    Burger with Asher's cheese fries
    Matt M.

My wife and I had lunch here on busy Friday afternoon. The ambience here is very cool and relaxed. My wife ordered a traditional burger w/ cheese and Asher's cheese fries with bacon with a Dr. Pepper. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which comes with fries. I had water to drink. Good things - The burger had 2 Smashed Pattie's that were moist and delicious! The burger is a 4/5 star burger. The fresh cut fries when crunchy were good. The chicken had good flavor and was cooked properly. Bad things - The fries for Both our orders were mostly soft, flimsy, and soggy. A few fries were crunchy. The fries are super small and short. There wasn't much white cheese sauce on my wife's fries. The fountain soda was not good. There was not enough carbonation in the soda. My wife had a Dr.pepper and then switched to a sprite and still had the same result with a carbonation issue. The chicken was so small! The chicken was about the size of half the bun! The grilled chicken and fries is 15 dollars and was way over priced! The burgers don't include fries!!! Fries are an extra 2 dollars. The service was unfortunately slow and the food came out really slow! The waitress apologized because she had 2 large tables with big orders but why not offer a discount or an item for free? We waited about an hour for food! We will be back for more burgers or possibly to try the tenderloin. Unfortunately our first experience wasn't a great one!

Absolutely love the concept of this place. It's a restaurant, but has a lil area for gambling, pool, and a bar. The food was also really good, I only remembered to take pictures after we dug in lol. I got the mac and cheese and shared a horseshoe and both were great. Only complaint is the grilled chicken on my mac and cheese tasted cheap. Also, my friend didn't like the chicken tenders on her food, I didn't have an issue with it though. Service was good no complaints. Great vibes, great food, overall fun place!!!

    Pork tenderloin

I had high hopes for this place and it fell short. The place itself is pretty cool inside. It has a lot of potential. Service is mediocre. You can't rely on one sandwich (pork tenderloin) to carry the whole weight of the menu. Side portions are tiny. Other items are below average at best. If your not going for a pork tenderloin it's a hard pass.

The ambiance of Asher's is lovely. There is a wood feel to the place and it stretches mysteriously to the back of the building, where there is a lovely pool table. The staff is attentive and on the spot with food and needs along the mail. I have had the horse before and it's excellent. The sunshine burger has a a fried egg and an "Asher bite", a delicious concoction of deep fried mashed potato. Asher bites are available as an appetizer and I would highly recommend them. The chicken finger were well flavored and cooked perfectly. The fried cod was also great although the cole slaw was not as flavorful as it ought to be. If you are looking for a great meal, I would recommend Asher's without reserve!

The dining area looks like it it would accommodate about 50 people (max) and the decor was retro with wood paneled walls and formica tabletops. Everything was clean and well kept. We were greeted by a waitress who was knowledgeable and hugely friendly. The menu was pretty expansive and the pricing seemed reasonable. We opted for traditional dinner fare, roast beef, mashed potatoes with brown gravy for me and she had turkey, mashed potatoes (no gravy). We both passed on the dressing that came with the meal and both chose rolls and a vegetable as our two sides. The cost for each meal was about $14. Add $3 for one soft drink (I had water) and the out the door cost was a touch over $33. About the food: Neither of us was impressed with the meal. After talking it over we decided that the best description of the meal was that it had been assembled VS. being cooked. My roast beef meal looked to have been slices of precooked meat, with instant potatoes, which was covered with factory made brown gravy. Her turkey meal looked like they were in fact real pieces turkey. The meat was small and looked like someone had chipped larger pieces up into bite sized chunks, with instant potatoes. Neither meal visually made you you go WOW! and the taste was forgettably bland. Overall, we were just unimpressed. Neither of us felt that the taste, quality or quantity justified the cost. I have fond memories of eating here with my mother and I was looking forward to rekindling those feelings and well....it didn't happen. Next time I'm passing by, I'll keep on going.

And we highly recommend a visit, especially if you are familiar with the brand! Like the BloNo location there are at least two entrances - the one further west is for a good sized hosting/ordering/waiting area while the one closest to the ballpark has more direct access to the bar area, but is way more space-restricted and will likely be a traffic jam on game days. If you're looking for a table, both entrances open to the rest of the cool 'industrial chic' dining areas in the form of a large street-level open concept dining area and a good sized split-level (up 3-4 steps) back room - which despite having wide entrances that make it feel part of the larger space, likely can easily be cordoned-off for private functions. One visit in and the lady and I (plus our friend and former Ptown bartender) can say that the food was every bit the same top-quality, large portion, methodically cooked and creatively accented sandwiches and wraps, served in old school pie pans with red-white check paper liners, that we are used to. The weekend special shaved ribeye Cali burrito was particularly epic, cementing what seems to be the first of the 3 or 4 things that keep the crowds coming back. The second thing is the creativity and discernment applied to bar side - in the form of the beer menu, which is initially focused on bottles/cans since they just received the liquor license the day before our arrival. Despite this there was a good mix of 'domestics' and at least 20 quality craft options from 6 or 8 fantastic breweries representing a good variety of styles but leaning like those at the original location - that is, a few more IPAs and 'sweet sours'. They also maintain a thoughtful and inventive cocktail list and will NO DOUBT start building up the whiskey/bourbon collection in the coming weeks. Although having high quality and fairly compensated employees helps immensely, the last thing that really drives their business is something we often say three times - location... In this case, it's literally less than a block from home plate. Easy to find. Easy to love. We'll certainly be back!
