I picked the largest pine cones, hidden in hubby's hoodie (I didn't have a bag), to experiment on. The Magnolia tree greeted us, as we entered the park, was in full bloom. I think it's scented, too! My favorite about this park, was the playground. I spent more time swinging with the youngest grandson, and watching him and his 8 years old playmate (friends since toddlers), and walking around to the nearest creek & bridge. If it wasn't feeling like about to rain, we could have stayed much longer! Oh, they also have to drive back to Portland, today, so off they go, and we stayed longer.

Central Park in Ashland OR…read more During our stop in the City of Ashland on our way back to California we walked across the street to Lithia Park. We were wrapping up a Thanksgiving weekend at the time of our visit so leaves have fallen and they may have experienced some rain. It wasn't too chilly, the sun was out and so were the locals (and visitors like us). Lithia Park is a historic park and has combinations of woodland, ponds, gardens, and gorgeous Italian-style fountains. It's no wonder the park has been named the Crown Jewel of Ashland. The park is huge! Lithia Park is located in a lush forested area and also has hiking trails but we didn't go that far. Wow, and I didn't know this but, the park is also a source of Lithia Mineral Water. The park was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Review #3266

Gone is the huge wooden play structure we grew up on where battle…read morewounds were earned from hitting your head running up and down the labyrinth of stairs and hiding spots. Gone are the onslaught of splinters, burns from the hot metal slides and being attacked by the countless wasps hiding in the nooks, crannies and roof peaks. Even back then, this was the park to go to! Fast forward to a recent refresh, the playground is still sprawling and super diverse, something for everyone! Wood has been replaced by plastic and metal but the laughter of kids as they run wild is still here. The only downside is maybe the lack of parking, but on hot summer days you'll find the ice cream truck posted up in the lot closest to the playground. What I really love about this park is that's it's more than just a playground. The greenway cuts through it making bike riding an awesome option. Keeping in that theme, there's a BMX style dirt track with whoops, table tops and fat banks and burms. A comprehensive skateboard park, tennis courts, a huge open grassy area, covered seating for parties and a large dog park round out this sprawling Medford classic.

There is plenty of parking spots and good to see no non sense going on in the parking lot. We have been to a few skate parks where there were shenanigans going on in the parking lot. We stopped because I used to skate and it cool to watch the different levels of skaters having a great time. I'm 56 now and no more skating, I do have a super cool RC truck that I normally bring to the parks, I didn't have it with me on this trip. It was good to see skateboarders , bike riders and scooter riders all having a good time together. Sometimes the younger scooter riders get a hard time from the older kids. We sat in the shade for about an hour and watched tricks being practiced and tricks being pulled off, it brought back a lot of great memories. It was a surprise to see that not everyone had a helmet on, I know it saved my head more than a few times. Side note, just as we were leaving the police pulled up in the parking lot just to do a walk around. The grounds were well maintained- staff and volunteers were at work each day, it felt like we were staying in the middle of a beautiful city park. Bathrooms were so nice. Clean, stocked, and well lit. The showers were free and easy to access but kept private with access codes for campers. We will definitely be back and are excited to explore more of Oregon state parks' yurts in other beautiful campgrounds.

Parking is easy and they also have a lot of snack options for purchase including hot chocolate. Would recommend ice skating at Bill Collier Community Ice Arena, overall rating 4.25. Our whole family always has a blast ice skating here.
