We had a resort but still had to wait. They only had 3 servers and a robot (which was cool!) And the place was packed. The service was slow. The lady was so busy that didn't explain how the burners worked or how the souce table worked. Luckily I am familiar with hot pot. I can see how a newbie would struggle. The good was great, fresh and alot. We got the all you can eat deal. The place was not the cleanest but I would go back. Next time we are doing the 5 items instead of the all you can eat. Been here a couple of times... once for lunch and once for AYCE dinner. I've been on a hot pot kick for the past couple of months trying out new places and figuring which is the best for variety, taste, freshness, and price. This place is great! The staff are also very friendly and attentive. I suggest coming early, as this place gets pretty packed during peak lunch/dinner hours. Also, I know this place looks a bit sketch as it's right next to a run down looking motel, but don't let that deter you from a great hot pot experience! The lunch is 5 items for $15-ish. They give you quite a bit, so keep that in mind when ordering your veggies. There are lots of sauces to choose from. I really like the peanut sauce. They even give you a complimentary ice cream after your meal, which I think is great if you like the spicy soup (definitely need a milk product to help calm the spice). The AYCE dinner is $30.95, but they charge $2 for broth (if you choose from the many different flavours) or $2.50 for half & half. You can get the Ginger and Green Onion broth for free, which is just as good. I got this and added extras from the sauce station. This place is a little whole in the wall restaurant who has the best hot pot! Been here at least 6x and its consistantly good! Each person gets their own pot of broth (you can choose from several types) and many dishes to fill you up. The basic concept is you cook your own food and spice it up as you wish. During the day they have a all you can eat buffet and they also have a lighter night menu. On friday and saturdays its open until 3am! We always come here for the late night special for $15. You get to pick 5 items and have access to unlimited extras like peanut sauce & garlic. The service is fast, food is delicious and the menu large. read more

I decided to give this location a try since my usual place Chili Hot Pot is closed for renovations. I was also introducing my cousin to hot pot for her first experience. What a disappointment for her. They have a different system than I'm used to, less selection but that's understandable with the set price rather than it being all you can eat. First, neither our server nor the chefs knew whether or not any of the broths contained tree nuts (whole or even their oil added in as a flavor- I'm allergic). We ordered a fountain pop which never arrived and I had to inform the wait staff to remove it from our bill. Now for the food. While my sliced sirloin and "crab sticks" were standard with nothing to complain about, the shrimp was the WORST thing I've ever received at any restaurant. I've attached pictures but they must have been super old because the meat simply disintegrated and they bled. I've never see seafood bleed before, and the heads seemed to be almost pressurized (animals that have been dead for awhile tend to expand due to the gases created during decomposition). It was like gorey bubble wrap, I got shrimp brains and blood all over my arms. My cousin and I both gave up after trying to deshell 4 or our 8 combined shrimp. I've never been so disgusted. Do you think we were able to get the attention of the wait staff to get more napkins to clean our selves up? No. Apparently 3pm is lunch for every member of the staff and if you are there during that time, they sit at the tables beside you and completely ignore you. I have service where you're made to feel like an inconvenience. Like they are doing you a favor by getting paid to stand there. I ended up having to steal from adjacent tables in clear view of our server and she didn't care. I've hear the downtown location is nothing like this one (we only came to the south side one because we were going for lunch and the downtown one didn't open until 430). I'd give that a try but I'll NEVER bring another person to this location. Absolutely inexcusable on the service, I'm only giving two starts because the restaurant itself is nice and the food other than the shrimp was fine. read more

