After hearing good things about Aslin, we decided to stop in while exploring Alexandria's brewery scene, and we're glad we did. This place is much bigger than it appears from the outside. The brewery has a huge open layout with multiple levels, plenty of seating, a full kitchen, arcade games, merchandise, and lots of room to spread out. There was even a private event taking place during our visit, but the space is so large that it never affected the experience. Of course, the main reason we came was the beer. Aslin has built a strong reputation for a reason. The IPA I ordered was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for from a brewery known for hop-forward beers. We also decided to grab some food and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The pepperoni and hot honey pizza was outstanding, with a crispy crust and just the right amount of sweetness from the honey. The cheese curds were another winner and paired perfectly with the beer. The staff was friendly, service was quick, and everything felt well organized despite a steady crowd. I also appreciated the large selection of beer to-go, glassware, hats, shirts, and other brewery swag available for purchase. One thing to note: they are completely cashless, so bring a credit or debit card. Between the excellent beer, surprisingly good food, fun atmosphere, and spacious layout, Aslin ended up being one of our favorite brewery stops in Alexandria. This place is awesome for kiddos and the staff is phenomenal! Super helpful and soooo nice! But let me tell you about their food menu. Best spinach artichoke dip I have ever had. Like ever. Ask my husband, I get it on almost every menu and I will dream about this one forever. The kale salad was all the right amount of texture and flavor and the hot honey pepperoni pizza was a treat. This was our first time at this location and let me tell you it did not disappoint. We ended up sitting at the bar because there were a lot of kids and a lot of families and every employee that walked by us that was extremely attentive to our needs. From drinks to dinner it was all absolutely incredible. We even headed over to their gift shop area and snagged some really amazing T-shirts. This is an enjoyable spot to chill with friends and have some local beer and some pizza. The layout is a little odd since they have some normal tables and chairs but then also lots of long picnic style tables with backless benches. It seems to work well for large groups or kids bday parties (a few of each were there) but maybe not ideal for a long visit. Fortunately we had a comfortable table and chairs so that wasn't an issue. I can see where it could get crowded though at popular times.They encourage folks to stay and hang out for awhile and lots of people were hanging out playing board games, cards, etc. The beer is a good variety here (not Just a million IPAs) and I believe they brew everything they serve. I enjoyed everything including the interesting and unique apizza beer that had an enjoyable almost cucumber taste. They didn't have any porters or stouts on tap when I went but that's probably because it's summer and they rotate often. The pizza here isn't cheap but it's enjoyable, tasty and not too greasy. A large prosciutto and mission fig pizza served four of us and went well with our beer. Service here is different than most places but seems to work very well. Rather than an assigned server, you order on your phone and various servers bring out your food and beverages. You can close your tab or keep it open and pay via your phone when you're ready to leave. You can grab water from a tap next to the bar so you don't have to wait for someone to bring it to you. I really appreciate that Aslin puts on so many events. I've danced in the back room and caught live music up front--super fun in theory, but wow... it gets LOUD. Everything echoes and it's almost impossible to hear anyone you're with. Everyone ends up shouting just to chat. The food is hit or miss. Not gourmet, more typical bar food vibes. I do like that they're branching out with different options--ricotta, balsamic, and more than just the usual pizza, fries, and burgers. But they do have that too. I also like that they offer more than just beer. They've got slushies, a few wines, and some cocktails for non-beer drinkers like me. But overall, it was just an okay experience. It's seat-yourself (we had to ask since it wasn't clear) and you scan a QR code to place your order online. There is free wifi. It's not intuitive if you're supposed to help yourself to boxes for leftovers (we ended up doing so, they're stacked in the corner, where the there are extra napkins and plasticware). Their beer menu had many options although only a couple for those who like dark or ambers, but not quite stouts. There are three sizes: half pour, full pour, and too much, but no indication of actual ounces on the menu, which would have been helpful, especially if ordering doesn't occur with a waiter to ask! Over the years I've had a few Aslin Beers thanks to friends or bottle shares. Thankfully, I finally got to come and it was relatively unplanned. On a day I purposely set aside for breweries, we were finishing up at one when a few other friends let me know they could meet. Based on where everyone lived, Aslin Beer in Alexandria actually ended up being the move convenient and we had an amazing. Just getting to see a few friends and their kids made this probably my favorite stop of the