    Wedge Caesar salad

Food was exceptional, unfortunately the service was not. We made a 6:30pm reservation for an 8pm curtain opening a few blocks away, which the staff said would give us enough time. We ended up waiting 45 minutes to an hour just for our salads. The meatloaf was very delicious and went well with the aioli and potatoes. Portions were huge. Same goes with the sundaes for dessert, which we sadly only had 10 minutes to eat before dashing out for a show. Be nice to the servers, they are doing a great job trying to manage organized chaos. That said, I advise management to think creatively of new systems for customers in a town where many dinners are planned around the Oregon Shakespeare Festival evening plays.

3.5 is where we've settled. We made a reservation via open table the day before so when we arrived at 5, we were greeted and seated almost immediately. There were seats inside and out. We ate inside. I'm including a picture from our seat since I don't know what words to use to describe it. We found it comfortable. We were asked if we were celebrating anything so we let them know we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We heard them ask several people the same question and thought that was pretty neat. The specials were read to us. They had special drinks, a salad and a special with sole, as well as sole being their market fish. We don't enjoy sole so unfortunately, we didn't get the special or the market fish. We started with the lemon Caesar salad which was good although it had a bit too much dressing for me. We're used to croutons on our Caesar salads but enjoyed the bread crumbs. It was a great size to share before our main meals. Randy ordered the house capellini but didn't really enjoy it. The pasta was not capellini and he says if it would have been, it might have made it better. The noodles had sauce on them but no sauce was available on the plate so it was indistinguishable as a vodka sauce. It was dry like that. The skin on the cherry tomatoes was thick for him so he didn't eat those. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and asked for broccolini instead of the carrots on the menu. The chicken was a boneless breast and it was quite flavorful and delicious. I had plenty of the bacon gravy which was also flavorful. I rarely eat fried chicken so it being so good was a treat for me. Randy loved my dish, especially the potatoes. And he's not a gravy guy but he really liked the gravy, too. Our server was attentive, refilling our waters several times and checking in to make sure we were doing ok. We did not order dessert but when our check came, our server brought a small plate with some dark chocolate pieces and a burning candle on it to help us celebrate. A special touch for sure. I didn't get a picture of our main dishes dangit but I highly recommend the fried chicken.

Pork belly starters! Highly recommend. Salty and savory flavors with a "sushi" construction. Best to counterbalance with a fresh salad. I had the lamb bolognese pappardelle pasta, which was a hit. The pasta is made in house. Broad, tasty noodles that are elevated from what you would get at home. The burger entree looked wonderful as well. Ambience was fine with standard service. They did a great job with our large group. Restaurant is located adjacent to the hotel lobby.

We have been wanting to eat here for many years, and finally made a reservation. So glad we did. The service was excellent, attentive, but not overly. The drink/wine selection was impressive. And the food choices were amazing. It also appears they use seasonal produce from the area. I thoroughly enjoyed my fried chicken over mashed potatoes and gravy, with gently roasted carrots. Sadly, we did not have room for dessert, and we'll know next time to save room, as the desserts looked wonderful.

Our table was in their patio space, which I actually like better than the indoor part of the restaurant. The patio space feels very open and has a lot of live plants in the planters that make space between tables. It was a little warm on the patio since it was 98 degrees outside, but they keep it relatively cool on this mostly enclosed patio. Our server was great. She was so friendly and fun to talk to. She helped us figure out what we wanted to order and checked in on us just the right amount. You can tell the food here is very fresh and homemade. We started with the Deviled Eggs, which are really special. I love how they serve them over a bed of crushed up potato chips as they give this dish some salty crunch. Next we had the Beet salad, which is marinated beets over a whipped cheese. The beets do have a strong vinegar flavor, but it's balanced out beautifully by the cheese. My wife ordered the Mushroom Bolognese, which was probably the best dish of the evening. This is an incredible, vegetarian dish that is so meaty without any meat. The finely diced mushroom sauce is so good along with the handmade noodles. Also, adding burrata to it gives it a perfect creaminess. I ordered the pork chop, which was also excellent and enormous. It did take me a lot longer to eat since it was a little hard to cut, the compote on top added a great sweetness, but I feel like it could've used more. Also, the polenta and grilled asparagus was awesome. Lastly, we got the Rice Pudding for dessert. It comes with a hazelnut crumble and a dolce de leche sauce. Normally, I feel like rice pudding has a kind of thin, milky consistency, but not this. It is think and has a wonderful texture. It is probably the best rice pudding I've ever had. The nuts give a satisfying crunch and the dolce de leche sauce is light and sweet. Disclaimer: we did order one dish we really didn't like. It was a special salad with endives and lentils. The server was happy to get us another dish.

I know the staff to be terrific and had gone way outof their way to accomodate this unplesant client. And I would suggest to the client that they check theit watch because I know that the 1 hour time line that was complained about was unfairly inaccurate. A small business like this depends on fair and accurate reviews. I suggest that people that care will read all the reviews before making any decisions for a terrific dinning experience. Speaking, the brisket in the Banh Mi was unfortunately tough and lacked the tenderness you'd expect from a properly smoked or braised cut. It had the distinct texture of a pre-packaged Sysco-style product, or perhaps it was a cold portion reheated on a flat top without being properly rehydrated, leaving it dry and chewy. I understand that protein carries a high food cost, especially in the current market. However, a more effective approach might be to balance the menu engineering by leaning on lower food cost items, like seasonal sides or creative vegetarian options, to offset the expense of sourcing and correctly preparing higher-end brisket. This would allow for a better product that justifies its price point, covers its own cost, and ultimately helps the company's bottom line while maintaining the quality standards this town deserves. I'd love to see a return to the quality I experienced a few years ago. All and all, despite the brisket. The service was kind and friendly.
