and I informed it would need more then a toner, lowlights were needed she said could do color. When I arrived at my schedule appointment time of which I was 10 minutes early she informed me she was going to do a was and blowout for a client which was at my appointment time and would only be 15 minutes. I now had to wait which I waited 20 minutes. Then she kept saying I want all over color when I explained two times my photo had highlights and if she could just pull out current hair and do lowlights and had her look at photo. She just said you want all over color, come on I will do at the bowl. She only applied a toner. I originally paid $484 doesn't include the tip. This includes the recommended signature color which was a lighten service, extra product, cut, roots. Which my roots were not completely covered. There's a 2.9% fee added when you use a credit card. I was completely ripped off and the owner tried to publicly make me out to be a liar on Google reviews of my experience. She claimed I asked for unachievable results in one appointment, that I asked for a color I did not ask for, and that I was explained to thoroughly all of these things in a consultation (which was not true). What actually happened was I was a brunette, asking for some subtle bronde highlights which my stylist said was not an issue to have done that day in the time frame of my appointment. This was also something that should've been, by any experienced stylist, a very easy task to achieve in one 2-3 hour appointment. Instead, my appointment took nearly 4 hours, my head was highlighted all over to a caramel/brassy color, my dark color I had asked to keep was stripped completely, and I was left with a $350 bill. When I reached out to explain I could NOT come back in to get it fixed due to being due any day with our fourth baby and asking for a partial compensation at the minimum so I could get it fixed elsewhere, I was refused. The customer is not always right here and you could have your hair turned green and be told you have to keep coming in to get it fixed because the owner will not stand by doing their work in an honest and right way. Very disappointing experience. Friends and family have seen my hair and been shocked of how it is the complete opposite result of what I asked for. Hopefully I can get it fixed after having our baby but so disappointing that a hair day that was supposed to be a treat before having a baby turned into a nightmare experience. read more

This review has been coming for weeks now. I needed to let my hair heal before getting it fixed somewhere else to make a point. BEWARE of the Balayage LOL for real ... ask to see work done by your particular stylist BEFORE you let them touch your head. Most of the staff are very young and seem inexperienced. I should've listened to the other reviewers who said this is a place best suited for very young women/girls ... it feels like shopping at Forever 21 as an adult. They have super young stylists and that's fine just know youth and inexperience go hand-in-hand. Mistakes happen and they suck but if handled correctly it's no big deal. What should never happen is poor customer service from the owner. When you mess up don't make excuses just make it right and learn. It's really that simple. Do the right thing. Give people their money back if you agreed to provide them with a result that you weren't able to come even close to producing. Especially when you were given two chances to get it right. That would be the mature way to remedy the situation but again ... youth is their Achilles heel. In a nutshell ... all I wanted was some foil highlights that looked natural ... instead I was told it'd only work with the more expensive balayage technique so I agreed. $260, two trips, and two stylists later ... I ended up with the worst hair of my entire life. Morgan is one of their young stylists and despite her efforts produced a warm reddish blonde one dimensional look that didn't resemble what I asked for or a balayage at all (see picture 2). After emailing the owner, Ashley, asking for a refund of half of the payment amount so I could go get it done by someone I trust she asked me to let her try to fix it. I agreed and I would've been better off sticking with Morgan's work, honestly. Ashley got two blonde money pieces framing my face but the rest looked awful, especially the back of my head which looked very red and within 3 weeks I looked like a splotchy calico cat (see pictures 3-5). Dirty copper penny isn't a shade of blonde ... just saying. If you go there I hope your experience is better than mine. I know that Bern does beautiful work. While the stylist, Morgan, was very pleasant and eager to please, the rest of the experience is lackluster. Morgan lacks experience and was not able to do an undercut without enlisting the help of a co-worker. The salon itself is poorly equipped or, if the stylists must supple their own tools and products, that also is a problem. My stylist did not have her preferred curling wand size. The reviews on Ash and Gold's website read as though they were written by the same 1 or 2 people. One more note- unless you're under 22, don't expect to go and have a relaxing experience. Poor customer service and customer advocacy, unprofessional and greedy. I was a customer at ASH & GOLD for over a year, and spoke on the phone with the owner Ashley about how my hair did not turn out how I requested, and how I got my root melt/highlights done in the past with the stylist Bernadette. This was the first time I had an issue at the salon. A root melt was not performed on my hair (as per my request), and my roots looked terrible after 3-4 weeks post appointment. Ashley, the, business owner was not hearing what I was explaining and kept pushing another paid appointment while I expressed how dissatisfied I was with my hair and felt it was unfair to charge again. Following my phone call with Ashley, I received a legal disclosure threatening that I will not be covered legally if my hair is damaged or personal injury occurs. Oh my. The legal disclosure covers ASH & GOLD's business but not the safety or satisfaction of ANY client. In other words, Ashley and the salon do not advocate for a dissatisfied customer and want to rip customers off, even if their hair wasn't fixed or it got damaged. Buyers Beware. "Customers are usually right" when they have an issue. The owner and stylist should work to satisfy a customer who spent $300 monthly average at their business. I sent pictures of my hair, which clearly showed a very harsh root line after a few weeks. Having to pay again, and sign legal disclosures does not come across well and I will be taking my business elsewhere. The salon also sneaks in a "shine treatment" to charge more at the end of your appointment. This situation could have easily been resolved if the owner listened to a dissatisfied customer, and handled it professionally and fairly. advertised as a experienced salon specializing in bayalage i booked a appointment for 12 pm on 3/17 for my hair to be colored from its current state to blonde, my hair was blonde had fashion colors in that needed to be removed . 40 min after my appointment time my stylist is finally ready to begin with me . With the cancellation policy being that you will be charged for half the service booked if canceled less than 24hrs prior , I arrived early to my appointment so I find this very frustrating from the start, I explained I understood if the hair needed to be a bit of a darker blonde look than what I was wanting due to the fashion colors, was asked if I considered brown , absolutely not I want to leave with blonde hair so when my natural blonde grows in it looks appropriate . 3 hours later my hair Was done as a " rooted" look, which is very dark brown all through my hair with blonde ends. BEWARE. I booked a brand new hair straightening service with the salon as soon as they advertised it on IG. After doing my hair my stylist asked me to keep her up to date as the service was new (I was the first person to receive the straightening service). After washing my hair I sent a picture to the salon asking for a refund ($375) because it did not work my hair was still very curly. The owner reached out and stated she wanted to fix it for me and if I could come in and have the rep redo it and the salon girls watch for training purposes. So, being patient I did so. It didn't work again for a second time because the salon did not have the proper equipment needed. I again reached back out and just asked for a refund the owner asked again if she could reach out to now the global rep to see what was wrong. I hadn't heard back in two weeks so I reached out and let her know that I just wanted a refund for this expensive service that wasn't working. The owner stated that the rep advised her I had "build up" on my hair and that if I wanted to do it a third time she would but she would NOT be refunding me. Little did she know I had already been in touch with the rep and global rep who both confirmed that the salon did not do the service correctly because they did not have an air dryer. The rep directed me to another salon that offered the service who once I explained my situation was mortified ash and gold wouldn't refund me. The salon did my hair correctly and wouldn't let me pay until she knew it worked. Even the rep came out to check. I've wasted almost $900 trying to correct what ash and gold did not properly do. They have zero accountability for their lack of education and should have never offered a service they never tried not even on their own employees first before offering to clients. They were in more of a rush to be the "first" to have it rather than giving good quality results. Not to mention the owner refusing to give me a refund NO where on their website under policies does it state that they do not give refunds. I will never return to this salon for such horrible unprofessionalism. read more
