The tasting room.

If you happen to be a beer geek like my partner and I then this place should be on your list. They push the boundaries of what you even think about as beer with an amazing combination of lambics, sours, fruited stouts, kolsch - but none of them taste like what you think of when you think of beer.

A fun but unrelated sign. Don't get your hopes up for the sandwiches

Our first visit to Mieza certainly won't be our last. Alex was a great host (the owner, brew master, and bartender all in one). Our group showed up at opening and got to ask questions about the process and his thinking around the future of his blends/what he is looking forward to trying. He has a stock of bottles that have been aging from 2020 available to take home and his newer beers will be available in a few weeks. The draft list is tight but has a good variety of tastes. You'll be surprised in a good way by several of them and the list will change over time. Intimate space, good for conversations and enjoying delightful drafts

I love it here! My partner discovered Mieza Blendery a couple weeks ago and we decided to try it out since it's so close to where we live. We've been two times now and have nothing but great things to say. The employees are so friendly, and they remembered us on our second visit. We've tried almost all of the drinks they have on tap and haven't tasted one that we don't like yet. It's very cozy inside, and not too loud. We definitely will be regulars here!

Located in a business park, this unassuming storefront hides behind it a relaxing place for experiencing novel beverages with creative composition. Honestly, I've never been in a place quite like this. Note, this is not a place to get drunk. The fact that it closes so early should tell you that. But if you like pleasant conversation with friends as you sample very different adult beverages, and at a very reasonable price, this is your place. We stuck to the 4 ounce size, so we could try more things. I think this is the way to go. Shout out to the owner's dad, Jim, for his patient and kind explanation of the various options on the menu.

I really enjoyed it and would definitely try another one. They also have a shelf of board games, books, and playing cards if you're interested. Pet friendly. It looks like they also have a food truck (Thai) and occasional weekend comedy nights as well. Plenty of seating, couches, and friendly staff!

The staff was super friendly, and the overall vibe was laid-back and inviting. It's definitely a place meant for chilling with friends rather than catching a game. They do have a TV (maybe more than one, I didn't really notice), but the placement and size make it clear that this isn't a sports bar, and that's totally fine. It's more of a hangout venue with its own cool personality. Parking can be a pain, so plan for that ahead of time. That's probably the biggest frustration. As for the ciders, they weren't really for me, but that's just personal taste. I still had a great time, and I plan to return to try more ciders in hopes of finding one I like. It's definitely worth a visit for the atmosphere and the experience.

If you're in Alexandria and enjoy mussels, good beer, and sharing great food with friends, Augie's…read moreMussel House & Beer Garden absolutely deserves a visit. We discovered Augie's during our stay in Old Town Alexandria and ended up returning multiple times over three days, which says everything you need to know. There were simply too many interesting menu items to try in a single visit. The star of the show is obviously the mussels. During our visits we tried the Pesto, Tex-Mex, and Italian preparations, and every single one was outstanding. The mussels were consistently fresh, hot, flavorful, and served with plenty of broth for dipping the toasted bread. Each preparation had its own unique personality, making it hard to pick a favorite. We are already talking about coming back just to work our way through the rest of the mussel menu. The appetizers were equally impressive. We shared the steak and cheese egg rolls, pretzel bites with beer cheese, the Augie's sampler platter, and the famous "Nachos in a Bag." The nachos deserve special mention because the concept is absolutely brilliant. After a few drinks with friends, digging into a bag loaded with toppings is exactly the kind of fun comfort food that makes for a memorable night out. The sampler platter was another winner, offering a great variety of flavors, and the pretzel bites paired perfectly with the rich beer cheese. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and well prepared. Beyond the food, the service has been exceptional every time we've visited. The staff has been friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Whether we stopped in for a full meal or just appetizers and drinks, the experience was consistently excellent. The outdoor beer garden creates a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to linger and enjoy another round while sampling different dishes. Augie's has become one of our favorite finds in Alexandria. Great food, creative menu options, excellent service, and some of the best mussels we've had anywhere. We will absolutely be back the next time we're in town.

Also the food is surprisingly good for Old Town! The BAD: Generally speaking, the beer list leaves you wanting more.. especially for the crazy prices they are asking for.. BUT, as noted, they are about the only place in town to go have a bite to eat while watching a game. The UGLY: How do I say this bluntly - the service here generally sucks! There are exceptions but 90% of the time, you will sit at a table or at the bar for close to 10 minutes before anybody pays ANY attention to you. And then it is pulling teeth to actually place an order. However, they will pester the sh*t out of you to pay your bill and leave when they are busy.. don't know why I keep going back there

At first, you'll see what looks like just a pizza shop -- but if you head in and either use the side door or walk through and climb a set of stairs, you'll find the speakeasy upstairs. Very cool vibe: dark, cozy, and date-night ready. Drinks: 4/5 I ordered their take on an Old Fashioned, and it was definitely the highlight of the night but sweeter than I would have liked. They served it over a stamped solid block of ice (a small detail I ). My friend was abstaining from alcohol that night and asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail. To our surprise, they didn't just hand her a lemonade like most places -- they actually made her a crafted virgin drink, which she loved. Food: 3/5 We ordered fries and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The fries turned out to be waffle fries (not mentioned on the menu) and were overly crispy, so not really our favorite. The pizza was fine -- clearly sourced from the shop downstairs -- but it leaned oily and didn't really wow us. Service: 5/5 Pretty standard -- nothing over the top, but not neglectful either. Drinks came out reasonably fast, food followed, and we were checked on enough without it feeling pushy. Vibes: 4/5 The speakeasy itself is definitely the selling point. Dark, intimate, and stylish -- you feel like you've found a little hidden spot. All in all, the cocktails are the reason to come, especially if you're into whiskey. The food was forgettable, but it's convenient that you can order pizza upstairs. We spent about $30-40 for drinks and snacks, which isn't shocking for Old Town. Would I go back? Maybe if I was already in the area, but for a dedicated whiskey night, I'd probably head somewhere else.

I ordered the corned beef and cabbage on DoorDash, fully expecting the usual takeout roulette: soggy cabbage, tired meat, and a mild sense of regret. Instead? No knife, no effort--just fork, bite, and immediate life improvement. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked like someone back there has ancestral pride on the line. And the cabbage? Listen... cabbage is usually just there for emotional support. Not this time. This cabbage had purpose. This cabbage had ambition. By the end, I wasn't "finishing my meal"--I was chasing the last bites like I'd just spotted the end of a rainbow. Container: empty. Dignity: questionable. Satisfaction: unmatched.
