From the moment we arrived, Esrat was very polite, attentive, and friendly. Every request was handled quickly with a genuine smile and professional attitude. This place was super convenient to the hotel we were staying at, so I decided to place a pickup order. It was ready in about 20 minutes, which was perfect timing, and the whole process was quick and easy. It's located on a busy street, but they also offer outdoor seating if you want to dine in. When I went inside to grab my food, the staff was really nice and already had everything packaged and ready to go. Overall, the food was good! The drunken noodles were slightly overcooked, but still tasty. I do wish the summer rolls had noodles inside, they were mainly rice paper with lettuce, carrots, and tofu, but the sweet nouc mam dipping sauce was delicious and made up for it! read more

This afternoon around 2 o'clock I came in for lunch. The server seemed nice at first, but I noticed she was making casual conversation with the other two tables around me. One was an older couple seated shortly before I walked in, and the other was a table of three that came in after me. I received my food well before the older couple. I ordered the lemongrass soup and Panang curry. After they had taken a few bites of their food, the server went back to their table, asked what their favorite dish was, and had a casual conversation with them for a minute or so. I was never really checked on about the quality or taste of my food. The only thing I got was a quick "you ok?" After dropping my check, the server went to the table of three and started a longer conversation. At this point they were almost done eating. They were asked the same question about their favorite dishes and then told what the restaurant's most famous dishes were from each category. From the soups to the noodles to the chef specials. I wasn't given even a fraction of that attention, conversation, or service. As someone who used to work in the restaurant industry myself, I understand that every table is different and not everyone wants excessive interaction. But HOSPITALITY should still feel consistent. The difference in warmth and attentiveness between my table and the others was noticeable enough that it made me uncomfortable. Side note: I am a Black woman. The other patrons receiving the noticeably friendlier and more engaged service were white. I can't say for certain that's what the reason was, but I do feel the need to mention race because without it, the contrast in treatment I experienced probably wouldn't make sense. Whether intentional or not, the difference in service did not go unnoticed and left me feeling unwelcome. I will not be back. read more

Went in for a carryout order since I'm close by and wanted to check it out. Spring rolls: Literally just spring mix salad in rice paper. No thai basil or normal fillings, what a wasted opportunity to start the meal off well. The dipping sauce was good so there's hope! Drunken Noodle: Overall a decent dish, I got it with pork and the flavor was fine. I did order it "Thai Spicy" and it's was barely above mild... Mango sticky rice: Flavors are solid, but I feel that the mango was not very fresh. Thai iced tea: This hit the spot and was exactly what I wanted. However, $6+ for it was a bit surprising. My server was friendly and my food came quickly. The inside of the place is a bit dark and I prefer Thai music in a Thai restaurant instead of top 40, but that's me. Shout out to Roza for taking care of our group of seven hungry men. She seated us quickly and took care of our orders in a timely manner. I started with the Charmthai house salad. It was pretty large and full of fresh greens, cucumbers, and carrots. The peanut dressing was good, but could have used a little more salt and savory for my liking. My entrée was Red Curry Delight with chicken with a side of white rice. The curry was very flavorful with just the right amount of spice. It had a nice umami taste from the fish sauce. I am sure it is okay for non thai customers but if you are homesick or thai and are craving thai food this might not be the place. I went on a Friday afternoon about 1 PM to have lunch with a friend. I was surprised at how empty the restaurant was for that time of day and day of the week. Not necessarily a good sign. Parking was relatively easy to find also, which was great. Given that there was only one other patron in the restaurant we received prompt service. I ordered the pads for you which is what I get regularly. When I go to TY Thai restaurants. I asked for extra broccoli. The portion size was OK, I was surprised that it was not the Asian broccoli I typically get with this dish. The flavor was decent, but the noodles were slightly overdone. It was a decent meal, but I don't know that I would recommend the place or return again. read more

We looked at the reviews before coming here and notice such a mix. So we decided to just go for it and make our own judgement since we were in the area and walked by it a lot. I really wanted to like it, and maybe they were having an off day? But here's my review: 1) drinks: ordered 2 pineapple juice (I like juice ok lol)...let's just say it tasted really funky. Like it was spoiled and they added club soda to it. So then it tasted like Kombucha. I gave it a 0 stars. 2) fried eggs rolls- it was crispy. But the fillings were soggy and had no flavor. Gave it a 2 star. 3) pad Thai- it was ok. The tofu tasted a bit off and too spongy. The flavor was mediocre but not bad at the same time. 3 stars 4) venue- there were a lot of cob webs. I really don't like spiders but there were just too many webs. 2 stars 5) staff- there was only 1 waiter who was nice and he had to be the bartender as well. So I give his service a 4 stars. So if I average that out, it's basically a 2 star place from my experience. I hope things improve and for them to do well. But like I said, maybe it's an off day. Who knows. read more

Decent Thai place in between Georgetown and foggy bottom! I sat outside due to covid and appreciated that the waiter was wearing a mask. I ordered the chiang mai curry noodles, aka khao soi. My standards might have been a tad high, because the last time I had this dish was in Chiang Mai. I wish that the curry soup had been more of a soup, instead of a thick sauce. The sauce's spices were a little overpowering and could have been more well-balanced with more coconut milk. The noodles were also really chewy, as if they had absorbed a lot of the liquid that they were in. I expected them to be a little less firm. The dish was also missing the pickled veggies and fresh shallot on top. Those bits of fresh vegetables would have really enhanced the dish. I got the mango sticky rice to go and really enjoyed that! The summer rolls were literally the worst I have ever had. The rice wrapper wasn't even soaked long enough to make it pliable and it was just a handful of salad greens and a few pieces of fried tofu. The calamari was so chewy that you could barely cut through it with your teeth. My only veggies drunken noodles had were onions and peppers (and scallions cut in 1-inch pieces). The only food item that was decent was the chicken satay. Well seasoned and juicy. The server was friendly and kind. This place is an absolute hidden gem! Unfortunately all of the other reviews seem subpar, however, our experience has been nothing but astounding. The service is excellent with the kind waitress. The spiked Thai tea is a must have as well as the papaya salad and curries. My family and I visited twice within 2 days it was so good! Everything cooked to perfection and seasoned very well. Whenever you ask for anything it's as if you are bothering him. Ironic that a place called Charm has no charm! The tom yom soup with shrimp was nice; however, lot of soup but little substance: 2 shrimps and some mushrooms and that's it. A big bowl though. The calamari is rubbery (dry inside, not tender) and there's nothing special at all. No salt / pepper. No sauce just a standard sweet chili sauce in a small bowl; I am not even sure they made the sauce in house. Ditto for the fried wonton. A bit tasteless. Crispy but dry. Same sweet chili sauce. Hot food, ample portion, spice level on point, and great presentation. And all for less than $15 with tax & tip.
