Place looks good, service is pleasant, but the food is mediocre. The udon soup was near tasteless, so was the chicken with broccoli. The chicken lettuce wrap also was nothing compared to places as common as PF Chang. Even the dumplings were with no real flavor, and served barely warm, had to drown them in soy sauce. Little things were also odd, like no Chinese yellow mustard ... they said because they are a Japanese restaurant; but half the dishes are Chinese! Anyway, not for me. read more

There are definitely good things about this place, but also a lot of things that make me hesitant to recommend it. But I hope the owners are reading this feedback and take actions. Let's start with good things. It's a large place good for groups and families. There are many options on the menu for meat lovers and vegetarians. Drink menu is simple - margaritas and martinis but the pours are generous and the price is right. $12 for a martini! That alone should bring in crowds. Let's continue with OK things. The food is a hit or miss. For example, the sea bass was amazing but lemon grass shrimp was over seasoned. Thai Vegetable fried rice was great but spring rolls and scallion pancakes were bland. Things that I wish could be better. Very slow service, they don't have enough people. As the result, you don't get much attention, have to wave the waiters to pour water, drinks are delivered too late or forgotten, feels like a cafeteria. The place needs to freshen up. Our family goes to Miyabi regularly. Evidently they have trouble finding waiters although they do the best with what they have. The menu is vast and the food is great, both the Sushi and the more traditional Asian cuisine. I ordered pickup today and noticed that the prices were higher than they were just last week! Surprised since the current knucklehead promised to reduce inflation. I often get the Basil Chicken though I got sushi and soft pork rolls which I haven't had yet. We did take out and brought it to a local brewery which is a nice summer way to eat outside. Our apps were fine. Some sushi rolls but the main courses were fair. One tofu curry was actually not really edible. And there was a noodle dish there we didn't love either. We will stick with the sushi from now on but this is a tried and true spot near the burns film center so they get the movie crowd. read more

DONT OPEN FOR LUNCH IF YOU DONT WANT THE BUSINESS. Plenty of restaurants do. I stopped in for lunch for the first time. It's a very pretty restaurant. There was only ONE table seated in a corner, and the hostess tried to sit us right next to them. We asked if we could sit one table over, so we could hear our own conversation and not be on top of them. Also...for social distancing reasons. So, we hadn't even taken our coats off and the hostess/waitress said, "want drinks?" Talk about being rushed. I wanted to look at the menu which I hadn't even gotten yet and see what type of special drinks they had. My friend ordered wine and I just skipped the drink entirely because I felt rushed. For food, we ordered pad Thai and the curry chicken lunch special. Both entrees came with soup and salad. Both soup and salad also came out at the exact same time and were placed in front of us. Now, we were definitely being RUSHED. ...Then, the entrées came out and were placed on the table with the other 4 bowls! We weren't allowed to finish 2 courses without the other food coming! Nothing was cleared and we weren't asked if they could remove plates. Table was very crowded. The chicken curry was very good with mixed vegetables in a creamy sauce, and the pad Thai was also done well. My friend wanted to order a second glass of wine, but our hostess/waitress was on the phone arguing with somebody. We could hear her from our table. We tried to flag her down, and eventually she saw us,came to the table still on her phone speaking abruptly! We ordered the glass of wine, and she didn't skip a beat with her conversation. Never said a word to us.It was really unbelievable!!! She brought the glass of wine and brought the check without even asking if we wanted anything else. We never felt so unwelcome. I was with a friend at a table last night. We ordered dinner and our dishes arrived an hour late! The waiters seemed to be fielding complaints about service from other patrons. Later, the waiter informed me that he spoke with the manager and as a courtesy for waiting, he removed the charge for my dinner from the bill. I gave the waiter my credit card to process payment and I waited for approx 20 min at my table. I went to the front desk to find out what was going on. The waiter reappeared, saying that the manager had a change of heart and restored my dinner charge to the bill (!!). I was irate and demanded to speak with the manager. I waited by the front desk but, not surprisingly, the manager never appeared. I left after paying for my friend's meal and not my own. My sushi order was subpar, dry and of supermarket quality. I've been coming here for years and always liked it, but my boyfriend got food poisoning on Christmas Eve and has been sick for days. He didn't eat anywhere else all day (he doesn't eat breakfast and was already feeling sick by dinnertime). So i'm really disappointed. We ate all the same things but he got pork dumplings and I believe that did it. He missed christmas entirely. We were so excited to spend christmas together and he was sick the entire time. I have eaten at Miyabi over a number of years, and the quality of the food has gone down. However the service has been solid each time and the ambiance is OK Most recently I was there with family in December. We all ordered different meals. I ordered an appetizer of a crispy duck roll, which was absolutely soggy in poor quality oil. We also ordered the Vietnamese salad, which was completely tasteless and the few ingredients were all the same color, which added to the disappointing blandness. I had the Chirashi as a main dish. The fish was flat and seemed to be arranged to appear like there was more fish than there really was. My side salad was a very nice dressing poured over a bed of iceberg lettuce with brown edges. We also had wok grilled shrimp and vegetables with clearly bottled sauce poured over Miyabi seems to be be someone's pay check and nothing more. It's a business with not much care for the food. While the food was very good, I agree with the previous writer that the service for dinner was severely lacking last night. We learned that the restaurant was down two chefs and apparently was short of servers as well. Clearly they were having a bad night. That being said, I witnessed the previous reviewer loudly screaming at the wait staff with profanity that was frankly shocking to witness while I and the other patrons were trying to make the best of our evenings. I felt badly for the waiter, who was attempting so hard to appease her. I will give the restaurant another chance( I have had wonderful meals there in the past) , and believe that last night was an aberration. I hope that I will be seated in better company with a more refined clientele next time. read more

