I decided to stop in at a small Chinese joint long forgotten. It is located in downtown Lynn. The last time I was there I guess was over 20 years ago. I am not sure why I haven't stopped in??? I pass it all the time. Well today was the day!! I walked thru the big wood door and it was like I was transported back in time to 1980... The place was exactly the same.. The walls, the ceiling, the furniture and I think the waitress???? I was instructed to find my own table so I sat near the large windows so I could watch the passersby, which in turn were watching me as they passed..lol... I decided to order as I would have back in the day, so I started with a #19 which is a Wonton soup and is available with either Roast Pork or Chicken. I opted for the Roast Pork which was given sparingly along with some peapods, 3 wontons and what I believe was bok choy?? Anyway, the soup was great. It was exactly how I remembered all the Chinese restaurants from my youth making it. A flash from the past and a good one. I also ordered a pupu platter for one and yes, as you would assume by now, it was exactly how it was prepared 20 years ago. The pupu was pretty large for a serving for one. It included 3 chicken fingers, 2 chicken wings, 2 fried wontons, 1 steak teriyaki and a fried shrimp ring served along with a good amount of boneless spare ribs and an eggroll. I received all this for $20. and this included the tip :) Fun fact: They serve their duck sauce and hot mustard in ketchup and mustard bottles like you find at a picnic, the plastic squeezable ones..lol.. A little funny but very convenient.. If you're in Lynn and would like a nice lunch or early dinner, I would recommend to try Asian Garden. It seems like a local watering hole. Not to sure I was there approximately 4:00 and what looked like a loyal local crowd was starting to fill up the bar area. Most likely the regulars... I do have to mention the decor, The most interesting aspect of the decor from days gone by would be the interesting metal Asian decorated ceiling, it is amazing. also they have the older Asian door arches . The decor is very outdated, but I think it adds a new charm to the place in a world that is full of neon and flash... Give them a try... I will go back for a drink or lunch in the future. "A solid 3.8 Stars"

Enjoyed our meals AND Rum Punches! Beautiful sweet waitress, too!

Have tried many of the Korean restaurants in Allston and this, K Restaurant, seems to outrank them all! As for service -- indeed you pay first, but was a bit confused about the server/front desk who pretty much tell you to order before seated (choosing your own table), take your order, serve you with all the food, etc -- literally she handles all the customer service stuff -- wondering why she did not appear at pleasant or smile at all. Don't get me wrong, fully aware of wide range of personalities -- some appear more excited and enthusiastic than others others -- even without the the usual tipping at the end, and especially with the tipping at the end. Here, of course you pay -- and finalize your tip or no time before being served with your food, but still the server did not appear to greet or show those standard pleasantries expected all common in America ... She wasn't rude or anything. It just seems like she's not happy being there. Any event, just some thoughts here. Would definitely be back. And do recommend this place to others who want delicious meal but just note the above.

When…read moreour family was planning my nephew's celebration of life, they were kind enough to close the restaurant so we could gather privately, and it meant so much to all of us. This was my nephew's favorite spot, so it felt especially meaningful to be able to honor him there. As a Korean family, sharing Korean BBQ and hot pot together felt very fitting. The food was delicious --fresh, high-quality meats and vegetables, rich and flavorful hot pot broths, and a great selection of soju. The sauce station was also a highlight and really elevated the meal. Everything tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared. They even offered chicken nuggets and fries for the kids, which is such a considerate touch. So many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the food. What we will remember most, though, is the compassion and kindness shown by Jason and the staff. They created a warm, welcoming space during an incredibly difficult time and made it easier for our family to come together, share memories, and celebrate my nephew! We are truly grateful for everything they did and would highly recommend this restaurant--not only for the excellent food, but especially for the people and the care they show their guests.

This was my first time trying this style of dining where you cook the meat at your table, so I was really excited going in. Unfortunately, the food was not good at all. Several of the meats we were served did not seem fresh, and the overall quality was very disappointing. Instead of enjoying the experience, I found it unappetizing and honestly couldn't wait to leave. I know everyone has different tastes, but based on my experience, I would not return or recommend it. I was expecting a fun and memorable meal after such a special occasion, but it ended up being one of the worst dining experiences I've had.

I really appreciated how relaxed and welcoming the experience was. I enjoyed having different dining options to choose from: All You Can Eat, À la carte, or a combo meal. We went with the 2 for $68 combo, which came with a small selection of meats and vegetables and ended up being the perfect amount of food. I would tell anyone that doesn't like incredibly fatty meat, or that likes their food cooked beyond medium rare to dine elsewhere. The hostess was friendly, we told her we had never been to the restaurant before, she quickly walked us thru the menu. Our waiter came by, we told him we had never been there before. We ordered various dishes, and plates of meat were dropped off. No explanation whatsoever. As he turned to leave, I said again, we'd never been there before. No insight into how best/long to cook anything. Every meat dish was incredibly fatty, like, 2/3rds fat. I placed meat on the grill, it cooked very slowly. I asked him to turn up the temperature as we liked our meats cooked well, so he turned the heat up. At one point he said he was going to swap out the grill-pan, and turned the heat down, while meats were still cooking. This was incredibly frustrating, I felt like food was taking forever to cook, and the longer I sat there staring at the meat, the more annoyed I got. It was all you can eat. We didn't finish our first order of 5 dishes we were so annoyed. It was not worth the money, it was an unejoyable experience. I've only been to a few self-cook Korean restaurants previously, and generally liked them. I think the staff needs to be more aware when someone asks for guidance, that they should try to be more engaged. I left angry, and still hungry.

I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this experience was terrible…read more We dined in and ordered a 20-piece chicken meal with rice and sodas. The biggest red flag was that our food came out in less than 2 minutes. There's no way freshly made fried chicken is ready that fast. As soon as we took a bite, we knew why. The chicken was only lukewarm, extremely dry, and had that unmistakable old oil aftertaste, like it had been sitting around for hours before being reheated. Even the soda was flat. When we brought it to the waitress's attention, she told us Bonchon "fries the chicken in batches" and then "re-fries it." I'm sorry, but that explanation didn't make me feel any better. If the chicken is sitting around for hours just to be re-fried later, that's not the quality customers should expect. To make matters worse, getting a refund was like pulling teeth. We asked for a full refund so we could leave and eat somewhere else. We hadn't even touched the rice because after tasting the chicken, we had completely lost our appetite. The waitress argued with us and insisted she could only refund the chicken. After going back and forth, we gave up and left. Ironically, later that same day we went to the Bonchon in Lowell, ordered takeout, and the food was night and day--hot, fresh, crispy, and exactly what Bonchon should taste like. So this clearly isn't a Bonchon problem--it's a Bonchon Salem problem. Please do better. Customers shouldn't be served food that tastes old and reheated, and staff should handle complaints professionally instead of making customers fight for a refund.
