"Sweet Potatoes" ($15.99) Grilled marinated sweet potatoes, crunchy chili oil, asian mayo, pickled Fresno, toasted coconut and Thai basil.
    Gina Z.

I want to preface this by saying that my first meal from "Abang Yoli" was a takeout order, so that may have impacted my enjoyment of the meal due to the ideal temperatures at which fried foods are meant to be savoured. That being said, their Korean Fried Chicken is the bees' knees! I loved the crunch, flavor, and juiciness of the fried chicken. This is their staple menu item, so if nothing else makes your taste buds moist, give the fried chicken a whirl. With the fried chicken, I ordered the "Asian Fries" and "Sweet Potatoes". Their sides menu is limited: kimchi slaw, steamed jasmine rice, house pickles, or Asian fries. The sweet potatoes are from their main menu options. The Asian Fries were okay, sesame-forward with a small amount of heat, but nothing unpleasant. I'm sure had I tried these on site, fresh out of the fryer, I would've appreciated this side a lot more. The sweet potatoes are not an option I'd go for again. It's not my style to bash a dish, so I will say this respectfully and objectively: the sweet potatoes did not have flavor combinations that I appreciated in the same way someone else might. I appreciated all of the sauce offerings. They were perfect for dipping the fries and chicken in. My favorites were the "Sesame Ginger Garlic" sauce, which tasted similar to the Ginger dressing given at every Hibachi/Teppanyaki restaurant with your salad, and their "Asian Mayo", which was also quite sesame-forward. All of that being said, I would like to go back, dine in, and indulge in their chicken sandwich as it's one of their top-selling items aside from the fried chicken alone. I think after a second dine-in visit, I could form a better opinion.

Drove by this place and decided to turn around! We got two pieces of Korean fried chicken (that is enough for two people) which comes with one side, either pickles or kimchi. We chose pickles which was a little cup of pickled veggies like cucumbers, radish, and carrots. The chicken was big and extra crispy! Loved the flavor of the breading. We also loved the sauces we picked too. Be careful, some are actually spicy like they state on the menu. They also have beer and wine. Love the variety of wine, I liked their crisp Sauvignon blanc. The chef was there, who was helpful and kind and the service was fast and friendly.

It's a one person show when we were there. One person taking orders and making all the food. Very personable and pretty fast for doing it all himself. We ordered take out but if we had eaten there it would have been quite cozy and nice. They do have some beer available if that is of interest.

I am so happy that these guys opened a Minnetonka location. We got some take out and it was so good! The fried chicken is moist and the crust is perfectly fried. It comes with a choice of sauces. Also had the char siu pork belly which i also perfectly prepared. As an afterthought I also ordered the sweet potatoes. Amazing, highly recommended. The space is bright and plenty of room for dine in. They have beer, wine and sake. Don't wait to check it out !

First visit to the new location in Minnetonka and so excited they are here! Ate lunch on the patio. Friendly service and same great food! Did miss the Chicken Satays that are on the Malcom Yards menu and would love to see the Chicken Bao added here as well. We had the Char Sui and Rice Noodle salad

Second visit and food was still fantastic! We really enjoy the sweet potatoes which have amazing flavor! The chicken is hot and crispy when delivered to your table and tastes wonderful with various sauces - try the ginger garlic and also the gochujuang! Service is counter order followed by delivery to your table. Ambiance is pleasant. Go for the food!!

I've been told I must try the sweet potato entree by my culinary friends. Today I did. First off, the presentation was excellent. Neglecting a photo I began to enjoy this supreme dish with the Asian style mayonnaise which was cleverly spread over the inside of the deep dish so that I could easily swab the slices that I had cut. The combination of the topping along with the perfect texture of the potato made my tastebuds savor each bite. I can't wait to return. My friend chose the chicken sandwich along with 2 different dipping sauces. This was his second time here (as well mine) and I believe he is hooked. By the time I left at 1:30 the restaurant was still packed. I wish all of the success in the world for this restaurant because it has become my go-to place for comfort food.

