Jim has helped us several times over the past few years. The most recent was with a water heater replacement. He made time to help us in his busy schedule. He met me at the hardware store with his assistant, had everything he needed picked out, and brought the water heater to my home in his truck. The reason we went with Jim is due to his high ratings here on Yelp and recommendations on Nextdoor. Unfortunately our experience did not match the reviews and raves from neighbors. I had to have him come out 2 times. -The first time he came out to fix the caulking around our sink and granite countertop.The caulking on the sink seperated due to wetness and not removing the old caulking and the caulking on the countertop started lifting up so we had him come out another time. -The second time he came out he just layered on caulking on the sink in 2 minutes and left. Since he didn't dry the area well enough or remove the old caulking it molded. We ended up having to buy our own materials to recaulk the sink and countertop ourselves. read more

My garbage disposal leaked all over the cabinet, discovered when saw puddle on the floor. Freaked out as dishwasher full of Thanksgiving dishes & current disposal only 5 years old. Today for the first time in the 12 yrs we have lived in our home, we had Mr cool chilling our place down to 78 . Jim is great! We hired him to do some smaller dry rot repair which he did a good job on. And then while we had his attention we asked him to take a look at our tankless water heater which had never really worked properly in the year since it was installed. Jim's a nice guy but, unfortunately, I don't think I'll be asking him to fix anything again. He created an eyesore the last time. Originally, I had an A/C overflow pipe sticking out of the corner of my concrete steps to my front porch. It bothered me, so I had Jim move the pipe and patch up the cement. He did a good job of moving the pipe, but a really poor job of patching up the cement and matching the cement color. He added a dye to the cement mix that is far too dark and red-brown -- which makes it look like my steps have a rust problem and can be seen from 100 ft. away. Instead, he should have applied a light-colored cement stain or dye after the cement was set and dry. Also, the added cement is slightly angled and not completely level with the older cement. Now I'm going to have to hire someone else to fix it. I think he felt a little bad about it, so he didn't charge me for the poor cement patch job (just the pipe move). I've added an extra star for that. I don't normally like to write poor Yelp reviews. But, this time I feel it's warranted. read more

Scene and Experience: - My parents lived in there home for 32 plus years in Hercules, CA and put there home for Sale - Before the Lender could fund the loan to the Buyer the Inspector stated my parents needed to correct the Dry Rot outside the Chimney - Day was Friday and I was literally calling all the Contractors on Yelp to correct this Dry Rot ASAP (tic toc) - Jim was the ONLY contractor/handyman who squeeze me in his busy schedule aka next day - I texted images of the Dry Rot, Jim came in the next day with materials needed to fix the issue and took him literally less than a hour to fix the issue. Jim is an extremely efficient guy who can work quickly on the smallest odds and ends to bigger projects. He is a general contractor but can also do the handyman sort of things as basic as fixing a broken cabinet door or putting ventilation holes in the garage to putting up a ceiling light or installing an air conditioner unit in a matter of minutes by just running the vent through a hole he punched out through the wall. About 3 weeks ago I called Jim to set up an appointment and he said the first one he had was for the day after Thanksgiving (today). He said he would be here between 2-3 pm.
