    Asian fries

Abang Yoli was the perfect place to stop for a summer lunch. The fried chicken sandwich is cooked to perfection - extra crispy outside with moist chicken on the inside, and not overly greasy. The sauce option you pick really decides the overall flavor of your sandwich. We liked the sesame ginger garlic and the gochujang! The fries were a good size to share and had a unique flavor with the nori sprinkles and sesame mayo. The interior is cheerful and welcoming, and the meal came out quickly after ordering at the counter. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

What's left of the 4-piece chicken

Korean food is my absolute favorite, but I am sad this place just doesn't deliver. First of all, I wish they could offer a broader Korean menu with bibimbap and other stale dishes. We tried the 4-piece chicken and it was very mediocre; no reference to Korean flavors, tasted more like a schnitzel. Sadly, the kimchi slaw was terrible; bitter and just very odd, and I LOVE kimchi. Just overall not my type of food.

I want to preface this by saying that my first meal from "Abang Yoli" was a takeout order, so that may have impacted my enjoyment of the meal due to the ideal temperatures at which fried foods are meant to be savoured. That being said, their Korean Fried Chicken is the bees' knees! I loved the crunch, flavor, and juiciness of the fried chicken. This is their staple menu item, so if nothing else makes your taste buds moist, give the fried chicken a whirl. With the fried chicken, I ordered the "Asian Fries" and "Sweet Potatoes". Their sides menu is limited: kimchi slaw, steamed jasmine rice, house pickles, or Asian fries. The sweet potatoes are from their main menu options. The Asian Fries were okay, sesame-forward with a small amount of heat, but nothing unpleasant. I'm sure had I tried these on site, fresh out of the fryer, I would've appreciated this side a lot more. The sweet potatoes are not an option I'd go for again. It's not my style to bash a dish, so I will say this respectfully and objectively: the sweet potatoes did not have flavor combinations that I appreciated in the same way someone else might. I appreciated all of the sauce offerings. They were perfect for dipping the fries and chicken in. My favorites were the "Sesame Ginger Garlic" sauce, which tasted similar to the Ginger dressing given at every Hibachi/Teppanyaki restaurant with your salad, and their "Asian Mayo", which was also quite sesame-forward. All of that being said, I would like to go back, dine in, and indulge in their chicken sandwich as it's one of their top-selling items aside from the fried chicken alone. I think after a second dine-in visit, I could form a better opinion.

It's a one person show when we were there. One person taking orders and making all the food. Very personable and pretty fast for doing it all himself. We ordered take out but if we had eaten there it would have been quite cozy and nice. They do have some beer available if that is of interest.

Drove by this place and decided to turn around! We got two pieces of Korean fried chicken (that is enough for two people) which comes with one side, either pickles or kimchi. We chose pickles which was a little cup of pickled veggies like cucumbers, radish, and carrots. The chicken was big and extra crispy! Loved the flavor of the breading. We also loved the sauces we picked too. Be careful, some are actually spicy like they state on the menu. They also have beer and wine. Love the variety of wine, I liked their crisp Sauvignon blanc. The chef was there, who was helpful and kind and the service was fast and friendly.

I am so happy that these guys opened a Minnetonka location. We got some take out and it was so good! The fried chicken is moist and the crust is perfectly fried. It comes with a choice of sauces. Also had the char siu pork belly which i also perfectly prepared. As an afterthought I also ordered the sweet potatoes. Amazing, highly recommended. The space is bright and plenty of room for dine in. They have beer, wine and sake. Don't wait to check it out !

First visit to the new location in Minnetonka and so excited they are here! Ate lunch on the patio. Friendly service and same great food! Did miss the Chicken Satays that are on the Malcom Yards menu and would love to see the Chicken Bao added here as well. We had the Char Sui and Rice Noodle salad

Second visit and food was still fantastic! We really enjoy the sweet potatoes which have amazing flavor! The chicken is hot and crispy when delivered to your table and tastes wonderful with various sauces - try the ginger garlic and also the gochujuang! Service is counter order followed by delivery to your table. Ambiance is pleasant. Go for the food!!

