Asian Gourmet is pretty decent. Love their lo mein and chicken chop suey. However their crab rangoons are not good and their dumplings are atrocious. The staff is always nice though and it's decent to good cheap food. read more

Lansing isn't exactly a hotspot of good chinese food, but this place isn't bad at all. The sesame chicken was pretty tasty and the kung pao, though a bit bland, was enjoyable. The ribs appetizer was surprisingly good as well. Not the best chinese food you'll ever have, but a welcome addition to the Lansing food scene anyway. read more

Great take out chinese on the eastside. Food is hot and fresh. Delivery is fast as well. Not a place you'd want to dine-in, but the kitchen is clean, menu is large and the food is very good. I was extremely disappointed in my most recent experience ordering from Asian Gourmet. For the third time I ordered 'Crispy Duck'. According to the menu on your website this dish is 'Half boneless duck deep fried on top of Chinese vegetables with chef's special home made silky red soy sauce'. However, when it arrived to my house it was coated with peanuts. Luckily I noticed what it was before eating. I have a serious peanut allergy and would have had to go to the hospital, or worse, had I taken even one bite. Upon calling I received mostly excuses. 'Sometimes the cooks must forget the peanuts', 'it's the most expensive thing on our menu so I can't just make you another one', 'I can give you 20% off next time you order this dish'. Needless to say, I don't plan on ordering it again. Not thrilled that I was also told it was too late for the delivery driver to return to my house to pick up the poison (to me) food. The only way I could get a refund or a replacement dish was to bring it back myself. Terrible customer service which is a shame because, minus the inaccurate menu descriptions, I really did enjoy your food. Sadly, I cannot patronize your business anymore. read more

I'd tried this place twice then wrote it off for more than a year until one night when I wanted some food delivered and couldn't stomach the idea of pizza. Either the first two times I ordered were a fluke, or they've changed up how they do things. The general tso's chicken is still godawful, nothing but sweetness, and they still don't make anything spicy, but the dumplings are much improved and no longer delivered on a bed of cabbage. On top of that the orange chicken is pretty good, and the salt and pepper squid is EXCELLENT. Delivery is still fairly fast, food arrives hot, and it's well packaged. The crab rangoon is also pretty good, though as with seemingly all of the local Chinese places I have a strong desire to teach them how to make proper sweet and sour sauce instead of that unnaturally colored flavorless stuff. read more

I ordered chicken fried rice and beef lo mein. Both as the smaller (pint) size. I enjoyed both dishes just as much as PF Changs, and the portions were about the same at a fraction of the price. This was just for me and I was on a budget but didn't want to go out. Used the eat24 app to find it. Delivery was very fast and I had my food within 20 minutes of ordering. We've only had our first experience with this place -- have only tried a couple of dishes. Overall, it's a nice little convenient take out place, with a good mixture of authentic dishes and American dishes. (They also have some Thai dishes.) The food is well cooked. Not Chinese haute cuisine by any means, but good. We tried their fried Chive and Shrimp dumplings, the Sesame Sauce Noodles and their Mongolian Beef. (Two Chinese dishes and one that's commonly served in American restaurants.) The dumplings were the star of the night; they weren't the kind you find at dim sum (not the white translucent starch dough). These were more the kind you'd find at a dumpling house -- thick, chewy handmade wrappers. There wasn't much filling in them, but the dough is what these kinds of dumplings are about. They were lightly wok fried -- tossed in a lot of hot oil to give them a little crisp all over. With this kind of cooking, the fresher they are the better and so I'm glad we did pick up rather than delivery. The dumplings came with a slightly spicy homemade dipping sauce. They might have been frozen (since the filling tasted a tiny bit fishy), but they were hand made. (NOTE we have not tried their regular dumplings yet, so I can't say if the regular dumplings also have the homemade style wrappers.) The Sesame Sauce Noodles were also good. Nothing spectacular, and they were the American version: The "sesame sauce" is a peanut buttery sauce with sesame oil and a little hot pepper. (Not much.) The noodles were the yellow, chewy Chinese egg noodle type, which I thought went better with the sauce than the usual slippery wheat or rice noodles. Sprinkled with lots of green onion, and shredded peapod and carrot. The Mongolian Beef was ordinary but good. The beef was tender and the flavor showed showed a certain amount of "wok hei." That is, that smokey flavor that comes from good wok skills. There were a lot of onions -- as there should be in a Mongolian Beef. (It wasn't spicy at all. But I figure, if you want to get spicy food, go to Hong Kong Sichuan and order from the authentic part of the menu.) They are clearly looking to capture both American and Asian audiences here. They have a specials menu in both languages near the check out. This seems like the ideal sort of "quick take out" spot for locals on the East Side. I'm looking forward to trying some of their soup noodles in particular. We've needed this kind of place in this neighborhood. read more

