It is a Michelin recognized (i.e., fancy) authentic Szechuanese restaurant. While I can't comment on the authenticity, the flavors are deeper and bolder than any Chinese cuisine I've ever had. My brother and I fight over which is better, the boiling fish or the dry pot. Really, everything we've had has been excellent. It's possible to go affordable here with something like a fried rice dish, but I recommend being adventurous and trying something new. Every dish is sharing size and a table of two could eat their fill with one or two dishes. They get busy during peak times but they're good at turning tables and I've never had a bad wait. I'll note that the food comes out suspiciously quick, seemingly regardless of what we order it takes around 5-10 minutes, even when we brought a larger party.

Great food and very friendly staff. We used to frequent all the local Asian restaurants in bartlett but now we almost strictly eat here. I recommend the deep fried sushi. Delicious! They have an amazing repertoire of sushi. We eat here at least once a week and their menu is so big that it never gets old. The actual restaurant itself used to be a country/home style restaurant and still sports some of their decor- particularly an entire wall dedicated to U S. Military veteran's portraits. Not exactly what you'd expect to see at an oriental restaurant, but in my opinion that just adds character. Give it a try! read more

I am an entertainer and travel extensively, both nationally and abroad, but call Memphis my home. My favorite food is sushi and from my travels I can honestly say that Asian Star is one of the worlds best when it comes to Sushi. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but what's inside will blow your mind and your taste buds. While most places charge 7.00 or more per roll for a spicy tuna roll and give you six pieces, at Asian Star you get eight pieces for under 5.00. You've tried the rest, now try the best! read more

When I moved to Memphis I was disappointed with most of the Chinese restaurants we tried. All the places we tried were either way too nice/expensive for take out (like Mulans) or just not very high quality. I was so happy to finally find this place tucked away in Bartlett!! Highly recommend. In Bartlett for a work meeting and Asian Star was recommended by a friend. I had the Titanic Roll on soy paper (shrimp tempura, crap, cream cheese and avocado). It melted in your mouth. I also had the hibachi chicken and shrimp lunch plate. Way more food than I could eat and the shrimp was perfect...hard to do when you're inland. All in all, I may read more
