I've been to the other location a few blocks over twice but stopped into this one to compare and contrast. We found that both carry the same items, however, so if you've been to one you might not need to hit the other one. But since I've been to both I thought I'd write a bit here, too. It may be bias since the other location was the one I was first acquainted with but I found the other space a bit more comfortable and charming. Not to say there's anything wrong with this one. I just love the more rustic, wood decor of the other. But this location still has so many delicious honey varietals to choose from! They have their own locally sourced honey including Sourwood and Wildflower, and some sourced varieties from out of state, including Tupelo from Florida and the Chicory and Meadowfoam from the Pacific NW. They even carry Lehua from Hawaii and Fireweed from Alaska! There's also infused flavors like coffee, ghost pepper, chai, lavender, vanilla bean, and more. And the best part? You can try them all! They also have some really cute bee themed housewares, plus skin care, candles, and other products made from beeswax. Perfect for gifting or hoarding for yourself. I absolutely loved my stop to Asheville Bee Charmer. It's was a great spot to pickup some gifts during my trip; however, the experience was so much more than that. They offer free honey tastings. Yes, you read that correctly - honey tastings. Similar to a wine tasting, you get to give your tastebuds a little treat with honey. And Asheville Bee Charmer has many different varieties. It was fun to taste with others who were also in the shop. I lucked out and met two who knew a lot about Asheville Bee Charmer's products - so between them and the staff member, I got to really experience a good mix of honeys during my tasting. They have a mix of local, domestic and international honey as well as a number of infusion varieties. I left with three honeys - Fireweed Honey (strong pairing for my morning yogurt, granola and fruit), Blackberry Honey (gift for my parents - it's not blackberry flavored, but rather from bees who pollinate blackberry bushes) and Firecracker Hot Honey (gift for my brother and sister-in-law who love a good spice kick addition to their food). This was a first of experiences for me. The honey tasting was refreshing and enlightening. They give a nice amount of honey on the sample paper during the tasting so you have the opportunity to make a proper opinion about the flavor. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. I actually enjoyed spending money on items here and if ever in Asheville will visit again. The tupelo honey was my favorite. Absolutely loved this cute store. Bought ALL of my Christmas gifts for friends and family here. Loved that they had different size bottles so I was able to buy a ton of 3 oz containers to travel in my carry on bag. Was such a unique experience to be able to taste test such a variety and curate my own little trio gift pack for family. Everyone loved their gifts. Bought a gorgeous cookbook with sweet and savory recipes for food and drinks inspired by 28 honey varietals. Staff was friendly and helpful. They helped prep the bottles and ceramic bowl for flying. I frequent this shop whenever I'm in the area and restock from home by ordering online. I love that they have the option to taste test their unique flavors - I found a new favorite in the orange, clove and cinnamon. Other highlights for me include their summer seasonal mint honey and their firecracker and smokin' hot, which are both fabulous with any type of meat. ANY HONEY FLAVOR YOU CAN ASK FOR! This place has so many cool honey options! I was just browsing, but I saw they have a section of 3oz honeys with a sign that said "TSA friendly" so I just had to get one to bring on my carry on back home. They have a honey tasting bar where you can sample any of the flavors they offer. My favorite was the Vanilla Bean! I even tried Firecracker which was spicy, with a really spicy after taste! That one would be perfect for cooking. I tried about 5 different flavors, and all were good. And not only do they have honey, they have other cool items such as bee merchandise or body care. Definitely come stop by, tourists have no excuse since they have TSA friendly bottles of honey that you can take with you on your flight home!!! read more

Loved visiting this honey shop on recommendation from a friend. They have a honey tasting bar (that is free!) where you can try a whole host of different types of honey before you consider purchasing them! The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable so really great to talk to. The local honeys of course are delicious - the sourwood, tulip poplar and wildflower. We ended up purchasing the fireweed (which I eat a spoonful of every day hehe), local honeys and a few others as gifts. One I didn't get but also did was the lavender whipped honey - so so tasty. I never realized different honeys from different flowers had such different flavors - truly a unique experience to have when you visit Asheville. A must do! read more

I've been to the Asheville Bee Charmer before but at the other location so this was my first time to the Broadway location as it closes early. This location was smaller than the Battery Park store but was still full of products. The sampler bar setup was perfect with the Plexiglas and they were very generous with the number of samples as I was trying to figure out which honey products to buy on this trip. Besides the honey available in multiple sizes and they do sampler sizes so you can buy several; they have clothing; body products from lotions to the infamous foot lotion bar to soaps; jewelry was available; candles and some books too. Customer service was amazing from the moment I entered the store until I left. I paid no attention during checkout but all the items were wrapped in tissue paper so I had goodies to unwrap when I got home. read more

We stopped in here after wandering around downtown Asheville and we loved it! We tried soooo many samples at the sampler bar and my favorites were firecracker and firewood! We tried lavender which was also so yummy, cocoa, chai, lavender, ghost pepper, vanilla, and so many more that I can't even remember! That ghost pepper made me nervous but after how well I tolerated firecracker I felt bold enough to try it but, boy, was that a burn! The bee tender was so patient with us and explained each honey variety. I grabbed a firecracker and firewood to go home with! Would definitely recommend stopping by here if you're in town. read more

