He was very clean, protected the home was polite and professional, and kept us in the loop each step of the way I feel lucky to have finally found a fantastic finish Carpenter home we can trust! As he left he said "...give me a couple days and I'll send you a quote." 10 days passed and I texted Patti. She said they were "moving the office" and to give them "a few more days." It's now been 16 days since our meeting. No texts or emails with apologies, excuses, or quotes. I've been ghosted. I gave Phillip two chances to find the leak and fix it in our bathroom. First time he says it's the toilet seal leaking so he replaced the seal and the damaged flooring. Not long after the flooring looked wet and damaged again. I had him back and told him to find the leak. He then just patched up the damaged drywall and flooring again. Never found the leak. I regret paying him twice! Finally called a real plumber and they found the leak in the wall.... Phillip wants to be in and out ASAP. He's not really into doing anything but the easiest jobs. Using him allowed the problem to do more damage and entire bath had to be ripped out and replaced. read more

We struck gold when we found Phillip and Patti Breiter and their business partner Taylor. Phillip and Taylor are in the field whilst Patti runs the operation at home. I can't talk about one without talking about the others as they are a team. And, what a team they are! In our efforts to replace our gas grill (we simply wore it out) we found that the space in our grill island on our covered patio had some changes needed to fit the new one (a Turbo from BBQs Galore, themselves a winning team). To comply with newish state regulations we would be required to provide venting under the grill for gas to escape in the case of a leak. Enter Patti, Phillip, and Taylor in that order. First, Patti took my call and was able to have Phillip come by that afternoon. He sized up the problem and proposed that he come back the next day to execute his solution. He brought Taylor with him on Saturday and they proposed a professional design for venting slits which they began working on immediately. We agreed to have Phillip take the door home and finish it up and paint it, then bring it back the next day which by now you have figured out was Sunday. It looks like it was custom manufactured for us. And, indeed, it really was. As they were leaving my wife asked them to look at a section of our fence which needed repairing as well as two gates which needed adjusting. Here it is a week after Phillip's first visit and the newly painted and properly vented door is in place, stones have been cut to accommodate some additional installation requirements, and two sections of fence have been repaired, and both gates adjusted. All of this was done without breaking the bank, phone calls and emails were answered immediately and fully, great imagination and ingenuity was shown by the team, and we are pleased as punch. After more than fifty years in Lafayette we have finally found the perfect answer to an aging couple's handyman needs: Breiter Handyman Service! read more

Had them come out to give me an estimate to build a fireplace. Guy was nice although like some of the previous reviews smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. He assured me I'd receive an emailed estimate in a few days. Almost two weeks later, nothing. Called and Patti told me that the email address they had was wrong and she would forward over the estimate right away. A few days later and nothing again. I called them this morning, left a voicemail, still no response. You're probably better off spending your money somewhere else. If they can't even manage to get an estimate out, I can't imagine what their work actually looks like. read more

This review is a bit overdue as Phil did some work for me around 6 months or so ago. I hired him to paint the pergola in my backyard. I'd had several other pros decline to paint it because they felt that the intricate lattice on the top would be a pain to deal with (can't blame them!). Phil came by for an estimate, told me how he would approach the work, and Patti got back to me with a price that was very reasonable. Phil did a great job taking my bright orange pergola to a beautiful dark gray. It wasn't an easy job because of all the detailing on the upper portion of the structure, but he made it look easy. I'm super happy with the end result and have gotten lots of compliments on it. read more

Had some ugly stucco patch job around a window on the house I bought, I got Phillip to come over and make it look better. Also had him replace the only toilet in the house. Great service, showed up on time, replaced the toilet with ease, triple verified it was stable, and not leaking. Also replaced my water supply line (not in quote, and no added fee). IMO that's awesome. The stucco patch also came out beyond expectation. I will not hesitate to call again when something I'm too lazy to do needs to be done. read more

I called twice and then e-mailed through their website but never got a response. As a last resort I called a third time and Patti Breiter picked up. She scheduled a time for her husband Phillip to come out and said depending on the exact nature of the problem, he might be able to fix it on the spot or he might need to come back. On the appointment day, he didn't show up. I texted and one of them replied that there was a family emergency. Fair enough, it happens to all of us. I said I was sorry to hear that and I hope everything would turn out ok. I followed up two days later, not having heard back. Phillip said he would come the next day. He did come this time (reeking of cigarette smoke by the way), but just took notes and asked me for my e-mail address, saying he would send a quote the next day. It's been 4 days and I've heard nothing. read more

STAY FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE.. Phil, owner, unlicensed did several minor repairs. First quoted at $30 hour, then $60, then by job for same work - which equaled about $150 hour. The work is shabby, harming the fence he worked on, did not give written estimate - just wrote on/his note pad. Refused to come back to finish staining the steps he built after 4 months which are separating, have holes in them from his poor nail work and unsafe edges. He was to have attached the steps to hot tub allowing for safe access, this was not done either. I bought the stain which was supposed to be covered and never came back to finish the job. Phone calls irradiclly returned, appointments missed by hours with no phone contact. Need I say more? Mostly women have reported to my on Next Door neighbor, of similar problems. read more

Phillip, the owner is such a professional. I couldn't ask for anyone better. He is a true professional. He called me a half hour before he was to arrive and showed up on time. I needed him to do some repairs on my home and before the job, he gave me a quote and provided me with a written estimate and at the end of the job, I didn't pay more than was on the estimate. All the work that was done was done to profession. After the job was completed, there was no mess left behind. Phillip cleaned up all areas. I have had bad experiences with other handyman services and it was a disaster. I would definitely call him again should I need anymore work done. Great guy! I have been using Phillip for a few years now (after running through a list of handymen - who would not show up/postpone etc). Phillip shows up ON time - which is a very big deal to me. He advises properly on only the things that need to be done. Does not oversell/overdo things. He explains things patiently. Charges very nominally. And is clean. That is all I can ask for.
