I stopped here on my way to the beach recently. I was looking forward to trying them out. When I got there, they were pretty busy. Lots of people inside and sitting outside. The line was long but moved very quickly and the staff were really nice. When I found out the bagels were homemade I got even more excited. I got an everything bagel with butter and a strawberry matcha iced latte. The only thing I didn't like was the bees that swarmed my bagel when I sat down. I ended up taking it to go. I ordered the Honeypot Latte, and it was delicious! It tastes like cereal milk in the best way. This is renamed to S&B Cafe and has the sweetest staff and from sitting inside for 10 mins, we could tell they are well loved in the community. Would highly recommend! We'll be back soon! I loved this place under the previous ownership-it was fun, happy and delicious. Even waiting in the line was fun. Now its messier, dirtier, the chairs worn out, and the menu is limited. Sad, it used to be such a happeing place with great food, now I'd say its marginal at best. And the atmosphere is just falling apart. read more

We visited on a Sunday morning on our way out of town. The tables outside were all occupied so we worried when we arrived but there were plenty of tables available inside. The line seemed long but it moved quickly since there were two cashiers. I got an iced S'mores latte & my husband got an iced Honeypot latte. Mine was rung up as a mocha was it was confusing if I got the right drink but it tasted good. My husband enjoyed his drink and we both agreed we would come back for coffee if in the area. For food, I got the AM Platter which had a lot of eggs, a decent amount of home fries, fresh bread, and bacon. I wasn't a fan of how the bacon was cooked, the homefries were just okay, the eggs mediocre, but the bread was delicious. I kinda wish I tried the French toast instead. My toddler got the pearl sugar waffles with strawberries & cream and they were pretty good. I liked that it was 3 small waffles which made for a good portion (with some to share). My husband's egg & cheese on a NY hard roll (add bacon) was nothing to write home about. If I went again, I'd try some other food & coffee. We didn't have the best breakfast but it wasn't bad by any means. The service was good & the restaurant itself was cute. The bathroom didn't have a changing table which was a bummer. Third round of ownership and the coffee just keeps getting worse. Just stop calling it a coffee house. It's a cafe that serves coffee that could take paint off of a car, dissolve a corpse or eat your stomach lining. Food is still quite good but, who wants great pancakes with a side of turpentine?? Came here after getting a $25 gift card, and would come back here on my own dime if in the area. The food was decent, and reasonably priced across the board. The smoothie I got was missing an ingredient (issues was remedied later in this review) making the overall taste a little acidic, but still very delicious. Got a 24oz smoothie for $7, which I think was a good price. The service here was very nice, with the cashier polite and friendly. Due to item shortage, they had one less ingredient for my Malibu smoothie (mango). Cashier was apologetic and gave me a dollar off the order as a result, which was very kind of them. The ambiance was a little loud, but not terrible. They had multiple soft chairs to sit in with coffee tables, which I enjoyed. It was crowded, but that just attests to the popularity of the location. Bathroom was in good order and clean. Overall, the store was very nice, clean, and welcoming. Will come here to use up the rest of my gift card, and will come back whenever I want to treat myself. Nothing on their menu caught my eye. We got there around 10:45am, and the pastry showcase was pretty much empty. Not one employee asked me if I needed help or offered a suggestion. All 3 ladies just kept looking at me. Needless to say, we went around the corner to another coffee shop to check them out. 2 stars because I didn't get to make a purchase. That was based on (the lack of) customer service. I'll be back to update this post when I get to actually try something. read more

Great coffee! So many varieties to choose from. I requested an americano. Really hit the spot with the cold weather kicking in. I ordered food as well. It was tasty. I sat in the comfy chairs with my friend and we chatted for more than an hour. The staff are so kind and hospitable. We were welcomed and they checked back. Really nice experience. While in Madison yesterday, I found a little coffee shop, with a lovely spacious patio for sitting outside on a nice spring day. This is a coffee shop, but they also offer smoothies, breakfast and lunch. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I got their iced coffee and my friend got the cappuccino. I also added a bit of chocolate powder as I was adding creamer to my coffee. The inside is very basic, not the most aesthetically inviting place I've ever seen. There were a few people working on their computers. We loved sitting outside with our coffees, it was a beautiful 70 degree day, with delicious coffee in hand, and a nice amount of other people doing the same. The coffee was perfect and a great pick me up. The outdoor seating was also perfect for such a lovely day. Their little garden is coming to life. I can't comment on their food, since I didn't get any this time. I would definitely come here again, especially for their outdoor seating and also to try one of their lunch options. read more

