I'm a sucker for stuff like hibachi in Teppanyaki. I like the taste of like just fresh food right off the grill it's delicious to me and I like to smell it being cooked the aromatics. It's just a better experience when you're eating. It's fun cause they play with fire too. Not all places do that anymore. It's an experience and they'll squirt some sake into your mouth as well. Tasty. I mean service is great. The weight staff is great. Your chef is obviously interacting with you so it's a different level of service. I like the food food is good. Great Sushi spot. This place had fresh and fun food and decor. Today I ordered the Godzilla roll. Amazing tuna with a tempura crunch outside. Also order the taco su and a side of miso with tea. All lovely. Sometimes the hibachi parties can get a bit loud in the next room. So if you're looking for solitude at dinner this may not be the place. Excellent service. This has been my sushi go-to for Ithaca. The Crazy tempura roll is good, crisp, and seasoned. I regularly order the lemon roll, as it's refeshing, with a nice bite of lemon on top. The Black Pepper tuna roll is spicy in a peppery and wasabi-sinus-clearing way, with the end piece usually the tastiest bit. The Ocean roll (mayo crab top) is also a house favorite, but not as well-liked as the American dream roll, with mango topping. This one is a favorite order. The Yummy yummy is the American dream with lobster tempura and no eel). The Dynamic is a nice light tempura fry. The Jumbo is indeed jumbo-sized! The good thing about their dine-in is they are accomodating, and have always had seats. I remember one day, I got a free side dish for my birthday when I asked about it. This was pre-pandemic, so I wouldn't recommend asking nowadays. The crazy spicy roll wasn't that much better than the spicy yellowtail roll to warrant it being double the price. I don't think there are that many sushi places in Ithaca so if you want sushi I think this place was fine. It has been a while since my wife and I have been to a Japanese hibachi style restaurant. We went for this as we are having a mini celebration with my sister, my niece and my niece's boyfriend. Parking is easy as they have a large parking space, luckily it was not too crowded when we went, we were immediately accommodated to the hibachi area/table/grill. We placed our order, after a few minutes the cook was already there ready to slice, dice and grill all our foods. Prior to cooking and grilling the cook confirmed all our order which he amazingly remembered until the time that he is serving the food to each one. I was happy that my companions were greatly entertained with cooking antics being done in front of us. Ambiance was fabulous, entertainment was the usual norm from any hibachi place, food taste good, meats were properly cooked according to each one's desire, food price is fair. we made a reservation during grad weekend at cornell, which was good because this place was extremely busy. the hibachi was a let down, but i guess there's not that many places to host a lot of people for dinner so we didn't have a ton of options. 1, asked for no butter for one person. the chef mixed in butter into the entire vegetable section which was split for the entire table 2, the chef went from left to right and did not portion out the vegetables beforehand so when it came to me (the last person), i basically got 5 pieces of onion and that was it for the vegetable 3, at our table, we ordered 1 steak and scallop, 1 steak and shrimp, 1 steak which meant that the four pieces of steak brought out, two should go to one person and then one each to the people who had a half steak half other meal. this did not happen. the chef split the meat three ways essentially giving more meat to the half steak half other meals. the person who ordered 1 steak got way less meat than expected. 4, the saucers were all dirty on our table with food in them still 5, when splitting the scallops, it looked as if the chef was looking at who might be paying so he did not evenly split them and gave a bit more to my dad (who was indeed paying) apparently the sushi is good here tho, but didn't get a chance to try read more

Their sushi is alright but their Sumo ramen is elite. Definitely the best ramen that I've had in Ithaca. The broth is sooooo flavorful and I was honestly so surprised at how good it was. Definitely try it if you have the chance! Service is alright. Sometimes, it can be hard to get their attention since they don't really stop by often. read more

