The location is not the best, but if you can get past the crowd and the front door it's worth it. We came late at night, right before the kitchen was about to close (which we didn't know about until we walked in). And we also came with a very large group. Honestly they had all the reason to kick us out, but the staff took care of us regardless. Since we were late we just picked the soup broth and 5 add-on's. I got the Herb and Lamb broth. It was delicious, savory, and hearty. And for the add-on's, I picked the sliced Beef Sirloin, Enoki Mushroom, Napa Cabbage, Fried Tofu and Flat Rice Noodles. They didn't have Fried Tofu so I asked to substitute for Fried Bean Curd instead. Looking back at this now, I'm glad (and I'm sure the kitchen was too) that we only picked 5 things. AYCE would've been too much and too overwhelming with all the options there. And honestly, they gave us so much for the 5 things we ordered. It was a whole spread of meat and veggies. I am a regular. The restaurant is affordable and had good experiences most of the time. The only exception is that one time when two of the staff assumed that we don't speak their languages and we end up hearing some snide comments about us on whether or not we would be able to afford the food. Although that was unprofessional on their part, at least it was entertaining to see their reactions when we responded back in said languages and that added to the experience. read more

Ventured out in the cold today with a friend to try out Asian Express Hotpot for the first time during YEG's Chinatown Week! After reading fellow Yelpers reviews, I knew we were in for a treat and most excited to lose my hotpot virginity! Located just a couple blocks off of the main 97th street Chinatown businesses and next to a couple of the local shelters. I arrived early after reading the reviews of needing to wait even with reservations at time. They opened a few minutes early and I slipped in before 11am. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful and spacious interior and immediately knew this was gonna be a winner. My friend and I both ordered the Chinatown Week Set Menu - $15 Appetizer: two golden fried buns (served with condensed milk) Main: Hotpot (soup base, choice of four items, vegetable basket) The server let us know that we would actually be allowed to order a bonus 5th item and explained the options to us. My friend opted for the Thai Curry Base and I opted for their spiciest Base called Spicy Soup. Both were out on tables within minutes - and soon started to simmer and boil filling the air with the most delicious aromas ever. Less than five minutes later our fresh meat/fish, vegetable, and noodles arrived. I hadn't realized or understood thoroughly that they'd be bringing a large array of vegetables in addition to what I selected. This was a very pleasant addition and as it turns out - the veggies were one of the best parts! I was excited to try the sweet potato noodles - they cooked surprisingly fast at just a minute or two. The shrimp were large but did come with heads on and I had to ask for napkins several times proclaiming that I was probably the messiest adult (aka toddler) that had ever eaten at their fine establishment. The waitress was nice but didn't get it and kept bringing me only one napkin. Seriously, I was like a toddler with sauces and soup and ladles and shrimp heads flying. Our waitress offered to make us her special dipping sauce - and it was delish! I'm pretty sure it had sesame oil, hoison, peanut sauce, and hot red chili peppers. About half way through the meal I remembered that I could make my own sauces and hopped over to the seasoning/sauce/topping mecca and created away. Shortly thereafter the fried buns with condensed milk came out - warm, a bit of crunch to the outside but soft inside, and sweet condensed milk. Definitely yummy but not really an appetizer and not quite a mid meal bite. Really tasted more like a dessert but yummy none the less. All in all, my friend and I spent just over an hour here and had a wonderful time and are already planning on returning. Upon paying at the till they offered us ice cream which I found odd at that point but thoughtful none the less. Maybe next time I'll save room for ice cream we were far too full to give it a try today. If you can get out here before Chinatown week is up - you'll snag all this for the low price of $15, but have no fear - their prices appeared to be quite reasonable at only a few dollars more at menu price. (After reading more Yelp reviews, I definitely need to come back with the hubs and try the all you can eat option - giving it all a whirl! Love the 63 Ave location, so decided to come here to see if it's any different. Had the lunch special which is 5 items for $15.95. I think the major difference is getting a free vegetable basket, which is great so you can load up on the other items. Was pretty stoked they put pumpkin slices in there. Love those! You still get a free ice cream dessert as well. They also offer the AYCE for lunch. I didn't check the price, but I'm sure it's the same as the other location ($30-$32). We had the bone broth and Thai curry broth. Both were flavourful and the curry had a good kick to it. So good! And I love the peanut butter paste! The peanut sauce at the 63 Ave is a bit watery compared to this one. The staff were also great and friendly. The only issue I have is that it's farther away for me... but you know, for the price, quality, and experience... I'll make the trek out for sure! Also, there's a bubble tea place right next door, if that's what you're