whole trip. It was easy to find, in an economic park area with their white sign in contrast to the dark building. It was easy to find parking and head inside. The taproom area had high ceilings, same as the brew house which sat at the back behind internal windows. At the front was a separate merchandise shop and what I assume is a private party room. The bar was at the right. We had a big table toward the back, with a lot of other happy people. They don't do flights per se, but you could order short pours of anything so I tried a bunch. They also had a selection of cold cans and bottles for on-premises consumption which we also ended up sharing as the night wore on. We tried a variety of their - things like pretzels, pizza, and other things that go well with beer. It was also trivia night, which we played but I don't know how well we did! The bartenders were excellent, super patient with our group and made it easy to do separate tabs and buy each other drinks. Prices were reasonable for the quality. Also, thank you for doing a sticker swap with me - they had some funny ones! We ended up staying until last call and were the last to leave. I often get IPA'S and while I like them relatively well sometimes it's hard to distinguish one IPA from another even if it's from another brewery because the flavor profiles are often so similar. Aslin was a brewery though I've seen a round quite a bit but never really got around to trying until more recent times. I got their IPA, the Maneating Toaster which I really was interested in due to cinnamon and vanilla being featured in the flavor profile. I figured it would be unique. And it was unique and quite memorable. While the cinnamon and vanilla may sound weird it actually works quite well with this milkshake style IPA. The smooth, milky body is a nice feature to this beer too but I really have to give kudos to the brewery for making the flavors play off of each other so well. If you are into creative and experimental tasting beers then definitely try this IPA! Looking forward to exploring more with their other beers! read more

The smash blt and the pizza fry Cho's were good. The burger was cooked perfectly except for the bacon. I prefer the bacon to be more on the crispy side. The fries here are waffle fries which means they are the perfect amount of crispness. The pizza fries did not disappoint and definitely worth trying out. Located in an area with plenty of parking and indoor space, this Aslin location is a great spot to bring family and friends. I have not had a beer here that I did not like and I think that they have set the bar high with the variety of beer types that they offer. After trying quite a few beers between the Herndon and Alexandria locations, I would highly recommend their popular Volcano Sauce sour and any IPA from their Starfish line. All of the beers seem to be very well balanced and our friends and family love that they offer half pours in addition to fulls so you can try quite a few without over doing it. The pizza and food here is also top notch. Last time we were in, we decided to try the white pizza, topped with whole milk mozzarella, provolone, garlic, ricotta and calabrian peppers. My husband wanted to come here specifically to do their bourbon flight but was surprised the one online didn't match the one he got. Fair pricing for it though and he enjoyed the generous pours. We honestly felt out of place as one of the few groups who were there without kids. The place was swarming with children, kids birthdays, baby's running free. Not personally my type of atmosphere. Parking was very limited when we got here but I guess that's a busy Saturday for you. Solid 5 stars for Aslin Beer Company. They tick all the boxes when it comes to beer. They have great merchandise for sale and also roast and sell coffee under the Aslin name. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and will happily talk beer with you and answer any questions you may have. They will even let you sample everything if you want to. The atmosphere and vibe are great here. The place is huge and open. They have a bunch of tvs to watch sporting events and one giant screen with a projector as well. There is also an arcade and some table games. I wish I knew they served food before I visited because the menu looked fabulous and they cater to all dietary preferences. The Caesar salad with fried chicken I ordered was awful -- the chicken wasn't crunchy, had no flavor, and tasted like it came straight out of the freezer. Combine that with the fact that it's loud as hell inside, and the whole experience is miserable. I usually try to go somewhere at least twice before writing a review but this place deserves an instant rating! Great atmosphere from the moment we walked through the door. Friendly/helpful staff, great music playlist, and plentiful seating. They don't technically have flights but you can order up to four tasters (basically, you can make your own flight). We ordered tasters and a pizza. The beer was poured quickly and the pizza was brought to our table piping hot not too long after. Honestly, some of the best pizza I've had in a LONG time! We ate everything but one slice and that was warmed up and demolished the next day. Not all pizza tastes good the next day - this one was arguably better (like day old spaghetti). We're definitely going back soon. Highly recommend. Oh, and the best part for all my Pokemon Go people out there - there is a gym and a stop right there!!