It's been a while that we never been to Japanese hibachi style restaurant and tonight we dined out together with my sis in law, niece and her boyfriend. We were excited for the chef's cooking artistry. It was not extravagant as we were hoping for but good enough for a short entertainment while waiting. The food was amazing as always. I've never had any issues with their food and I always enjoy it immensely. Fresh, cooked perfectly to someomes preference, and delicious in taste. The service is generally quite good. They are timely, listen to our needs, and even anticipate needs before anything needs to be asked for. They're always very friendly and the gentleman we had serving us this time was quite playful and we enjoyed having him as a sever. He joked with us and made the experience great. We did the hibachi dinner and had the hibachi cooked in front of us which was fun as always. I will say it was slightly lack luster than normal but I will blame that on how busy they were. They were quite busy and hibachi was packed so I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were probably just doing their best to keep up. When our group interacted more I do think he tried harder to do tje entertainment piece. Decent hibachi where the chefs do all the classic hibachi-show tricks (squirting lemonade into your mouth, tossing food at you, and throwing the egg in the air). I ordered the shrimp and steak hibachi plate ($28) and it was HUGE! I asked for rare steak, and he cooked it exactly as I had wanted. It was just seasoned with salt and pepper. The rice had a nice chew and soy sauce-based flavor. The noodles were quite oily though, and the vegetables lacking in flavor. A long tradition in my family is enjoying hibachi on New Year's Day. We have continued that tradition here in Ithaca. As a first time visit I was very pleased with the service, attention to detail and the quality of the food. We were seated physically distanced from another some group. Which we appreciated since we are experiencing increased COVID in our area. My son ordered steak and scallops hibachi which was perfectly prepared, seasoned and grilled. I ordered the vegetable hibachi and I can say the same for my dish. I wasn't expecting tofu but found it to be well- prepared and delicious. Having had many hibachi experiences on my lifetime I have to say that I was disappointed that the fried rice contained no veggies and we also were served I'm guessing their version of a low main again no veggies. Otherwise we were very pleased with all of the other items. They also had my favorite Sauvignon blanc which added to my experience. I highly recommend this establishment and encourage you to go too! All of the hibachi chefs are super fun - they'll give you free sake and try to flip zucchini into your mouth. I highly recommend every Hibachi combo - they're all really good. Sumo caters the crowd at Ithaca perfectly. On one side, we have the typical restaurant with seating and a la carte options. You have options from tons of sushi options, to tasty appetizers, and stir fried rice dishes. The sushi is definitely really good here, and probably some of the best in Ithaca. If you have the chance, the duck roll is a treat to try! On the other side...there's the lit, rambunctious hibachi group. The chefs really know how to do their jobs, and it's no surprise that so many college events take place here. From squirting sake into the guests' mouths to whipping around food in the air and doing the volcano and all the fun hibachi performance stuff, they really know how to put on a show and please the crowd. Best Sushi restaurant in town! The restaurant is so nice, with private location away from the hustle and bustle of the other restaurants nearby. Our family loves to come to the restaurant to celebrate birthdays. The staff is very friendly, and we never feel rushed. It's really fun to watch the sushi chefs make the sushi into an art piece. Place was beautiful. Gorgeous interior with a nice fish tank. The crowds were very large with college students but the wait wasn't bad. Restrooms were clean. Waiter placed us at the hibachi table gave drinks but the cook never came out after 45 mins we had to find someone to actually cook. Sushi was very fresh and tasty and very well priced. We got three appetizers: the Tuna Tartar, Tuna Tataki (forgot to snap a picture of this one) and the Tuna Tobachi. All were very good, but my favorite was the tuna tobachi..I loved the sauce combined with the tuna and avocado. For sushi, I tried the Crazy Salmon Roll and the Dynamite Roll (which was literally out of this world..the crab on top was so tasty). The rolls are huge, so I had to take leftovers home to finish later. Definitely make a reservation - this place was packed! However the hibachi chicken was very disappointing and overpriced. $25 for the chicken to have no flavor at all and the vegetables were over cooked and half black. After spending $90 for two people to eat hibachi I definitely recommend skipping and finding somewhere else to spend your $90. The cook also seemed like he was new and gave a lack luster show for the price I expected a better experience. Also the waiter forgot one of our guest drinks and when she asked about it the waiter yelled at her "I know your pineapple juice.". Very nice restaurant in a strip mall. Much nicer inside than it appeared outside. Service was very fast and the dishes were very large. Overall a nice place for a large group of people. Udon, sushi and Katsu dishes were all very tasty. Tempura was great! Only reason for 1 less star were for the appetizers both orders if Goyza's weren't hot at all and were just ok. read more
