The shop was very busy when we visited, which is always a good sign, but the staff kept things moving and the atmosphere was lively. I love stopping in when in the area! Their cold brew is sooooo good and they constantly have seasonal drink options. Even when the line is long they move quickly so you are never waiting too long. If you are just popping in for a coffee they do have a separate line to speed things up. read more

#26 in my NEW ENGLAND & NY COFFEE SHOP SERIES Cute, cozy cafe! Every time I come on Yelp, I always see this place as one of the top promoted ones. I finally decided to stop in on a Monday afternoon after clinical. They have roughly 8 tables, small bar seating, and a little couch area for people to converse, study, or work. They also have an area to buy coffee maker item, merch, and coffee beans. Great outdoor seating as well as friendly service. Nothing too standoutish, just good. For my drink, I got the seasonal cherry mocha. It was good, but very subtle on the cherry, mocha, and espresso. Overall, I would not get the drink again, probably try something else. I would come here again to study but only if I was in the area. I would not go out of my way to come here. read more

This is the coziest coffee shop I've ever been to! We stopped on our way to Rhode Island & it was packed, the line was to the door. But it gave you time to admire the shop & decide on what items you're interested in. This place gave me log cabin vibes in the best way. We ordered two bacon egg & cheeses on a croissant as well as Joel's breakfast latte & an iced vanilla latte. It came out relatively quick despite how busy this place was. The cafe is normally busy, but always cozy and friendly. They have a lot of drink options--using their freshly roasted coffee that you can purchase bags to bring home. From frappes, lattes, to cappuccinos, they are using the best coffee. For the tea lovers, I highly recommend their Chai Tea Latte or Dirty Chai. That is my usual order, but today I tried a few of their seasonal specials: Charcoal Frappe and Toasted Marshmallow Latte. The Charcoal Frappe was delicious as it was mixed with flavors of cocoa and coconut. The Toasted Marshmallow Latte tasted like a warm s'mores with graham cracker on top. I also got a tasty Tomato, Cheddar and Chive Quiche. It was eggy, cheesy and the tomato made it so good. The crust was perfectly flaky. Bought a Apple Pie Scone for home that was covered with caramel. I always enjoy coming to Ashlawn Farms Coffee. November 2022 - COVID Review: I took the Amtrak train up to Old Saybrook station and not expecting there to be much to see/do in the area while I waited to take an uber to my next destination. But this cute coffee shop was right next door! The staff were so nice and welcoming! I was in between a bunch of options on the menu and they were accommodating of my request to have a less caffeinated drink (pregnancy), while still tasting yummy. I tried one of their seasonal drinks and it was a great recommendation! It was an unseasonably warm November day so it was nice to be able to lounge at one of their outdoor tables. read more

I Yelp-searched for a new-to-me coffee shop in the Old Saybrook area while driving from Newington to Mystic on Sunday. Ashlawn Farm Coffee stood out for two reasons. First, earlier this year, I had an iced coffee made with Ashlawn when I was at Scratch Baking in Milford. The best bakeries tend to know good coffee in my experience. Second, I remembered that one of my Food Blogger friends said on Instagram that Ashlawn was their favorite coffee shop. Ashlawn is fairly close to Route 95. The area outside the shop was enclosed by tent-like material. Maybe it get's windy there? The entryway of the shop had bags of coffee and other goods nicely displayed for purchase. As I walked further, I observed lots of comfortable seating and a wide selection of baked goods. I was not in the market for baked goods, but I was impressed with the quality appearance. I only wanted a good Black Iced Coffee, possibly topped with cold foam. Not long after I created an Instagram reel discussing how Cold Foam is suddenly everywhere, Ashlawn and the other coffee shop I visited on Sunday didn't have Cold Foam. Water finds its own level after all. Ashlawn's only cold coffee offering was Nitro. That's not a normal order for me. Ashlawn's Nitro had the trademark smooth and creamy vibe. It was well executed, but if I had access to a good coffee shop that served black iced coffee made with something like an Ethiopian or Kenyan Single Origin, I would choose that over Ashlawn's Nitro. Four Stars for the coffee, but even though I didn't eat any of their baked goods, the wide selection is worth another .5 Stars. So I'll round up to 5 Stars. read more