into. PS. Don't mind the sketchy area... area seems a bit runned down, but you definitely won't notice once you start eating. I'm drooling as I write this because I could go for some hot pot on this rainy day. Was my first time here on a Sunday and was it pretty busy! The lunch special is everyday from 12-4:00pm for $14.99. You pick your broth, 5 items from the menu and you get a small complimentary basket of vegetables AND a small scoop of ice cream after. Off to the side they had all the oils, sauces and toppings you could imagine, my only suggestion is that they monitor/keep it clean since it's high traffic spot. It's really the experience when you go to Asian Express. Given that it's "Asian hot pot" - expect to cook your own food. I always like to joke that it's like "fondue - Asian style" to my friends trying it for the first time. Fortunately, the ingredients are always fresh. Some of their signature 'dishes' and our favorites are the seafood and meat mashes. Other than that, your usual sliced meat selections, veggies, fish balls, etc. are all on the menu. The prices are comparable to any other all you can eat restaurant and their food tastes delicious and authentic! It's a private hot pot here so everyone can choose their own broth and pick what they want to cook in their pot. The menu is extensive and has almost everything you could want in it! The meats all tastes very fresh and I was blown away by their onion cakes and spring rolls. Apparently, not only can they provide awesome broth and fresh food to cook in your hot pot, they also do a fine job cooking up appies themselves! They sometimes don't give you as much as you've ordered, but it's an all you can eat so it doesn't matter at all. If you run out and will want more, just order a second round! Four of us went for supper at Asian Express Hotpot - first time Hotpot experience for all of us. 1 Vegan, 1 Vegetarian and 2 Omnivores. Staff were very helpful on explaining the process. It was $30 all you could eat. We got there at 5:30 on a Thursday evening, the street outside is sketchy, but the interior is clean, bright and not crowded. We did not have a reservation and when we arrived the place was empty but shortly after filled up. We all ordered our broth for cooking I had a split pot with Tom Yum Kung / Chicken Ginseng the rest of our party settle on Miso. The Tom Yum Kung was absolutely delicious (not to say the others were not). We then got down to ordering the raw food that we would cook. Featured beef is a fatty version, sirloin more lean - I preferred the taste of the fatty of course. Pork, Shrimp ball and Crunchy Lobster balls were all good as well. recommend the Ramon, Udon and Sweet Potato noodles, all have a different texture and taste so get some for the table and share them around. All the veggies were very fresh and cleaned you really cannot go wrong. You are given a fairly small bowl and plate. I recommend when ordering the items think about the combinations of bowls you will make yourself. The cool part is that as you drop in items and fish them out to eat the both changes in flavour and gets better and better as you go - so make sure you are hungry when you arrive. There is a dizzying array of sauces, spices, oils, vinegars available at the sauce bar - go crazy! The waitress made is up a little bowl with a mixture of several sauces - it was wicked - ask her to make you some. Included in the price is a scoop of icecream - nice way to finish and the staff brought us a complimentary hot sticky bun and condensed milk dip... Holy Mackinaw that was good. $30 a head seems steep, but when you see the quality and freshness of the raw items you are given, the speed at which the staff bring it to you and overall experience of cooking and experimenting it is money well spent. This place is the perfect example of the shadier a restaurant seems on the outside, the better the food is going to be. It sounds horrible but it's kind of true. Unfortunately this place isn't in the greatest location but stepping inside, that doesn't even matter at all. The restaurant is super clean and it's never overly packed. Which is surprising considering this has to be to highest regarded Hotpot place in Edmonton. First things first - if you haven't had hotpot before I would definitely suggest you go with someone who has because it can be a little bit of a culture shock if you're going in blind. Most people don't order from the actual menu, they order from the little paper given to you where you check off the items you'd like to have in your soup. That's where you can choose your broth, your meats, your veggies, noodles, side orders etc. Now the first time I went I wish I hadnt ordered so many veggies as my add ons - because each hotpot comes with a side order of veggies! So, if you're a big meat eater like myself I would suggest filling up your 5 add ons with a noodle and meats. If you don't know what to get I always go for a chicken broth (very light flavor, familiar and it can go with a lot of items), the featured beef slice, lamb slice, Japanese crab sticks (highly recommended - not super fishy and really tasty), vermicelli noodles (I like them because they're light and won't fill you up too much) and whatever dumpling or extra thing I want to get. Like I said, this is my go to because it's a pretty basic arrangement of items and it's hard to go wrong choosing that - nothing is too spicy or exotic. As for "how it works" - once the waitress has taken your order I would suggest walking over to the table near the entry to get your sauces. It's a help yourself sort of set