The reason why I hadn't gotten her into her own "apartment" or facility, is because of what my mind thought an assisted living facility was going to be. I didn't want my Grandmother to be in a place that wasn't well maintained, or where the staff were abusive in any way etc etc. All the horror stories that one hears about pertaining to elder care facilities. Well, The Granville is ANYTHING but! From the second we toured the location right before the pandemic, I was put at ease. The residents seemed happy, the entire place was decorated just beautifully and extremely clean, and the staff was just so nice! It really felt like home! The help and expertise that they provided to me in getting my Grandmother approved was also a Godsend, because all of the paperwork can be tricky for someone not familiar! My Grandmother's apartment was just so lovely too! She was able to decorate it how she wanted, and there is a little kitchenette area with a fridge and microwave so she can have her favorite snacks. She has been there over a year now and I couldn't have asked for a better location to have provided the utmost care during the pandemic. They even took the necessary precautions one week ahead of time before the Government shut everything down. To accommodate all the residents who now were unfortunately unable to leave their rooms, must have been such an undertaking!! But the staff still made my Grandmother and the other residents not feel neglected and forgotten about. Making little crafts and spending a little more time with the residents so they didn't feel so alone during this scary time. They went above and beyond making sure everyone was kept safe and stayed healthy and just did an incredible job and am so grateful to everyone at The Granville. I could go on and on about the staff being just perfect and everything I could have ever hoped for, for my Grandmother. If you have a loved one and you are feeling apprehensive about locating a place where you can rest easy at night knowing they're being cared for properly and with respect, then look no further. My Grandmother absolutely LOVES living at The Granville! She has made friends, still has her independence and adores the staff! I am eternally grateful for finding the Granville and cannot thank Sara, Joe, Kathy, Jamie, Mary and the rest of the entire staff for providing this location and the care that they give to someone that means SO much to me!

He was in a couple of other facilities that were below par before we found the Granville. From the moment we walked in, we felt that this was home. Sara, the executive director helped us with the transition paperwork and made it totally painless. The employees really make you feel like they are part of the extended family. Joe, Donna, Alicia, are just a few of the great "family" members that always have a friendly smile. I could go on and on about all of the wonderful things about the Granville. Since dad moved in I have had to move about 60 miles away and I would love to have him closer, but I haven't found any other facility that can match the Granville. For me, the drive is more than worth it to have him live here. The Granville is always clean, the employees are warm and friendly, activities are available, the meals nutritious, meds are accurate and the apartments wonderful. Since dad has lived here they have spent money on capital improvements to keep the facility in top shape and comfortable for their residence. There was, of course, staff turnover during those 5 years, but I never saw anyone that didn't hold Mom and the other residents in highest regard and treat them all with dignity. A beautiful example is when I let a prior staff member know Mom was near the end of her life, that person came back to visit her and give her one final hug. Times were turbulent during the pandemic, but with imaginative ideas, family members were able to continue to connect with loved ones. There were video calls, window visits, outdoor visits, and after vaccination, in person visits once again. Due to the vigilance of the people at AOH, Covid didn't find its way into Mom's house until omicron, at which time everyone was vaccinated. Mom tested positive, but was never symptomatic; her body gave up some weeks later but it wasn't due to the coronavirus. Mom was content and happy at Applewood - and I will be eternally grateful for everyone who took such good care of her.