I regret I did not get a picture of the sweet potato side. One of the best flavor combinations I have ever had. The chicken was super crispy, moist and not greasy. They shred the kimchi which gives in my opinion a better texture than sliced. Went well with the chicken. The in house sauces- we had goghujang and sesame, are so well balanced. Cannot wait to go back. Chef Yoo was present and coaching his team and I may have seen him do some dishes! Epic leader.

All of the dishes we tried were great. For appetizers, we had mandu, a scallion pancake, tteokbokki, and tempura veggies. All of the portions were HUGE, and everything tasted great (especially the pancake, it's a MUST ORDER dish!). We also got spicy pork and beef bulgogi to BBQ. Both of those portions were also huge, and tasted amazing. Everything about the grill worked well, and the ventilation was great (we didn't smell like BBQ at all after). They have one type of Korean beer on tap (which is basically all you can get in Minnesota). The service was pretty quick and friendly. The restaurant was very clean (they spent a lot of time cleaning each place setting after guests left their tables), and the bathrooms were good too. Do keep in mind, many of the streets around here are torn up for construction over the summer, so allow lots of extra time, and plan to park in one of the two nearby garages as there is almost no street parking.

I got the kimbap, sundubu-jjigae (spicy tofu stew with seafood), and haemul pajeon (seafood pancake). The kimbap is the best thing there is, and they also sell this to go at the register (I've had this multiple times and I think it's the best kimbap I've had). Despite being mostly veggies, the kimbap is deep in flavor and very scrumptious. The sundubu-jjigae was a hidden gem for me. I didn't think I would like tofu stew but holy clam this soup had so much umami from the seafood. The broth was not watered down at all and was full of flavor, and the seafood was plentiful and went perfectly with the rice. The only downside to this dish were the banchans, which were overall a bit underwhelming, especially the beansprouts. The seafood pancake was also just okay. It was thick and filled with seafood, but despite eating this right when it was finished cooking, it just wasn't as crispy as I would have liked (a good example of really good seafood pancake is at K-bop near the U of M). Overall, I enjoyed the food here and would definitely like to try some of their other dishes there!

The atmosphere is stylish without feeling pretentious, the music fits the space, and the service was outstanding. The server knew the menu inside and out and made choosing easy. The Shrimp & Fennel dumplings were light and fresh with a subtle fennel flavor, while the Chicken & Green Chili dumplings brought a little Serrano heat without overpowering the chicken. The food is mostly good, although there is something missing still that could make this restaurant truly one of the best in the state. Still, it's a great night out, especially if you like Korean and/or Chinese food. Here's a rundown: The food: First and foremost, Minari has special menus to meet many dietary restrictions. Not just symbols on one menu, but different menus depending on your restrictions. That's amazing. We ordered off of the Dairy Free (DF) menu, which does include a lot of their dishes from the regular menu. The Szechuan Ribs were my favorite, they are exquisite. The KFC wings are good too, although they could have used a bit more sauce (I am used to Korean-style wings being pretty saucy). The pork jowl was good but did not have quite enough gojuchang flavor. The accompaniments that came with it were awesome, especially the sauces. The bonchon need some work; I would love to see more traditional bonchon, ours had a couple "fusion" type dishes that were a little too contemporary for us. The drinks: The Minari Old Fashioned was AWESOME, a great drink (and the rice cracker was great too). Highly recommend this. The service was some of the best in the metro. From entering (where the host stand will make sure you have appropriate menu(s)), to the server, who was perfectly attentive and very knowledgeable about every dish, including dietary issues, to the complimentary tea and birthday sparkling wine, I can't say enough about the service here. The only weird thing is the dim sum, I would actually just put the dim sum dishes on the menu and bring them out on demand. The ambiance was really nice, and the bathrooms were clean. The final thing I would say is that I think that Minari could benefit from making their Korean dishes a little bit more traditional...as I mentioned earlier, small touches like making the wings a bit "saucier," more gojuchang flavor on the dishes that feature it, and more traditional bonchon would all be great. Still, this is a phenomenal place to dine/drink in NE Minneapolis, and if you like Korean and Chinese food, you will not be disappointed!
