Bought a sectional here two and a half years ago. I also got the extender protection plan for the furniture. Want to try to file a claim for cleaning, it was denied by the service company. Ashley is claiming that they have no responsibility in this. I paid the protection plan money to ashley, as far as I'm concerned they have everything to do with this. This company uses shady tactics, deceitful practices, and they flat out lie to customers. GBS, the company that was previously contracted by Ashley Furniture LLC as a third party protection plan provider, has denied a customer claim for furniture cleaning. It is my understanding that this particular company, GBS, is known to routinely deny service claims from customers who purchased the service plan protection from Ashley Furniture. $399.99 was charged by Ashley Furniture for a sectional couch protection plan. It was a hard pitch by the store manager, insisting the value and ease of filling a cleaning out repair claim. Manager went on and on about how any damage- accidental or structural as well as any stains - would be taken care of by the service company. They would clean, fix, or replace parts as needed. Two and a half years later, when the customer tried to file a claim, it was denied by the service company. The customer has been unable to get the promised service, and had been in the middle of Ashley Furniture and GBS, attempting to get resolution to no avail. Both companies are pointing the resolution finger at the other party. I strongly urge all consumers to stay far away from Ashley Furniture. read more

We bought a couch and love seat from here, 2 years ago, not cheap. The couch started to sag and the cushions went flat, at 6 months. Tried to get someone out, we stupidly bought warranty. They wanted us to jump through a bunch of hoops, like tip couch over find brand sticker, take pictures etc before even trying to send some one out. All that information was on the receipt. At 67 that was ridiculous and too hard for us to do. We knew something was wrong with couch, so recently my husband cut it up in pieces and saw that it had no springs, just a two by four and a bent piece of metal holding it together. It's fantastic to see something coming in the place of the old Toys "R" Us. It's been empty for a little while. It's a really great big location for such a store too. Hope they stick around for a while. Dr. Dre asked if we needed any help. We said we were just looking around. He told us we needed help to call him out. And gave us his name. We did a double take when he told us his name. We were asked by another associate if we wanted help on the other side of the store. I have got to say I was warned about buying furniture from Ashley but bought a bedroom set anyway. The dressing chest is warped and the drawers are difficult to open and the sliding piece on the chest scrapes and stickes. Technician came out twice and in his report he said everything is fine! after he had admitted to me there was still a problem and said he would put it in his report. Well he did not!!! He lied- now Ashley furniture will not replace the piece. I am contacting the BBB and a local new station that handles customer product issues. NEVER EVER AGAIN- worst company I have ever dealt with. This place is absolutely horrible. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to shop at this place. My wife and I bought a couch from them nearly two months ago. We had it returned because it didn't fit. The day of the return we went into the store and asked for a refund. A store associate helped us and told us to expect a refund in about 5 business days. About two weeks later, we go back to the store because we still had not seen the refund. This time, we spoke to our original salesman, Muhammad Alim, and another representative, Kiya. They told us that we could only receive in-store credit and not a refund. We asked why we weren't told this at the time of purchase, or even the last time we came in and asked for a refund? Her response was that the store manager, who was on the phone with her, was the one telling her this and it was out of her control. She also said she had only been with the company for two months. At this point, we asked her to have the store manager call us the next day to discuss. Funny enough, we never got a call. So, we called corporate and explained the situation. The person we talked to said they had no idea why the store employee would tell us such a thing as their policy is to issue refunds through the medium used at time of purchase. They told us to expect a refund within 5 business days. Five days came and went, and we called back. This time, they said they would issue the refund by the end of the week, which was two days away. We have finally received our refund, but it was such a needless process. The absolute worst. I originally had a good experience until I had an issue. I dealt with the store manager Layli at the John R location in MI. She literally lied to me. I purchased an item that they only sold online so I asked if I could return if I didn't like it. I was told yes to the distribution center, not a problem. I was never told that once you take possession it's yours. No returns unless you buy the extended warranty why she didn't tell me that to begin with?! I would have bought it being unsure that I liked the product having not seen it. Then I called with an issue, the laminate was pulling away from the product upon delivery. She told me to just glue it. All I wanted was the piece that was pulling away replaced not the whole thing. I Called customer service,you only have 3days