Jim has been awesome! He showed up early, does great work, and is reasonably priced. He helped finish the bathroom in the in-law (anticipating a visit from grandma;)), including installing grab bars, an exhaust fan, to shelves, and other stuff. He's replaced doors for me, and will even lay down a coat of paint if you ask. There's more work to be done, so we'll be using Jim for small and big jobs. This guy is the superman of home improvement.. Anything I've thrown at him, things that have left me completely stumped and at a loss for hope - he's come in to save the day.. From electrical to plumbing to cabinet work.. He's taken such good care of me and I have always been impressed by the speed and precision of his work. I have been getting ongoing help from Jim for over 3 years now and he will always show up on time, be courteous, shows up with a very pleasant "can-do" attitude, and will even give you great advice on how to go about your home improvement or maintenance projects (he's even given me advice on how to get things done cheaper than calling him if I could). I can't say enough about Jim. He's come out to help me out three times now; once a while back at a rental where the landlord refused to help with a roof leak when his guy couldn't figure it out (Jim diagnosed the problem), and twice now at my new home to help with ceiling fans, appliance install, and electrical issues. Not only does he do great work, quickly, but he's also a genuinely good guy. An example of the latter point: Jim and I had agreed on a price ahead of time for some work we had discussed on the previous trip. He came out (on-time), did his thing, and then when it came time to settle up, he refused to take all of the money we'd agreed upon because he felt the time he spent didn't warrant the original price, even though all the work we'd discussed was completed. Jim provided excellent, efficient and friendly service! He showed up exactly when he said he would and completed the task in the time frame he estimated. His price was reasonable and fair. He even delightfully interacted with my pup and daughter, which I always worry can be distracting or annoying to people working in our home. We hired Jim to do a hood vent replacement, knock out some cabinets in our kitchen, created cabinet space and accessibility to a dead space cabinet with very limited access! In discussing a corner style cabinet change( a little if the cabinet can be seen in photo before removing the cabinets) Jim was able to rebuild it to be up against the wall. Took some old cabinets and installed in garage for extra storage space. I wanted to retain cabinet space where I could and he's amazing! We LOVE our new kitchen Thanks to Jim!!! I wrote 1 review already, I don't know how but he must have had it taken down by YELP. Anyway, this time I'll make is short and not so sweet. Jim seems to be a nice guy, but, as far as doing a good or even pretty good job at MY house it didn't happen. He was supposed to install a walk in bathtub for my wife. Install meaning move it to the correct position, attach the plumbing and electrical. He asked me to get a 20 amp breaker at Home Depot. That night I went and purchased 1 20 amp breaker. The next morning I woke up and looked at the instructions that came with the walk in tub and the instructions clearly state that 2 -15 amp breakers are needed; 1 for the water pump on the tub itself and 1 for the electrical. I had to point that out to him as he didnt already know.. additionally, there is a vent pipe in the wall that vents bath room smells out through the roof to outside. When some one uses the bath room upstairs the vent pipe bangs really loud. When the wall was opened I notice that the vent pipe wasn't secure to the wall frame. I asked Jim to strap it down with strapping. He didn't do it, he used foam, and I didn't want foam in that area, I wanted R-19 insulation, like the other walls. There were MANY other issues, to many to mention. I looked up Jim's license on line and as of May of this year his Contractors License expired. He's not supposed to be operating a handyman business without a contractor's license. Since he doesn't have a current contractors license he cannot work as a contractor/handyman. Additionally he lied on his license about worker comp. He stated he didn't have any employees. Well, when he was doing my job he had the same guy coming with him. Seems like an employee to me. I WILL NEVER HAVE JIM DO ANY WORK FOR ME. read more

Jim's the man! Exactly who I needed. Ceiling had a crack line & started bubbling up. So I figured there was a leak, maybe from the skylight next to it. He came in, cut the hole, and we quickly discovered the copper hot water pipe was the culprit. There were corrosion marks on it running the length of the house. Luckily Jim's not just the drywall repair guy & leak investigator, he's also the plumber. Came back with new copper piping and replaced it all. Called on his colleague Alex to help patch up the drywall, all done in 2 billed hours. Over the last 20 years, I have had many different people work on my house for various reasons with mixed results. None of them were as effective as Jim. He was completely focused and ready to handle the work I needed done. We had a issue with a wall heater that wasn't working. Contacted Jim and he promptly replied and went to look at the problem. He was honest and told me it was a simple switch/breaker inside the unit. Good handyman are hard to find. I've dealt with a bunch of contractors who disappointed with poorworkmanship, always showing up late, never finishing anything on time, and even abandoning projects. Jim and his assistant showed up early, worked quickly, completed tasks which I thought would be much more involved, and did it all well. I definitely hope to use him again the next time. The only negative thing I would have to say after reading these reviews is I did look him up on CSLB and it does says his contractor's license expired in May. Jim and his helper showed up Sunday morning of the super bowl game and spent the morning fixing our step in shower that had loosen and disconnected the drain causing a major problem under the house. The foundation was starting to crack from all the water under the house and it was a muddy mess. Jim reinforce the tub as well as repair the pipeline that had come loose and it's solid as a rock. The water has dried out and the foundation has settled back into place and the cracks have closed up. We caught that problem just in time and Jim was quick to respond and the price was very good. I am actually very hesitant to write a review for Jim because he is so awesome and I fear that all these great reviews will just make him more busy and less available. But thank goodness it has not yet become an issue. :) Seriously Jim can do it all. We had him do electrical work and install ceiling lights in our bedrooms. Jim cut down a wall and re-framed it for a countertop project. He also did plumbing, installing a new faucet and re-doing the layout of some pipes. Jim even did some demo work and haul it away for us. And the cost for his work is more than fair. I had obtained quotes from other folks, for the work he did and Jim was always lower even after I tipped him. He showed up one time, had a very stand-offish smaller woman with him who did not create a sense of ease but attempted to give off an intimidating demeanor. Angry face, hardly spoke and would create and maintain uncomfortable eye contact. After the ONE time Jim actually stopped by, communication fell to barely any, he bothered to buy a part for a washer I needed fixed, so I thought he was serious but he ignored my messages for 3 days and expected to just be let right in to continue.