Fantastic. I don't know how else to describe it. I had the lunch special: - satay soup base - beef sirloin - featured beef - shrimp mash - basa fish - potato noodles - spinach (my contribution to fibre) It was awesome and I couldn't eat anything afterwards. Therefore, if it was all you can eat in he evening, I could of had more variations but not more quantity because it was just perfect. Sorry, no photo as I just couldn't be bothered after the food arrived. Actually, for those who know hot pot, the pictures are of raw products. I thought this place was good value. I visited during lunch and you get a choice of broth and 4 sides plus your choice of rice or noodles for something around the 13$ mark (sorry can't remember exactly). The restaurant is quite big and filled up for lunch time when we visited at around 11:30. They have a good selection of sauces but the servers here really lack in customer service as nobody explained anything to us inc. making your own sauce, turning the heat on for your hot pot at your table, etc. I ordered the spicy broth and thought it was pretty good, but really not that spicy. We both ordered a mix of veggies and meat dishes. I think next time, I would order just meat to get my money's worth. They load on the veggies on your plate to make it look like a ton of food, but stingy on the meat portions. Side note but the washroom here was kind of a nightmare. My rule for dining out is that I never use a bathroom at a Chinese restaurant and I should probably have stuck to that rule here lol. Worth checking out during times of the day when it's cheap. I'm SO disappointed with how much downhill this place has gotten. My best friend and I used to come here every week, sometimes even 2-3 times a week. The portions are so small now, and the broth is all extremely salty. The server also told us that they would be closing in 15 minutes when we arrived at 11.. And they close at 12:30?! Right when I heard that I knew I wouldn't enjoy being here. The meats are all frozen when you get them and like I said earlier -- SMALL PORTION SIZE. The meat is also really bad quality. My meat was all crunchy when I ate it. Crunchy. Yes. You read that right. The only thing I liked was the spinach I ordered. The prices went up(?) and is 15.95 for the late night special. Also while we were in the middle of eating a server (who clearly saw my friend and I were about to take a bite of our food) shoved the debit machine onto us. Extremely bad service and extremely bad food quality now. It's so saddening to see that a restaurant that used to be my favourite has gone completely downhill. read more

Grade B+ / A- Very good value for lunch ($14.95) which allows you to choose your one flavoured broth plus five (5) items such as meats or seafood or vegetables or noodles, and even steamed rice. There is also all u can eat dinner ($29.95) or a dinner ($18.95) option similar to the lunch style. For late night they have a $12.95 special starting from 9pm onwards and is similar to lunch offering. Broths range from bone broth to satay to thai curry to spicy. They also have a condiment station where you scoop up your dipping sauces but also your garlic and ginger and diced peppers and green onions to add into your broth. Good ingredients followed up by good portions and value for a lunch wt friends or family. Also comes with a finishing scoop of ice cream as desert. Cannot ask for anything more for a meal. Good for families and groups as the restaurant is roomy. Restaurant is welcoming and can get busy but has ample parking. Service is quick and you pay by going up to the cashier after the meal. read more

You must experience this at least once! As our first hot pot experience perhaps I am biased but we loved it! Our veteran friend showed us the ropes and he showed is how to order and made some recommendations for what he liked best- very helpful to go with a friend the first time. We actually came early and the waitress, May, that served us was so friendly. She really made an effort to remember our names and every time she walked past she was sure ask how we were doing, and top up our broths with more hot water. For the newbie: you pick a broth or you can pick two broths and have them side by side separated in your hot pot. This is what you cook you raw food in. You dunk it, let it cook, pull or spoon it out and dip it, or just eat it. What can you cook up? So many things to choose from but we really enjoyed the bamboo shoots, lamb, beef, squid, fish balls, mash, mushrooms, taro, and crunchy crab bites. A wow factor- the tables that have embedded heating elements for each persons broth. The dipping station was fascinating- you can even sprinkle on some MSG. Each item is labelled and should you make a dipping sauce not to your taste or just want to eat items right out of your hot pot no worries just ask for another bowl. Since you cook your food in a broth it gives your food the flavour of your broth. We had the Butter and Satay- so good! And the spicy mushroom- also delightful and quite a bit more spicy(in it was also some black fungus which was super tasty). Lots of parking and it's a short off shot off of gateway. read more

Surprise late night visit and surprised by some good late night fare. I had the same soup base with ramen and person I was with had spicy soup with ramen. Sate I liked good depth of flavour but a bit on the oily side like many sate soups. I tried the spicy soup and didn't like it at all, it had a bitterness to it and the spice flavour didn't have the richness of the sate soup. I did enjoy being able to season my soup to my taste with extra chillies, soya sauce, sesame oil, etc. Heck, they even had msg if you wanted it. Let's be honest, this ain't no gourmet fare but it's a great way to feel like you're in some late night Hong Kong eatery (not that I've been to Hong Kong before but that's what I imagine). Went here for the special after 10pm where you can get five kinds of meat for less than the usual amount. They have special sauces where you can mix and create your own special concoctions to add to your meal. For any allergy sufferers out there, make sure you stay away from the sauces as they have peanut and sesame sauces in and around the rest of the sauces. The staff were nice enough to give us sauces straight from the bottle though which was nice. Don't wear your nice clothes or, expect to wash whatever you're wearing right away because the smells though good while eating ain't so hot on your clothes. read more

