If I could give a negative star I would. I went to the store and purchased a couch, the sales rep was very nice and said the couch will be delivered in 5 days. However once I paid for the couch they said their printers were down and I couldn't receive the policy paperwork, I said no problem email it to me as they said they would. Next day still no paperwork. I called and the number goes to corporate and they said sorry we will send to you but nope still no policy paperwork to read over. The couch arrived and the driver asked me to sign saying I received which I did. They left I sat in on the couch and worst couch I ever sat in, as hard as a plyboard not the same as the store model. I called them to complain and all I get was sorry according to policy you had the right to refuse before the driver left so now no returns are allowed but they offered to finally send me the policy so I can read it over.... They said may require a break-in period which is well and dandy but if I cant sit in it without every bone killing me then no I cant break it in. I went online and yes the couch is offered in 3 levels of softness so the store model is soft and the one they sent was hard as rock. We purchased a bedroom set, in store at the DURHAM, NC location. SORRY to post this on the Raleigh site but I could not find a way to post on the Durham SITE. Looked and looked for link !!! Anyway, the sales consultant was very professional, patient and pleasant. He suggested an under the bed rug as an accessory we liked it so we added it. We asked about the rug being put down and were told that the delivery would include getting everything set up. On delivery day we were told that don't do rug installation!!! so they put in the whole bedroom set and left the (under the bed rug), in a corner unsealed!! during the delivery they chipped my footboard, so they had to bring a new footboard, they did that today and I asked,,,, again could the rug be put down and again..... was told they don't do it. Called customer service and spoke to 3 very nice people but only to get to where we were told the 3 party delivers can do or not do this, it is at their discretion. Ok well had I know this we would not have bought the rug!!! So then I requested to just return the rug and was told that returns have to made in 3 days!! My husband and I cannot lift the bed to lay the rug, which means we have to try to hire and pay someone, and we didn't want to do that, so we were going to return it, but now we can't do that!!! I feel certain that the salesman did not know this could happen!! But I think it's important that other people know!!! !We were very specific in store about our situation, but yet we are now stuck with a $170 rug that we only bought because we liked it and thought it would put it like everything else. I rated a 3 because the rest of the furniture is nice, so I l felt comfortable with OK and Maybe this is different for the Raleigh Store, but if you are dealing with Durham keep in mind that 3 party delivery does not do RUGS!!!!!!!!!! #verydisappointed read more