Other dishes we ordered were the Calamari , Papaya salad & Sassy Basil. The calamari was nice & crispy. Papaya salad was Thai style so not pungent and the Sassy Basil had great flavor. Reservations can be made, but they don't have an online system for doing that, and don't take reservations until 4 pm. Also, with their busy take out orders, getting through on the phone is a point of friction they would do well to fix. That aside, the restaurant is very pleasant esthetically with colorful lights, window sunshine and a generally upscale, but friendly vibe. Prices are reasonable and the service is unfailingly great. We had their pork eggrolls, which are crispy and satisfying. My wife had the Sesame chicken which was good, but not as good as her favorite sesame chicken at Shuang Cheng restaurant in Dinky Down. My go-to is the Chicken "Slayer" stir fry which is mushrooms, peapods, carrots, bamboo shoots, and onion with a very garlicy sauce. You can opt to have a choice of proteins (or tofu or veggie only). To me, it is consistently very good. The portions are large, but neither of our leftovers were very good reheated. It would be nice to be able to get a smaller portion.

Amazingly for living in the South West Suburbs of Minneapolis (or maybe a little farther than what…read moreyou would consider that), I had never been to Lat14. Lat14 Asian Eatery is a critically acclaimed restaurant in Golden Valley, Minnesota, created by Chef Ann Ahmed. Its name comes from the 14th parallel north, inspiring a menu of bold, shareable Southeast Asian dishes from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines. The food was phenomenal, which shouldn't be surprising coming from Chef Ann Ahmed's pedigree of awards. We started with a couple of appetizers. First was the Basil Wings which were Tempura Fried with Thai Basil, Jalapenos, and a Signature Dry Rub. Wow the tempura gave a satisfying crunch with a beautiful zing of spices. Next was the Snow Crab Wontons which were filled with Cream Cheese, Snow Crab, and served with Apricot Sweet Chili. These were stuffed with crab and you totally could taste it. The sweet/spicy sauce with nice acidic bite cut through the cream cheese very well. For my main, I went with the Lao Yum Salad which consisted of Mixed Greens, Tomato, Cucumber, Red Onion, Toasted Almonds, Watermelon Radish, Hard Boiled Egg and Lao Yum Dressing. Perfectly balanced and the dressing was delightful. Oh, and can't forget about the House Pickle Assortment of delicious tangy morsels. ___

I used to go at least once a month when living in state and on the west side of the river, especially when they had happy hour (the one negative aspect I have to report. But I digress...) Ann Ahmed is a Laotian-American Minnesotan and 3 times James Beard semi-finalist. This restaurant is known to serve food around the "14th latitude" and is FAMILY STYLE, so keep in mind while ordering. The food also comes out as it is ready rather than all at once per course. My twin sister and I went one cloudy summer's afternoon and sat outside on the patio, surrounded by lush greenery under decorative cloth shading hung above us. Of course, we got the lumpia, which they split in half for us since it was only us two and they come 3 to a plate (or 4 if you pay an extra $8 or something...) and the nam khao for "starters." For once, we both decided to try something different rather than our go-to (heavenly exquisite) Khao soi (sincerely, just divine). I ordered the pad thai with fried tofu and she ordered the squash curry with a side of roasted chicken to add. We both also got cocktails. I got the mango margarita and my sister got the old fashion (lat 14 style). The lumpia are crispy, flaky and filled with the perfect ratio of succulent pork to fillings served with a spicy dipping sauce. When cut in half, they sear the end of the cut portion to seal in the flavor and contents. Next came the khao soi, a dish to tantalize and tease the palate with the crunch of puffed rice and peanuts and the umami bite of pork flavored with lemongrass and other seasonings wrapped in a crispy lettuce leaf. Living currently in Miami, an absolute vacuum for even gross asian food, I was CRAVING pad thai and Lat 14 delivered. Perfectly cooked noodles with the right amount of sauce (not too dry and not swimming either) with lots of protein, perfectly cooked scrambled egg, fresh beansprouts that don't overcrowd the other ingredients and the crushed fresh peanuts hit every note my taste buds craved. I also was allowed to try the curry and never knew squash curry with coconut was the flavor I missed in my life. All in all, is it pricy? Yes. Are the portions also generous? Most definitely. Is it worth it and your wallet will be begging you to lighten itself by another visit? ABSOLUTELY! Also, our server was attentive, knowledgable and kind.

We got the silver set and an order of scallops and we had leftovers! Plenty of food for two people. The scallops were huge and meats were quality. Pretty clean, not a lot of marinade so if you like more salty/ flavor, dip in a lot of sauce. It's a good option if you like to cook your own food due to quality of meats provided.