up so you just grab one or two dishes located under the table and pick whatever you like. My favorites are the XO sauce (which looks intimidating but doesn't have any overpowering flavor to it), chilli sauce, peanut sauce (basically watery peanut butter, it's so good), and hoisen sauce which goes best with any sea food you get. Once you get your sauces the waiter/waitress will bring out a bowl of veggies, a plate of your raw meats and the bowl of broth that goes in the 'hole' in your table. So right away I usually turn on the little area that the bowl of soup goes into, that way my soup can stay warm. The buttons are across from your stomach, under the table top but not underneath the table. You press the power button and choose the desired heat from 1-5. I usually end up going up and down throughout my meal but P3 is a safe bet. And then finally all that's left is to grab a little meat, noodle and veg, then place it in your bowl to cook! Obviously I would suggest putting meat in first, leave for a few seconds and then add a little veg and a little noodle. I say a little because you only want to put in what will fit in the smaller bowl you're supposed to eat from. NOT the big bowl in the table that you're heating. Once everything has cooked you take it out, put it in the smaller bowl, put your sauces in that as well as some broth and eat from there. If you run out of broth the waiter always comes with more which is pretty sweet. The meal comes with free ice cream at the end and it's always a different flavor. The workers are very organized, the restaurant is super clean and the food is always such great quality. It's a filling meal but not gut busting like pho would be (at least in my opinion). It's definitely something you need to try at least once if you never have - and this location in particular is awesome! read more

This review is a bit overdue. I came here on a double date with my neighbors. We both brought our little ones along as well. Luckily they had high chairs for both of them. It was a Friday evening before Christmas and good thing we had reservations as the restaurant was almost full when we arrived for a 5:30 seating and by the time we left, there were lots of people waiting in the doorway for a table. Service throughout the night was notable - with all the staff checking on us and efficiently clearing empty dishes away. Dishes came out quick and they even offered our little guys dessert first (a scoop of ice cream) to keep them entertained! You select your choice of broth - I stick with the traditional chicken with ginger and scallion broth - there's no extra charge for this flavour. But the other three selected different broths of their choice. Then you get a paper menu where you mark off what dishes you want to order. The misleading thing is you don't know how many portions come with each order so sometimes you can easily end up over- or under-ordering. But since it's an all-you-can-eat restaurant, under-ordering is a simple fix. The sauce bar near the front of the restaurant is loaded with tons of sauces so you can create any combination your heart desires to complement your meal. We ordered a ton of dishes to cook- unfortunately i can't remember it all, but included sliced beef, pork, pork belly, basa fish, shrimp, bok choy, lettuce, tofu, udon noodles, wonton noodles, wontons and more. A few cooked appetizers I tried included the spring rolls, dumplings, green onion cakes, and golden fried buns (that you dip with condensed milk) Dessert is also included but alas I had no room to try any of it. I know it included a scoop of ice cream, jello and something else. It's always so fun cooking your own food - plus it's super healthy! Huge amounts of food! This was my first visit but I came with a group who'd been before. Basically, you pick 1-2 types of broth which is placed in front of you over a heated burner; and you choose a selection of things you're going to cook IN the broth (typically thinly sliced meats, mushrooms, seafood). These come out on plentiful platters and once your broth is simmering you drop the extras into the broth and let it cook, then fish it out and eat it. The broth slowly gets tastier and tastier, and there are also a wide range of sauces you can add if you wish. The fish balls were nothing special, just tasted like a fishy paste, and I was not impressed by those or the dumplings; but the fresh meat and shrimp were delicious. Kind of a dodgy looking area but there's street parking right out front; wouldn't want to walk around here alone after dark though as a single woman. read more

The difference with this one is that you have dividers in your pot, enabling you to have two broths instead of one. This place is fantastic. Recently discovered by my sister, she's been making a lot people converts, and it's pretty easy to see why. What makes this place different from other hot pot places is that each seat gets its own hot pot -- yes, you read right, each person gets their own personal hot pot device and broth. Speaking of broth: you have a plethora of choices! Not just "normal or spicy" from other places -- you have a butter broth, a lamb broth, a Szechuan broth, and many more. My sister ordered the butter broth and I ordered a half/half lamb broth: one half spicy, one half regular. As it's a hot pot place, for $25, it's all you can eat -- you order from a piece of paper quantities of ingredients instead of having to go up to a buffet table to pick your own items. My favourite pieces were: lamb slices, fish, and squid. I also enjoyed the mussels, black fungus, and dried tofu