My girlfriend and I discovered this little place by accident yesterday and were surprised that great Thai food was hiding down the block from our apartment, especially given how much we love Thai cuisine. We ordered veggie dishes (spring rolls, papaya salad, and green curry with tofu) and a meat dish (volcano chicken) at a variety of spice levels (mild through Thai spicy). Their papaya salad and green curry were great, though the spring rolls were mediocre. The dish that made this place special was the volcano chicken; we ordered it "Thai spicy" and it was properly spicy rather than "humoring the white guy spicy." Unlike most places that add red pepper flakes to create heat for heat's sake, they used a variety of fresh Thai chili peppers to add the additional flavors usually missing from "5 star spicy" dishes at other Miami Thai restaurants. It is unfortunate that they are a counter at a convenience store rather than a traditional restaurant, but that does not diminish the quality of their food in any way. Their major flaw is not to do with the food, but from the fact that there is no sign out front of the convenience store in which they have a counter. It is a bit silly that it is as difficult to find their establishment as it is to find Thai food as wonderful as their food is. read more

This little Thai place is AMAZING! Voted BEST Thai food in Miami! it's a cute secretive section inside the kwik stop but I LOVE IT! The people there are SUPER friendly always smiling and they even remember your name! If your like me and have a passion for Thai food and local hotspots for exotic dishes you'll definitely be impressed when you pay them a visit. I always get their famous tom kha gai soup the taste is to die for! It's garunteed to leave you wanting more! After reading other reviews on yelp I decided to give ATK a try. I ordered delivery and the timing was exact - almost to the minute. (60 minutes but it was a Saturday night so I was prepared for it.) They have a $35 food minimum order and a $3 delivery fee. Overall taste was VERY good. The spring rolls were soggy by the time they arrived but the taste was still good and the dipping sauce it came with was Delish. The beef skewers were tender and flavorful came with two sauces, one the same as spring rolls and a peanut sauce. Based on other reviews we decided to get the Volcano Chicken and Beef Pad Thai. Overall flavor was great, I will say I would have liked the entrees to be more saucy. I added the spring roll sauce to the volcano Chicken so it worked out well. The pad Thai was dry - no way around it. I ate a little but was already getting full. I had the left overs today and had to add some soy sauce to loosen it up. I want to go dine in and try out some other menu items. Otherwise they are staying on my delivery list for sure! read more

It's Sunday night & we ordered takeout online through Yelp at the Calle Ocho ATK near us. 20 mins after taking the order, Yelp called us to let us know they couldn't contact the restaurant and that they were refunding the card. (ATK doesn't list their hours for that location on Yelp... really should fix that.) After being bummed out that we couldn't get great Thai food delivered, we called the Grove ATK and they offered to deliver to us even though we were too far away. 45 minutes later, the delivery arrived and everything was hot & delicious. I was very surprised by this joint! Looked at my fellow Yelp reviewers, and took a chance. Spicy Thai Fish...delicious! Asked for medium spicy and Thai powder in the side to make it extra hot. Tasted fresh. Ask for sauce on the side so it stays crispy until you're ready to eat Husband tried Teriyaki chicken. Good, not excellent, but a nice portion size. I have ordered from this place 3 times and 2 out those 3 the order was extremely wrong. This time I was checking out the delivery fee through UberEATS and I decided $7 was absurd. Unfortunately, as I was exiting the app the order went through. I called uber eats right away and they told me that the restaurant started preparing my food after just 2 minutes of me clicking on the order. Every time we take a trip to Miami, my Mrs. And I have eaten there an honest 80% of the whole stay. We would wake up late from a long night out before, skip breakfast and drive straight to Asian Thai Kitchen and order the same thing we have over and over again. Their food is a total burst of flavor to rival gourmet cuisine, and their customer service is very on point. We have ordered enough times to actually have one wrong order or misunderstanding go through, and even then, the lady who retook our order was curtious and understanding enough to recook the dishes due to the particular order being allergy-sensitive. UPDATE: They were very kind to follow up with me after this post and try to remedy their service. I have since updated to three stars for effort and will try them again in the future. This was the second time we ordered from ATK. The first time they forgot to pack the sodas we ordered so they came back with them 15' later (even though we live less than 10 blocks away). No discount or mea culpa for our trouble. We decided to give them a second chance & ordered through Yelp. Wish we hadn't. Took them an hour and thirty minutes to deliver our food. Things happen but they did not call to give advanced notice nor did they answer the phone when we called twice to check status. Food was late and at room temperature. The salad was missing ginger dressing and chicken teriyaki was so smelly that not even our dogs were tempted to try it. I tried to refuse the tip for the lack of service but Yelp said they could not refund as all delivery is prepaid. Restaurant still doesn't answer. I will be contacting Amex tomorrow. My advice: don't order if you're in a hurry or have guests and don't pre-pay tip. Not the most inspiring Thai, but if you're willing to wait and don't want to leave your house, it's an option for Grovites. Shrimp shumai was good as was the cold pad Thai. Food: Some important problems with the Pad Thai, and so probably with the other menu items. There were no fresh vegetables, only frozen carrots & broccoli, which is not tasty. No fresh bean sprouts at all. Could not discern fresh onions. There was little/no lime juice, which means the dish is missing the vital zing of acid. Little egg, little peanut, little cilantro. So overall it succumbs to what many low-rent Thai places succumb to: a plate of overwrought cheap noodles in soy sauce, not much else. Chicken Pad Thai was ordered moderately spicy and was perfect - just enough spice to add the right amount of flavor. Lomo Salteado portion was great and exceeded the expectations. Delivery person was very friendly and she was able to find us despite the somewhat complicated way you have to get to our home. This was a oxymoron experience in eating. Five stars for outstanding and very authentic Thai food. This was a similar experience I had while traveling in Thailand and eating from food carts along the boulevard's in Bangkok. This Thai kitchen is located in a convenience store. That's nuts. It is strictly take out and is known mostly to the locals. That is how I was introduced to its existence. Lines are expected, and the dishes are made from scratch, so if you don't call ahead of time, be ready for a 15 minute wait. And that wait is well worth it. The staff is fun and cheerful. It was a strange yet up beat experience, standing near the magazine rack while waiting for my gourmet, authentic Thai five star food. I was bicycle riding that evening, so it took my coconut veggie soup to the bay and enjoyed it on a dock watching the ships go by. Seriously perfect. read more

WE AGREE...THIS PLACE A HIDDEN GEM! If you love Chinese, Thai, and Japanese cuisine (with a Peruvian option thrown in), then this is a gem to discover. You'll just have to overcome the fact that you can't eat it there. They deliver or you can pick it up. Either way, it's well worth it. I have tracked down great crispy duck in many cities at home and abroad and ATK's is right up there. Plus....you can also have it curried or opt for the Thai Basil or even a Thai Ginger version. The Peruvian ceviches are surprisingly authentic. All the standard favorites can also be found there, yet there are plenty of more adventurous options. Kimchi fried rice anyone? How about cheesecake tempura or home made coconut and mango sticky rice for dessert? One can certainly find and pay three times as much for fine ambiance and presentation; but the food will NOT be better. I ordered the Panang curry, it was delicious! Medium spice wasn't quite hot enough for me but I'm happy to add a little more then have it too hot. I like how you can wait there and watch everything being made. I learned a bunch about how to make this at home. It was like a cooking lesson too! This was my first time and very impressed with the food. The location is unlikely but for me it's about the food. I'm looking forward to trying their sushi next time, very soon I hope.
