Amazing medical staff in Skip Hall. Not the other building. Great information, location, care and accommodations. However the person that handles aftercare leaves much to be desired. She did not do any follow thru. I called after I left a few times and she never called me back. She did not appear to work in my case until I was with her. I felt she could have gotten a lot more done on my case had she done the follow up work prior to my next appointments. It just waisted time. The staff was a little clickey. My psychiatrist, therapist, councilor were all very good. My room was beautiful. Some of the kitchen staff treated us like we were in a prison I cannot express how wonderful this program is. It is also very spiritual. If u or someone you needs to go somewhere. This is the place! read more

They did my laundry, cleaned my room and the food was excellent all while getting me sober and getting my mind back in a good place. Each morning they slide your schedule for the day under your door and each hour is accounted for. You have small group meetings in the day (6 people) around your age and at night the whole community meets for educational on sobriety. read more

The "glory" days of Ashley appear to be over. I was there 21 years ago and the program was first rate, and I am most grateful for that. Returning recently after a relapse, it was clear that things were very different culturally and not in the best way. I was not happy there for reasons stated below - it was a mistake to return. I had legitimate, rational rational reasons to leave early and to seek options that were a better fit. At one time, the community was divided into primary and relapse groups which made perfect sense. Now, all are lumped together. As a result. relapsed patients are subject to much material that is not tailored to their needs. There was no question about my addiction and need for help - I simply did not like being there again. The core problem now is that, while they will "care" for you and will get you on the road to recovery, it does NOT come out of a sense of genuine LOVE. I attribute this to some degree as a lack of remembering Father Martin's clear founding vision of valuing the addict as a person worthy of love and respect. Nice enough folks superficially but a real, clear commitment to loving compassion is missing. This was the fundamental problem for me. Uniformly, I was met with argumentative, textbook responses suggestive of a priority on "selling" a full program and not really listening to me out of respect and personal value. There was never an issue that I needed sustained assistance and had carefully thought-out reasons to leave. While my wife initially balked at this (understandably) she came to understand the reasons why. Instead of any effort to actually listen to these reasons and understand them, I was essentially accused of being in a state of denial (which I was not) and, in a few instances, openly treated rudely. Unlike before, current top leadership is essentially invisible and does not engage with patients - that's a poor message of not engaging with the community. The place is now top heavy with management - at the expense of direct care. Some other things are indicative of a change in attitude to patients. At one time, the food in what was called the dining room, was actually prepared on site by a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and was quite good. The former dining room is now called the "cafeteria" and for good reason. Food is now right off the truck from Sysco or another food service company and reheated and assembled by people who could not reasonably be called cooks (cost/profit again). Alas, Ashley seems to have become profit oriented business with a cookie-cutter, one size fits all program. I am really saddened to write this. read more

The best place to go to for recovery and staying sober. They take great care of you while you focus on your recovery, they cook, do your laundry and clean your room. the food is very good and cooked by chefs. They fix your mind, body and health. You have daily small group meetings followed up with a weekly one on one with your counselor. And a nightly session on recovery. Before you get discharged they set you up with a therapist appointment at your home area and even enroll you in an iop if that is what was recommended. They give you the tools you need to get it done right, after that it's all up to the person. read more

Ashley was a revelation. It helped me tremendously. The days were strictly spaced with meetings and events that were very beneficial. The food was very good. I still remember the cod one evening and also the best chicken marsala I ever had. The staff were terrific. Perhaps the best thing was making new friends and the wonderful camaraderie among everyone. The staff, individual focus and programming were very well done and professional. If you are committed to putting your sobriety first, Ashley is an excellent facility to boot start your recovery. I was admitted in august for alcohol addiction. I was told to leave after 1 week because i tripped and fell..they said i was a liability. I was still detoxing, of course i was unsteady. Had to threaten them to get my refund. All they care about is income. No real treatment. read more

i would give a 0 if it was an option.stay the fuck away from this place!!!!! if you are on heavy drugs like methadone or benzos, this facility is totally inept to treat you. i was working on a methadone taper for two years, took all my take homes in that was were tapered down to specifoc days, when i chose to leave they refused to release my medication i brought in. stay away!!! all they want is your money. too many clients not enough staff. miscommunication all over the place and you will have men and women on the same floor of where you are sleeping. stay away from this disgrace of a facility!!!!! read more

