I had a broken implant tooth and the dentist fixed it. I also had fillings put in my front teeth that were not needed. I had a root canal and the dentist that performed that was very good but left a burr and I needed to go to my Husband's dentist to have him fix it. I loved Dr Barry but he is very expensive. Aspen finished the crown and there were no other problems. Since then I have had several dental reccomendations. read more

I had gone to this office because I had some major dental work in one of their NY offices and my mouth and teeth were hurting and the pain was radiating down my jaw. It turns out that I need a root canal. Of course the endodontist was out of network and they wanted over 5 thousand dollars and I had set the appointment up - that was my major mistake. My appointment for the root canal was October 2nd which I called three days later(September 19th) and cancelled. Turns out that Aspen Dental has already charged me for something that HASN'T happened yet. To me this is deceptive and fraudulent business practice to charge someone anything that hasn't happened yet. I will NEVER go back there again. Zero stars! As a new patient to Aspen Dental, I booked an 8am appointment online. When I arrived at 7:50 am, the door was locked & it was obvious that no one was at the office. I waited outside by the door (until 8:05) when a woman finally appeared from inside the office and unlocked the door... she didn't OPEN the door, she just unlocked the door and went back to her desk - there was no, "good morning, sorry we're running late", etc. when I told her my name and appt time, she said that they needed to reschedule my appointment. I asked why no one called me yesterday to reschedule?? Her response was, "I just got here." No one from Aspen Dental called to apologize or ask if I wanted to reschedule. RIP OFF ALERT!! Todays appointment was a joke. I was in town and wanted to benefit from the free cleaning that my insurance offers. Selected this office without reading the reviews. When I called at the first place I should have known that I was dealing with clowns. I asked them if I needed to bring the x-rays that my current dentist - who I love! - took last month, they told me not to bother. of course they asked to do their own X-rays (my current dentist just did them!!). what a waste of time and money, what a shame. And plus who wants to be x rayed that often?? The dentist then checks me up; she says all is good; as; and then the simple cleaning that I expected just like the one I did last month, transformed into a project costing $3000 with the use of antibiotics for a more complete cleaning. Came here back in June of this year for a cleaning. This was my first and only visit. Although I'm leaving a bad review I will say that the office staff was very polite and the wait was not long at all. The office is beautiful and, they tuned into one of my favorite shows "Fixer Upper" on HGTV. I wish I could list more positive things but unfortunately, this is where all of the "pros" end for me. After a short wait I'm led into the back and they took a gazillion x-rays (I mean seriously I've never had this many x-rays done on my teeth). I'm then led into an exam room where I waited over 40 mins for the doctor to come in. Yes that's right ladies and gentlemen, OVER 40 mins! The tech who took my x-rays came in and out the room I was in to get supplies, not once offering an update (or any communication for that matter). I finally asked another tech what the heck was going on and she apologized and said the doctor is coming soon (this was at the 20 min. mark). Just as I was about to walk out the doctor came in and informs me that the dental hygenist was at a statewide meeting and was not able to do my cleaning (the sole reason for my visit). Why didn't the receptionist tell me this or at least reschedule my appointment? No one knows smh! I'm then told to sit in another room to meet with the billing department. At this point I'm confused and annoyed! Billing for what, you didn't do anything?! I wait for another 10 mins and then left. Now heres the kicker, I receive a $12 bill from this office for the "exam" and x-rays. I call them and we proceed to play phone tag and I get a bunch of "someone will call you back" responses. Of course no one called. I took it upon myself to call my insurance and ask what exactly consists of an exam and did you cover the service. My insurance company was baffled that I received a bill and tried to reach the dentist but of course they had no luck either. So here we are in September, almost three months later and all I can say is "at least they took some pretty dope pics of my teeth, I guess." Moral of the story: I'm finding a new dentist! read more

Horrible experience. I scheduled with aspen for a tooth ache and wanted a simple extraction. I felt like I was on an assembly line. The assistant took me to the xray room then had me sit and wait. No questions, no idea what I had called for just get me fleeced and out of there. First the dentists starts pokeing arround my mouth without even Introducing herself. Then that dreadful highienist wanted to poke arround my gums to check for bone loss. I told her I din't come in for that. I wanted the tooth taken out. Simple extraction. The highenist (GATEKEEPER) Had my blood preassure taken and refused to take the tooth out. Charged me $163. Bucks and sent me home with a sore infected tooth. read more

the office staff was very nice. most of the dentist were also nice. I had a full mouth extraction and dentures made. Took several months to get my dentures during which time I saw 4 dentist. Not because that is how many were in the practice but because they quit/ were fired, I don't know. The dentist who pulled my teeth got tired half way through so I had to go back the next day. they had the worse time trying to get my dentures right. I feel they didn't listen or understand what I was saying was wrong with how the dentures felt. They felt and still feel too wide for my mouth. The bottoms forget it, no way do they fit. There was no explanation on how to care for them or how to keep them. Which by the way needed paste day I left with them. That last appointment I felt they were as fed up with me as I was of them. In the end I accepted the dentures and called it done. Never again. what a waste of my money! read more

