This is a terrible place that should not be in business. I have never had this type of terrible haircut ever in my life. The hair was cut straight without any transition for long hair. the front and back did not connect. I had to go to other place to fix it and the hair stylist from other store was shocked about how terrible the haircut was. Additionally, the service has been terrible about payment and refund. The person answering the phone lied about the situation and discriminated customer even after receiving pictures for clear proof. He also mentioned that they would not process refund and asked the customer to go to court for a terrible haircut that could be resolved by processing refund. Honestly, I have never requested refund in any other hair salons before. This place was too bad to be in a mall like Tysons and I couldn't believe that they charged $65+tips. Got hair curled for an event. Simple styling - no wash, no cut. Before styling, zero heat protectant product was put on my hair. Strike one. Halfway through the appointment, the stylist burned my forehead with the curling iron. Accidents happen, but this type of thing shouldn't happen when you pay a professional. Big, fat strike two. Impromptu hair salon visit that turned into an over 5 hr horrible experience. Went in asking for highlights and lowlights, then got talked into a haircut. I truly wish I could post pics of the horrendous $75 "haircut" he talked me into. Then put some kind of "free" treatment on my hair (pretty sure it was toner because I sat with the foils too long) for 45 min!!! Proceeded to cut 1.5 in. off my bangs after I told him I had been letting them grow back for over a year!!! Needless to say, I called the salon the next evening to express my dissatisfaction with my hair and nobody even answered the phone at the salon...had to leave a message, but NOBODY bothered calling this unhappy customer back!!! I'm a business owner and customer service is of the utmost importance and held in the highest regard. Anyway, I digress. Living 3 hrs away, I didn't expect to go back but had to take a friend to the airport. So, I went in to see if he could fix my bangs but he wasn't in, yet. His co-worker was kind enough to get him on the phone and he said no problem, he would fix. He said he had an appt at 12:30 and would take about 1/2 hr and he would call me afterwards. Never did. So I went to the salon, and he acknowledged me and said he would be with me in a few minutes but went onto to next customer. I waited approx 20 min. then I left. I paid $365 with a $35 tip and it's honestly the worst, most expensive haircut/highlights I've EVER had in my life and my hair ended up darker than when I went in...he didn't listen to what I was asking!!!! Ash Salon & Spa is a gem in the Tyson's Corner Center. It is conveniently located on the second floor near Old Navy and just above Barnes & Noble and La Sandia. The salon is upscale and definitely the epitome of what you would expect from Tysons. Best of all, the prices are very reasonable. The staff is incredibly friendly and you will right at home as soon as you walk in. As of yet I have only had my hair done here. I do plan to get a few spa treatments done in the future. To start the shampoo stations are amazing. They have special massage chairs that make it a top notch experience. I also can't forget the great hair wash and head massage from the wonderful staff that literally made me fall asleep (it is seriously that awesome). I do have to admit the best part of coming here is for my stylist Linh. She has been doing my hair for a few years and my boyfriend's for several. She is skilled in both men and women's hair and continues to keep up with current styles and trends. She does a fantastic job of listening to your needs, however will also inform you of what will work with your hair type, face shape, etc. Unlike many other stylists, she will not give you unrealistic hair expectations. Well... a friend of mine who had a very beautiful hair went to this place a couple of days ago to cut an inch on her hair (just the damage part) and do layers if it's possible!! They did the worst job ever! I mean, I could do a better job who has no idea how to cut hair. I so wanted to love this place since I just moved to the area! So many things went wrong though! My appointment was for 2p.m, was 2:50 when they finally took me even though there was a stylist not doing anything. When I see a Groupon I usually prefer to pay the place directly as a courtesy, since I know Groupon takes a huge chunk out. I mentioned the groupon which was for $89 bayalage, olaplex, cut & style. The lady said ok she will give the groupon discount. Decent experience, the 2 stars is because I did like the color. Then as she is towel drying my hair mentions that a haircut is $70 extra.. i was like ok I guess I don't need haircut.. then she starts to blowdry then asked me if I wanted it blown out.. and that if so it would be an additional $65..! I was like, confused thinking maybe she thought I wanted a flat iron maybe? But like was she expecting me to walk out with wet hair?? Per the photos, I walked out with wet hair! She blew out a bit on the front n turned off blow dryer and went to the register.. i was absolutely shocked, have had my hair done all over the world and have NEVER EVER walked out with wet hair!!! Ok so the cherry on top is the fact that despite saying I would get the groupon discount I got charged $150!! Absolute scam, rip off, my hair is not long or thick and was still freaking wet!!! When I called to make an appointment they gave me the option to choose who I wanted as a stylist, and since I had never been to this Hair Salon before, I randomly asked for Ash. When I got to my appointment, to my surprise, they had another Stylist by the name of Dalal working on my Hair and not, Ash. After examining my hair she said that I need to "pay a little bit more" because of the lengthof my hair. No problem, I've had this similar situation before and I paid an extra $20 to $30 at several other Hair Salons. Unfortunately, this