After I recently sold my other car and got a Honda Pilot, I needed a few repairs and decided to go back to Asmar's (as they previously did an engine steaming cleaning for me and they are about the only ones around who put it up on lift to do so). I'm really happy I did. They gave me a great price and did the repairs timely and efficiently. One thing I really like about them is that they keep you informed. Through getting the parts and scheduling the repairs, I always knew what was going on so no surprises! Chris and Little Ryan have been great to deal with. I took my Subaru Forester here two days ago because somebody at a 5-star rated repair shop near Convoy Street had told me that it was worth driving an hour each way to come here to have my engine cleaned. I had never had this done since getting my car in 2004 so it had been 14 years and everything under the hood was very dirty. A friend had told me that having the engine cleaned can cause vacuum hoses to break and create other problems but I decided to have this done anyway. I went with the bumper-to-bumper cleaning package with a 10% AAA membership discount which I thought was a good deal. They have a good facility and everybody was very nice and friendly. I had my bicycle with me and spent a couple of hours riding in Spring Valley, Lemon Grove and La Mesa. When I went back to pick up my car everything seemed fine so I just assumed that no vacuum hose was broken and did not even open the hood until the next day. It's nice to have a clean car with a clean engine again. read more

This place is upfront and honest, they don't try and trap you in any way, and I love the fact that they are Triple A approved (comes with a nice little discount.) Another fact is the owner is also your mechanic, you don't see that too often anymore. My favorite has to be that free ride home, comes in handy when you take your ride in for repairs. These guys are on the top of my Good Guy list. We bought a 20 yr old Class C RV without getting it inspected (our mistake) and noticed on the drive home that it may need to be looked at. We went to a couple of places and finally got referred to Asmar's Auto. Chris and Ryan took excellent care of us. They kept us informed, did the work quickly and cheaper than anywhere else we took it. Being with AAA, we also got a discount and the work has an awesome warranty. I am so happy with the work on my RV and the customer service that I received, that I just took my mom's Honda Element in for some much needed, what seems like, BIG work. Again, they beat Honda by more than half and are getting the work done within 24 hrs. It seems auto repair technicians and shops get stereotyped as shady and expensive, and it's never fun to spend money on parts for your car, but this place is affordable, friendly and fast. I give this shop five stars because of several reasons. I've taken both mine and my wifes vehicle there to have repairs done after being referred by a friend. The Manager Ryan Ogden handled everything promptly and kept us in the loop as to the status of our vehicles via phone calls. I never had to call them to ask for the status since he was always right on top of things. I have tried other shops in the past who all too frequently tell you that other items on your vehicle need to be replaced even when they really didn't. You won't experience that at Asmar's. Finally I want to comment on the quality of work done. Shops in the past have fixed our vehicles but a week or two later you end up back at the shop because something is wrong with the vehicle or the work wasn't performed and checked properly before they released the vehicle back to us. They do very high quality work, double check the work completed, test drive it to make sure there are no problems before they will release the vehicle back to you. Overall this is a GREAT shop and you will have a GREAT experience at reasonable prices. I almost forgot to mention that they offer a shuttle service as well. GREAT JOB ASMAR'S! read more

I just wanted to take a few minutes to share my amazing experience at Asmar's last week. My son and I scheduled an appointment to have an Acura RSX looked over it because we were considering purchasing it. We live in San Marcos, so it was a fairly long drive. We also had no idea who to take the car to for an inspection since we are unfamiliar with the area. Fortunately, I found Asmar's on the internet, read the reviews, and called for an appointment. When we arrived for our appointment, Jeff Stafford greeted us promptly. He warned us that it would take awhile because you do a thorough inspection (THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING WIFI!). We were not disappointed in the detailed information that Jeff provided us after the inspection. What really impressed me about Jeff was his attitude, which in my opinion, is critical if you want to have a successful business. I probably asked him to explain things ten times, and each time he patiently described it again in a new way to help me to understand! He was so nice and personable. You really lucked out in finding such an employee. Anyhow, we didn't end up purchasing the car, but the money we spent was well worth it. On the way home, even my son commented on how cool and nice Jeff was (he's seventeen, so this was pretty unusual)! I called them from LA because I wanted to test drive and potentially buy a 2007 Honda CR-V for sale in their neighborhood. They were helpful and friendly on the phone, and happily scheduled me for an appt. When I arrived with the car, they set me up with wi-fi in their waiting room and gave me a recommendation for a walkable lunch place. They did a thorough inspection and laid out all of their findings in print and verbally. Finally, they gave me their opinion (good car in good shape at a good price - buy it!) which gave me confidence to do the deal. I have taken my old Ford there twice. They have the best customer service, very honest as to what can and can't wait, and are very communicative as to the repair process. The shop is clean and well taken care of which I believe is an indication as to how they will take care of my car. I'm a new customer and I will be back. One of the few places I've found that will steam clean my engine. When the original mechanics supposedly fixed my oil leak and didn't really Asmar's offered me a discount to have it steamed again. The poor work of the shop that didn't repair the leak certainly wasn't their responsibility but they are stepping up to make sure my car still looks good. Thanks! i went to go install an alternator i already had the part which i had bought in autozone and they said they didnt install parts unless they bought them from where ever they order their parts so they gave me an estimate and it was over 400$ for the alternator and the installation . so i went next door to troys auto shop and they installed the alternator for 60$ . since i bought the part for 160 $ at autozone i saved over 180$ by going next door. it is a good shop but if ur in a budget then i dont recomend it . read more

Called to make an appointment and was scheduled to be seen at 1 pm. I showed up at noon as the tech told me to. The kid told me it would take approximately two hours to steam clean my engine. They kept my car for 4 hours while I waited their with no updates. Turns out they got my spark plugs wet and lost two out of the three screws to the lid that covers the spark plugs. I'm not sure why they felt the need to clean in there, when I was very clear that the car was leaking oil and all I wanted was a light cleaning so that my mechanic could see where the leak was coming from. The worst part about these guys is that they had the nerve to tell me that I was already missing two screws when I brought the car in and that my car was already stalling!!! WTH!!! what a lowlife move! I'm a 65 year old widowed woman who's had to deal with enough cars in my lifetime to know what the heck is wrong with my car before I take it in to a place! As if that wasn't bad enough they didn't even have the courtesy to close the hood when they rudely told me to move my car because they were closing. I paid for their crappy services and $80.00 to the tow company to tow my car to my mechanics. Never again will I set foot in this place. How this place got all this positive reviews is beyond me! read more