The scallion pancakes were deep fried like tortilla chips, which is not how I've ever seen them prepared before. I also ordered pad thai, which was tasty, but it was orange (tomato based sauce?). Asian Gourmet used to be the best Chinese takeout (and a decent place to get Thai) in Lansing. I've ordered delivery from them since they opened and recommended them to many friends. Sadly, in the last few months things have taken a sharp downturn. The first problem was an order of Thai food with eggplant so undercooked I couldn't finish it. At the time, I chalked it up to a mistake and didn't think it was a big deal. The next time I ordered a shrimp dish and the shrimp tasted off. Really off. I was afraid I'd end up with food poisoning. But, again, I though maybe it was just an off day. I wanted them to be as great as they'd always been, so I gave them another chance. Last night, we ordered delivery again. And my boyfriend's Thai Basil with shrimp had the same funky tasting shrimp that he couldn't finish. At this point, I feel like it's not worth the risk to keep ordering. I'm so disappointed this place isn't the treasure it used to be. read more

I love this place. The food is fresh (and reheats wonderfully) and the staff is friendly. They are quick and willing to make alterations (more sauce, extra spicy, etc.) which I am happy to pay for. I have become sensitive to preservatives and flavorings - which makes eating in restaurants around town impossible, but I have no problems here. Egg Rolls, Spring Rolls, Shrimp Dumplings, and Wonton soup are all very good. I have them make the Bangkok Chicken and Beef with mushrooms/snow peas a little spicy (they usually aren't) - and they are wonderful. Take out is easily 3 meals for me and the leftovers hold up well with no aftertaste. I tried the Thai and said "not too spicy" - it was very good but it needed to be spicier. Next time I'll tell them not to hold back. I've been in for take out 4-5 times and it has been consistently friendly, fresh, hot and tasty. They're on my speed dial, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. read more

First experience eating there was when they first opened . Was just ok . They have definitely worked out the kinks and are on point now. Garlic Chicken was awesome. I ordered some food from here for the second time. The first time the food was delicious the best chicken I had tasted from a Chinese restaurant. The second time I ordered the food was terrible. I asked for food to be made extra crispy like I always order it. It taste like cook got food of buffet line it was cold and soggy. Rice was even cold the egg roll was the hottest thing. I could tell that egg roll was cooked fresh. I called to tell management about it and she tried to run some bullshit about I need to come in to get if I want it fresh and crispy. I was like wow really I paid my money for some cold food and this is all you have to say. Its crazy because I was telling my co-workers about how good the food was at first and we were thinking about having Asian Gourmet cater our Christmas Party. After this experience I don't think so. They make you pick delivery or pick up when you create an account thus locking you in to one or the other. That's not the worst of it. To pay with a debit card you have to give them all the credentials.. then in tiny letters it says: Credit Card will be processed in store, not online. What this means is they will have all information to make purchases as they please with whoever signs up. RIPE FOR ABUSE!!!! read more

Extremely disappointed with the service, and I am not the person to leave bad reviews. We paid extra for shrimp and vegetable on my dish. The dish came pretty average looking (less than 10 small shrimps total?) We thought maybe they forgot, mistakes happen. We did not want to wait for another delivery, so we called asked if we could have the $2 refunded. The lady on the phone said, because we only ordered medium, we only get a certain amount of shrimp and vegetable added extra. She told us to get large next time, so we would more extra items. I am not sure what their normal amount of veggies and shrimp (5 pieces per plate?). I am also not sure what I paid extra for. No, next time I will not be returning. read more

I ordered broccoli in garlic sauce and the orange chicken. It took over an hour to get here, and then when I got upstairs I realized that they sent beef and broccoli instead of broccoli in garlic sauce. I called back and they brought the right food very quickly. The delivery guy asked for the beef and broccoli back, so we exchanged the food (which I thought was odd, since most places would just give you a new order). Later, I bit into the egg roll and discovered meat in it, which I thought was very strange, since I had ordered a vegetarian dish. I called, and it turns out the egg rolls have pork in them even though the menu didn't say anything about meat. Anyway, the food generally wasn't very good. The broccoli was bland and the rice was overcooked and mushy. Definitely not worth the wait or the price. My boyfriend had gotten the orange chicken, which turned out to be flavorless. The only good part was the crab rangoon. In his and my own opinion, go elsewhere. There are much cheaper and better Chinese food places in the East Lansing area. read more