I went here a few months ago to get off pain medication I wasn't even abusing. I am in recovery, and have had struggles with addiction but this was an honest attempt to get off pain medication as a chronic pain patient and get help for my mental health that has deteriorated over the past 6 years due to a car accident where I was rear ended. The patients were 98% there for alcoholic abuse and I believe that the nursing staff treated me like garbage because I was there for drugs and because I was on high alert and anxious in a medical setting from the numerous offices I've been in previously, trying to get better. The nurses and the first doctor I saw were very rude and condescending and treated me like i was asking for too much when i genuinely needed the care. Only a few of them had compassion for me and all the pain I was in. I'm sitting here trying to get ready for bed and I keep having a flashback of one incident in particular which made me feel embarrassed and like I was crazy. I don't know if they expect people to have their shit together when they come to treatment but that's what it felt like. Oh and they also advertise a pain program that doesn't even exist anymore except for PT 3 times a week that my dad had to pay for out of pocket: this experience completely traumatized me. The entire place is a mess with no communication and basic things not working or outdated like one of their buildings not having AC on the top floor when it costs 30k a month. They're using the previous owners to profit off of and trick people into thinking it's the same place it used to be when it's not. The original owners emphasized treating the patients with love and compassion and that is not what's going on. The schedule was wrong everyday, the food was terrible, and the campus is not set up for people who are disabled. I could write a book about the agony I endured there but it did cause the patients to become close which is a positive. I can't stop cringing about how I would be talking to one nurse and then other nurses would be yelling things to correct me or answer for me. I think they took me the wrong way in a lot of scenarios. I wish chronic pain patients were more understood and that people were educated more on it when they're in school so that maybe they could understand why I was so uptight and hyper focused on everything instead of thinking I was whatever they thought I was. I didn't ask for this life. They should be glad they're not where I am at right now. I wish I could work and support myself and have kids and a family. They really expected me to do everything right when I'm coming into a place where obviously not on a winning streak and need help. I hope I can recover from this because these people don't deserve any more of my energy but it really hurts to be treated that way when you walked in with really high hopes to get better. Nursing shift change sign tells you it'll take 15 minutes and when I was new, I ate breakfast and waited by the nurses station to be called for an HOUR to the point where I got in the elevator to go upstairs to the finance office because I had an appointment and was afraid to miss it, they called my name when I got to the top and when I went back down there were 9 people waiting after me before and when I told the nurse what happened she made me sign in again and wait for the other 9 patients to go in before me. So I basically took my medication on an empty stomach and threw up during my finance appointment and was late for the appointment with my counselor afterwards. I was told they take that long so that they can do all their extra work to get out on time. The other patients told me to get there way earlier. The other patients were nicer to me than the staff was and they were the ones that told me everything about how to do things there instead of the staff. I ended up leaving on another maintenance substance because I was in so much pain and felt so trapped that I felt I didn't have a choice. This place may have been worth 30k before the owners died, but it's definitely not worth 30k now. It's not right. read more

In January 2022 after spending 4 weeks at university medical center for an overdose I talked to Ashley treatment center 4 times. They were very nice and after they verified my insurance and agreeing to pay the $12,000 that insurance would not cover (because money is so important to them) I assumed that was where I would be going. Unknown to me at the time they had conversations with the medical team at UMMC. Apparently after seeing my phsyc. record they did not accept me. I was true that I had issues during my stay at the hospital I had some psychological issues but all due to drug and alcohol withdrawal. The medical team explained this to them but apparently I was too sick for them and I was ultimately denied treatment. This was a devastating blow to me and I went to another impatient rehab. I was never given any explanation why I was denied. I have just celebrated 2 years of sobriety and just thought i would tell others of my experience. No one i have talked to in two years have ever heard of someone being rejected by a rehab who had insurance and additional money required to pay my bill. I toured Ashley as a guest, and was impressed by the following: Location of center; well secluded, secured and not easily found unless you have address. Breath-taking entrance, well-manicured grounds, beautiful estate. Most of the buildings were well kept, clean and updated, except for a few that are in plans for modernization. Friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Every staff that I spoke with was clear on their role and responsibilities. Clinical areas were well staffed and patient areas well monitored. The CEO has a planned vision for moving Ashley forward in every area. read more

I received my order today (6/10/16) and was quite pleased with the DVD Chalk Talk but was FURIOUS at receiving a CD in the Humor in Recovery CD cover listing Father Martin, with a copy of Humor 101 by Darren LaCroix. What in the world made you think that would be an acceptable CD in place of the one I ordered? If the Father Martin disc is no longer available I should have been notified of that fact and not received something I DID NOT order. FOLLOWUP - have emailed 2 times with no response. read more

I cannot speak more highly of Ashley treatment. Our 30 y.o. son was struggling for years, having gone to other in-patient and several IOP. Ashely is organized, professional and extremely knowledgeable in the field of addiction. The place is beautiful and the staff was outstanding. The psychiatrist Dr. Hobbelman and the counselor Chris were particularly excellent. I have heard a criticism that it is big, but I think that is an advantage since there is a large alumni network.