We always enjoy the food at Milano and have been taking out fro them since they reopened for business. Since it's a neighborhood favorite I hadn't written a COVID review. We really enjoy the bento boxes, lunch or dinner. Tonight we ordered the chicken bento box that comes with miso soup, salad, 4 shy mai, 2 spring rolls, the chicken teriyaki (could use more sauce) rice and delicious veggies and a California roll which we upgraded for a dollar more. I have never had worse service in my entire life. We sat down at 7pm. My boyfriend got the soup he ordered. I ordered a salad and didn't get it. I had to remind the waiter. Then we waited about an hour for our sushi rolls. Again, the waiter brought my boyfriend's dinner but not mine. Ten minutes later mine came but it was incorrect. I was so annoyed by now I didn't even want to eat. The waiter tries to make up for the mess by bringing me a free drink. Fine. But he brings me what my boy friend was drinking, not my drink. I told him not to bring my food. We got up to leave and to complain to the manager and there were at least 3 other people waiting for the manager to complain. Horrible experience. I've been going to Miyabi about once a month for a couple of years now, but I think I've gone for the last time. I get there at 7:30 last night with two of my kids. The place is maybe a quarter full and they try and put us by the front window, which I understand. When you look in from the street, it looks more crowded that way. But, one of my kids was cold and asked if we could have one of the 5 empty booths. The host said no, they are for bigger parties. Of course, not one party of 4 or more came in the hour and a half we were there. Silly thing to do to semi-regulars. The waitstaff has gone downhill on a regular basis. They aren't friendly and they aren't attentive. Bad combo. They regularly mess up orders and no one seems to care. You can always tell a restaurant that doesn't have an owner there all the time. They don't ever say "Hi! Good to see you again." The food is fine. Nothing great. My kids got plain lo mein and some other things that were average. Most of their Chinese menu is over fried, and too salty, but I like eating locally and giving Pleasantville proprietors my business. Oishii, David Chen and Tengda are far superior in terms of food and service. Don't give your business to restaurants that don't even try anymore. read more

Miyabi is a beautiful Japanese restaurant with a nice modern atmosphere. The food deserves 5 stars but the service deserves only 2. The location is a hot spot and got very busy fast. Our waitress took our drink orders and only brought out the 3 cold drinks ordered. The remaining 8 of us did not get our green tea until after the appetizers came out when one of us asked. The restaurant has unique fusion sushi and appetizers which we all loved. The lobster tacos and sushi sandwich were both incredible and so different. It's like a mini Haiku in pleasantville. We came on a weekday and it was busy. The place is decorated like a hip lounge. My sushi was wonderful. We did sit by the sushi bar. The chefs in front of us were so awesome. They chatted with us and helped get our check in under 30 seconds. We finally found our new sushi place and it's only five minutes away!