sheets. Of course, a ton of veggie options are available, too, and you can even order spring rolls and green onion cakes! They even have a sauce bar where you can create your own exotic sauces and dips for your cooked items. It's a rare Chinatown place that takes reservations per table due to its popularity. It fills up pretty quick, apparently, on weeknights and weekends. I have been to this place twice, both times fully packed on a week day (Reservations are strongly recommended). It is kind of hard to survive if you do not know Chinese but in my opinion this is a very good sign. The main difference between this place and other hot pot places is that you have your own individual hot pot. As you enter the restaurant, you have to chose a broth, we chose spicy lamb and herbs broth. The broth is pretty basic but you can modify the taste with the large variety of sauces available. Then for a fix price (around 25$) you can order as many dishes as you can handle. We covered a good portion of the menu. My favourites were the shrimp paste, fresh shrimp, beef ball and squid. Make sure to order a lot of veggies and noodles to add to your soup. The most interesting part for me was the dipping sauce station. You have access to a lot of different ingredients to make your perfect sauce. I tried many different combinations, but my favourite was garlic + fresh chili + vinegar + peanut + oyster sauce and fresh cilantro. At the end a very simple ice cream is served as desert which was decent. Overall, I believe it is my favourite hot pot in Edmonton. read more

I don't enjoy eating hotpot, so this wasn't really an option for me. It was my cousin's birthday two days ago and because I had cousins coming in from Toronto and Saskatchewan, I figured I'd suck it up for a few hours and give hotpot another chance. I am so glad I did! We had reservations for 8 and we were seated right away. Each individual person received their own hotpot broth, which I thought was pretty neat. From what I'm use to its usually a huge pot and everyone just digs in. Not everyone enjoys the same broth so I was pretty excited to get my own "wild mushroom broth with half and half". They had a stand where you can pick your sauces, I opted for a few sauces, which I didn't even end up using, since the broth itself had so much flavor that I honestly forgot about them. We ordered tons of food such as seafood platters, meat pate, tofu, sliced chicken and beef, etc. the food was delicious! My fiancé really enjoyed the meal himself and loved the experience. The servers were kind and were on hand to ask if we needed anything. Anyone who knows of Asian restaurants know that customer service isn't their main priority. At the end of the meal we were given ice cream which I believe was vanilla and mango flavor. I devoured that thing and didn't really have time to think twice. Unlike other hot pot restaurants, Asian Express offers diners their own soup bowls, which can be filled with either one kind of soup broth, or split between a spicy and a regular kind. I'm always in the mood for something a bit spicy, so I tried the Szechuan half-and-half. While this soup was very tasty and had a noticeable kick, I wish now that I'd tried something a bit simpler to start, such as the Ginger and Green Onion soup base. The Szechuan, while tasty, had far too many bits and pieces in it (peppercorns, chilis, spices, and much more), and it was difficult to get some of the food out without accidentally biting down on a handful of peppercorns. Which, as you may have guessed, is terrifyingly peppery. The menu for meat, fish, vegetables, and noodles is extremely extensive and everything is served 'per order,' meaning that diners put a number beside the items they want and are served the regular order amount. We weren't sure how much we would get and didn't want to over-order, so we just put 1 or 2 beside a variety of food items, just to get ourselves started (you can always order more later). As you can see from the image above, the single orders for sweetcorn, mushrooms, and broccoli are fairly small, yet more than enough for one person (remember, you've still got meats and noodles to eat). The prawns and the fish balls are ordered 'per item,' which we discovered when one order of crab balls gave us...one ball. I didn't mind (since I was the one who ordered them), because I much prefer the fish balls at King's. These ones were a little too mushy for my taste. The meat orders, however, were extremely generous. And delicious. I'm a gigantic meat-eater, so we were barraged with plates full of thinly-sliced, nicely arranged sirloin beef, lamb, chicken, and pork. The meats at a hot pot restaurant have to be extremely thinly-sliced so that they cook in the broth within a matter of seconds (or minutes, if you want to be extra sure). Asian Express's seafood mashes are quite popular: mashed combinations of seafood and/or meat that hardens slightly when cooked in broth, turning out a large type of seafood ball or patty. We tried the handmade fish and squid mashes, which turned out to have much more of the consistency that I prefer in a hot pot fish ball. Very tasty, and quite adventurous if you're not a regular hot pot goer. As with any restaurant, and particularly hot pot restaurants, there are always going to be things on the menu that certain people don't like. What Asian Express does offer, though, is a wide selection of food, the ability to cook in your own soup pot (who actually likes sharing?), efficient service, and generally just a good, old fashioned time. Sure, the restaurant might get unbearably hot due to the sheer number of boiling pots, but it offers the fun activity of being able to dine with people while cooking your own food. read more