Ashlawn came highly recommended by my fellow Yelp friend Jason along with several non-Yelp friends. I was on a girls weekend in Old Saybrook and convinced my friends that we should give it a try. We arrived at around 11:00am on a Saturday and there was still a pretty sizable line which I thought was a great sign and the line moved pretty quickly. The space itself is so cute and I loved that they have a little shopping area in the front to purchase coffee, tea and various coffee accessories and mugs. They also have a play area in the back for kids and a good amount of seating too. I ordered a maple iced latte and a French toast bagel toasted with plain cream cheese. My food and drink were both prepared quickly and it seems like they have a pretty seamless system to ensure things move along quickly. My latte was delicious and had a perfect hint of maple without being too sweet. I loved the bagel and I appreciated the generous amount of cream cheese they provided on it as well. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely return next time I'm in the area. read more

There was hair in our chicken salad (a prepacked grab & go item). The hair in question was red, which is neither the color of my nor my partners hair. Regardless of what the owners claims are, not sure who it would belong to if not the staff. The rest of our food was bland, but not unpalatable. We also had the BEC biscuit, SEC biscuit, lemon blueberry muffin, fruit cup and lemon poppyseed scone. Regretting that I didn't get one of the mini cheddar, bacon and chive quiches. While in Old Saybrook yesterday I stopped by Ashlawn Farm Coffee. This adorable coffee shop was in a shopping plaza, you may not know is here, without the help of google or Yelp. This coffee shop has the friendliest most pleasant people working here. Inside you'll find a variety of things for sale, like coffee beans, mugs, coffee brewing equipment and more. There are tables, inside and outside, as well as comfy couches. Each table had a little pumpkin on it. They had a long list of syrups to add to any coffee. I went with maple iced coffee, I also got a croissant. After checking in on Yelp, I received a free drip coffee, this was perfect, my mom really enjoyed her hot coffee. My maple iced coffee was a bit too sweet at first sip, but once I added some oat milk, it was diluted and was absolutely delicious. The croissant was plain, crispy, fresh and light, just the perfect light snack. We sat by the window, which let in plenty of light to come through. I really enjoyed Ashlawn Farm Coffee, they make tasty coffee, the staff is pleasant and kind, and it's so lovely inside. read more

We tried this place but there wasn't anything good about it. We didn't like the coffee. The bagels tasted strange. We threw everything in the garbage and went to another place. Also, inside there isn't a clear area for a line, half in/out the door. There are tables too close to the register area. Meanwhile, they have a huge area for pickups only - there was no one in that space. They should have made space at the register for customers priority. I wouldn't recommend. Bonus: accept Apple Pay, non-dairy (oat) creamer available at the counter and restrooms with a changing table for babies! However, they get very busy at times! My husband and I had a very rough past few days. Our son was sick for the first time in his life (and we are first-time parents too). We had stopped to get coffee and some pastries here in the past, but needed a little pick me up this time. We haven't had breakfast yet so we decided to try the sandwiches and also a couple of syrups for the first time. Our order was more complicated than usual. Although something happened with the coffee order as it was not ready by the time the sandwiches were warmed up and they started processing other orders, the coffees were in our hands after a quick check-in. This is my favorite coffee shop and roaster in the area. It's the perfect place to pick up a quick coffee, stay with a friend to chat, or work during the day. There's WiFi available and all biodegradable or compostable products. The coffee is sourced in an ethical matter and roasted on premises. It tastes divine and offers options for every level of coffee connoisseur. There's also a few snacks - soup, sandwiches, and bakery items - to nibble on while you relax here. It looks like the inside of a barn in the coziest sense and has beautiful farm paintings for sale throughout the cafe. The staff are beyond friendly and I couldn't recommend coming here enough.
