Reviews here seem pretty split, so here's a balanced perspective. My family has been coming to Asian Imperial for about four years. Before moving to Lunenburg we lived in Groton where we had an excellent Chinese restaurant 2 towns over. so when we moved here we tried basically every Chinese place in Fitchburg, Leominster, and Lunenburg looking for something comparable. Out of all of them, Asian Imperial is the best option locally, but it's definitely not the best Chinese food overall. The place has two sides to it: the bar and the restaurant. The bar is excellent. Large U-shaped granite bar, good high-top seating, friendly bartenders, and strong drinks. Honestly 9 out of 10 times we come here it's for the bar, not a full dinner. Crab rangoons and lighter bar food are solid. The bar experience is easily 10/10. The main food menu is more average. It's definitely better than the typical shopping-plaza Chinese takeout nearby (over-fried chicken, dark greasy fried rice, etc.), but the food itself is generally pretty bland and not very memorable. It's decent, sometimes good, sometimes just okay. For context, my family eats Chinese food almost every weekend and we've tried a huge number of places across Eastern MA and Southern NH. I also try to judge restaurants by the whole experience (atmosphere, staff, drinks, cleanliness) not just one dish. Clean restaurant, good staff, great bar, and decent food. Around this area, that actually stands out. If you want excellent Chinese food and are willing to drive, go to Lilac Blossom in Nashua, NH (11/10). But locally, Asian Imperial is the best option we've found. read more

Eh. I found it to be extremely underwhelming. I ordered shrimp and broccoli. The brown sauce was lacking in flavor and it was very bland...almost flavorless. The portion itself had a generous portion of shrimp. I wouldn't order again. read more

The food wasn't too bad service sucked! A bunch of teenage kids who seemed overwhelmed especially the girl at the front desk. I guess they all chip in and do it all clear tables, seat, people, etc., etc. when I walked in every single booth was either occupied or was not cleared yet from the people prior and it wasn't really busy. There were like seven or eight booths that needed to be cleaned. It was sort of organized chaos, but they eventually got the job done. a waitress walked by and asked if she could help, and I was like, yeah we're just waiting for one of these boots to get cleared up and she I don't wanna say reluctantly ran over there and cleared it up, but she did it and we were able to sit down. The girl that was supposed to seat us was probably her job more than the waitresses to bus the tables afterwards, but I told her I'd wait for a booth to be cleared and she seemed unaffected and just let us sit there while she went about her business, that's why I said the service sucked but I don't have any complaints about the food. It was all pretty good, the egg foo yung was good. you need to ask them for some more gravy, but it was good. read more

Excellent food and service. Returned after several years and were most pleased. Enjoyed Mango Chicken and Sauteed Chicken with Mixed Veggies, the later prepared as requested with low salt and sauce on the side. Our server, Bella R., was most competent, helpful and pleasant. I am tell you what! Second Job ever had was working in a Chinese Rest. I ate the food a lot. It took decades for this place to arrive, and it is so excellent, the best place I have found in New England, it is always dependable on order taking to the food to delivery, has never messed up an order and the food is the BEST! I've been a few times to Asian imperial and as someone that is not a huge fan of Asian food I thought it was great. Clean restaurant , good service , and yummy food . I tried to vegetable fried rice and sweet potato sushi , and broccoli in garlic sauce and it was great , didn't make me feel gross afterwards . I haven't been to this restaurant in a number of years. But everything was absolutely amazing. The server was tremendous as well as the food. Excellent sushi. I ordered takeout on a Friday night for the first time. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with white rice. I got 4 cold chicken tenders with a big bowl of thick pink substance. This is not sweet and sour chicken from any Asian restaraunt I have ever went to. When I called and told them my meal was not what I wanted she told me that she would not replace it. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me there was no manager on duty. On a Friday night. RIGHT.... Never again. read more

The last few times i have been here the fish isn't very fresh and it is chewy, not choice cuts of fish as sushi should be. I hope they will take more care in the preparation of their sushi because in years prior it was great. I am happy overall with their warm food- and service is good. read more

