When I saw Ashley Longshore's work at a restaurant on LI, I knew I found my favorite artist of our time. Think Andy Warhol, pushing even more boundaries and limits. Love her message, love her vibe, and love her voice. I love people who are unapologetically themselves. I look up to that. I really have to just walk around downtown more. I forget how many hidden gems there are. When I remembered the gallery was in SoHo, I stopped in my tracks, searched the address for the gallery and realized I was a block away. I almost ran when I found out and was blown away upon my arrival. All this rambling is to say, don't walk, run here. Ashley's staff is friendly, knowledgeable and so fun to talk to. All of her pieces are incredible and if I didn't have to still buy diapers for the kid, I would be investing in one of her pieces. Until then, I got her book "You don't look fat, you look crazy". There are ways you can support her by buying her card games, books or smaller pieces. I can't wait to dive into this book though. She also has one that focuses on prominent women in history and pop culture called Roar!. Yay, women! It's such a great gift for the strong women in your life. I previously bought this for my sister as a Christmas gift and she loves it. Also, I signed up for the email list, even though I was already on it. Ashley has a thing called a Saturday series. What a cute and colorful gallery in a convenient neighborhood! This was my first time truly viewing pop art and my friend and I had a great time! It was really fun looking at all the portraits and the table of cake art that had witty lines LOL There's staff available for those who are interested in purchasing fun merch or art pieces. This exhibit is available for viewing throughout Women's History Month and April. Perfect spot to check out and kill time, or just for leisure, before it changes out to Ashley Longshore's other art pieces! read more

I went on a gallery hopping with my friend. We stumbled upon this studio and was immediately drawn by the bright colors and bold portraits. Loved seeing Ashley Longshore's artwork and the whole installation was very empowering and motivating, especially in the context of the recent Women's History Month. The gallery was larger than expected with 2 floors. Again I enjoyed seeing the vibrant decor from wallpaper to flooring. Emma was very energetic and helpful in answering questions. She offered to take pictures for us and invited us back to future events. I'm in no place to buy any pieces, but I still felt very welcomed (unlike some other galleries). Overall, we had a great time and would recommend others to check out Longshore's art and gallery! read more

I bet real-life Ashley Longshore is a riot! A force of nature! Her gallery on the Lower East Side is a bright, colorful, full of sparkle, and sass! Longshore is a self-taught artist and her pieces focus on woman empowerment/feminism, inclusiveness, breaking down the patriarchy. She uses words like c*nt and b*tch. She makes bedazzled middle fingers. She got Jeff Bezo's squinky eye perfect in her anti-oligarchy/billionaire piece (there are more pieces like this featuring Gordon Gecko of Wall Street fame and Bill Gates). She made a beautiful pink and bejeweled tribute queen Marsha P. Johnson. She also has some pieces focusing on hiphop artists and luxury brands. We were greeted warmly and enjoyed looking around. Definitely an instagrammable place. I loved the rainbow stairs and neon! So much to take in, I will have to return to check it out again. read more

What a super fun studio this was to visit! The artwork was bright, colorful, fun and cheeky. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like it! I found myself wanting so many pieces in there and love her vibrant? unique take on the world. The staff allows you to leisurely view the artwork and take photos, and is quickly available for questions about pricing or the pieces themselves. Yasss Queen. All hail Ashley Longshore. She screams a badass and her art and aesthetic is EVERYTHING. I love her artwork, creations, style, and she really is a living entity of New Orleans. It's so much fun seeing the studio change time to time and her window sayings are thought provoking. Thay make you think and destigmatize things that really shouldn't be a big deal according to society norms. You'll see her creations and art throughout the city but she also has a prominent influence in the fashion world. I'm obsessed and it's amazing to see her studio as a local in-person. Super disappointed. I thought I would walk into a fun, party like atmosphere but when we were let in, we barely got a hello and then we were ignored. My favorite studio in San Antonio always has music playing and champagne flowing. I assumed this place would be even better. I went with money to spend and ready to buy but left empty handed. read more

It's hard not to peek in the window and then pound on the door to be let into this bright, obnoxious (in the best of ways), outspoken gallery of Ashley Longshore. I thoroughly enjoyed every nook and cranny of this studio. From hand-beaded clutches dripping in sarcasm, to oversized chairs of butterflies and PINK PINK PINK everywhere, I smiled at every clever saying and middle finger thrown my way. This is my all time favorite artist. The gallery is incredible and they allow you to take pictures with her stunning, hilarious artwork. The gallery reflects her wonderful personality. On a nice breezy Saturday, I was taking a walk to Raw Republic and I looked across the street... Something happened...... Ashley Longshore Studio was open when I was in the area.. It felt like destiny.. Plus I was dressed cute so also everything feels like destiny then... I walked across the street and the security opened the door for me (which is a nice touch) and he stated, "I knew you were coming in and I like your purse." At that moment, I felt like this would be a gallery that understood me as a WOMAN.. As soon as I walked in I noticed all my favorite colors and craziness, pretty much it looked like the inside of my brain. Most of the studio space was covered in art by Ashley Longshore. Most of the pieces in this location are for sale with a color pop art theme to it. It's pretty much a Instagram picture heaven. You definitely should check the studio out! Outside of art you may find some books, handbags and other items. There is street parking in the area, so you shouldn't have much trouble there. read more