My husband and I purchased a bedroom suite from Ashley Furniture in Durham back in April. The furniture, mattress, and box spring were delivered on May 6--but we were told the bed frame was on backorder and wouldn't arrive until June. In early July, I noticed the mattress (less than two months old) was already collapsing at the top right corner. I called customer service, and they sent a technician out on July 15. He was shocked at the condition and approved a replacement. The new mattress arrived on July 25, which was also the same day our long-awaited bed frame was delivered--only to find out they sent the wrong bed frame. Yes, the one we had waited nearly two months for was incorrect. To make matters worse, we were told we could not choose a different mattress, even though the original one failed so quickly--so we had no choice but to accept the same model again. On August 14, the correct bed frame and replacement mattress were delivered. The delivery team assembled the frame and placed the box spring--which we were told we needed to purchase, but didn't--on top of the slats. I contacted a manager, Shameika, who agreed that we should be refunded for the unnecessary box spring and said another tech would be sent out because the second mattress was already showing signs of collapsing. I followed up with Service, who told me they couldn't schedule an appointment right away but would contact me the following week. I waited until Friday--no call. When I followed up, they finally scheduled a tech visit for September 4. When the tech, Hank, arrived, he also seemed surprised at the condition of the second mattress. While trying to take measurements, his measuring pole wouldn't stay in place due to the mattress sinking. Shortly after he left, I received a text message saying there was nothing they could do, and that we would need to wait another 90 days for another review of the mattress. This mattress cost us over $2,400. We're now on our second one in less than four months, and they expect us to wait another three months for another inspection? That is completely unreasonable. Since then, I've called customer service multiple times and keep getting transferred back and forth between departments. They refuse to let me speak with a manager, and at one point, a representative even hung up on me. At this point, we are beyond frustrated and disappointed. We will never shop at Ashley Furniture again, and we are asking them to pick up this mattress and issue a full refund. I ordered a bed room set a month ago. The first two delivery attempts failed because although they were in my apartment complex, they couldn't be bothered with finding the apartment. On the third try they delivered the set minus the correct platform to the platform bed. When I called, they said they would deliver it the next Friday. Nobody showed on Friday. So I called again and they said Wednesday was the delivery date. On Wednesday they showed up with the same wrong platform, two twin platforms for a king bed instead of a queen platform. At this point, I just want to return the furniture and get my money back to go someplace else. Their customer service is unhelpful and they obviously don't know how to fix their own mistakes. Purchased nearly $7K worth of furniture from this location and had it delivered yesterday. The delivery team ripped the arm off the sofa couch and tried to screw it back on but it was still broken in my home. When I tried to refuse delivery I was told I was not allowed and they didn't speak English they stormed out of my home and left water bottles in my front yard. I called the customer care line, received no answers. Called Eric our sales rep who was out of the office and was told I would receive an update today. He didn't go to work today either and I was told the manager was working on it. I called the store was on hold for 10 minutes then transferred to customer care without being allowed to talk to a manger. In order to cancel or return the order for a broken couch I'd be charged a restocking fee and 10% of my order. To have an exchange I have to take off work AGAIN (after I did yesterday for the first delivery) or have a broken couch for 18 days. This level of customer service from Ashley is not acceptable, I've shopped for years and have been a loyal customer and recommended them for their customer service. I'm extremely appalled at the lack of regard for my time and given no repriocity for my experience. WARNING! Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY FURNITURES FROM THIS PLACE. After purchasing a sofa, complete bedroom set, coffee table, end tables ,extra insurance, I was fool by the sales people who told me that they would replace or fix anything that would go wrong with the furniture. 4 month into having our sofa, the couch started to sag. The materials are cheap and frame of the sofa is low quality. When I placed the complain, the operator was not helpful and rude. he stated that the extra insurance I paid for was only good for 24 hours. He said that why didn't I read the fine prints before buying the furnitures. After being on the phone for an hour and arguing with the people at Ashley furniture, I was given an appointment for a furniture maker to come to my home and repaired it. I had no idea that they would replace the cushions and that's it! The bottom of the sofa and the frame are done so cheap that the guy who came said that that's the way they make big profits and that I got the short end of the deal with them. He didn't hound us and respected us by giving us the time and space we needed to look around the store. At the same time, he was attentive and eager to answer any questions we had. After the sale, he went above and beyond to get a clearance item from another store. He took care of it himself so that we didn't have to drive to the another store across town to pick it up. I had a terrible experience with this store, and Ashley furniture in general. I get angry every time I look at my sofa! I ordered and waited nearly 2 months for delivery, only to be told the night before delivery (less than 12 hours!) that my sofa was not going to be delivered, and they didn't know when. I had to cancel my housewarming party that I'd been planning for 6 weeks. Then I was delivered a BROKEN sofa. After complaining, another piece of the sectional was delivered, and this time the delivery folks scratched my new floors, and NO ONE will pay for the damage. The replacement had torn fabric. I was told they would send a technician to repair it. Fabric was sent 6 months ago and Ashley customer service IGNORES me and never sent a tech to fix the damaged cuddler piece. Worst furniture experience, from delivery to quality to customer service. Ordered a dining table/chairs with a firm commitment date due to a family event. After several phone calls to them, I finally received the table, but no chairs. First, the table was damaged and couldn't be used. The chairs were delivered weeks later which they said was due to the delivery truck involvement in an accident that destroyed the load. The table was repaired, which wasn't done properly, therefore finally replaced 3 months after the initial purchase. They told me to call back and ask for compensation when it was all said and done. When I called back they told me I waited too long to call back with the request and nothing could be given at that time. WORST company I've ever dealt with. read more

