Went for lunch. The food was good and the service was excellent but way too fast. We were in and out of the restaurant in less than 30 min. I'm sure this is appropriate (re: moving customers in and out for the lunch rush) but it was still a little fast for lunch. read more

Asian Wind is a very good place for Asian cuisine. In its 22 years of existence at the Palomar Shopping Center, it has been a consistent performer for Asian cuisine. Asian Wind provides good food at a good value. Try the standards like Kung Pao Chicken, General Tso's Chicken or Orange Chicken. The Sesame Chicken is special. Best Chinese we've had in 25 yrs! It's not everyday you can order a vegetable egg roll and it not be a spring roll! Oh glory day! Vegetable soup is a solid 5. Chop Suey phenomenal. We've only lived here 6 months and we've been there 20-25 times!! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 because there pad Thai and there lettuce raps lacked flavor. Service is usually pretty good and my kids love the bang bang shrimp and fried rice. read more

Best vegetarian food ever! I'm not even a vegetarian anymore but I always order from the vegetarian menu anyway. I would eat here every day if I was rich and it was closer to my house. I know tons of people who don't live in Lexington anymore who still come to town to eat here. read more

We just left this horrible serviced restaurant. Apon walking in, they stick us in the back corner literally by ourselves. Ordered our drinks and then proceeded to wait 30 minutes before our orders were even taken. It took an old couple seated next to us leaving before they decided to service us. We literally had no clue who our server was except for her being a woman. Food took equally 20 minutes to come out and was cool to touch and we had not gotten our rice. The icing on the cake was the fact other patrons seated around us after got first class service. No apologies for forgetting us or anything. It wouldn't have been so bad if we just were recognized. I'll never come back. Place wasn't even busy. No reasons. read more

In Jan. 2015 a friend and I ate at Asian Wind. I had eaten there previously. My friend was impressed with the restaurant until she saw a roach on a water glass. I could not believe this (we had already eaten, but had tea to drink). I asked the cashier to look at the glass. She took it to the kitchen and then came out with the waitress. They looked above our heads and said....we have to get the exterminator in again. Apparently, the roach "fell" from an area near the ceiling. My friend thought for sure I would receive a refund as I had already paid. This did not happen. I will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

Honestly, the best Chinese I've ever had! Too bad it's a two hour drive from me. Located in a strip mall, it's nothing particularly stellar on the outside. Don't be fooled, the inside is well appointed and comfortable. But even more so, the foooood! And entree is definitely of shareable portions, just order extra rice. I'd recommend family style so you can sample different things. The General Tso's chicken, seriously the perfect level of sweet and spice...and everything nice! Loved it. We wanted a beef dish as well, so I asked our server for a recommendation. We ended up with beef and green beans. The green beans were the perfect level of al dente and there was a healthy amount of sauce, which is perfect for mixing in with the rice. The servers appear to be all family and they are very attentive without being annoying. You can tell this is a local favorite, they new several diners who came in. It was like the neighborhood bar, except it was Chinese food. When I return to Lex, I know this will be on my list! read more

Considering the sad state of Lexington restaurants, this local Chinese place in Palomar Center is better than most. No, you will not find a lot of rare dishes, although they do have a ton of "fake meat" vegetarian dishes that we avoid. Still, there is a large variety of mild or spicy standards that will satisfy your Chinese food cravings and leave you plenty for lunch the next day. Recently we had a large family dinner there with plenty for all eight of us (and applesauce for the baby in a high chair). We started with OK potstickers and appalling Crab Rangoons for the majority of the family that thinks that black pepper is a HOT spice. My husband and I particularly liked the Duck and Green Beans, but the Sesame Chicken was good. My husband hated the huge pieces of unbattered chicken in the General Tsao's Chicken, but I liked them. The Teriyaki chicken was forgettable, but my brother-in-law snapped up the Golden Scallops. The Orange Beef was overcooked, but had a tasty sauce and there was plenty of both steamed and fried rice. This is definitely a good restaurant for a large group as the service was personable and snappy. I'll look forward to going back again next year. read more

I got take out and was very pleased. If you are used to cheap takeout or buffet food, it might be "tasteless" because it doesn't appear to be loaded up with MSG. In terms of service, we had the worst dining experience ever, and the food was really only about average. To be fair, it was Christmas Eve and it was very busy, but the restaurant was not prepared to handle the busy in-house and carry-out business. However, they have been around for a few years and I can't imagine they had not idea as to the amount of traffic they were going to get. We had to wait almost 30 minutes past our reservation to be seated. Then we waited another 10 minutes before anyone came by to ask about drinks. Then we had to flag down a waiter after waiting another 30 minutes just to put our order in. After that, we waited another 30 minutes before the first plates came out in 10-15 minute intervals - one or two at a time over a 30 - 45 minute period. By the time the last person was served, the rest of us had finished our meals. Two of us had duck that appears to have been deep-fried and were given only a fork and spoon to eat a half breast, and thigh that was still on the bone. The vegetables were almost raw and cold. From our original reservation time to the time we left, we had spent almost 3 hours hours in the place. After checking with friends who were also eating there, they all had the same experience. I was really looking forward to their hot and sour soup because I had read multiple reviews raving about how delicious it was. Epic fail...I mean I was starving and couldn't get myself to eat it. It wasn't that it lacked in flavor, it was just a horrible flavor all together. So maybe I just caught a bad batch? I also ordered some chicken fried rice, very little chicken and no flavor at all. Stopped in for a Valentine's Day lunch with my wife. We were new to the area and missing a great Chinese place to dine. A friend recommended this establishment and we are so very glad that they did!!! This restaurant has the best Chinese food we have found in KY so far! The Roasted Duck was AMAZING!!! The Crab Rangoons were stuffed with goodness and not skimpy like some places make them. If your in the Lexington area.....GO!!! Definitely worth getting off the interstate and traveling across town for this food! read more
