Tough call between a 3- or 4- star review, because China City isn't going to match up with the better full-service Chinese restaurants, but it's among the better ones in its class. Small strip mall joint with over-the-counter ordering and a handful of tables. Many different lunch and all-day combination plate sections to choose from. Tried the following on two visits. Chicken Fingers (on a combo): Light, crisp batter. Typically low meat-to-batter ratio, but decent flavor. Average or possibly a bit below. Beef Teriyaki (on a combo): Nice tender texture with good moistness. Not much char or marinade flavor. Average. Boneless Ribs (on a combo): Good sized pile, thin strips, welcome char, generous glaze, good flavor, though some pieces dry. A little above average. Pork Fried Rice (on a combo): Hefty serving, good pork inclusions. Less of an old school Chinese joint flavor and more of a Rice-A-Roni feel, but good rice. So a little above average unless you're looking for a trip down memory lane. Chicken Wings (add-on to a combo): An extra $3.99 gets you two whole wings (equivalent to four pieces), a good deal. Breaded, but not the dreaded kind of hard shell breaded; these were light, flaky, crisp, and delicious, more along the lines of southern fried chicken. Pleasant flavor, though not five spice. Good juiciness to match the crunch. Well above average to near-elite. Sweet and Sour Chicken (on a combo): Similar construction as the fingers on a different combo, but much larger of piece and much higher of meat-to-batter ratio. Much more enjoyable. Fire engine red sauce on the side brought no fruit but a bit more tartness than most renditions of this sauce type. Overall, about average, but higher than average for an over-the-counter joint like this. Egg Roll (on a combo): Solid effort, with crisp shell and a cabbage interior that wasn't lacking flavor. Good crispness, good moistness. Above average. Chicken Wings (full order): Same impressive size, crispness, and juiciness as in the combo, with possibly more flavor. If you like a crunchy wing and don't mind the southern fried chicken batter, these are really good ones, even by sit-down joint standards. Well above average to near-elite. Pleasant experiences. Had our first trip to China City! The food was so fresh and served hot. We had the best crab rangoons and egg rolls. I had shrimp with broccoli and my husband had General Tao chicken. The portions were large and we each took home some for later. The food here is amazing definitely stands out compared to other places we've tried. We drive all the way from Southborough to Leominster just to eat here! Phenomenal food. Everything I got was delicious and they even gave us free spring rolls which were also delicious! Great customer service as well. 10/10 would recommend!!! will never order from this place again. spent over 100 with tip all to get shrimp fried rice with rotten shrimp, vegetable lo mein with rotten cabbage and broccoli in it, beef teriyaki was turned when they made it, tasted really off. spring rolls that were extra crispy on the outside but the filling was mush (obviously frozen ones), chicken fingers had a tough bite when you bit into them, so definately old chicken. oh the egg drop soup we got was decent and the general tso chicken was so-so(but edible), wife did say her dumplings were amazing and they smelled fresh. so basically $100 for egg drop soup, dumplings and general tso chicken, one expensive meal for 1. read more

China City is the best Chinese food in the area, in my opinion!! I am so happy they are open again!! There is dine in seating, but it's limited. This is the type of place where you would order delivery or picj up/take out. Still, the restaurant is very clean, staff is always friendly, and they are one of the only places open on Thanksgiving! We went last night to try this place, we had heard wonderful things about it. The crab rangoons where ok, the chicken fingers on the other hand where still pink inside and the batter was not cooked on the inside. If the weather was not so frigid we would have gone back. HORRIBLE! GROSS! BEWARE OF DELIVERY PEOPLE! We have no idea what this "meat (shrimp, chicken, pork and beef)" is or what anything else is than the obvious chicken wings. Delivered in an hour on a Monday night by a very shady small guy and old woman driving. The food was all cold except the "House Lo-Mein" which was visually disgusting and tasted the same. The delivery guy walked up to the door and I answered and he immediately started scanning the interior of my home and mentioned that I had a beautiful TV (who says that). It's large but only $500. Got takeout from there last Friday and by Sunday afternoon I was in the ER with food poisoning(I know it was from the fried rice because it was the only thing I had eaten in well over 24 hours and my kids also got sick from eating it and the hospital confirmed it). Amazing orange beef and beef teriyaki. The crab rangoons are really sweet but we like them sweet. The shrimp pad Thai and the scallion pancakes are really good and every time we order there they give us something complimentary. This time it was Chinese donuts. Yum. I hate doing bad reviews and I try to keep an open mind but this was really bad .I was dying for .Chinese one day and this was the closet place so I ordered an a6 which is chicken fingers ,beef teriyaki, and spare ribs . And it came with pork fried rice . Let's start with the rice it wasn't the Brown rice I'm used to it was ORANGE!!! The chicken fingers were greasy af beef teriyaki wasn't awful but not great either and the spareribs were to overcooked to even eat . I'll never order from here again read more

I'm very disappointed. We ordered a small order, the lady on the phone kept talking over me and interrupting me. Not a big deal. The order got here 15 minutes later, considering we ordered sweet and sour chicken, we were very shocked. Completely wrong. Nothing we ordered was in the bag. We call them back and inform them and they said that the person had taken down the order wrong. So they send the driver out again with the right stuff, sweet and sour chicken and white rice. Takes about 20 mins, and the chicken is dripping oil. The bag, take out box and everything else is soaked in oil. We couldn't even eat it. 25$ down the drain. Won't order from here again. read more

We're newcomers to this location having travelled to so many cities in the US and at quite a few times have been very unhappy with the food we've eaten, until we ordered from this restaurant. Our first experience here was a delivery. Not only did everything my family and I ate was delicious the delivery person was so friendly! Since the first time, we have ordered from China City several times more have personally marveled to the restaurant how good their food was and that it has been CONSISTENTLY that way!