The crew there was nice and very helpful, the couch however is awful. We bought the couch and didn't get the extended warranty, thinking 'its a couch and we don't have kids, what could go wrong?' Well... Within the first month, a piece underneath the couch busted. The piece itself wasn't broken, it just came undone due to a poor nailing job. They make a point in the store of telling you everything is made to order, but the craftsmanship underneath looks more like a rushed mass manufactured piece. We bought the couch in April, it's now December of the same year, and this couch is creaky, saggy, uncomfortable, and feels like it could break if we sit on it wrong. Never buying from Ashley Homeatores or any store like it ever again. Edit: One more detail. Our couch is a sectional, meant yo provide lots of room. When more people than just my wife and I sit on the couch, it feels like the couch is going to break under us. I'm constantly having to remind people to gingerly sit in the couch. read more

Terrible customer service after they accept your money. Two times now my delivery came and two times I have had damaged furniture. The first delivery came 3 days after my in-store purchase. The next delivery happened yesterday, 4 weeks after my initial in-store purchase. The 3rd delivery will now be October 6, which would be 7 weeks after my initial in-store purchase. The customer service line is different from the store. The customer service line 3 weeks ago informed me that I would be compensated for the inconvenience after the final delivery occurred, I stated that was unacceptable and they said "ok, someone will call you within 24 hours to discuss compensation". That call never occurred. If I were to at all no longer want the furniture that is taking me 7 weeks to receive I would be charged 10%. So incompetence on their end costs me money for being frustrated. And the compensation would be for a rebate off of my next Ashley Homestore purchase...that is unlikely. read more

My first experience with Ashley Furniture was in 2014 when I ordered a living room set. They were not delivered on the date agreed because they could not find my address. It was rescheduled for a later date (interestingly enough my Ashley bill got to my address). I received by delivery weeks after and the sofa and love seat color didn't match so I refused the delivery and had to wait another few weeks for them to reorder my set from the warehouse. I got the 2nd delivery and I got 2 love seats instead of a love seat and sofa. Again I refused the delivery and had to wait to receive furniture I had already made a deposit for and was making payment on. It took like 2 months to get my correct order. Ashley promised me a gift card as compensation for my troubles which I never received. I needed coffee tables and decided to give Ashley another shot...what was I thinking? I ordered a coffee table set. It was set to be delivered 12/17/16, when it was delivered the coffee table was damaged. I guess the merchandise is not inspected before delivery. This has been my second purchase from Ashley and my last. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Now I get why people shop for furniture at places like rent a center and Aaron's which although have higher prices have better customer service than Ashley Furniture. Warning I wish I would have done my research and looked at all of the reviews before I even went in this store. Sales people were very nice and helpful during the purchase process. However once you sign the dotted line, all of that goes away. We were given a delivery date, of which we waited about 2 to 3 weeks for our purchase to arrive. Threw out all of our old furniture and patiently waited only to be disappointed. We ordered a sofa and loveseat and a complete bedroom set period of which we received the sofa and loveseat and a bed. Asked where the rest of our things were, and was told it may have been on backorder. Not one time did we receive any communication in regards to Pieces not being available at the time of delivery. I then refused all of it and told the delivery guys to take it all back. The delivery guys called the customer service to let them know I was refusing delivery. They refused to take it back . The customer service agent then got a major attitude with me and told me I would be charged a 10% restocking fee and a 10% cancellation fee. Really? So you offered a service to me that you could not provide, nor did you inform me when you realized you couldn't provide the service, so really, who's misrepresenting, and false advertising? This has been a disaster! Both my husband and I took off of work for this! The general manager called us upon seeing my review on Yelp which I posted 5 minutes after this happened, and offered a discount for our troubles. That's fine and dandy but that still does not take back the fact that you did not communicate to me that we would not be receiving all of it, and nor can you give back the day of work we missed, and the inconvenience this has caused. A simple phone call advising us that we would not receive our stuff and to reschedule for another time would have been the courteous and ethical thing to do to avoid conflict and a dissatisfied customer. I really have zero stars for this company as a whole. Furniture is attractive and economical, but service, quality and overall experience is TERRIBLE!!! I will never, ever shop with them again. It takes entirely too long to get the furniture. We recently moved and ordered approximately $5000 worth of furniture. It took over a month to get each piece. Some pieces took longer than others. 2 out of 3 of the furniture sets were broken within days. A furniture repair man had to come out on 2 separate occasions and could only repair 1 if the pieces. Not to mention or focus on the scheduling for the repairs being a very flawed process in itself. 1 of the sets came and delivery guys refused to carry the furniture up the stairs. They didn't even try. But, I can let that slide because it was hard work getting the sectional up the stairs (had to do it myself). Nevertheless, at that point I was finally relieved to have all the furniture. What do you know, day 2 of having the sectional, it breaks. The frame came apart at the joint from just sitting on it. Ok, after determining it couldn't be fixed, Ashley refused to refund the purchase. They only offered to exchange it for the same piece or give a 10% store credit. What a terrible business. We bought a bed frame and mattress here last month, and the mattress they showed us on the floor was NOT what was delivered this week. We were shown a much higher quality, firm, full mattress and told we were buying the twin version of it. What we got was a dramatically overpriced, crappy piece of foam. When we called to complain after delivery, we were first given the runaround and then informed we could not return it because they only accept returns on certain brands of mattresses (not this one) -- even though the contract explicitly says you have 24 hours to send it back if the product is unsatisfactory, and that is also what we were told when we bought it in the store. We were sent to three different phone numbers and told three different things. Now we're stuck with with a piece of crap mattress. Definitely won't be shopping here again. read more