This is the best place to have a late night snack if you are craving for a small satisfying express meal. They have a menu after 10:00pm - where you can order 1 soup base, 4 items and 1 choice of noodles for $11.95!! I think it's an awesome price for a decent amount of food in soup. And you can gab with a friend and sit there for an hour or so. I love how neat and labelled the sauce station is and you can easily find the spices you're looking for. The vegetables and meats are always fresh and they bring it to you really fast. This restaurant is an extension of the Asian Hot Pot on 97Street, but it has a lot more tables and space for larger parties. You can always upgrade to the normal hot pot meal for $25, but I only come here for the express size. The staff is the usual Chinese people - sometimes you get great service and other time, you just don't exist to them. I love the slow cooking and eating and talking with my friends over food. I've gotten a lot of my friends addicted to this lovely hot pot place. =) read more

Seriously, I have never waited that long, EVER! Finally after what seemed like forever, a lady came over to take our order. She told me it would be $30 for my 10 year old, which is outrageous. One of many hot pot places in the area; this isn't the classiest looking one, although it's also not the most divey looking one either. However, the broth quality is good, the sauce selection is everything you'd expect, and the quantities are generous. I went here with a co-worker whose (Asian) wife and family come here frequently and are probably better judges of the authenticity than I am; personally I was totally happy with everything. Lunch is reasonably priced and prompt, and I will likely be back for more lunches or maybe dinners also! Standard fair for hot pot choices - different broths, various sliced meats, seafood, veggies, and appetizers. Food was good, hard to mess up when it's raw and you cook it. However the plating needs improvement - shrimp, veggies, and seafood came sitting in water. With my littles, slide a plate and water or food juices everywhere. For AYCE, I'd expect service to be snappy. Feed the people and clear the plates asap to turn the table over faster. Lingering customers continue to eat. Had to flag servers down several times for more food and dessert. Simply asking how we're doing goes a long way for customer service. $27.95 adults, $13.95 kids 3-9 years old. Didn't expect to be there for 2 hours, but did and with kids, waiting at our table full of dirty dishes for dessert?!? No thanks. And then had to wait at cashier for our bill. I always come for lunch hot pot as it isn't "all you can eat". You are given a menu where you choose a broth and 5 foods you can cook in your broth. My go-to is a noodle (usually sweet potato noodle), broccoli, basa fish filet, beef tendon and another vegetable. It's still a lot of food so you will not leave hungry, that's for sure! It's also cheaper than if you were to order all you can eat. They also have this option for dinner but it's an additional $5 for dinner ($13.95 vs $18.95). If you are going with a big group, it's best to make a reservation! read more

4.5 stars. I love this hot pot place! It's a large, clean, nicely lit restaurant with plenty of seating. They were able to accommodate our party of 15 people! They have lunch and late night snack hours where you pay around 12 dollars for about 5 items. The menu has fewer options at this time, but does include a lot of the staple items. For dinner they have the typical all you can eat hot pot. For 30 dollars you get your soup and as much food as you can consume. Appetizers are included in the 30 dollars. If you want to eat 5 green onion cakes you can do it! Dinner time has a wide variety of food available. The sauce table has a large variety and is clean and spacious. They have delicious green onion cakes and the Satay broth is my favourite. I took of a half star for service, there has been the odd time where it is hard to flag down a server to order more food or drinks. read more