to do that, again wasn't told that. Nothing was conveyed to me at the time of sale, in fact she told me to review my item and let them know if anything was wrong with it. This was terrible service at the point of sale. Layli was all nice and friendly and helpful until she got my money then It was like sorry fool on you! Do NOT purchase anything from her specifically and hopefully if you make a purchase at this store you are told the whole truth. Get all the information. Luckily the person I spoke with at customer service was helpful. She even read to me what Layli said after I spoke to her on the phone, making me look like I was the problem. They ordered the wrong item for me and charged me more. On April 02, 2024 I bought a power rocker recliner from store associate "Paul." Had to be ordered online. It's now April 16th and I have no update on the status of the order. I called his number that he gave me but never answered and never called back. It was only recently that I found out that Paul ordered the "manual" recliner on accident but charged me for the power recliner price ($200 more!). I would not buy anything here. Unless you can walk out the door with it. I attempted to buy a $169 printer table...first they wanted two forms of id. What? Why? For what? I refused to give them my drivers license info just to buy a table. It just seemed weird. No I was not getting a loan. They blamed it on potential fraud and said everybody does it. To which I replied, "If I go to buy groceries they're going to demand my drivers license info?" Plus I was using Apple Pay which verifies my identity at the point of sale. As I was about to leave they said they can use "the blue light" instead which they use for verifying checks which just verifies it's a valid id by glowing a logo. I said, fine, whatever...I figure it probably scanned my info in to their computers at the same time but really have no idea. The sales person had all this paperwork to sign which I also thought was weird. I'm just buying a table. I told her they had my e-mail all jacked...she told me to write it on the form and she'd fix it afterward. I actually thought I was going to leave with the table but she said delivery would be in 7-10 days. Whatever. A few days later I look at the paperwork and the official boilerplate language says delivery will be in 2-16 weeks. Potentially 4 months?! WTF?! The next morning I call their 800 Guest Care number which it says to call if you have questions about delivery. First, I get an Indian woman that barely speaks English..again, whatever. I ask her about the delivery date. She says she can't provide any information on the delivery because it's on layaway. I say, "Layaway? What does that mean? What does that mean to you?" She says it means you haven't paid for it yet." I'm like, "What are you talking about? I'm sitting here looking at a paid receipt printed off your computers! It shows the amount paid and says $0.00 due! And there is the charge on my card." She says, "All I can do is put in a ticket with the local store to get it taken out of layaway status and someone from the store will contact you." I replied, "When would that be? I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number." She says, "3 business days." I said "3 days!? I could just order a different one on Amazon and have it delivered in 2 days" I said, "While I have you on the phone can you tell me what you have for my e-mail address?" She repeats the jacked one on the paperwork. It didn't get corrected. While I'm looking more closely I see that they have a misspelling in my street name and my last name. I ask the lady if she can correct all my info. She replies she's not allowed to do that. I said, "It has the street name misspelled...it wouldn't even make it to my house!" I said "Forget it. This is all just too ridiculous, just cancel my order please." Their cancelation instructions says you can cancel within 48 hours of delivery date and if it's after that 48 hours you'll be charged the delivery fee. She says, "I'm sorry I can't cancel it because it's in layaway status. I need to create a ticket to take it out of layaway status and after they do that I can cancel it. What would you like me to do? Would you like me to create a ticket or no?" I said, "I want you to do what you need to do to cancel the order." After she did her ticket thing, I hung up and called the credit card company to dispute the charge. I don't trust this company and so took control of it from my end to get the money refunded. What a weird, disorganized, non-customer friendly company. Unless you can pay and walk out with it, like it's on clearance, then just stay away. Ordered a different table on Wayfair for half the price with free delivery arriving in 2 days. read more

We went into the Madison Heights location just to browse and start searching for our next living room furniture pieces. I didn't realize the store was closing in 45 minutes from our arrival. My furniture specialist, Brisa, was amazing! She was very friendly, helpful, and patient. She gave us fantastic recommendations and we ended up buying that same night! She was not pushy or overly aggressive at all. I feel I got the best deal and value, and met my new furniture specialist for future purchases. We purchased a dining room table from Ashley Home Store and it arrived to us at the beginning of October. It came damaged so they let us keep it until the replacement came. I heard nothing about the replacement so at the end of October I called. They said it's coming to use around the beginning of November. Two weeks go by in November and I called again. Now they said it will be to us at the end of November and once again it did not come. I called last week and a store manager said it's 4 to 6 weeks out. So we went to Gardner-White and we found a beautiful table and it's being delivered in a few days. I called Ashley Home Store to inform them to not send a replacement and asked if they could pick up the damaged table. The store manager Lydia said that the table has been discontinued. And they won't take the table back and they are only giving us 30% of our money back. So you were going to keep us waiting for a table that was never going to come? I ordered a dining set of 6 from them, and their Customer service is the WORST. 