On a saturday night around 11:30pm after a long day at the mall, my friends and I decided we would go for hotpot. Never a bad idea! We decided to come to this particular one because one of my friends really loved this place and recommended us to try it out. The price was $27+$2 for broth so in totally comes up to around $30 depending on if you pay tips or order anything else except water. I found it pretty reasonable because almost all the other hot pot places are the same price. When we arrived there wasnt a lot of people considering the time which was nice because during busy hours hot pot places tend to get very loud. This location was opened till 2am so we had a lot of time to eat. When we first walked in we were immediately greated and taken care of. The waitresses and waiter was extremely kind. After ordering our meal they would pop by every so often to see if we needed anything. They also refilled the water in our individual pots regularly. If you have beenb to hot pot you would notice sometimes that some of the things you would order they would forget to bring it to you or bring you the wrong amounts BUT this place was on point. There was only one time that the waitress forgot to bring us the egg we ordered but she immediately brought it to us after we told her. At the end of our meal one of the waitresses askes us we would like dessert and she told us that there were strawberry or mango flavoured ice cream. Being the indecisive person i couldnt decide which one so she kindly told me that we could have two scoops! so all my friends and I got two scoops of ice cream. When it was time to pay the waiter brought us the bill and we paid and left the money on the table. If you have been to an asian place to eat , you may have noticed that if you dont go up to the table to pay usually they dont offer you candy that they have at the till but the waiter was so kind and came up to us with the bowl of candy and offered it to us. He also spoke to us in canto in a very friendly manner and urged us to take more than one. Like this might sound funny but the little things that restaurants do can make or break your experience but it definitely made mine very good. I really enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere was really good and overall my experience with the service was spectacular. I would definitely recommend this hot pot place over anywhere else. This was our first time at this particular hotpot. Its kind of hidden away in a shady area but don't let this dissuade you. Gotta say these guys were awesome. This could possibly be some of the most attentive service (and not in an irritating way either) we've ever had...perfect IMO. The selection of various broths was excellent, all ingredients were fresh and the place was tidy. I had the 50/50 pumpkin and miso. Thumbs up. The manager?/owner? as well as all staff were friendly and genuine. What more can one ask of an establishment I really couldn't say. Each of our party were also given a box of cookie rolls after our dinner as it was Chinese new year. Very cool and unexpected. IMO these guys have it all figured out and its proven by their reviews. Best time to eat here is probably when it's not during the holidays. It's so busy in the evenings and because the place is so small, you have to be ready to move around people. This place is a great place for a large group get together. Everyone gets there own individual hot pot and you get to choose your own type of soup base. It's nice to have more than once selection of soup. You mark down on there menu how many items you would like and the staff brings it to your table. I'm not sure if they were short staff or had a shortage of food or portion control?? We were a big group of 8 adults and 2 kids. We ordered many items that never showed up. I don't think it's that hard to put uncooked items together and putting more on the plates when we request the same items 4 times! But they were definitely quick when they needed to clear our plates...sigh... We all definitely felt like we didn't get enough to eat and I was still feeling hungry after. It's $25/person all you can eat and you're only allowed to stay 2 hours from the time you sit down, not the time you get your first plate of food. Since we had so many people, make sure you make reservations with the exact amount of people or else you will have to share your hot pot with someone else. That's what happened to me! LOL If you want to get more food into your stomach, try to stay away from rice, noodles and anything that has lots of starch. Drink lots of water AFTER you eat. There is a lot of MSG in the soup, so you will feel extremely thirsty after your meal, so make sure you drink lots of liquid when you get home. I love the selection of sauces they have at the sauce station. The vegetables, meat, seafood and all of there uncooked items are fresh. Also try not to wear your nicest clothing here, you're clothes and hair will smell like delicious hot pot after you leave. With all fair restaurant reviews, normally it be things like price, food atmosphere and etc... unfortunately I cannot fairly evalutate those things.. why? I one and only time I went there during the winter time, I tell the guy table for 3...tells me to go stand back outside in the -20 weather....dead serious. Congrats this place sets the fastest walk out I have ever had in a place.I got ticked off and went to All Happy Family, where I was welcomed. This was my first experience at hot pot and it was great! The staff could tell it was our first time and were very helpful with explaining how things worked. I went with the original broth & the miso but I think next time I'll get just plain and get my own combination of sauces in to customize it. The staff was very attentive and ensured we kept ordering or moneys worth and were quick with bringing us what we requested. Can't wait to come back for a second time. Absolutely delicious! Tons of selection on their menu, and nice, fresh veggies. I got a szechuan and mushroom split for my soup. Both were fantastic (but really who can taste anything after the peppers in the szechuan burn off your taste buds?)