This place is nothing but a money grabbing scam. I needed emergency work back In January and paid $5k for it. I'm back in July for a cleaning and they want to charge me $257.00. FOR A CLEANING. They said they could do it for $127 without the exam/flouride. Nice of them, right? Not so much--I don't need the exam after all of the work I had in January. So they basically want to charge $127 just to clean my teeth when that's supposed to be preventative. I told Nicole I didn't think that was right and she told me to have a great day. What a joke. Zero customer service---not to mention they never told me ahead of time so I just drove a half an hour for nothing. I should have listened to my gut and never tried to use them in the first place. What a nasty business they run. Absolutely disgusting. Also-- I double checked what a cleaning costs without insurance-- $125 and they wanted to charge me $257 WITH insurance. I am disabled and have a limited income. I did purchase private dental insurance though but, I was told by Aspen Dental that I would have to pay up front for my dental work and the insurance would reimburse me. My insurance told me they never heard of such a thing. They told me that they have to submit the estimate first and they pay after the work is done. I would not recommend them. I recently found out that there is a class action lawsuit against them for deceiving patients. read more

I had no preconceived notions about going to a chain like Aspen Dental and thought it might be nice to be able to get in right away to do some dental work. I sat down with the office manager and discussed financing options for getting 4 crowns down at a cost of $4,600. I assumed as this office does so many of them that I would be happy with the outcome. Boy was I wrong. The first sign of a problem was when the dental assistant was making the molds for my four front teeth while she was talking on the phone, (yes I know this sounds ludicrous imagine how I felt while being there?) First the Doctor shaved down my four front teeth to nubs and then the assistant came in to create the molds. On each of my teeth there was a corner gum hanging down and when she pushed the mold up she actually caught the corner of the flap of skin and bent it back to the point that the skin ripped and started to bleed profusely. Due to the rather sharp pain emanating from my mouth I asked her if she could get off the god dam phone and concentrate on what she was doing. She took offense to this shame on me for wanting the dental assistant working on my mouth NOT to be talking on the phone!! Now in anger she shoves the mold as hard as she can up into my gums and of course there is pain again. I ask her if the mold is going to now be too long as she pushed it up too far. She explains she is an expert at what she does and I shouldn't question her methods. I leave thinking that the mold is not going to fit and be too long only to wake up the next morning with a very swollen mouth from the skin being ripped by her. I go back the next day and see the Doctor who is horrified by what he sees and insists on giving me a prescription without actually writing out the prescription. He explains to me that it is bad for his practice when the assistant rips out peoples gum lines and he wants me to take the medicine directly form him and not fill a prescription. It takes about a week for the swelling to go away and now I go back to have my crowns installed hopefully not be the phone talking anger saddled assistant! To my luck I get the Doctor to install my crowns and guess what? They don't fit as they are too long. (I knew it!!!) The Doctor is trying everything to make them fit but because she pushed them up too far now they are too long for my mouth. Now the Doctor says I can try one thing that will work as it does every time. He then without warning shaves my bottom teeth down to make the upper teeth fit. Mind you I have never had a cavity or any type of an issue with my bottom teeth not once. Now without any notice they are getting shaved down to fix the mistake of the phone wielding dental assistant with anger issues. How special is that? Now going forward I start to have issues with my bottom teeth that were perfect and unblemished for the first 48 years of my life, not anymore. I guess when you shave the top down on teeth it opens them up to many further complications. Now I contact the dentist office and explain that I am not comfortable paying the balance to someone who has permanently altered my mouth my smile and my dental health. Aspen Dental now ignores my concerns tells me that their dentist is very qualified to fix the problem and for another $4,600 can do crowns on my bottom teeth. Yea I know, my bottom teeth were perfect before they started working on me. I never went back as my trust level with this dental mill was at an all time low. My opinion is that the dentist and the assistant at Aspen Dental should not be licensed to operate on anyone and they doing more harm than good. Eric S read more

The dentist has terrible bedside manner and I personally did not trust his expertise. I felt like I could not trust him with my teeth. If I were you I'd put more thought in finding a good dentist that actually cares about you and your teeth since you are paying a service and taking time off work to care for your health!!!!! read more

I went here during a desperate time when I really needed some sudden dental work and didn't have a lot of money. Luckily, Aspen Dental was there to provide poor dental work, misinformed customer service, and a terrible price. So hey, that's pretty sweet. I didn't have dental insurance and needed some pretty serious dental work (a root canal/crown), so they recommended I sign up for some dental benefit program they were hawking (called Careington or some such thing). So I did. The joke was on me, though, as the very thing they convinced me to sign up for didn't actually cover the dental work I needed. Nice. Very nice. On a side note, the dentist didn't really seem to have any idea what he was doing and had possibly never been inside a mouth before. read more

I am glad I didn't read some of these reviews prior to going to Aspen Dental because I would not have stepped inside the building. I can only surmise that the patients attitudes and basic negativity played a roll in their experiences. I found all of the staff I met starting with the receptionist cheerful , helpful and very informative about my plan of care. Everything was explained thoroughly by everyone with visuals of what they were talking about and concern that I understood the plan of care. I was very happy with the financial planner who was very friendly and made some very helpful suggestions about the timing of my dental work to make the most of my insurance benefits. I needed five teeth extracted which was done by on oral surgeon who is on site once a month. My teeth were extracted with high efficiency under local anesthesia (my choice) within a half hour. I have never had less pain and after effects after an extraction as I have had with this experience. The only reason I didn't go with five stars on this review is that I was prescribed a pain medication after my extractions that I am allergic to and which was noted on my chart. My pharmacist notified me of the error and the prescription wasn't filled but I was able to take plain Tylenol for slight soreness and that is all that was needed. I would not hesitate to recommend Aspen Dental to anyone. At least go for the consultation and decide for yourself . read more