1st of all they attempted the delivery thrice with mismatching chairs and tables, 2nd time they forgot to bring the table, and 3rd time brought in damaged chairs. After that I complained 2 chairs out of the 6 are damaged and reached out to my sales person, customer care, store everywhere I could but they just kept saying someone will reach out but no one has still bothered to reach out and replace those chairs. Truck arrives without our knowledge while we are out of town, and then reschedules with confirmation and a four hour time frame a week later. Sat all day receiving messages "we are almost there", " we are here", and then "forgot to load furniture on truck", to " furniture not in stock". After spending all afternoon and evening leaving messages for "Lydia", I caught her off guard in the morning with no remorse, solution, or anyone higher to speak with. I am really disappointed in the customer service at this Ashley HomeStore. I originally passed an Ashley's down south while I was on vacation. I was in process of moving and stopped in to take a look around. I found a bed set I really liked and wanted to buy it. The associate told me that I had to go to my local store because the stores are independently owned. No big deal. They handled the situation well and still were overly attentive to me and asked if I needed anything even though they couldn't sell me anything. I called this Madison Heights store to get inventory, quote and buy the same model I saw. First call, went well and the saleswoman said she'd call back. She called back to give me a quote, I missed the call and could not get through on the line. I called back for two days and finally got a hold of her. Asked her for a quote and lead time on another bed. She said she's call back and never did. A week later, I came home and went in this store. We looked around, found a new bed set we liked and decided to talk to a sales associate. I awkwardly looked around, stood at the main desk, was ignored for a couple minutes. Finally, they called someone and it ended up being the same saleswoman that didn't call me back before. I asked for a quote on this new bed set and it turned out it was no longer in stock and the floor model was the last available. We said, ok, how much is it? She told us she'd call back the next day with a price. I'm still waiting for my call. Comparing to Love's, old Art Van, Gardner White, etc. this was the worst performing customer service. I think the furniture looked nice so I'm giving it a two but never received anything so I can't comment on quality. read more

The delivery drivers realized that the bed frame didn't need a box spring. They informed us we could return it within 72 hours since it was clear we didn't need it and they said they would be writing a note on the delivery that we would be returning. When my husband called to ask about the return, we were told that because we took delivery it could no longer be returned. So maybe the delivery men should have the proper information. And really the salesperson definitely tricked us into spending money that was not necessary by not telling us that the bed frame has slats. so complete incompetence of the sales person, the manager that helped with the sales and the delivery company. So I'll be warning everyone I know to not shop at Ashley as they are into tricking customers into spending money they don't need to. read more

No return No exchanges, my furniture was delivered with holes in the leather on the back of recliner. Called their store immediately and was told we needed to make a warranty claim. Called, sent pictures was told a qualified tech would be out to inspect, that hasn't happened yet. Called and emailed pictures several times, each time with an excuse and the promise of someone coming out to inspect the furniture. Brought and paid for everything back in Nov 2023 it's now almost February 2024. Now filling out paperwork for small claims court. The store and management in Madison Heights, MI is absolute garbage. I have had pretty much the same issue that everyone else on here has had with this location/company. We ordered a couch in April, told it would take *at most* 12 weeks, that passed & now it won't all be in until December. No one contacted us about this change, either. We had to call after the original delivery date passed with no contact. Absolutely horrible customer service. The amount of times we tried calling & couldn't get through or were hung up on is ridiculous. When you are spending thousands on furniture, you deserve to at least have decent customer service to help you. I wonder if we ever would've gotten our couch, and I pray we get our refund (cancelled our order). I just saw there were people having these issues almost a year ago, and they are still happening today. Obviously, whoever the customer service group is that is responding to these reviews isn't doing anything to really fix the issues.