This place is quite unique to say the least. A friend and I walked in and got seated right away which was nice. We opted for the hot pot option which is where they bring you broth in a pot and you do the cooking at your table. We ordered several different kind of meats and vegatables. The drawback was that even though it was around midnight that we went, it still took a good 20ish minutes for the food to come out. I accidently put too much red pepper in my soup but it still turned out pretty good. Once you're broth comes, you cook it in front of you and add the meat or vegetables in at your own pace. This is one of those places that you should be prepared to stay for a while if you go. My friend and I stayed for about 2 hours. This used to be my go to spot for hotpot! I would go at least 2 times a week. But unfortunately had a bad experience. It was late night and of course my friends and I were craving hotpot. The hours said it closed at 2:30 it was around 12. I made a call asking what time they close and they said last call is around 1. So I asked if it would be ok if we came within ten minutes they said it would be fine. When we got there they told us they had no room. I did tell them that we called and they said we could come, we called only TEN minutes before. The people inside were almost finished their meals so it was really frustrating that they didn't tell us they had no room on the phone. The person I spoke to seemed not to care about our frustration. After we had left two people went in and they were taken in. We would have been fine to wait a bit. They lost a couple loyal customers because of this. On the second visit, had two order sheets that were submitted - some items were not delivered off of each sheet. It wasn't even busy when this happened. We usually go to Urban Shabu in Chinatown. Thought we would try this place because it's way closer to where we live, esp with all the construction downtown right now. We should have just spent the extra half hour driving because this was truly awful. We can only comment on lunch, but it was nowhere near as good. At Urban Shabu you pay something like $12.95 for 5 choices, and you get a big bowl of veggies complimentary. They also give you dessert. At this place you get 5 choices including veggies, which are not complimentary, and you have to choose a type of noodle which brings it up to 5. The quality was nowhere near as good, we ordered the shrimp balls, shrimp, crab stick balls, fish paste, mushrooms, fungus, and pumpkin. It was about half of what we are used to getting for the same price, and nothing tasted good. The mushrooms where just white button mushrooms, the shrimp balls were spongy and looked like cut up hot dogs. The soup base choices were about half as many as we're used to, and the two we chose were not good at all. We LOVE spicy food and I cant eat a meal without covering it in hot sauce, we both chose less spicy (because there is an entire condiment bar with types of chili you can add yourself) and it was too spicy, and way too salty. We both kept biting into HUGE chunks of raw ginger. We were not offered drinks, we were staring at the beers in the fridge. Nobody came around to ask or take our dirty plates etc...Once we got our food they didn't come around once, not even to give us the bill. We definitely wont be back. Love the food here, especially on cold winter nights! The steam will surely clear your sinuses. There is a bit of a language barrier issue with the staff, but they are friendly. Don't expect them to understand if you have gluten sensitivity, or other dietary restrictions etc. know how it works before you go, or bring someone with you who knows how to order. Flat rate per person, which includes a small appetizer, main hot pot meal, and a small dessert. Choose your soup base on the form they give you, then choose whatever else you want from the list (note, some items ar seasonal) . I usually wind up paying about $33.00 with tip, which does seem a bit steep, considering you cook the food yourself. However the ingredients are fresh and I always leave feeling satisfied. Also, don't forget to grab some sauce from the sauce bar at the front of the restaraunt! read more

Service was good but I've had cheaper hot pot with the same amount of options and sauces. I ordered some shrimp as well which I figured would come with the head on and shell (not really unusual in Asian restaurants) however when trying to take the shell off of maybe 3 or 4 I noticed all of the shit from the lack of deveining, in short there was lots of shit in the shrimp literally. I have never purchased or eaten shrimp at a restaurant that looked this filthy, after seeing that I just couldn't keep eating and thought it was worth mentioning as that and the price are why I won't return. read more

Even when they had only downtown location, I loved their food. I literally went there ever week for three months so the owner started recognizing me! In the new location in the south, the quality of the food is still AWESOME but the restaurant is larger, cleaner and nicer. Plus, it's a lot closer to my place. If you are not familiar with hot pot, it may be better for you to come with someone who is, or else you don't know what to do with all those raw food. Simply you get an individual hot boiling pot with flavored broth and you put your food in there and eat when it's done. The best soup base for me is wild mushrooms - usually I go with half regular and half spicy- and I found their featured beef is better than sirloin. Their handmade shrimp and squid balls (or mashed) are the best! For sauce which you would have to choose and mix it in your own bowl at the sauce bar, I go with hoison, chilli, sesame (not oil), a bit of garlic paste and lots of green onion. It's just sad that it's all you can eat and I can't eat a lot. Therefore when I decide to go, I make plans ahead lol I tried other hot pot place but I prefer this place because of their wild mushroom broth. read more

Our family decided to try this location only because they open late and they have a late night special, but paying 15.99cad for broth and 5 sides excluding veggies is not a "special" at all. Their base trio special is too salty, you won't be needing any dipping sauce at all. I thought it was just me but everybody thought the broth were all salty for our taste ( nothing added from the sauce bar). Also, when they start to clear up your plates , hang on to one especially if you have fresh shrimp as there is no place to put shrimp peels. First off, the food is awesome. It is. But the rest of the experience left me wanting. The servers would barely look at us, it was kind of dank, and the location isn't the best in the world (unless you love skeezy no-tell motels, then you're good to go!). This was a rec from a friend who went with us to eat here, and, honestly, once the food got there, it was tasty. The sauce bar had a decent variety and all the meat was fresh. I would recommend going for lunch, as it's about half the price for about the same amount of food! They do have specialty items, like heart, tendon, tripe and the like, which is great if you enjoy that (I do). But on the other side of things, the booth we sat in was not secured to the floor, so we were sliding all over as we shifted in our seats, and we had to kill a fairly large spider with the water jug. Me and my partner needed a place to eat on a long weekend Sunday night, not many pho/hotspot places are open after 10pm. We decided to try here, and we were not disappointed!! Food came out quick, fresh, service was very friendly and helpful, broth was delicious, and they had a huge assortment of sauces neatly labeled at the front of the restaurant.