Everything about my experience with Ashley (beyond the moment when my credit card was charged) has been a nightmare. When I was assembling my order, I was told my furniture would take one week to be delivered from the point of purchase. I had them hold my order until I was ready to buy (I was told the order, which contained special sale prices would be saved indefinitely), then called and gave the go-ahead. (1) The sales rep mysteriously couldn't find my order with the sales prices (fortunately I found the email). (2) After charging the card, I was told that my couch would be delivered in TWO weeks, my bed in FOUR weeks, and my chair in 2.5 MONTHS. Because I was in the midst of a move, I just went ahead with it, even though I already felt misled. To be clear, splitting the delivery meant giving up three Saturdays to sit at home and wait for furniture (they give you a 3-hour delivery window and they don't contact you until 36 hours before the delivery to tell you when that will be, so you basically can't plan your day). The first delivery was fine. The second delivery (of my bed) seemed fine util (3) I noticed there were no horizonatal slats on the bedframe to support the mattreess. The dlivery person said "You need a box spring or a bunky board." To my mind, if I purchase a piece of furniture that requires something else to make it usable, I ought to be told this at the point of sale. I called the store and they said I should have order a bunky board (who has even heard of this?!?). I was told they could see about having one delivered, one week minimum. Meanwhile, I now have an assembled bed in my room (mattress leaned against the wall with no way to sleep on it). I was told there was nothing I could do until I lost my cool and then "magically" they found a bunky board in the store They wanted to charge me $100 and they expected me to come pick it up (when I paid for delivery and assembly of a functional bed). I yelled some more and "magically" two sales reps delivered the bunky to my home, at which point I noticed . . . (4) . . . the bed frame had been misassembled (the headboard was installed backward and the side rails were bowing out). I called customer care the next day. They did not call me back for two days, at which point I was told that one of their "specialists" would be out to resolve the issue. I told the rep that I could not be home until after 2:00 on the scheduled day. She said she would note that in the request. Two days later I received an email, text and phone call stating that a new bed (5) -- NOT specialist care -- would be delivered between (6) 12:00-3:00 (NOT after 2:00), and that I could cancel the delivery or be charged $79. I called customer care and was transferred to a manager. She told me she would "partner with the delivery team to resolve my issue." (7) She told me she would call me back within 20 minutes (she called back over an hour later to say there was no resolution but she would call me by the end of the day tomorrow (the day before the scheduled delivery). I called her twice the following day--because I kept getting texts/emails/phone calls saying I would be charged $79 if I weren't there to receive the order and I had already said I couldn't be there; and because the delivery time had been changed to (8) 11:30-2:30, even less possible for me. I cancelled the order to avoid this fee. The manager finally called me back and told me it would be delivered between 2:00-3:00. I told her I had cancelled the order and she assured me it didn't matter. (9) It is now 4:40 and my order is not here. I have spent HOURS on the phone with customer care, and HOURS (amounting to a full day) waiting in my home for these deliveries. (10) And to add insult to injury, while you wait on hold to speak to customer care, you listen to a recorded message, set to swing music, saying "Here at Ashley Furniture we think buying furniture should be easy, exciting, and fun!" Again . . . DO NOT BUY FROM ASHLEY FURNITURE. You WILL lose your mind. Your time would be better spent driving to IKEA and assembling furniture with an allen wrench. read more