My advice: steer clear of this place and go to a family dentist. I saw a family dentist for a cleaning, x-rays, and exam eight months ago with no problem spots detected. On Friday I went to Aspen Dental for an exam and x-Rays and they told me I need $1700 ($300 after insurance) worth of work done including a cavity, teeth scraping and a "gingival rinse." They refused to give me a regular cleaning unless I accepted these additional treatments. I got a second opinion today from an established dentist. Instead of the 2 minute consultation with the Aspen dentist, this dentist really listened and really looked at my x-rays. She told me I have no cavities and cleaned my teeth herself. The entire visit was covered by my insurance and I was in and out within forty minutes thanks to the efficiency of the office. There is no comparison. Aspen dental is designed to squeeze money out of your wallet and scare patients with fabricated dental work that needs to be done immediately. read more

The people were nice enough but the quality of care and attention spent on me during the visit was negligible. I came with a broken tooth and the attending dentist took about 10 minutes to chat and applied a temporary cover on the tooth to get me through the weekend (since it was a holiday). Within my brief visit I was quickly told that I would need a root canal. I will admit that while I was a bit surprised by the diagnosis I was a bit more unnerved (pun intended) by the brevity in which it was given. I will say that I did appreciate the fact that this place was able to fit me in on such late notice and right before the holidays. However I was not happy with the fact that the temporary cover fell off less than 2 hours after it's application. Granted, I followed directions to not eat or drink for the allotted amount of time while it "set" but for the time and effort I was pretty disappointed with the useless visit. The only reason I tried this place was to satisfy my in-network coverage. I'd say this place is the kind of dental practice you'd go if you don't mind playing Russian Roulette with the quality of care or cost for work. Be cautious. read more

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS DENTAL OFFICE. As the other reviews state, their billing practices are unethical. Only went there once and will never go again. I originally went to get a crown and provided them with my insurance, in that one appointment. I only got X-rays done for a possible crown, they didn't even do a cleaning. Thank gosh I ended up going with another dental office because I come to find out that there's something STILL in collection from this office after talking to someone in the office about it; they told me they would remove it from collection since I shouldn't have been charged in the first place. When I first saw that it was in collections, I spoke to my insurance right away. I know my dental insurance covers X-rays which is what they're claiming I owe. I'm baffled by their ethics and how they put an unnecessary financial burden on people (just read all the other reviews). I will never use or recommend this dental office to anyone, there are far better options in the area. What they're doing is fraud and they need to be apprehended for it. Let me start by saying the staff and doctors were super nice and they're doing their best. They're very sweet and they felt bad that they couldn't help me. That said, I'm really upset about my visit. I'm from out of town visiting my mother, and had a dental emergency: one of my teeth became abscessed in the night, I called and made a same day appointment because I have a dental emergency. My tooth is in severe pain and is turning grey because it's infected. After 2 hours of waiting, x rays, examination, and them trying to make appointments for m me that had nothing to do with my emergency. When it came to me asking them to please kill the nerve in my tooth because I was in pain, they explained to me that the root canal specialist was not in, and let me walk out with an abscessed tooth and a prescription for ibuprofen. So now I have to deal with an infected and severely painful tooth that they didn't treat until I got back to my dentists in NYC. I'm having trouble eating and sleeping cause of this tooth. I was really dependent on them helping me. I thought taking me for a "dental emergency" meant they could at least kill the nerve until I could get a root canal at a later time. I don't mean to be a Karen writing a negative review. I'm just in severe pain now and I feel it's not necessary that I need to be. I am going to start by saying, I wish I didn't even have to give it one star in order to post this review. I don't think this business deserves a single star. I have a veneer and apparently a crown. I have had a history of fixing my teeth because of an accident when I was a child that caused a major chip in my front tooth and almost ended in a root canal. I grind my teeth at night, and it gets severe when I am highly stressed. That being said, I woke up about a week ago grinding my teeth and felt my veneer pop off. Seeing as my dental insurance is not the best, I scheduled with Aspen thinking they would be cheaper in the simple act of bonding the veneer back on. I scheduled for 12:45pm on a Monday. I originally had that day off. The night before, I ended up taking a shift that Monday at 3:00pm due to some unorganized shift planning at work. I figured I could have them bond the veneer and still make it to work on time, despite having to head in the opposite direction, 45 minutes away. As I was a new patient with Aspen, I arrived at 12:30pm knowing I would have paperwork to fill out. They did not hand me any paperwork until 1:15pm, despite there only being two other people in the waiting room. At 1:30pm, I asked when the doctor would be available to see me, as it had been close to an hour and I hadn't even seen a hygienist or been acknowledged in any way. I work in customer service, so I was doing my best to be empathetic and not sound entitled, although I did explain I ended up taking a surprise shift soon. They told me multiple times it would be 5 more minutes. They finally took me back at 2:05pm. An hour and twenty minutes past my scheduled appointment. The hygienist took X-Rays, which I am convinced she had no experience doing, as she kept shoving the plate into my mouth where it did not fit and did not want to stay in place. Bt the time she was done, my entire mouth tasted of blood. She brought me to a room, where I again asked how long it would be to see the doctor, as I had work soon, and she said "soon." I had listed my medications on the form, and she demanded I disclose my mental health history for each medication. I have never once been asked to do this for a fucking dentist. Finally, I demanded I see the doctor. The doctor came in, did not even introduce herself, and immediately started lowering my chair. I said, "I have the veneer, would you like to see it so we can reattach it?" She said, "We are going to take impressions for a new crown, the veneer will not stick if put back on." I sat up and told her I did not want a crown, that I could not afford it at the moment, and that my previous doctor has had no trouble putting it back on. She kept trying to convince me to get a crown. At this point it is 2:20pm. I said, "This is ridiculous, I waited well over an hour for a procedure I made clear I specifically needed, and you haven't even LOOKED at my teeth once. You didn't even review the X-Rays. I have work in 40 minutes. I am leaving." To which the doctor called ME rude, and I walked out. There were no other patients whatsoever in any of the other rooms that I saw, and about nine other hygienists running around like chickens with their heads cut off. The customer service was awful, the staff was rude and unclear, the whole entire office is a scam. It's funny because I scheduled with my old doctor the next day, and they had absolutely no issues reviewing what caused the dilemma and offering suggestions as well as reattaching the veneer. Fuck Aspen, honestly. Garbage place. Update: I GOT AN EOB SAYING THEY SUBMITTED TO INSURANCE FOR AN ORAL EXAM THEY NEVER FUCKING DID. THEY NEVER LOOKED IN MY MOUTH, DID NOT EVEN REVIEW THE X-RAYS. WHAT KIND OF SCAM IS THIS. Upon further research they are in a lawsuit right now for fraud and malpractice. So I've been going to Aspen dental for years. Their service has gotten progressively worse over those years. I went in because my crown had broken and need to have it replaced. I was told that I had seven cavities and needed something called a cleaning with antibiotics that cost $1000 and was not covered by my insurance. When I said that I cannot afford that cleaning and ask them to please do a regular cleaning, I was denied. To me this is just extortion. They diagnosed you with one thing and they make you have to pay for that otherwise they don't provide any other cleaning service. I'm sorry but this is a still a consumer business and I thought the customer is always right with what they wanted. So needless to say after the crown was re-inserted that was my last time going to Aspen dental. If I could give zero stars I would. I went to aspen in desperate need of a root canal seeing that my regular dentist did not have availability for months and I was in severe pain. I made an appointment with aspen in which they told me I could get a root canal on site which was not the case whatsoever. I received X-rays of my teeth (without wanting that/being there for that at all), had someone check out my teeth (did not clean or anything at all because once again was not there for that at all), and waited 45 min for the on site root canal specialist to come in, look at my teeth and inform me I needed a root canal.....which I obviously already knew. I was then given the option to either wait 3 hours until the end of the day for her to work on my teeth and pay $3000 or leave and pay $200 without getting any actual services to my teeth. I obviously did not choose the $3000 option because I could tell they were obviously only trying to get my money. I left in tears, out of $200, and still in severe pain due to the uselessness, carelessness, and overall disrespectful services at aspen dental. Months later I then received a bill in the mail for $100 with no explanation or reasoning behind it besides a bill with what I paid last time and $100 added onto it for absolutely no reason. If u took the time to read this long winded review I hope you never step foot in the garbage pile, money hungry facilities that are aspen dental, they will not help you at all but charge you up the wazoo. read more

