GRP features two lighted baseball fields, picnic facilities, restrooms, lighted tennis/pickleball courts, children's playground, a community room, museum and observatory and measures approximately 18 acres. Quite huge park, but you wouldn't know it from first glance. Very clean and well kept. Two parking lots are available. East side of the park on Orange Ave is where you'll find the picnic shelters, larger playground, community room, historical museum, basketball courts and observatory. West side of the park on Alhambra Ave is closer to the smaller playground and larger baseball diamond. As for the 1 full tennis and 1 full tennis + 4 pickleball shared courts, they are located on Orange Ave near the intersection of Orange Ave and Metro Dr. If you're coming from the north on Orange Ave, drive past the entrance of the park and go up the hill just a bit. The courts will be on your right. Very small parking lot in front of the courts. Street parking is also available. Lighted courts are first come first serve. For pickleball, permanent lines are available, but you'll have to bring your own net (BYON). If you plan to bring food/drinks, be careful of ants. They will find them LOL. Our work group had so much fun. We met some new pickleballer friends as well. Definitely a great place to play some amazing pickleball. Thank you GRP!

They even have an old Lion water fountain (not working). 4/5 Parking Limited spots can cause you to search for spots on the street. Especially when there is a birthday party near the playground. We fpund the last spot. 3/5 Bathrooms Old and need updating. Makes you feel like you are in prison with the steel toilets. 5/5 Likelihood to Return I think we will add this to the park rotation when we are in the area. The day I paid a visit it had just rained a bit in the afternoon then cleared out for the rest of the evening. Up above this hillcrest on any given day I suspect would be ideal for watching the sunset or perhaps flying a kite. There was a consistent light breeze which felt refreshing, free from the congested traffic down below. Among the offerings include a baseball field, a modern jungle gym, basketball courts, and tennis courts. Specifically, tennis takes priority over pickleball. Further up the hill there's a small Japanese garden with a gazebo which while a bit worn out has a lot of charm. Street parking was plentiful and it never got really crowded. One thing I noticed was that my mobile network became somewhat spotty, but 'tis a minor inconvenience. If I'm free, I'd love to visit more often.

Barnes Park Offerings: 1) Pickleball Courts (6) /Tennis (1): 2 month's ago they repaved and installed permanent pickleball nets. There's only one tennis court now... haha Pickleball is taking over! Pickleball courts are closed starting 5/4/2026 to 5/12/2026. Will reopen on 5/13/2026. 2) Baseball/Softball Field 3) Community Center 4) Gymnasium: Indoor basketball and pickleball courts (7pm - 10pm) 5) Restrooms: They're available. Not really clean though. 6) Teqball table: Don't see people use this table to play. I guess I'll watch this on youtube for now. Hopefully, one day.... I'll be able to see this sport in real life. Parking towards the end of the day can be limited because the park is surrounded by homes. It doesn't look like the nicest neighborhood but this little park is so sweet. Don't be surprised to find many residents of the community doing dances and stretches and exercise in the morning. Many older women come in groups and go in walks. And there are people that come and use the smaller basketball court. The playground for the children is also well maintained. Who needs to pay the Huntington prices when you can go to a rose garden for free? That being said the Huntington is worth every penny. You can access the rose garden from St. Albans Road if you don't want to go to the rest of the park. This garden is picturesque with the rose bushes surrounded by white arbors and tall Italian Cypress trees. It had a nice formal design and ideal for strolling around and taking photos.

They also have open fields where you can play catch or have a picnic. They have some pave roads where kids can bike, scooter or rollerskate. Not only are there basketball and tennis courts but there is also a small pond with ducks, as well as a huge track to get your steps in! The park is so clean with plenty of areas to chill, as well as grills and benches to hang out and BBQ! I came here most recently for Independence Day to watch the fireworks show at 9pm. I really appreciate them implementing security checks prior to entering the show since last year! It was very crowded but there was plenty of space to enjoy the beautiful fireworks! The show lasted around 15 minutes and the fireworks were so big and pretty! Really enjoy how there were food stands and entertainment prior to the firework show as well!