We ordered multiple dishes from this restaurant, and every single one was a disappointment. The beef and vegetables was so bad they almost made me sick--the meat tasted rotten. The chicken fingers were mushy with no flavor at all. Even the plain brown rice smelled and tasted like chemicals. The beef in the lo mein had the same rotten taste. We threw everything in the trash. Asian Imperial used to be very good. It's gone seriously downhill. They used to make fried rice fresh, now it's made in the morning and is dried out and stale. Best place for sushi in this area! They also have very good Chinese food too. This is my favorite restaurant and satisfies my cravings every time. For sushi, I love the shrimp tempera maki - called crazy maki. I also love the eel, avocado, cream cheese cucumber roll- fashion maki. My go to sashimi is the salmon on a bed of rice. The fish is super fresh. My go to dishes for dinner are the beef chowfoon flat fat rice noodles. My husband loves the beef lomein. My dad and basically everyone loves the house fried rice with the white rice, the lighter version. The appetizer plate is good if you are BU fry and have kids and or a big group with you. Let's start with the food. Overall, pretty dang good. Salt & Pepper Wings and S&P Shrimp are not to be missed. The Crab Rangoons lack crab. The white rice is great, the fried rice is a little heavy. Let me first start off by saying there is an amazing amount of day drinkers there when we got there at 2:30 PM on a Saturday. I was actually surprised that almost every single table was filled, and almost every single patron had a drink. But, I digress. The food? Better than average American Chinese food. The place was clean, they were busy as all get out with sushi running back-and-forth, and our waitress? Amazing. She was pretty funny and held her around. She was fast to get the food out. I'll be it it didn't come out all at once, and just a great waitress. We got way too much food. Chicken fingers A Poopoo platter and some other tidbits. We had ordered fried rice which never came, and wasn't on the bill, which quite honestly was OK because we couldn't have fit any more food into our bellies. I'm not big on Asian food, but a buddy of mine convinced me to give this place a go, and I'm glad I did. We shared a formidable spread of chicken fingers, beef teriyaki, crab rangoons, boneless ribs, spicy green beans, chicken fried rice and scallion pancakes. Got take out of some sushi and Chinese from Asian imperial in Lunenberg. Heard of this place and drove by it last few years ago hike living in Townsend, but this is the first time eating their food. ... Delicious! Short answer go or order take out. I can't imagine the take out being better than in the restaurant. Amazingly fresh yummy spicy tuna and pallet cleansing yet exquisite avocado sushi with fresh ginger and yummy wasabi. How many places can you get the yummy staples of Chinese American food with decadent Japanese sushi?? Wonderful mix. Wonderful Peking dumplings with the right flavor and texture. Yummy ginger soy sauce for the dumping with the right amount flavor and spicy beyond just soy sauce. Also amazing general gaus beef(yes beef!!) that is soft, flavorful, and a little decadence with just enough crispity crunchity. Sometimes you grow up eating food from a local restaurant that becomes a staple in your family house hold for the rare take out nightS then later in life you can't find it as food. The general gaus beef from Asian imperial has a little more crunch and lot more yummy flavor and more complex yummy texture than my local panda wok. And better yet, Asian imperial still has my favorite of flavor south east Asia food, Peking Duck. The yummy hoisin sauce and duck texture with fresh green onion and soft, even tasty ... oh how I missed spicy tuna and Peking duck!! Wonderful tease and satisfaction deliver to all my senses, but most of all my taste buds and sinuses. Stopped in with the boys today. They tried the sushi, I had the wings and beef teriyaki both were tasty and delicious. The boys said their sushi was the only they ever had. Our waitresses was fast, accommodating and a huge hockey fan!! She also replaced my sons drink without us asking, big points. The food was straight up just not good. I got the salt & pepper chicken with a spice level of 3 and I swear a newborn could've eaten it without breaking a sweat. It was drenched in a fluorescent orange oil, and along with the chicken came three pieces of raw broccoli and a maraschino cherry (why???!) My dad got the Hunan style beef which was also terrible. Seems like you guys DELETED my review so I guess I have to post it AGAIN! So disappointed that you guys are DELETING reviews to keep the four stars. The food is sub par at best. The pad thai is super fishy, with too much fish sauce making it disgusting. The general tao's chicken is always soggy. The lo mein is always undercooked. The service is always slow, and the server Gabby always seems to have an attitude when we are sat with her. We have given up going in at this point and have decided to get take out, but usually its soggy as well. Hard for local's to go in there and not see someone that's from the Lunenburg high school. Making it hard for some residents to wanna frequent that place, especially with some of those alumi or students having bullied many children in the area. Have eaten here before, but this rating reflected on the take out order for lunch. Fried rice was really dark and actually BURNT, smelt it and tasted it, threw it out. The general gao chicken had not heat, no broccoli, nor mushrooms and actually may have been confused with sweet n sour chicken, not a great experience for a restaurant that keeps going up $1 per item in costs. I have been eating here for at least 5 years, and I have always been able to recommend it as an excellent place for hot food and sushi, until now. At my recent visit, I ordered sushi rolls, as usual. Most of them were really good, as they have been every other time I've been here. However, two consecutive bites out of one of the rolls had fish bones in them. Unlike cooked fish, sushi should never have bones. Naturally, I wanted to let the manager know right away so they could correct this quality issue. The fish bones in my sushi is not why I'm giving a negative review. What happened next is why they are getting one star. The first attempt to get the manager resulted in the server coming back saying "they think it's just tempura and they aren't going to do anything". What?! So here I am now, picking through my partially chewed spat-out pieces of sushi in my napkin, to find the bones as proof. I eventually found one, and another server promptly came over with a napkin and took it back to the kitchen. Finally the manager came out and proceeded to explain to me...get this...that fish have bones and they must have missed a few. Thank you, Captain Obvious. Finally he instructed the server to take that one roll off my bill. I understand restaurants are struggling with finding good help, and I would be forgiving of the mistake in the food preparation, if it weren't for the blatant disregard of the issue by the manager. I was always told from working in restaurants and other customer-service jobs that the correct answer is "I'm so sorry ma'am, I will fix it right away". Well it was 10 minutes before we ordered our drinks amd thats when i waved down the bartender or that nay have never happened. Had to wave him down again to order food. Basically the service sucked.....and im not overly critical. Got a couole rolls of sushi and a veggie lo mein. The lo mein was really good. The sushi is alright. Its weird that almost every specialty roll has cream cheese in it. So many rolls with mango or banana. Not 1 specialty roll with eel.....weird. Oh, got the uni with quail egg. Just to try that out for shits and giggles and i wouldnt recommend that. I dont put that on the place, just wasnt for me.