Cute little shop that I stopped into since I was wandering through the shops on Broadway. Its focus is honey, in case you weren't able to discern that from the name of the shop. They have a tasting station at the back of the store, but I didn't go down there. They also have tons of different types of honey, which if you're a fan is fantastic! They carry lip balm, shampoo, lotion, all with honey incorporated, plus other sundries and gifts. Staff greeted me but were not pushy or hovering, which is always appreciated. read more

I view the Asheville Bee Charmer as more of a destination than a place just to shop. For such a small store there is plenty of variety packed in and all having to do with, of course, honey. Books, candles, all natural skin care products, packaged gifts, jewelry and of course raw honey are a few of the things you'll see. The honey bar in the back is where you can try all the different flavors from around the world. They also have a large variety of their own infused honey which are seriously tasty!! I always get a different jar, depending on my mood! You can get small jars which allows you to get a better variety. I am also hooked on the Naked Bee facial moisturizer. I use it on my neck and chest as well during the winter months and it feels and smells lovely! They are open during Covid but I recommend you call or check out the internet site as hours are more limited. They have two locations now. One at 32 Broadway and one at 38 Battery Park. You can't go wrong at either one! read more

What a great gifting spot in Asheville! We visited the downtown location on a weekday afternoon and it was busy. As soon as we walked in, the nice lady up front offered us honey samples. And we were on our way on our first ever honey tasting! She was so patient and sweet; we ended up tasting probably 20 different honeys. Who knew they could all taste so different! We probably spent way too much time in there having too much fun. Note - the honeys and honey products here are not budget-friendly, but are worth the quality. read more

1 star for the honey collection we actually got to see. 0 stars for the attitude of the people in the store. We aren't from here, in fact we live in Atlanta and just got here. This was the first store we stopped at as soon as we parked the truck because I was determined to get some honey. I brought a mask in my purse just in case because you never know when going to a new city. My husband forgot his in the truck. We walked in, saw the "mask required" and my husband (obviously without one) looked at the first store representative, said he didn't have one and she politely gave him one, to which he put on immediately. That should have been the end of it. It wasn't. A lady in the back of the store who appeared to work there yelled "our county has a mask mandate!" and proceeded to look at another worker in the store and said the word "asshole". Like I said, they both looked like they worked there. The one who she said the word "asshole" to never said anything. Just smiled and continued on. My husband didn't see or hear this completely rude and unprofessional cow carry on the way she did but I grabbed him by the arm and said "I won't spend any money in this store after that unneeded display." If she in fact worked there then shame on her. If she did not, then shame on the lady behind the counter that she carried on with because she 100% worked there. We aren't from here. It was our very first stop and NEITHER of us had any issues with being masked. Our hometown isn't mask mandated so it was an honest mistake that we were more than willing to correct. For the record: go to Wehrloom Honey. They're just down the street and they're so incredibly nice!!! Plus you can get some honey-beer brews at the same time! I'm thankful the women in the Bee Charmer store were so rude because if not, I wouldn't have got to sample the honey products from Wherloom and buy nearly $100 worth of their product. As an edit to the store owners comment: if you read my review, I clearly stated that the woman who appeared to work there (but I was unsure of this fact) spoke the fowl word to the employee behind the desk who I know for a fact WAS an employee. Your assumption that I would not know what the word "plethora" means just goes to show the attitude we received when we walked into your store, so my rip on your small business was in fact warranted. I hand out 5 star reviews like candy on here since some small businesses thrive on "word of mouth" but considering what took place and the fact that your establishment allowed such behavior from anyone in your store, employed or not, when customers entered to politely make a purchase AND follow the rules once established showed a great deal of character, or lack there of. You can't control what some patrons do but you can control how you react to such behavior and yes, fowl language was used and it wasn't frowned upon or addressed by the employees in your store!! I'm not deaf nor stupid and claiming that nobody swore in regards to an innocent transaction between your store manager and a potential patron is an outright lie. read more

Such a cute spot! You can sample the honey and body lotions to make sure you get what you like. They were all delicious and we decided on the "meadowfoam" honey and it taste like marshmallows! Over charges for usps priority and gives you first class mailing instead. Very disappointed in the dishonesty and error of human greed. If you want your gifts on time by paying USPS priority beware they will switch it to first mail without your consent or correcting the over charged made. Only after of an emailed requested they wanted to avoid credit card company report of over charges delivery service fraud it was corrected. No sincere apologies given. Please understand 1-3 business days for Priority is NOT the same services first class. So my ordered will be over a week before arrival. We stumbled across this gem while on a getaway for my birthday. We could have spent all day discovering what all this store had to offer. There were multiple types of honey with a Covid friendly " honey bar" so you could sample. The body products were amazing and also available to be sampled. The employees were friendly, helpful, and efficient without being intrusive. I came home with a couple of different types of honey and the most amazing body butter: herbal sunrise.