Wow! We were out walking and just found this local coffee house. It's delicious and the staff is awesome! If you don't see it on the menu, they'll make it for you. We had a sandwich and a bagel. Both were wonderful. It's off the Main Street, so it's a little quieter than the other coffee houses, but it's so worth it. Run here. (Then you can eat more!) read more

Got to work a little early for my day meeting and never been in Madison for long decided to Yelp for a breakfast spot and this one caught my eye. Lucky for me that I passed the usually Starbucks for something more local. I was able to enjoy a delicious bagel sandwich. I'm not usually a spicy guy with food but decided to live a little with a Toasted Cheddar Jalapeño bagel finished off with bacon, egg and cheese. I was glad that it had a kick but didn't kill me for the rest of the day. The bale was nicely toasted with a good heaping of cheese and bacon with a fried egg. I decided to treat myself to a smoothie as well taking the employee's recommendation for the South Beach smoothie will banana, mango and almond milk. Can't recall the last fruit in it but I can recall the drink being yummy and with me usually not being a banana guy I''m glad that it wasn't too overpowering with the banana. With some indoor and outdoor seating this coffee house has been a hit in the local "downtown" of Madison. With my bagel and drink at hand, I enjoyed a stroll on the sidewalk and some heads did peak at what I was enjoying from Madison Coffee House. read more

Loved this gem of a cafe in downtown Madison! We stopped in after a coworker gave us the recommendation. Prices were great and we appreciated the variety of food and coffee! There was plenty of indoor (with plexiglass) and outdoor dining, so we felt very comfortable with their Covid guidelines. I had a large salted caramel cold brew with oat milk and an order of avocado toast on multigrain bread with two eggs cooked over medium. I was so happy with my choice! As was my friend, who picked the chocolate chip pancakes and OJ! Service was quick and the staff was very friendly! Next time, I'm looking forward to trying some of their lunch specials! read more

It was fine. I was super excited about their website saying that they have "coffee ice cubes" which is great because it won't water down the coffee when it melts. But it turns out that they don't have that at this location. They told me the location in Guilford had them so I went over there, and they didn't either. Otherwise the stores and coffee were fine, but not memorable. Didn't try the food so maybe that's more what people seem to like? read more

Delightful, locally owned restaurant. Don't let the name fool you this is a full menu breakfast/lunch spot with adult beverages. Kids love it! Salads are huge and fresh. The shaved Brussels sprout is a personal favorite with a scoop of tuna salad. Coffe is great too but I go for the food. Check out daily specials. I liked that there was an outdoor patio but the seating was obviously weather dependent. Everything I ate was good but my husband said his sandwich had too much mayonnaise. Wait staff always kind...and have had some decent, albeit, pricey breakfasts there. Have not been there since last fall...and revisited today. Just a warning...no prices are listed for any menu items or drinks. So...when I realized I paid just short of $11 for the teeny-tiny breakfast wrap below (South if the Border) that they handed me, I was shocked! No home fries..nothing else accompanied it. My friend got an egg/cheese/caramelized onion sandwich on a Cohen's bagel with home fries, for several dollars less, which looked tasty and filling. However, I will only go back to the MCH for coffee and a bagel in the future. Prices should be listed on the paper counter menus and the menu boards so customers can steer away from buying overpriced breakfast sandwiches. I'll stick with Christy's and Nick's for a far more economical and tasty breakfast in the future. read more

Really disappointed with this place. I really can't understand how the reviews here are so positive. The food is overpriced for what you get (the bagels are so small). The flavor isn't there (I got a Biscoff latte that tastes like slightly caffeinated milk and their everything bagels were plain bagels with a couple sesame seeds. No one asked what kind of milk I wanted for my drink and they were out of so many items. I originally ordered a cheddar bacon habanero bagel but they conveniently told me after I paid that they were out. They then gave me a choice of a cheddar bagel - fine, it's close enough. But again, they were out of that too after checking. I wouldn't have ordered food if that was the case. This is edible but you have much better options elsewhere for this price point. read more

A newish place that offers a Latin night on Thursday that others have said is great. My quest is a good lunch place. My only coffee adventure was mediocre. On the positive, it is a lovely space with a good array of furniture. The menu offers a wide variety of choices. I've had omelets, the French Bird (chicken salad), and BBQ Chicken Quesadilla a few times. Also a lovely outdoor seating option. Finally, a friendly staff who track down customers wherever they are seated. On the negative, the execution of the food could be better. I need to give a 5-star nod for the COVID-19 adjustments. Very well done. A pet peeve are the regulars who occupy prime seats working on a computer with a half-empty cup of coffee. This is fine for non-peak times but a policy to limit extended stays during lunch hour would be worth considering. Every item I have eaten could be better with more attention to detail.
