On the day of, he came with the trays on time and folks at my workplace loved the food. One colleague even remarked that the tofu from teriyaki tofu is one of the best he ever had in DC! We ordered full trays of orange chicken, Singaporean fried rice, cantonese veggie fried rice, and teriyaki tofu. The server was very friendly and attentive to us. - chicken pad thai: good. The noodle was perfectly cooked and chewy. The sauce was good but it could had more tamarind in it. We went here for a work lunch event with approximately 10 people. The space was pleasant and clean. It was easy to get reservations for a live a large groups. I've been here before and the service was good, this time the service was ok. It wasn't anything to complain about but also nothing impressive. It was convenient that they were able to do separate checks with a large table. I ordered the Tom Yum soup with shrimp. It was very filling and had nice big shrimp pieces. ai also ordered the thai basil fried rice. I asked for spice level if 4/4 and for some reason it wasn't spicy at all; I assume they forgot to make it spicy. They did give the 4 jars of spices at the table and I used those to reach the perfect spice level. The dish was also large servings and lasted me three meals. I think a gem in Penn Quarter! I used to order lunch to work from Asia Ninety and decided to check them Out for dinner with a coworker! Well I was very happy with everything we tasted. We tried as appetizers the chicken satay, chive dumplings, shrimp poppers. My favorite was the shrimp poppers with like a bang bang sauce, so crispy and fresh. I would skip the chive dumplings though next time. For our mains, we ordered the drunken noodles with beef, which was perfectly spicy and balanced . The panang curry with shrimp and also Thai BBQ chicken Which is a Thai-style chicken marinated with herbs and spices and grilled Served with Papaya Salad, Sticky Rice, and Sweet Chili Sauce! Everything was so flavorful. We ended the dinner with mango sticky rice, which was very sweet but light. I usually am not a big fan of sticky rice but this one was such a great ending to our meal. There are good happy hour deals too we tried some cocktails like one night in Bangkok, Japanese meal, and hibiscus Mojito. They were not alcohol forward so if you like more sweet drinks, I think these are for you. Overall, it was a great experience. Our server was very nice. My boyfriend and I got the Thai steamed dumplings, drunken noodles, and Sha Shu egg noodles. We both enjoyed the dumplings. My boyfriend said his noodles were perfectly spicy and comforting! This place should be busier than it is, because the food is tasty! I did not partake in the bar, but it seemed to be a notable place, with several locals having drinks when I visited. Service is excellent, as the server made sure that our drinks stayed topped off and checked on us periodically. Ambiance-wise, it's nothing special--kind of a cross between above midscale/dovey/trendy. I had the takoyaki and agedashi tofu appetizers, which were authentic and as tasty as anything in Hawaii and the West Coast (the benchmarks for Asian food outside of Asia, in my opinion). I had the Japanese chicken as my entree, which would have been called a chicken katsu donburi in Hawaii or the West Coast. The katsu was crispy and the batter was ideally light. The rice was extremely flavorful with broth and some onions. I don't get to DC often, but I hope this place is still here the next time I come back. read more

The only down side is, if you want to substitute the white rice for brown rice, it's an extra $5 which doesn't seem reasonable. Great happy hour deals! Our server even came over at 6:58 for a last call for happy hour, which is rare, but appreciated ! I got the hibiscus margarita which was yummy, but very sweet! My only complaint is that they list gluten free on their menu, but I was disappointed when I tried to confirm that something was gluten free the server did not know. Stopped by Asia Nine for dinner and drinks on a cold Saturday evening around 8pm. The restaurant was quite empty - just one other group of diners sitting at in the dining area. We were greeted by a friendly set of hosts/bartenders and took a seat at the bar, which seats about 10 folks I would guess. Unfortunately, they no longer offer the all day Saturday/Sunday happy hour and now end their Saturday HH at 7pm. We ordered a couple of rail whiskey drinks which tasted just as we would expect them to. For food, we ordered the asian fried wings and crispy sizzling beef entree to split amongst the two of us. The wings had a nice soft fry and were coated in a light sweet and spicy sauce. We had five wings for $10 - pretty satisfied with our order there. The sizzling beef came out next for $24 - the beef was sauced perfectly and came with grilled veggies and fried rice. This was so flavorful and the highlight of the experience. The beef entree was 100% enough for two people to split (especially since we got the wings to snack on) - would definitely return and get the beef again. Hard to judge the overall atmosphere of the place because there were so few patrons throughout the night. But I appreciate how helpful and friendly the servers and staff were. A small joint that sells all kinds of Asian food and drinks. We recently visited here and it was a pretty good experience overall. The atmosphere resembles a small restraint that has a bar along with cute decorations, giving life to the space. The staff were overall friendly but not very attentive. They were slow to refill drinks and not good at checking in on the tables after food was served. Definitely the place for improvement is here. The food is what carried the overall rating. I had the drunken noodles and they were amazing! Perfectly chewy noodles with a spicy sauce that was put together very well. Overall, still a positive experience. Pretty good food. My spring rolls were very close to being burnt but my green curry was delicious! Perfect curry flavor and not too spicy. Service is slow for a mostly empty restaurant and they never really check in on you, which would be fine but refills on water are always nice. There were a lot of things on the menu that were really appealing and I went with the shrimp pad woon sen. I liked that it was a very light dish, with cellophane noodles, egg, and veggies, but a lot of flavor. It came with a side of rice, which didn't feel necessary, but it added to the volume. The portion was enough that i could take leftovers home of the noodles but not shrimp since the portion of small. I came to Asia Nine because I really just wanted a glass of plum wine for happy hour, and the food did not disappoint! I got agedashi tofu and drunken noodles with chicken. The portions for both were amazing - I saved noodles for another meal! The tofu was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bartender brought me sauce separately for the tofu but noticed that the tofu was already in the sauce when he came to my table. I don't care either way since most Japanese restaurants have their tofu soaking in the sauce when served. The noodles had a great stir-fried flavor, not overpoweringly salty. The servers and bartender were very friendly, no complaints at all! Even on a Friday night for happy hour, it wasn't too busy or rowdy, and I enjoyed a nice meal watching some soccer. It may seem skeptical that they have a wide, expansive menu that covers multiple Asian countries, but the two times I've been there, I've had very positive experiences! It wasn't too busy during weekday lunch hours. Mom and I shared a Grilled Salmon Salad. The veggies were very refreshing but the salmon could've used some marinating. Good thing the Sukhothai Noodle Soup was very flavorful. We asked for something not spicy and this was it (or perhaps they took out the spiciness, I can't remember). The dish is described as "lightly battered & glazed with chili garlic & crispy basil. Served with steamed veggies". Turns out, very very very few pieces of chicken and mostly large chunks of the fried batter. Also, other than 3 pieces of broccoli and a couple of bell pepper strips, there was no steamed veggies. My fiancé and I went here with a friend from out of town and 3 other friends on a Saturday night. The place was quite empty which is sad for what is usually prime time dining. Perhaps it is more of a business and tourist spot. It is quite surprising that they are still in existence while other places in the neighborhood had a lot of people sitting outside and we did not see any outdoor dining here. The food is quite good, especially the sushi and the two rolls were specials but may have been the Tuna Kimchi Rolls Spicy Seared Salmon Roll. The Grilled Salmon Udon was pretty good, but not quite as good as we expected. The portions were quite big and we barely finished our food while our friends did not. Their drink selection is wonderful and affordable, for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We ordered the Anderson Valley Black Rice Ale and the Lemon Ginger Ice Tea and they even gave us a complimentary refill on the ice tea. The service was so-so as our waitress forgot our drink and miso soup orders. They had a 20% service fee, which I'm not sure if it was due to our group being larger and split checks or if this is pandemic practice but it would have been good to know in advance. Plus 20% seemed high considering the service needed improvement. While not five stars, it is a good Asian Fusion place at a reasonable price for Downtown DC. read more