! They also have a selection of fried appies, with green onion cakes that are to die for. After you've gorged yourself on dinner, you can get ice cream or jello as dessert. Prices are fairly average for all you can eat hot pot. It's around $28 for the food, plus an extra $2 for the soup. Seems pricey, but it's well worth it. Plus there's a time limit of 2 hours so there's plently of time to eat. The places was packed when we went, but service was still pretty quick and the servers were beyond friendly. I took one star off because despite having a reservation, we had to wait 40 or so minutes to get a table. Definitely one of the better hotpot place in Edmonton. The restaurant looked clean and servers were polite. The sauce station was clean and well maintained with a good variety of dipping sauces and condiments. The lunch special is a deal not to be missed! It goes from 11am - 4pm or 10pm till close (i.e. 2.30am on weekends!). For $13.95++, you pick a broth, get a vegetable basket and pick 5 items (doesn't sound like much but it's more than enough!) for your hotpot. On top of that you get a fried bun to dip in condensed milk and a scoop of ice cream at the end of your meal. Whattt... I'll definitely be back! read more

Having lived in China for 12 years, I would say this is the most authentic hot pot restaurant I've been to in Canada. It's all you can eat, everything on the menu. And the way you can mix your own sauce and the variety of ingredients to put in the sauce match the best I've seen even in China. The staff were very friendly and we were served immediately. When we paid the bill, the debit/credit machine didn't work. The staff allowed us to leave to find an atm and get cash to pay the bill. That was annoying, but not their fault. Overall a great experience and I will go there again. Word of caution though, it can get pretty noisy in there and the tables feel a little crowded together. read more

I like this place a lot. We came twice in one month and had two different experiences. On Father's day, we were a party of 8. 6 adults and 2 kids. We came around 5:30 and the restaurant was not very busy. Service was so good and the ingredients were so fresh. I was instantly addicted. The mashes here are all really good and I just wanted to keep eating them. My kids ate free because they are only 1 and 3. I don't know at what age they start charging. The owner/manager? came to me several times to make sure everything was ok and that I had what I needed. When our bill came and we were eating the included dessert, he let me know that if I needed anything else or more desserts, just to let him know and he would take care of it. I was cleaning up the floor under the table where my daughter had spilled some food. He looked aghast and told me not to do that and he would clean it up after I left. I usually try to pick up as much food off the ground as I can before I leave any restaurant. I think it's plain rude to leave a big mess! Since he insisted, I did leave it but felt really guilty. On our second trip on Canada Day, around 5:30 and again the restaurant was not very busy but picked up closer to 7. The ingredients were very fresh and service was attentive. The major difference I noticed this time around was that our orders for ingredients were coming out in different quantities than what we had ordered and some items were not coming at all. I had read this was the case on many Yelp reviews but did not experience this on our first visit. I was concerned mostly that perhaps some items would come later and I didn't want to order it again in case we would have too much food. This was not understood by the server and we were encouraged to just order again. After our first visit, I made a guess that meat orders were by the 100 grams or so but on our second visit, the meat portions were very random even on the same meat but on different orders. My cousin and brother took me here as I'm considered an out-of-towner and they wanted me to try this place and comment. This place is pretty excellent - for value and service. The wait staff actually encouraged us to order and eat more since it's $25.00/person for all-you-can-eat. The dishes are selected on a piece of paper with Chinese and English described choices. Whatever you select they bring almost immediately, if not within 5 mins. Each person gets to have their own individual hot pot - which is the real big draw and advantage. Not only that, there's like a dizzying number of broths and soups to choose from for your starter hot pot. After that, they just refill with regular broth (probably chicken or vegetable stock). All the food is very pretty fresh and the choices range from beef and lamb slices, to veggies, noodles, and a couple of hot food items like green onion cake and spring rolls. The hot food comes quick and is a good starter will your hot pot arrives and is heated to boiling.