Bought a table off display and wasn't even notified of an existing crack in the frame. Was then sold a protection plan that doesn't even cover the frame of the table. I ordered a bookcase, counter height table w/4 bar chairs & bench and a queen size leather sleeper sofa(ordered in May)My delivery was scheduled for June.Couch had a tear, chairs were back ordered.The only thing I accepted was the bookcase.I have been going round &round w/these folks since June.Today 9/5/17 my delivery is set .All my pieces are delivered. We ordered a sofa and king bed frame back at Thanksgiving. We were told 6-10 weeks which we understood. However 10 weeks came with one text message saying it wasn't ready. I called and texted trying to get an update and they couldn't provide one. Finally, after repeatedly asking they said maybe 14 weeks and that they would have the store call me within 48 hours. They they never did. Two weeks later and still nothing. I had to reach back out to try and get an update. Now I find out that it is going to possibly be March 18. I understand manufacturing has been impacted by COVID but the lack of communication is unacceptable. We would have spent our money elsewhere had we know it was this bad. Buyer beware. read more

Basically the worst shopping experience I have ever had in a furniture store. We were just there to look around and the sales lady kept pestering us and following us around after we repeatedly told her we would come find her if we needed anything. Her attitude was not genuine and she was blantantly trying to get her commission. She even told us to make sure to come back when she was there so she could "give us the best service possible" and get her commission. It was such a turnoff I will likely avoid ever stepping foot in an Ashley HomeStore again. read more

Troubleshooter should be called for Ashley Durham Store. Very disappointed by the lies and trouble with delivery from the store. I was hung up on by Dwayne Rick and given date after date for a simple bed set up. Delivery staff unapproachable and dirty and not to mention lazy. All communication has been lies this has been by far the worst customer experience I have ever encountered. We will be going back to Rooms to Go for Sure. read more

Had an awful phone call with the manager of this store. We had ordered a couch set June 2nd with the expectation it would be available June 28th. Several pushbacks later, we were looking at a October 3rd delivery date, several months after we had sold our old couch in preparation for the delivery. We had canceled the order, which is a process that starts with the Ashley Furniture corporate folks and is then completed on the brick-and-mortar side by the salesperson that originally worked with the client. Buyer beware: this is truly a sales scheme that involves the original salesperson calling you to try to convince you to keep your original product at a discounted price. Only this time, it was a store manager since our original salesperson no longer worked at the store. He pitched giving me 500 off the original financed price, which was generous. It did not, however, change my intention as I had already secured a delivery with a competitor. When I divulged the competitor, he concluded the call with a classic line: that the competitor was the worse furniture company and he would await my call after my delivery was delayed and the furniture was all dinged up. I'll protect his privacy and not drop his name, but this guy is a jerk with poor business ethics. If I'm not satisfied with your business and want to take my business elsewhere, that's my prerogative. Shaming me for my choice is no way to drum up your own business. I look forward to never working with him again, and hope you think twice before making a purchase from the Ashley Furniture store in New Hope Commons in Durham, NC. read more

Very easy and pleasent process! Randy was very helpful in helping me choose the bed I needed and it arrived two days after I placed the order with him in store. Our experience was completely positive. Greg, the sales rep, helped us find the furniture that was right for us without being aggressive or pushy. He answered our questions. We received the chair one week after ordering. The delivery men were prompt and polite. The furniture arrived in good shape. Really, I can find no reason to complain.
