Pretty useless. They gave me a quick appointment when my temporary crown came off (originally put in at an out of town dentists office). But a week later it popped off again, and they said I couldn't get an appointment for another month. My only option is to walk in every day and hope they had an opening. They said I had periodontal disease and needed a deep cleaning in addition to other work. I had an appointment for a check up several months ago that went well. I set an appointment for a cleaning, but they had to make it many months later due to shortage of hygenists. My appointment is next month, and on 1/12, I receive a text message that I need to contact them to reschedule it. I've called 3 times in the past two weeks and spoke with a less than friendly person (Berlin MD Office) each time. Every excuse in the book - someone will call me. I asked to speak with an office manager today and was told 'he's out sick'. I honestly didn't believe them anymore. Called Aspen Dental in need to put a cap back that fell off. I had the cap and from prior experience with my dentist back in NJ it would only take a couple of minutes to put it back. I was told by scheduling that walk ins were welcome. upon arrival at the Berlin office, I observed all the waiting room chairs were empty. The initial experience was good ,as I started a new insurance coverage I ask if they take the insurance and are you in- network and they said yes. They processed the claims out of- net work . I was scheduled to have more work done and they sent me a reminder of the visit at the same time they said they were no longer excepting in- net work insurance . Stay Away - Corporate Dentistry at Its Worst Came in with a cracked tooth. Aspen told me I needed a crown--no real explanation, no other options, just an expensive recommendation. I told them I was traveling and asked for my X-rays to be sent to my dentist back home. They emailed me a release form, which I completed and tried to return multiple times--but the email address they provided kept bouncing back. I triple-checked everything. The issue was clearly on their end, and they made no effort to fix it. When I finally saw my actual dentist (still without the Aspen X-rays they never managed to send), I learned the crack was minor--I only needed a simple filling. No crown. Aspen was ready to sell me an unnecessary, high-cost procedure and left me in pain for a full week. Aspen Dental is the definition of corporate greed posing as healthcare. I asked for a chair to sit in so my 6 year old and I didn't have to stand up and we were told we could go back in the lounge area and they didn't even allow us in the room but she wasn't going to enforce it. I have called the Berlin office everyday this week, I have left messages and I never get a returned call. I paid $5000.00 for dentures with the 7 year warrant. I got my permanent dentures in Oct 2022. I've been back for adjustments. My lower dentures have been rubbing on my gum and leaves it bleeding. Horrible, don't trust what they say. My husband was told his out of pocket expense for a procedure would be $400. which he paid. Then 9 months later, he received a bill from them for an additional $1200. after numerous phone calls to both the dental office and his insurance, he found out that Aspen Dental never confirmed the procedure with his dental plan via the insurance and he is now responsible for the entire amount. read more

Called about a simple extraction of an upper bicuspid that was already loose and needed to be extracted. Asked what they charge for this service and the receptionist said that they couldn't give an exact price without seeing me first (understandable), but that "it would be at least $1,000.00 for an extraction". I questioned this exorbitant price, and asked if she would check with someone else at the practice, since simple extractions are usually $100 - $200 at most dental offices. She stated that the oral surgeon is the only one who does the extractions there, and that he is only there once a month, so even if I wanted to schedule the visit, it wouldn't happen for a while. My husband went in with a toothache and walked out with a toothache. Xrays taken, discussion centered around thousands of dollars to do everything BUT treat the painful tooth. They said the tooth would need to be pulled and that they would call him to set up an appointment. No call ever came. My husband called multiple times and left messages, the only option. Aspen never called back. Never scheduled an appointment for the tooth to be pulled. Aspen Dental is a money trap. They have no interest in providing dental care unless you sign up for expensive treatment options. I would never go back to Aspen nor would I refer them to anyone. Any time Aspen Dental is mentioned in a conversation with other people they will say "Never go to them". Many negative stories are circulating about the care at Aspen Dental. Aspen Dental has a practice of requiring payment up front so you pay in advance of any services. However, trying to get a refund is difficult. They are quick to take the payment, but lax in making the refund. Supposedly, they only do it once a month for refunds, which is totally unacceptable. If you are looking for professionally-run dental practice, you should steer clear of Aspen Dental in Berlin, Maryland. For one, they do not perform a cleaning on an initial appointment. I have never been to a dentist who schedules examinations and cleanings on different visits. To me, this practice screams "we are milking your insurance company." If that business practice is not bad enough to make you steer clear of this dental office, they book people over your appointment. I was concerned that I had to book a second appointment to get a cleaning, but I did so only to learn on the day of the cleaning appointment, after confirming my appointment online and receiving a reminder text message reminding on the morning of and then driving the better part of an hour to the office, that I was not on their schedule. I showed them proof that I had made an appointment. However, the office manager insisted that I would have to make another appointment. I have never had to make another appointment when it was a medical practice's fault, they made an effort to fit me in. Instead, I drove close to 40 miles each way, wasted $10.00 worth of gas and two hours of my time. Yet, I still received no cleaning. Incompetence does not begin to describe how poorly this office is run. Unprofessional is a better way to describe the office staff. This is the absolute worst experience from a patient's perspective I have EVERY Had. Went here in beginning of March 2021 for annual check up and cleaning. My check up was finished and I was awaiting my cleaning and polishing. They sat me in a room for 30 minutes until they told me to come out and speak to the office manager. She informed me that they didn't have anyone to clean my teeth and made my appointment for August of 2022. Went today... they said they sent me an email and canceled my appointment because they had oral surgery. The office manager told me that I must have entered my email information wrong. News Flash .. We recently moved to this area and I just went there today to start things with this dentist and it was a complete disaster. I agree with the review I just saw. The young person upfront is terrible and completely incompetent. I told her months ago when I made the appointment to send me the forms so I could get the records sent to her. She never did anything about it so when I was brought in the first thing they wanted was x-rays. I told the person I had x-rays 8 months. She said well you just pay the $180 out of pocket for these then! Seriously? I wasted an hour of my time there. This is just a factory spitting out customers.
