After Mike's mother, Barbara, wandered out alone on Friday, May 12, and we were told by her assisted living facility that we had to get one-on-one care or move her out that day; we were in shock! We scrambled to get round-the-clock home care for Barbara that day and were successful in that. With one-on-one home care being so expensive, we knew we had to move her to a memory care community quickly, but didn't know where to start looking in Denver since we live in Oklahoma. We were then referred to Oasis Senior Advisors--Daphne and Lisa by a friend of Mike's cousin. We called them immediately and were very impressed with how understanding, kind and reassuring they were. Words do not adequately describe how knowledgeable, supportive and caring they are. They asked for the weekend and Monday to get together a list of memory care communities with immediate availability that they personally go to check. We flew to Denver that Tuesday morning, and Daphne and Lisa took us to see three places that day and two places the next day! All had a room available and were clean and nice and staffed with very kind and patient people. We picked the one we thought fit Barbara the best and moved her in on that Friday morning, May 19! Daphne and Lisa were there every step of the way with recommendations and even came to the signing in. They helped us mark and hang up Barbara's clothes and make her bed! All of this personal service and knowledge and kindness were without a single penny charged to us! To say the least, Daphne and Lisa were a God-send for Barbara and her family. This year I needed to support my mother in transitioning to assisted living. My mother lives in Colorado and I live in California and am preparing to give birth to my first baby. With living in a different state during COVID times and being pregnant I was not able to physically be present in Colorado to help look for places for my mother to transition. We were facing a move across country for parents with different needs, and we had no one at their destination who could help us start our search for housing. An eldercare agency that provided legal and financial services recommended Lisa and Daphne help us with housing. Lisa and Daphne did so much more! They started helping even before they had a list of possible options for Mom to visit: Through their network, they helped find a phenomenal pro to handle downsizing, selecting movers, packing and relocating at the originating end. Lisa and Daphne put together a list of relocation options with comprehensive notes based on our parents' specific needs and considerations. Mom and Dad ended up moving into an apartment, but Lisa and Daphne remained in touch anyway and kept Mom apprised of options for Dad if his care needs increased. When it became clear Dad did need more care, we were able to act quickly to get him situated. Through it all, Lisa and Daphne stayed in touch with all of us, long-distance. They are empathetic to the caregiving parent, patient with adult children's never-ending questions, responsive across time zones, and tireless in their efforts to find solutions. I am writing this as the daughter of a very stubborn 75 year old who is very mobile and healthy, but needed to move to a memory center for her own safety. Adult Protective Services in Arapahoe County was involved because my mother had suffered a terrible fall living alone. This is how I learned about Oasis Senior Advisors: both Liza and Daphne came very highly recommended by my mom's social worker. I did not know where to turn to, and deciding that my mom really did need to move to assisted living was not an easy or light decision. After suffering a stroke in Spring 2020, my uninsured father needed support in urgently reviewing options for long-term care, especially since he had to pay for his hospital stay out-of-pocket. Lisa offered a great deal of insight from personal experiences, she located 3 local nursing homes that were accepting patients during the COVID pandemic and would accept my father's need to pay without insurance. Moreover, she got us in touch with a Medicare Insurance Broker who could assist my father in getting coverage. Navigating these situations is tricky in general, but that difficulty can be compounded when family members are physically struggling, too.