Horrible bedside manners. The Dentist just didn't show interest in helping me with a tooth problem. When I went to ask the Dentist a question he cut me off in mid sentence and responded sarcastically. I get it that no one enjoys going to the dentist but at least they could do is be nice and understanding and he was not. read more

My experience here was so bad, traumatic and abusive that I had to involve their regional office and the Better Business Bureau. I am not even one of those people with a dentist phobia but this was one of the worst medical experiences I've had in my life. I was offered a $50 gift card and a letter that neither apologized nor admitted fault for my troubles. This place is every stereotype of a 'chain' version of any service. Zero stars should be an option. If you like your teeth, gums and sanity avoid at all costs. read more

SERIOUSLY ID GIVE THEM NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD!!! 100000% unprofessional!!!! From the moment I walked in I knew I should have turned around and left! Big open bull pen no privacy everyone can hear the comments the nurses and dentist are making about your teeth! You can turn to the side and see the patient across the way! HOW IS THAT HIPPA COMPLIANT? Then the dentist makes some unnecessary recommendations that's going to cost me 1000 out of pocket! (SCAM ARTISTS) I call back the next day to try and schedule a regular cleaning they say they'll call me back the next day! A WEEK LATER I AM CALLING THEM. *annoyed as anything now* I start to explain "how freaking annoyed this has me" & The VERY RUDE MAN AT THE FRONT DESK HUNG UP ON ME BECAUSE I SAID FREAKING? Telling me don't swear at him?! Last I checked FREAK is not a swear word but okay? I call back and they flat out refuse to give me a regular cleaning because they HAVE to follow the dentists recommendations. I SHOULD HAVE CONTROL OVER WHAT HAPPENS IN MY MOUTH. THANKS. "I am extremely frustrated with the lack of service my son received at the Aspen Dental located on Route 6 in Bristol. My son had several cavities that needed fillings. When I sat with the office manager to go over our insurance coverage and schedule the appointments, he did not take into account which teeth needed to be cared for first. He tried to get the most teeth filled that he could submit through my insurance; instead of addressing the one tooth with the most pain and the largest cavity. Since they would only fill one or two cavities per appointment it took several months to complete all of the smaller fillings. By the time they were done, the worst tooth had gotten so bad that it needed a root canal. But we were already at the yearly max that the insurance company would pay. Now I'm being told that I have to pay over $2,000 out of pocket for the root canal. They also billed me $431 for my portion of the cost when it should have only been $50. But I only found that out when I called to discuss the cost of the root canal. I have been trying to appeal this with the office manager and Aspen Dental Patient Services and they are less than responsive. I would not recommend Aspen Dental to anyone. They are obviously more concerned with collecting the insurance money than giving quality dental care." read more

My 83 year old mother went to Aspen Dental a few weeks ago to have her denture repaired as well as a routine cleaning. She has 10 bottom teeth left. She was told that they wouldn't be able to repair her dentures, because it would make them thicker and she wouldn't like it. They also did a full mouth xray that took almost 2 hours while the trainee figured out how to get the xray done right. Unnecessary!! The hygienist told her she needed to have deep periodontal cleaning because she had 2 teeth that had pockets that were deep as well as a filling needing to be replaced because it was "old". After walking out of this visit, Aspen Dental's "protocol" was to charge her up front for most of the charges which weren't covered by her insurance (almost $900) and they wanted her to pay "up front" for her work to be performed. She was bullied into writing a check at the time of this visit. She was so upset by all this and the expenses and not even getting the satisfaction of having her denture repaired, her children discussed this with her and she decided NOT to have ASPEN Dental perform any unnecessary work for her. She will not be going back to Aspen Dental EVER!! We put a stop payment on her check the following morning, but since Aspen Dental already deposited the check, they sent a bill for $40 to her. Talk about adding insult to injury!!! We would NEVER recommend anyone with a right mind going to Aspen Dental for ANYTHING EVERY!! I went here because it was close to home an seemed continent. I was able to get an appointment right away. My first appointment was for x-Ray and exam. That was fine but I noticed that the dentist looked in my mouth for a total of about 3-4 minutes. Long enought to tell me that my fillings needed to get replaced (not because anything is wrong with them, but because they are old). I had no new cavities so I guess they are just looking for a way to make more money. Next I was called into the office so the can give me a quote on how much all that would cost. Mind you all I wanted wasa cleaning that is required 2x a year from my insurance. Next the hygienist comes over to do her own exam and told me that 2 of my teeth needed "deep cleaning" I was bobarded before I new what was happening she was scraping my molers. Then I was told that my insurance won't cover that an a cleaning on the same day so I would have to come back.. WTF ALL I WANTED WAS A CLEANING! So I went back for my cleaning today. I've never in my 38years of life ever had a hygienist be so overly aggressive and invasive. She had my teeth scaped to the point where I thought she was damaging my teeth. Poked my gums so much that I was bleeding and flossed my teeth to the point where she caused pain. I had no new cavities, no gingavitis or plaque but it almost seems like they want to cause a problem so that you have to come back. I floss and brush twice daily and also have a water pik at home so I knew I shouldn't have any issues. I will never go back to this place. read more
