I am rested take out on the way home. The hostess was kind, polite and helpful. She took my order fast and then I waited, and I waited and then waited some more. There was barely anyone in the place and it took a century and a day for the sushi to come. It finally came and it was good, not great, not the best I've ever had but a solid good. Would I come back again? I'd give it one more shot with the hopes the order doesn't take forever.

    Hello
    Larry M.

I visited this spot the other day on my tour of Downtown DC. I was impressed with the sushi I got...but that was all I got!! So I decided to pull up to see what other things they have on their menu! LET'S GO!! . Where I am: @chilibistro825.dc . Location Reviewed: 825 7th St., N.W. Washington D.C. . Items Reviewed: LIKE THAT!! Their Yellow Tail Jalapeno Sushi Appetizer ($ thinly sliced yellow tail, sashimi, jalapeno, & their chef sauce). If raw fish is your thing...this app is for you!! Well seasoned, & lemony!! STAMP!! Their Spicy Chili Oil Wontons ($12 with chicken on the inside of the wonton). Spicy hot, thick, & flavorful!! LIKE THAT! Their Lemon Pepper Wings ($10 for six fried lemon pepper dusted wings). These did the job, crispy, peppery, & lemony!! STAMP!! Their Lucky 6 Dumplings ($18 with 2 pork dumplings, 1 chicken dumpling, a black truffle dumpling, a veggie, & a crab dumpling). STAMP the black truffle, & both pork dumplings, the crab dumpling LIKE THAT, the chicken, & veggie were DELICIOUS! LIKE THAT! Their Chicken Hibachi Entree ($28 with fried rice, chicken, & seasoned veggies). Everything was here, definitely well seasoned...good!! STAMP!! Their Sizzling Bulgogi ($28 with seasoned Bulgogi beef, & onions). Tender beef, flavorful, spicy, & tasty! STAMP Their Half Pound Seafood Boil ($28 with shrimp, snow crab legs, potatoes, corn, with cajun, garlic, & lemon butter medium hot). It's hard to mess up a seafood boil unless the seafood, or the sauce is old. In this case...STAMP the sauce mix!! STAMP! Their Deluxe Dragon Roll ($15 with shrimp tempura, eel sauce, avocado, sesame seeds, & wasabi). Consistently tasty!! Crunchy, meaty, & fulfilling!! STAMP!! Their Pineapple Passionfruit Tea ($8). Refreshing, fruity, & cold!! . Customer Service: On Point. . Parking: Rough!! . Recommendations: Get sushi, boil, & bulgogi!! . Accessibility: It's is wheelchair friendly, & it's differently abled persons friendly 5 Stars=STAMP 4 1/2 Stars=LIKE THAT 4 Stars=DELICIOUS 3 Stars=DECENT 2 Stars=PASS 1 Star=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

This is a perfect place to grab food and drinks with a large group before heading to the arena for basketball. Me and six others were seated (we had a reservation for 5:30pm on Friday), and ordered drinks and food from the menu. I got a Long Island iced tea and Sapporo. The iced tea was alright, and my beer was crisp. For food, we got tuna tataki, yellowtail, wings, crab Rangoon, and chili oil dumplings. All of it was good, with the wings being my fav along with crab Rangoon. The reason I'm giving it 4/5 is because of the happy hour. We got real value out of the deals. It's also fairly new and has tons of tv for sports. Service was solid too. If I come with a large group for quick bites and drinks, this is the spot now.

Hmm, was craving Dan Dan noodles and saw this place had it on themed but no reviews. I got the food to go, but the Dan Dan noodles were ok. The sauce was more peanut strong than spicy. The cucumber salad didn't have that crisp bite or spicy flavor. Overall, it's okay, but I wouldn't get it.

Great hidden gem in Chinatown. Awesome fun and friendly service. Everything we ordered was delicious. Very clean and a total vibe. 5 stars

    Shrimp Tempura Roll
    Food A.