Pop icons in bold colors with racy phrases to accompany them- the art in this gallery is fun, energetic and sassy to no end! Though she specializes in paintings, Sarah Ashley Longshore, the diva behind it all, has a line of beautiful chairs- mostly antique in form, but popped out with bright colors and bold text. Took forever for any sales rep to open the locked front door to allow us in. No one asked us if we wanted any help. We walked around the gallery for at least 20 min with a book I wanted to buy before I poked my head in their break room to ask if I could buy the book. There were at least 8 people working. Then I proceeded to ask questions about custom art and it was like pulling teeth to get any information. The artwork is AMAZING but the sales associates need to step up their game or they will miss another $5k+ sale read more

Ashley Longshore has been such an inspiration to me! She stands for what I believe in and motivates me to Go For IT and be a Bad A-- business woman. I fell in love with her art display at Bergdorf's. I love how she decorated Palate and eat there often. My in-law's live in New Orleans and I love the fact she lives there. Have not been to her Gallery but will the next time I'm in town. I have bought one of her limited edition butterflies during COVID lockdown and it was a highlight in these crazy times. I also have her Sparklepuss walpaper that she collabed with Flavor paper. I have ordered her book, trays, chocolates, etc. Her staff is super sweet and so easy to work with. I just wish there were more people like her in this world. I've loved and followed and shared this artist for quite some time. I made a point to visit the gallery in NOLA and was up sold a commissioned piece on the spot, dropped a $5K deposit and six months later never heard back. Just so sad. I won't go into the details, you can PM if you want, but if you want a piece, hey I get it, she's a bad-ass artist, but buy off the wall. She's too "busy, and just one-person" (yeah, that's what I was told), to count on for a personally created, high priced, commissioned item. read more

Ashley Longshore's day in the sun has arrived. Definitely poke your head into the shop if you find yourself shopping on this block of Magazine Street. And by all means take a selfie or photo here. The gallery seems designed for it. Longshore's art is so cheerfully bright and irreverent, and a bit raunchy. So if you're easily offended, just roll on. The gallery was really beautiful but we came during a time when the staff was setting up a photo shoot of their new pieces so it was a bit crowded. The staff was rude when we were trying to take pictures with the sculptures and that ruined the experience for me. Wouldn't go again. read more

5 for the art, 1 for the service (only a 1 because somebody opened the door to let us in). I feel like I could have walked out of here carrying anything because we entered and then were immediately left alone. As a huge fan of Ashley's art and her give no fucks, everyone is welcome attitude, you can't imagine how excited I was to be in New Orleans and get to visit her gallery. Obviously I can't afford a $30,000 painting but I figured at the very least I could pick up a candle or one of her beaded purses I've had my eye on. All I know is that we entered and the person who let us in disappeared into the back. We wandered for about 10 minutes and it got uncomfortable so we left. I just felt disappointed because Ashley has such a specific presence online about inclusion and fun. I was so excited for that same experience in store and it didn't deliver. It's not the artist's fault of course and her work is fantastic and fresh and absolutely necessary in a fucked up world. But, today that message got lost on bad customer service. read more

A self-taught artist, Longshore first began to explore painting while a student at the University of Montana. She has earned comparisons to Andy Warhol due to her bold style and self-proclaimed pop culture obsession.

My paintings are representative of the world I see around me. I am inspired by pop culture and things that I find intriguing. I really like to combine the use of words and images in an unexpected way to create a smart, colorful bold statement. Most importantly my love of color is what really makes my artwork "POP". My paintings are statement pieces that are a reflection of the experiences I have in my life.

The food itself is good, on both occasions I felt the sashimi was well prepared and fresh. Other dishes didn't blow me away; the udon was fine (and it's cool that they bring it over a flame, so that it finishes cooking right in front of you). Overall worth a splurge for the unique experience more than the food, it's a nice place for a relaxing dinner in an intimate setting.

