I have tasted better Pad Thai but it was filled with veggies which I never get in other places. I just wish the sauce was a more powerful taste. But, I think this place was fine, no complaints. And I was happy that the waitress charged me for the lunch special instead of full price! Lunch special ended at 3:00. I wasn't going to ask. Asian Harbor is my family's go-to place for good sushi close by. Between their sushi and their food, I've never tasted anything there that I didn't like. I'm always surprised that it's almost always empty when we go, because it has such great food and a beautiful atmosphere. The outside definitely DOES NOT represent the inside of the restaurant. You can also get take-out if you prefer to eat at home, but I suggest dining-in to get the full plating experience! The sushi chef puts great pride in his work and creates fun, edible art on your sushi plate. His knife-work is amazing!! I've never had bad service here and sometimes we've gotten rolls on the house just because. Granted, it is a bit pricey, so you will have to come prepared to spend a little.. But it's soo worth it! I always imagine Asian Restaurants as quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. And I always expect delicious, fresh food. Asian Harbor delivers on all counts. I've been there twice now, both times with my daughter who loves Sushi. I'm more the Tempura and seafood type. Asian Harbor is smart casual with a large menu to satisfy the both of us. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her Sushi, which was freshly prepared and served at just the right temperature. I had a Tempura Platter which had more than enough food on it. If you read my profile, you know I'm a big eater. Well, a portion of my dinner came home with me in a doggie bag. On our second visit, we went all out. We were served Miso Soup, seasoned just right; a nice cold salad with their special dressing; and I had Haramuki as an appetizer and my daughter had her usual Sushi. For my entree I had Scallop Hibachi which was off the charts. On our second visit, the restaurant was hosting a large birthday party. Our service was exceptional nonetheless. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We wanted for nothing. Our glasses were filled, our food delivered correctly and in a timely fashion. We were not in a hurry and were not rushed along. i gave this place a second chance before writing this review. Definitely overpriced for what yo get. we ordered takeout this time. My husband likes their negamaki beef rolls and miso soup. I on the other hand had tried their chicken soup, chicken and their shrimp teriyaki and both meals were bland. it's as though they take the protein sauté it cooked with few kringle don't carrot slices and steamed broccoli no flavor what so ever and then toss with a bottled watery teriyaki sauce. Even their salad is white iceberg lettuce, 1 half cucumber slice with ginger sauce. I won't eat from here, if this is what their entrees are like I won't venture for sushi here there are much better more reasonable places. read more

We had another visit to Asian Harbor, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is located in a strip mall which experienced a fire. The restaurant cleaned up very nicely and quickly. I love this place. The wait staff treats you as if they've known you all their lives. My daughter is a big fan of the sushi menu, while I'm partial to the tempura. You start out with an ice cold salad with a delicious house dressing, and then a bowl of Miso soup. The main course is served in a timely fashion, but they don't rush you along. My daughter and I treat this as a "Daddy-Daughter" event because it feels like home. I can highly recommend any and everything on the menu. Try the Thai Butterfly Shrimp, the Steak Hibachi, and if you don't mind spending a little extra dough, I highly recommend the Scallop Hibachi. They also do a great job with the classic Pad Thai. On my last visit I tried the Beef Negamaki, which was off the charts good. While the food is exemplary, my favorite part of my visit is the friendly, efficient and courteous wait staff. They get the orders right, they serve the food with a smile. They're attentive, offering beverage refills, checking to see if you're satisfied with your meal. While this restaurant is conveniently close to home for that quick take-out sushi order, I have mixed reviews. The sushi is fresh, but sometimes the rice is not as fresh as I would like. The decor is up to date and pleasant. I have had good experiences with the staff being friendly for the most part, but on some occasions I do wait for my waitress and have had issue communicating with them. The experience that makes my rating just A-Ok is when I ordered Mochi and it was very freezer burned. I do still occasionally order take-out on my way home. Just picked up a lunch special from them today. So happy we have a new sushi place in Howell we definitely needed one! Inside the decor is beautiful. The sushi was really good and the miso soup was spot on! The spicy tuna roll had big chunks of tuna in it, rather than the mush some places usually fill it with. Overall 4 stars! I really want to give this place more stars but their portions are entirely too small. I ordered three rolls and I was still starving afterwards. In my opinion, sushi places are judged based on the quality of the ingredients and the size of their rolls. The service is always the same wherever you go unless you go to shogun or one of the larger asian fusion restaurants where it depends on the server. Love this place for sushi. I am so excited it opened up near my work so I can stop in on my way home and grab dinner to go. It's pretty cool how you can order online, I'll have to try that. I never got to sit down and enjoy the restaurant but every time I have called in and ordered the staff has been very friendly. Great place! We stopped in for lunch. But only after driving in circles trying to find the place because not one, but two of my gps apps couldn't find it. It's not in the plaza that they have listed on here. It's a little further up Rt. 9, in the same plaza as the Boston Market. We had sushi which was delicious! Very fresh. The seaweed paper is a little thick, therefore chewy. But you can taste the freshness of all the ingredients. Ordered take out from here this evening. My wife had the Chicken Teriyaki and I had an Asian Harbor Roll & a Samba Roll (which I don't see on the new menu, I had a Grand Opening Menu). My wife said the teriyaki was ok but there was too much of a flour, or something else, coating and was kind of plain. Her miso soup was very good, I ate it since she doesn't like it. My rolls were both really good. Lots of fish in both rolls and the Chef's Special sauce, I think it was a mix of the spicy mayo and eel sauce, was good. The fish was fresh and very tasty. My wife and kids used to really enjoy food at Asian Harbor. We used to go here all the time with my kids as they are pretty close to the Kumon Math & Reading center in Howell, NJ (which is actually the worst place on earth that you can send your kids to be tutored at). When Asian Harbor first opened, we were able to snag seats at the bar without calling beforehand. However, when we came in December (without a reservation), we were told the wait would be 1 hour. The space isn't huge, so there is a small bar when you walk in and about 12 additional tables. It looks like the restaurant already has a following so make sure you plan ahead! I'd have to say out of all of the sushi restaurants we've been to on the Jersey shore, Asian Harbor has been our favorite by far. If you're looking for a good Japanese meal, I recommend coming here. The flavors were simple but not overwhelming, and each dish was "just enough" without overindulging. We basically liked everything we ordered. read more