Cute place, cute set up. I've been twice and the Shrimp Tempura was not good , the shrimp was overly mushy. The seafood boils are okay but overrated in my opinion Crafty crab has cheap better options. I had to send my silverware back both times they weren't cleaned properly. And the Manager christian, very money hungry as well. I bought wings from them earlier in the day and I was going back pass I needed to use the restroom she said I would have to buy something even after explain I had got some earlier. I wouldn't much better places with better service.

    Emily N.

Good happy hour deals with 50% off appetizers and the wontons were really good. But nowhere does it say that you need to buy an alcoholic drink to get happy hour. I don't drink, and I had to buy alcohol to get the deal

Every dish we ordered was well prepared and full of flavor. The Stone Crab was the highlight of the meal--fresh, sweet, and perfectly chilled with a delicious mustard dipping sauce. The Steak Béarnaise was cooked exactly as requested, tender and juicy, and the rich béarnaise sauce complemented it perfectly. The Crab Bisque was creamy, comforting, and packed with real crab flavor without being overly heavy. We also loved the Grilled Seafood Platter, which featured a great variety of seafood that was fresh, perfectly grilled, and seasoned just right. We were seated immediately and the dining room is adequate. Sufficiently decorated to make it okay. It is furnished for maximum occupancy which is fine. Think casual place, almost bar with food, not fancy at all. I do not mean for this to be a negative comment. Hank's presents itself as more of a beachside joint, not a high end seafood restaurant. Each of these sorts of restaurants has a place in the spectrum. Our waiter - Keith or Kevin - I'm so sorry but I cannot remember his name - was GREAT! Funny, good at his job, great personality and helpful. He started out with a corny, but cute, joke and he kept getting better all night. The manager too was quite good, professional and friendly. What a great staff! The food is good. I could talk about the lobster bisque (a bit on the strong side) or the flounder (a bit on the salty side). But, honestly, the food was good and I enjoyed it a lot. I did not complain about any of it nor do I think a complaint was necessary. So, as I said before, it had been years since I had last eaten at Hank's. But it won't be that long anymore. I recommend Hank's for a casual seafood meal.

The standout for me was the salmon slider-- the sauce was so good I wish I ordered more. Great vibe for a casual happy hour. I'd definitely come back, especially for the $1 oysters.

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.

We later learned she was a fellow Cancer with a birthday coming up. Cancer energy is real!!! The food and drinks did not disappoint. Asparagus, calamari, shrimp cocktail, coal roasted oysters, chicken chermoula, and lump crab gratin. Worth every penny. One tip worth sharing, ask for a bit of sea salt for the chicken. The first taste lacked it and that small addition made all the difference. We were five deep which honestly matched the energy of most tables around us. It's a lovely thing to wander through before heading in to eat just a few feet away. The setting itself doesn't feel like Washington at all. With the charming little patio and relaxed vibe, you could imagine you're in another country, and it strikes a wonderful balance between easygoing and sophisticated. Little touches go a long way for me, and they nailed them here: silverware with the lovely illusion of polished silver and elevated stemware that added an extra bit of vibe to the whole experience. The staff were wonderfully accommodating from the start: everything was still soaked from the heavy rain the night before, but they went out of their way to set us up in a lovely shaded spot so we'd stay cool and comfortable. That same care showed up in a much bigger way later, when one of our party passed out from a health issue unrelated to the meal, and the team handled it with calm, attentiveness, and real heart. Now, the food. The brunch menu hits all the classics, chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict with fun variations featuring crab and smoked fish, all the good stuff. I settled on the lobster roll, which was incredibly good, served with Old Bay fries that came out perfectly hot and crisp, exactly the way fries should always arrive, with ketchup on the side. We also tried the tuna tartare and the buffalo oysters, which were a blast: fried oysters with a blue cheese dressing and hot sauce, served in the cutest presentation in shells on smooth lake pebbles. On the drinks side, I had a "Bloody Margaret," a gin-based riff on a Bloody Mary, and it was wonderfully spicy, just the way I like it. The cocktail list overall is playful and worth exploring. Oysters are clearly one of their fortes. They focus on Virginia oysters, so it's a single variety, but they do a lot with it across a range of preparations. There's also a fun Virginia peanut-centric theme running through the menu.
