General Tao or Sesame chicken is what we meant to order but we ended up with Mapo Tofu and pork instead. We were peeved, it was our error, we wrote the number down wrong but.....surprisingly.....it was the best Mapo Tofu I've ever put in my mouth hole. When I've had it in the past the tofu was very soft and the pork was ground and it was way too soupy. This tofu was decently sized and the pork was sliced thinly. Garlic eggplant was ok, I prefer a slimy sauteed eggplant, like giant slugs. MMMMM garlic slug plants. This was a drier fry. Vegetable pancake was delicious, there were a variety of veggies in there. Tofu Bibimbap was a bag call on my part for take out. Part of the love of a good dish is the sear the rice gets in the hot hot bowl. This was missing in cardboard although the (I thought more that usual) variety of items were nicely arranged. I did not care for the sushi, the rolls were a little looser than I expected, one oddly smushed and some bites unevenly filled, also not too flavorful. a cute little restaurant, I would say is reasonable price. came here for a late lunch, I'm on the keto diet and personally, it seems a bit hard for me to pick a meal that's keto friendly. I chose the sashimi salad and seaweed salad, however, people say be careful with restaurant with seaweed salad cause it might be high on sugar. So I just stick my sashimi salad. I don't understand what is the buzz about this place. We were on Thursday night and the place was packed. We got takeout and it was a sad affair. The teriyaki chicken came out looking like chicken broccoli and tasted like a slightly sweet version of kungpao (sauce they use for chicken- and beef-broccoli, among other uses) sauce - so a weird mix of sweet with bitter aftertaste. The portion was decent, however. We also ordered an eel roll and it came out looking not sad, but positively tragic! I have been a fan of Asia Cuisine for quite some time. I am vegetarian and my husband is gluten free. Recently we had an event for 40 people catered by them and the food was great! They were able to use gluten free soy sauce and oyster sauce to make sesame chicken and spicy chicken in sauce. They delivered the food hot and promptly. I've noticed that whenever I travel, I will have a day or two where I will crave Asian food. Perhaps this is because I am Asian or because I grew up in Hawai'i but regardless, I always end up eating something that reminds me of home. Visiting Ithaca was no different for me, and thanks to the recommendation of a nearby business owner, my mother and I settled into Asia Cuisine for dinner. Despite being from Hawai'i where the cuisine for the most part is fused with Asian elements, Asia Cuisine actually offered options from China, Korea, and Japan, along with their own creations fusing aforementioned countries. Not only was the menu varied, but it was also great for people who haven't had Asian food before since you could pick and choose as you pleased. My mom and I settled for ordering some jjajangmyun (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet, sour, and crispy pork--but they didn't serve pork, so we got chicken). The jjajangmyun was good, but surprisingly sweet to me, which I think was done in order to cater to the non-Asian community, since jjajangmyun is meant to be more on the savory and salty side instead of sweet. However, the dish was still delish, just different. The tangsuyuk had to probably be the star of the show though because we had chosen the chicken alternative, and I'm not sure if it was the protein or the batter, but something about the tangsuyuk made it light and airy and crisp beyond words--simply put, it was amazing. The owners and employees were quick and accommodating as well despite having to stay open an hour after the advertised closing time (probably even longer since we left around 9:30pm and it was packed) and never once did we feel rushed to finish our meal. I ate here during covid times, and I knew it was going to be take out or delivery only, so I ordered my take out in preparation for a long wait time, but they said "pick up in 20!" Super pleasantly surprised with how rapid their service is. They really have a well oiled machine and have been in business a long time because the food is great!! My go-to orders are the bulgogi bento box, sweet potato sushi, futomaki, and eggplant in garlic sauce. The bento box is really solid, with good-tasting meat, purple rice, and tasty japchae. The sweet potato sushi is really substantial. The fried sweet potatoes are spiced in an interesting way--maybe even a touch of cinnamon, which was surprising to me. Nevertheless, it works well. The futomaki is also solid. Asia Cuisine knows how to make good rolls. My favorite dish is definitely eggplant with garlic sauce. The chefs manage to achieve a bright purple skin even after cooking, a firm and crispy crust, and piping hot and tender interior. The sauce is flavorful and just a little bit spicy. The dish is delightful. The outside of the restaurant is a little bit grungy, but the inside is modern and stylish. There are a lot of tables packed into a small space, so it can be difficult to have good conversations at peak hours. The service is solid. The waiters are always smiling, kind, and attentive. I was plesantly surprised...we all ordered the bibenbop and loved it. The vegetables were perfectly cut and cooked with a really nice flavor. The bulgogi meat was so delicious and of good quality. The rice was separate in a different bowl (versus just on the bottom)...which was great! You can eat however little or much rice you want. I haven't had it like this before but, really really liked it. One of my sons should have just gotten the bulgogi since he is not a veggie eater. But I scored since that meant we took his leftovers with us (the veggies) and I got to eat them the next day. Yum!
