I'm sure they are excellent mechanics. But they are horrible with people. Whether over the phone or in person. Besides that, they are absolutely gouging prices. I simply wanted to purchase a mower deck belt. I knew exactly what size I needed. I called to see if they had it in stock and the guy fought tooth and nail to get me to give him make/model/serial number of the machine it was going on. Just being an absolute jerk about it. So I decided to just go in and buy it. Same dog and pony show. I said, please, just let me pay for the belt (as I needed it ASAP). He let me buy it and then stormed off into the back with a profanity laced, "It's not my___ fault if it ___ doesn't ____ work. NO RETURNS." It worked. It cost 4 times as much as the exact same brand and size on the internet. I will NEVER step foot in that store again. Ask the locals. Ask the guys next door at ACE hardware. You'll hear the same things I'm saying. read more

Hans fixed my Echo Lawn Blower Vac from 130 miles away! My ELBV wouldn't start. I cleaned the air filter and changed the gas, but nothing. I called. Was referred to come here from a local contractor for my Snowblower parts. I driver from Carson because when I called the gentleman on the phone was extremely helpful and knowledgeable with my Honda snowblower. His name was Hans I believe. He had every part I needed to get my snowblower working again. He did give me pointers on how to adjust the shoot and also the blade position. Went home and installed the parts and adjusted as he instructed me to do. Now it's as good as new. Definitely recommend these guys. read more

After trying to get a Husqvarna chainsaw repaired at 3 other area shops I called Hans. The other shops refused to install a factory warranty supplied part Hans had no trouble installing and getting saw into perfect working order I highly recommend him.Be careful who you do business with I reviewed to false diagnostics from other shop that were verified by Husquvana customer service. They wanted to charge 80% of sa ws original cost.Hans price was extremely fair and he did not try to overcharge at all.A Good Man who deserves business. read more

Hans is absolutely great to deal with. Took my riding mower in with an electrical problem. Never mind it hadn't been serviced in more years than I care to admit. Was directed here twice by Husqvarna for a simple warranty issue, not so hard to see why more and more people conduct their business online... I was originally directed here by Husqvarna after a chain stamped with Husqv failed on a new saw, when originally contacting ASJ man was extremely short and directed me back to Husqvarna. After recontacting Husqvarna they once again redirected me to ASJ small engines and said that being a licensed Husqvarna dealer and mechanics that they could make an assessment and replace 1-1 the damaged chain. The same man with whom I spoke with on the phone this time in person repeated that he would have nothing to do with replacement. When told that I spent 30 min on the phone I was interrupted and asked why I should expect him to do the same and spend the time getting paid for a replacement chain with Husqvarna. A valid question I guess I certainly won't make the mistake of expecting anything out of the ordinary from these folks... read more

BAD BUSINESS FOR WOMEN is the upshot. Rated two stars because the repair service is probably ok. It's the customer service that is awful. My old leaf blower had some problem. Took it in to see if these could be fixed. Because the blower was old and an uncommon brand in the area, I knew I was probably out of luck - which I was. The older man I talked to said he didn't work on that brand. I wasn't upset at all since I sort of expected that. I asked what new leaf blower he would recommend since he sells them. We went over to the shelves and he indicated one. I looked at it but had some questions. He was by that time busy looking at his cell phone to see if anyone had called or messaged him. There was no one else in the store and he didn't excuse himself for an urgent call. He simply just couldn't tear himself away from the phone to answer my questions or be attentive at all. I'm female and he probably wasn't used to seeing women as buyers or as customers that deserved a little attention especially if they were going to spend about $200. I laughed at his internet and store signs that talked about shopping locally. He had what I want but I'll go anywhere else but there to buy. How about taking a course in business etiquette that says if you want people to shop locally, you better let them know they are more important than you cell phone. This store and owner need to know that you can't tell who is going to buy something any more. Don't blow women off. read more

They take your equipment in for a diagnosis, repair it without notifying you, and then want a ridiculous amount for repairs that you did not approve, and threaten to call the sheriff and threaten you with bodily harm if you don't pay what they want. I came in today to get a belt for my snowblower, I thought I knew what I needed and if Hans had just sold me what I came in asking for I would have been a sorry fellow when I got home to discover that I was wrong in what I needed. Have taken my chainsaw and my Rototiller there for service. Both times the owner was rude about where I purchased those items. I was there for repair work and due to the industry that I am in, buying things at Home Depot and Lowe's makes more sense for me. The repair on my Rototiller was subpar , the pull start never properly wound back after taking it to him. I now avoid going here and unfortunately take a longer drive to get my small gas engines repaired. read more

I have purchased several pieces of equipment from Hans. Hans and his staff are terrific to work with. I have found his prices are competitive with the big box stores but his service and knowledge of the equipment is far superior. In addition to buying equipment I have also used his service department. Again reasonable and thorough. I highly recommend ASJ. read more

Just moved to the area and found ASJ Small Engine Service to be a FANTASTIC find. The owner was extremely helpful, honest and reputable. I have found in my many years of experience you get what you pay for, and having a brick and mortar store is so much better than on-line or big box stores that usually cannot help you if you develop a problem. read more
