    Kimbap or gimbap
    Melissa T.

Love this place every time I drive down from San Jose. If you want to order a lot for the kimbap or gimbap, make sure to call ahead so they can prep it for you (would give them 2+ hours in advance). I'm surprised it's still $2. With everything going up, yeah.. but I do recommend this spot! It such a mom and pop shop, love to support this market and business when I visit.

My family and I enjoyed our quick stop here on the way to Monterey! There are a variety of Korean and Asian snacks here. The freshly made kimbap is delicious as well! Staff here are very nice too.

I had come awhile back when they were filming "Unexpected Business" and while it looked a bit different then, I was able to come again to get the famous $2 kimbap. Though there were none in the bin up front, when I asked the cashier, he brought me freshly made kimbap from the back that were still warm! Very simple ingredients, but super tasty! Also for $2 it's a steal! Store was well stocked with items and freshly made banchans as well.

This place is cute and has a lot of things that most stores do not have. But the customer service just sucks... There was two guys that worked there and the customers we were waiting in line about six of us and instead of helping us the employees were just gradually touching things on the shelves. They weren't to be bothered. One of the guys brought up something that looked like a sushi roll and I asked him what it was I don't know if he just didn't understand me or what the problem was. But he didn't say a word to me he just grunted. I got one of the Matcha ice cream cones which wasn't very good. Ingot this bread and thing and spit it out because it taste like dog food... Like literally I've tasted dog food

It's good, has the basics things we need to get most of our Asian cooking done. It's in a convenient location in Marina off Del Monte in between Salinas and the Monterey area. Service has never been an issue here there always kind and answer all our questions. There an older building and it shows a bit but it's a family run kinda place and it works for us. Last words...if you need it!

i've been a patron at the asian market since my childhood. i have many fond memories of coming here with my cousins, aunts, uncles, siblings, & parents for their legendary kimbap & kimchi. it's a timeless, affordable classic & i hope they stay in business forever! we ordered 30 kimbaps & they were ready within 20 minutes of us placing our order. i inhaled 2 right away & ate another on the drive home (we live 4+ hours away). i also appreciated the other asian goods for any asian cuisine needs!

My neighbor always cooks authentic Korean food and recommended this market to pick up ingredients for us to replicate the dishes she has made us in the past. This market is on the smaller side but had everything we needed to make the dish we had in mind. Service was friendly and helpful when asked questions. I was enticed by the fresh Kim-bap rolls at the front counter but resisted to save my appetite for dinner. I'll certainly be back when I'm in need of particular ingredients and next time I'll grab a Kim-bap.

I love coming here for my Asian treats! The service is always casual if you need help ask and they will help you. Sometimes I'll go in and let them know what I want to make and they help out more letting you know what to use and how to use it etc.... The ambiance is always great clean organized and easy to find stuff.. parking can be tricky but usually always find parking

Stopped by on a bike ride for a perfect mid ride pick-me-up that I can even eat while on the go! Seasoned well and flavorful rice/pickled vegetables. Definitely coming back if not just for the kimbaps. Casual and friendly service, answered my questions about if they stocked a certain type of hand cut noodle (which they do!). Note: they accept card and Apple Pay, but cash only if under $5.00

Ask the Community - Asian Market

What kind of snacks and noodle dishes do they have? And what is the general pricings for them if you know?

This is a hidden gem. Especially since you won't get asian groceries unless you go to silicon valley. Prices are fair, remember it's a mom and pop grocery store. They can't buy palates of items. Lots of snacks and noodles. Lots of Koreans in Marina

How much for a sushi roll and do you guys have Japchae?

1.50 a roll. Yes they have Japchae.

The kimbap, seaweed and rice rolls with pickled veggies were new and maybe not for me, but good to try.

For the most part, going to most any restaurant was a waste of time and money. A better choice was to let them shop and choose at Safeway and then bring it all back to the Hotel. Our choices weren't all that nutritious over all, but it did reduce the drama and later cries of "I'm Starving"! My most pleasant surprise here was that my old California land line number was still linked to the Safeway Loyalty program. Past that, the combination of an unfamiliar store, and so many choices made this Safeway trip a fairly lengthy one. And later back at the Hotel, all was well.

However - I was left a full bag full of someone else's groceries. At first I left it on the porch, but eventually TRIED to contact Safeway and report it. The website makes it damn near impossible and the only contact you're given is AI. When they transfer you to a human, it's not in the US. Biiiig help. Yes, I know I'll get to keep the food, and I got *my* order, but what about the person who is missing an entire bag of multiple items? Safeway doesn't seem to care about their experience at all, or the experience of their regular customers. Yes, DoorDash delivers the groceries - but Safeway CHOOSES to use DD drivers. Be aware that if you order grocery delivery from here, there's no accountability from Safeway and no way to report it to DD, you're just SOOL. I might have to switch to Walmart delivery. Also, every.single.bag had broken/ripped/useless handles because the contents were too heavt for the bags. Everything had to be carried into the house from the bottom!