In the past year I have seen: A woman I love become coherent one to two days per month. I came in on my day off to chat with her. The "ladies of Upham" reenact high school with all the hilarious drama. Petting zoo, visiting singer, aquarium visit, park visits, coffee shop outings, visiting guitarist/humorist, visiting pianist, high school carolers, fishing trip, and bowling alley outing for the residents, families and staff. A wonderfully sweet and kooky 92-year-old woman make a full recovery after coming down with the flu. A man go through a scare where his pulse dropped and his face turned blue, only to be perfectly fine the next day. A woman who said to me, "quick, go get the chickens before the plane lands, they can't go to Australia." There is a high turnover rate in EVERY caregiving company; this job is listed as the #1 most stressful job by msn for a reason! In other companies we are told "side hugs only" and that "no, we can't do this or that because it is too expensive." At Applewood, from the top down, they care about people. I try my best to treat my residents like close family. I feel supported and am happy to work here. When my wife needed memory care, we visited some facilities in Lakewood that were a reasonable…read moredistance from our home. The last place we toured was Crossroads Memory Care. The contrast was palpable. I realized how sterile and commercial the other places were. Sure they were new and fancy, but Crossroads is also beautiful and less than nine years old. My gut said that Crossroads was warm and caring, and I couldn't have been more right about that. The staff are amazing. They genuinely care about every resident and treat them with respect and kindness. They are never too busy to talk with a resident no matter how illucid that person may be, and they make them laugh. The caregivers go out of their way to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable, and they know the name of every resident. Crossroads provides lots of fun activities and serves delicious meals. The place is very clean and nice-smelling. It's also telling that the Executive Director's office is in the same area as the residents and that she keeps her door open for residents to drop in anytime. I feel so lucky to have my beloved wife in their excellent care.

A family member of ours living in Denver with parkinson's and anxiety who was living at home alone, was taken here for rehabilitation when she had fallen. During her time in Gardens on Quail's nursing home she was able to recover, but decided to stay. She, as well as our family, decided that it was a safer and better lifestyle to continue living under the care of Gardens on Quail's nurses. Since moving in, her anxiety has been much less severe, and she has made many new friends. Not to mention that it is a beautiful place to call home. Many of our family members are living in Denver, so it makes for an easy drive being located just outside the city in Arvada. Thank you Gardens on Quail for superb service, we appreciate it!

I've worked in the field for 8 years ( so as you can imagine, I've had training and experience in several facilities) This place was absolutely draining, on all levels. The façade of a beautiful building, and well lit gardens, and exceptional " Care provided to the residents" is absolute delusion. I have watched our team, my residents whom I provide care to, and my own well being turn completely downhill, which is why I feel the need to speak on this. Management and HR are not friendly, or welcoming or empathetic towards care staff at all, instead they are rude and entitled and walk the building with nothing but a higher demeanor, than those who actually provide care to these residents and work extremely hard on the floor providing care, and respect and constant interaction to these residents. I have not had a single, welcoming or open minded- conversation with any management since our previous HR has left the building. I have instead ran into conversations where those who do their jobs, and do an amazing job at it, are consistently belittled by HR and management. Yet, those who are lazy but favorited by management are constantly allowed passes for behaviors and LACK of care to these residents. The job itself is stressful, yes. But we all get into this field even as Caregivers to do our jobs and do the best we can. We also have lives outside of work environments, and some harder than others. This is where survival mode and flight of fight play a role- but to those that show up everyday and WORK THE FLOOR- we are discarded and picked apart -daily, but also while being extremely understaffed and drained ourselves. Yet still- NO support from our HR or ED or management as a whole. I have never felt so out of touch with a work environment claiming to do so much good for these residents- meanwhile disregarding and completely out of touch with their employees whom actually work with these residents and are the ones providing care. Pay compensation and expectations are not lined up at all. all this goes to say- Please DO BETTER, for our residents, for your care staff. for OURSELVES. No job should be or feel this draining on every level.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. After multiple phone calls and emails, I received no response. I eventually realized that the primary focus of Innovage is to enroll people into their healthcare system and to make money rather than help families navigate Medicaid assistance. I felt like my questions about Medicaid is why I got no response. This was not only a complete waste of time, but also an emotionally difficult experience. I truly believed there was a path to getting my 95-year-old mother into an assisted living community in Golden, only to find out that the assistance I was told was available wasn't actually being provided. Families facing these difficult decisions deserve clear, honest communication from the beginning. I hope Applewood improves the way they set expectations so others don't go through the same disappointment and my advice is steer clear of Innovage!!

Their word to the residents is that the manager/director over the restaurant, Nicole, is extremely hard to work with and that the chefs just find work elsewhere rather than continuing to work with her. Apparently she asked a chef (2 chefs ago) to unload a truck - not in his job responsibilities, so he left. We are actively looking elsewhere for our mother, which is a great shame. This place had it's act together 3 years ago - and now seems lost and in a bad state.