The reason the price was high because every single element of his Art makes people excited. Alexander Calder is the creator of the mobile, inspired by Piet Mondrian and Joan Miro. And the name 'mobile' given by Marcel Duchamp, very famous for the 'Fountain'. I was also very excited to see many art piece of Alexander Calder at once and never visited to buy and negotiate the price of the Art. My first time experience. Perfect! The Gagosian gallery area wasn't huge, but held a lot of pieces, both large and small. The staff encouraged me to not get too close, in order to protect the artwork, but I was still able to see the textures and to locate the little fun surprises hidden in the paintings. The Morgan Library is the setting for the bullet-ridden plot climax, and one of the characters even describes the building's architectural fortitude. I had been wanting to come here for some time, but it took drizzly weather to motivate us to take action. Completed in 1906 as the private library of the banker J.P. Morgan, it's on Madison just a few blocks from the other Gilded Age masterpieces, the New York Public Library and Grand Central Terminal. Presuming we would see the foreboding double doors Coalhouse Walker faced in the show, we were pleasantly surprised by the openness of the glass-enclosed central court designed by Renzo Piano. There's a cafe that takes advantage of the incoming light, but we took a pass on it since we just ate at Grand Brasserie. Instead we took advantage of the glass elevator to take us to the photographic exhibition of Peter Hujar, the late artist who captured New York's bohemian and queer scenes through striking black-and-white portraits (Photo 6). The main event, however, is the historic McKim Building: It was the original private library, and in typical grandeur, features three stories of tiered, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, magnificent fireplaces, ornate ceilings, and a gorgeous Rotunda (Photo 5). Throughout the year, different types of memorabilia are on display to the public before being auctioned. During my visit, I saw a wide variety of memorabilia from the Jim Irsay Collection. This included movie props, screenplays, music, sports, and autographs. I was especially impressed when I witnessed the Golden Ticket, a signed Babe Ruth baseball, and The Beatles drumset. Admission is free and complimentary cookies and coffee are served in the lobby. Due to the value of the merchandise, all visitors must pass through a metal detector. Large size bags are not allowed in the gallery, but they may be left at the Coat Check. The only disadvantage is that the exhibitions are temporary. Featuring two exhibits when I visited, one entitled peep show and the other Pistoletto I must admit I was rather taken aback by the frankly graphic nature of Peep Show, though certainly not offended - but rather intrigued and quite impressed by the photography displayed at Pistoletto. All told the exhibit contained about 2/3 as much art as Neue and 1/4 as much as Guggenheim - and was $10 and $18 cheaper than each, respectively - and I enjoyed the James staff and approach much more. On par with any of the Chelsea Galleries and better than most - and free.

The art studio is two levels, but apparently, in order to peruse the second level, you have to be "somebody" in this world -- meaning, affluence, influence, ya know....you better have that paper. I don't have that kind of paper, so my humble self stayed on the lower level lol. The selections were unique, some were comical, and simply fun to look at. The pieces are definitely pricey, but it was nice to see the art and dream of a mansion with expensive pieces adoring the walls. I'd say give this place a visit if you need something to do while in the city. 10/10

They manage a shell nyartcompetitions.com This is a formal complaint regarding NY Art Competitions due to a lack of clear and prominent disclosure of a mandatory $55 submission fee during the initial stages of the application process. The fee was only revealed at the final step after I had already invested significant time completing the submission. This created the impression of a bait-and-switch or drip pricing structure, where material cost information was not clearly presented upfront, resulting in applicants proceeding through a lengthy submission process without full awareness of the financial requirement. I spent a significant amount of time completing the application under the assumption that all key participation requirements, including fees, would be clearly disclosed at the outset. This lack of upfront transparency led to unnecessary time expenditure and confusion regarding the true cost of participation. I am requesting improved disclosure practices so that all mandatory fees are clearly and prominently stated at the beginning of the application process before users are required to invest time or submit materials. I am also requesting deletion of my submitted materials and personal information from their system and confirmation that this has been completed.

I viewed their "Horrorpilation" series. I didn't even know that was a real word, but yes! it is! And the subject matter here was perfect . . . creepy, unsettling, otherworldly. The gallery is wide, open. And honestly, it's lit better than any gallery I've ever seen. So often galleries have glaring lights that make it difficult to view or take photos of works. This setup was perfect. The wall colors were also amazing. Moody, dark, luscious. Perfect accompaniment to the artworks. The colors, the artwork, the lighting . . . this was so well thought out. I know The Hole is one of my new go-to galleries.

Looking back at past exhibitions, I would have enjoyed most of them: weird futuristic stuff, multiple colorful pieces under the name, "psychomania." I see some people mentioned the staff. I didn't have much interaction. I came in, they acknowledged my existence, and continued on with their business. In my experience, most galleries are like this. Sometimes desk attendants don't even acknowledge you at all. Most galleries, including this one, are free. Unless you're looking to buy or discuss specifically . . . what are we really complaining about here?

Of all the floors though, my award goes to the 5th floor, home of the A.C.A Gallery. The people running this gallery always seem very welcoming (and we know there are many galleries that aren't). I spent time at their current exhibit, "On the Edge" sketching and taking a couple photographs, and no one tried to hurry me along as I studied the ASTONISHING drawings by Edgar Jerins. The exhibit featured four unique artists who generally whip out works in drawing mediums....but A.C.A will rotate a variety of artists - next up is Grace Hartigan (from March 20th-May 3rd, 2008). Here's some good stuff to know: Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 10:30 - 6pm. Summer Hours: June 20 - August 18, Tuesday through Friday, 10:30 - 6pm. The gallery will be closed from August 19 - September 4.