is not what happened....the " little extra " ended up being $95 which was way over my budget. I wouldn't have purchased a Groupon if I had known I would end up paying full price in the end. Needless to say, they have lost a potential repeat customer with that sneaky move. This was my fifth and last visit to this salon. My previous experiences with this salon were fine. Today, i walked in around 6:30pm for a deep conditioning treatment and a quick trim to cut off dead ends. The receptionist said the my usual hairdresser is finishing up with his last client and that it'd be a short wait. I did not make an appointment just like previous times. Indeed, very shortly, he came to greet me and informed me that he's available and quickly washed my hair and sat me under the heater in no time. The timer on the heater beeped about 20 mins later. He came and added another round of 20 mins. Once the second round was done, i sat there and waited more. While i was under the heater waiting, he took two clients (washed and cut) and sent them out. 8:15pm, he finally came and moved me to the sink. I thought finally! But he left me there for another 15 mins to trim a beard of a man who just walked in. Around 8:40pm, he came to rinse my hair quickly and i inform him that i will not be getting a haircut cut today and would like to leave once my hair is dried. He offered to trim my hair quickly, which i denied. He blew dry my hair and FINALLY, almost 9PM, it was time to pay. According to their website, deep conditioning is $25.00, which was what i expected to pay. The total came to $70.00! I asked why and he said he dried my hair... Was he going to let me leave with a soaking wet hair before? 2.5 hours later... i left the salon with no haircut, VERY disappointed with the service I've received, which was not worth $70.00. This is a review for a specific hair dresser at the Ash Salon and Spa Linh Nguyen. I have long hair. When I lived in Hawaii, I had the best hair dresser and his name is Khiet. No one colored and cut my hair like he did. What I really liked about him was that he dry cut my hair after he flat ironed it. This is super important especially for my hair because I have curly hair. It's been more than 5 years since I moved from Hawaii and finally I found a hair dresser as talented as he, if not more. She dry cut my hair and she made my hair look so much better than before. My previous hair dresser in this area would give me layers but it was just too chunky and difficult to style. My layers blend now and I love it so much. I haven't tried color with her yet but I plan to when I need it. I also appreciate that she likes long hair and never pushes me to cut my hair which many stylists do. I think she is awesome! My haircut was $75 which is pretty steep but I don 't go to the salon often and she does such a good job. read more

I have never written a review but I am fuming. I called telling them I had a groupon for a haircut and balayage and they give me a appointment with Noor. She was very friendly but DID A !!!TERRIBLE!!! JOB. My hair was very long and when I walked in I was thinking of only cutting it maybe 3 inches HOWEVER my stylist Noor decided that I would look good with a bob (???) and within the minute I sat down chopped my hair off all the way to my shoulders. We literally spoke for a minute and in that minute I showed her the length I wanted and asked her opinion for balayage color. She once again said I would look good with a bob and a single hair color that's more "natural". After chopping my hair she proceeded to color my hair without washing it and left the color on for 45 mintues after saying it needed to be in my hair for 30. During this time she talked on the phone while completely disregarding the timer that I had put on go off. She washes the color off and the minute I look in the mirror I can tell that the color is way too light for my head. I have naturally black hair and it was light brown orange on the top of my head and black in the bottom. As she dries it she laughs about how the cut is great for the summer and the color is oh so "natural". Then I go to pay and she does not give me the groupon price as discussed on the phone and in person before the appointment what was supposed to be a haircut and balayage for 109 I got a terrible haircut and single processed hair color for 170!! This is the most terrible salon experience I have had..I have been to some top salons in the area and paid around 220 dollars , however their service is terrible - my first time I travel a lot because of work so I happened to stop by and give this place a try just for a root touch up 65 dollars - nothing right ? After a long week at work and a much longer time in between getting my hair done (at least 1 year), I decided to book something close to my home and ended up booking an appointment online the same day. Ash was very accommodating and took the time to understand what I was looking to do with my hair and how to best proceed while maintaining my hair health. I had blonde ends but my hair had grown out so much from the last time that it was done that it was 6 inches of brown followed by another 8 inches of very very brassy blonde. He did an amazing balayage technique that blended all of the colors together, while still achieving that beautiful platinum blonde hue that is so hard to achieve. I love the fact that he cared so much about my hair health and used an olaplex treatment through the the entire process. After bleaching my hair I was super surprised that I had no breakage or fallout - something I was so used to every single time that I brushed and washed my hair. After washing the bleach out (while in the super comfy massage chairs I must say) he then put a toner in my hair that added shine and finished up with the final olaplex treatment before taking me back to the chair. He cut and styled my hair then after and honestly I couldn't be happier! I have lived in the Northern VA area for just over 8 years now and I can finally say that I have found my stylist, thank you again Ash!! read more
