Since reopening under new ownership and renovations, it's not a dump anymore. That said, I ordered take out, 1 Mandarin pork, 1 Fried rice and 2 egg rolls. $29.00 with fees. - the Mandarin pork had a horrible smell and taste from the mushrooms. Quite off putting, but edible and no one got sick. - as with the previous ownership, very small amount of meat and loaded with vegetables so that what looks like 4 decent helpings is really two if you want enough meat in those two. So you wind up with a lot of veggies left over. The portioning is out of whack for the price. - generally there is nothing special and when you get the takeout in under 10 minutes, it makes me wonder how this is done in the kitchen. Granted I was the only customer at 4:30. Going to be hard justifying a return. A Decent place in the Spring Park radius I would think could do well. read more

This is for the NEW Asian bistro that opened in October '24. Terrible. Tried it twice. The Vietnamese fresh spring rolls came for take out wrapped in plastic wrap and weren't fresh. They had none of the usual herbs, such as cilantro or basil or mint, but they did have a slice of unseasoned pork and a bit of shrimp. Bland even with the gloppy Hoisin sauce that came with it. Tried eating in, with a group of 5 on midweek night. We were the only people there for quite awhile though they seemed to do a brisk take out business. Had the sweet n sour tofu. The sweet and sour sauce was globbed on, sickly sweet, and there was about a pint of it poured over grossly overcooked tofu that was so tough it was almost inedible. Worst sweet and sour I've ever had. Something you'd serve the kids for dessert.The shrimp toast, though deeply browned, seemed to have the shrimp topping not totally cooked through. The fried rice was alright. Even the fortune cookies weren't right..mine was deep brown like a gingersnap and another had a fortune in Spanish. Sort of like the restaurant bought a box of "second hand fortune cookies". Just weird. A couple diners thought their food was ok, the others didn't. The problem seems to be too few cooks and absolute no attention to quality, just pumping out quantities of less than mediocre food as fast as they can. read more

Just not the same quality/taste/price since new ownership. Ordered sesame chicken - looked and tasted more like orange chicken - sauce was thick/gloppy - almost jelly like. Both egg roll options (regular and Vietnamese) A) taste like cinnamon and B) Vietnamese were thick and doughy. Egg drop soup had no flavor. All that to say, way overpriced for what you get. First, chicken should at least look like chicken. I'm quite sure this isn't that. Second, cashew chicken needs vegetables. Not pieces of something that looks like maybe meat and soggy cashews. Come on, this is Chinese food 101. Third, anyone giving this place more than one star has likely never eaten at a good Chinese restaurant. Given the lack of Asian restaurants in the suburbs, this one was pretty stellar given others I have tried that were not so good. I want to first say, I am no guru on traditional Chinese food so I am more familiar with the Americanized version of Chinese food which is what I'll be reviewing. Recently when we came here we tried the shrimp egg foo young, hunan beef, sesame chicken and the chicken chow fun. We loved everything with the exception of the sesame chicken which was soggy and the chicken was chewy. We would try this place again when we are out in the suburbs because we haven't found many good places around where we live. Worth a try if you live in the area! read more

It was Christmas Eve, and our usual Chinese takeout was closed, so we tried this place to keep our tradition going. The food was super good, better than our usual. Only 4 stars because the service was hectic. Called in at 4:40, and was told it was busy, would be a 40m wait. It was actually an hour, and I overheard staff saying they'd stopped taking orders by 5p, even though the sign on the door said last order 8:30p. Even all that's not a big deal, but what made it unpleasant was seeing the proprietor visibly upset and frazzled with all of the rush. We, my family and i, wanted to try a new place. We are trying to find a decent chinese/asian restaurant in MN, and have yet to find one. Looking at reviews for restaurants and found this place and they had 4.6 stars. So we thought, sure, we'll try it. We dont usually listen to reviews, but this time, we did. I am sorry to say that I am confused by the 4.6 star rating. The people that eat there must have their favorite dish(es) and it...is.....amazing. Or maybe their customers dont have any taste buds or their not, at all, picky on what they eat. Maybe the asian bistro had an "off night". We were not at all impressed and we wont be back. We spend $50 bucks for food that was inedible. We walked in and sat down. The asian lady was nice and accommodating. The food came out hot and in a timely manner. The size of the portions of food received was impressive. However, For 3 dishes that used rice, we received one bowl of rice. I was surprised to see the soda come in warm cans. I ordered the chicken chow mein. It was good, however, couldve used a lot more chicken and WAY less celery (omg there were sooooo many). The chow mein (noodles), in MY OPINION, should never be placed under the food. They should be placed either on the side so the customer can add the hard and crunchy noodles and not eat soggy ones or on top of the dish. The other dishes that were ordered were the general tso's chicken.and the garlic steak thing. Apparently, my dish was the only one that was edible. The general tso's chicken was hard and inedible, The sauce was not good. My daughter said it resembled an "up-chuck" kinda flavor. The garlic steak thing, the steak was on the mush side and the sauce was nasty. The only reason for the 2 stars is because of the staff and the cleanliness of the store. read more

Let's preface by stating that this is a Chinese restaurant out in the burbs on a lake and there aren't many similar options. Asian Bistro is catering to the audience so I'd adjust your expectations accordingly for those wanting the food to be exactly like what they had living in China. There was nothing particular I would rave about however that being said this place was fast and friendly with large portions and affordable. My group had takeout, we called and it was ready in 15 minutes, and at $12/person with 6 people there was more than enough food for two more. My group had eggs rolls, cream cheese puffs, Lo Mein and Mongolian Beef. I surprisingly liked the egg rolls because the skin wasn't too thick and it wasn't super heavy filling. I also especially enjoyed the Mongolian Beef because you could really taste the onions and scallions. I'd skip the Island Coconut Curry Shrimp and Beef with Broccoli, both had too thick of sauces for my taste and were flat flavor wise. read more

Fried Pork Rice was extremely dry (even soy sauce could not save it), Chicken Lo Mein and Egg Drop Soup quite bland, Cream Cheese Wontons were cold upon opening the bag (right after leaving the restaurant & soup was cold when I arrived home). Service was quick on our takeout order - ready when we arrived in 10 mins however they stated it would be ready in 15-20 mins, so I would hate to have seen how cold it would have been then. Wasn't a fan of the atmosphere when walking in either. It seems I relied on old Yelp reviews to guide me to this choice, passion in restaurants can die out and some slide by as patrons continue to stop in regardless of on/off food quality. I'll stick to Jade Palace down the street even though it may be a few $ more - I always know what to expect there! read more

The food lacked passion, excitement, or authenticity. Of the four different dishes we ordered, the sauces all tasted bland and the same. The chicken tasted day-or-two rubbery old. No spice or heat. Nothing was elevated. Felt like the chef was phoning it in. My wife and I wanted the food to remind us -- even a little bit -- of the home cooking we're accustomed to from our 3 years in China. Asian Bistro missed the mark. They should be ashamed of serving this Americanized food. Give us a thrill and cook for the public like they're your family. Asian Bistro rocks! After not being happy with the low quality of the "other place" in mound, we have been here steadily for the past couple years. The quality is very consistent lately and Theresa, the owner, is really nice and accomodating to us. (She lives over an hour from here!) If you have not done so, do yourself a favor and eat inside the restaurant, the decor is so, so but the food is so much more alive! She has a great variety of choices and does all of them well.