This review is for my experience with the oral surgeon. I had 2 of my wisdom teeth pulled 2 years ago by Dr. Gedeon. He had a great bed side manner and reassured me when I was starting to get anxious (first time being put under and first surgery). He let me know everything he was going to do before he did it. I was placed in a separate room to recover, he came in to see how I was doing and to tell me how things went. I was told to leave only once I felt ok. I received a call from him the next day checking up on my recovery. Unfortunately my second experience here was horrible. I came here last week to have my last 2 wisdom teeth removed. I had Dr. Nazeeh Abunasra this time. As soon as I sat down they put the IV in me with no talking, he came in and didn't even introduce himself and immediately knocked me out. As soon as I woke up the nurse came and ushered me out, I could barely walk! No recovery just get out of the office! He has horrible bed side manner and treated me like a number. After paying $1600 you'd think I'd at least get a few minutes to recover from the anesthesia. Both myself and my husband work in the medical field - we were both appalled with the treatment from Dr. Abunasra zero compassion or care! I could never imagine treating one of my patients like that! He's clearly a doctor that's in it solely for the money. If you want to go into surgery being treated like you're not a human being then I'd suggest going to him. I worked at Danbury office with a fill in dentist while the main dentist was "on leave ". She was very intense to work for and very confrontational. Her way of teaching was to belittle you if she didn't like your response and most times she was moody, lacked professionalism and respect for me around others. Other staff were good to me like the DAs, lab technician, hygienist, front desk people, PCPs. But the fill in dentist is clearly delusional if she thinks she is highly respected there. She uses fear and manipulation with some staff. I only spent two weeks there feeling mistreated and disrespected by the fill-in dentist to the point of stress and anxiety trying to be a good team member who clearly didn't have chance. Second time coming to Aspen dental in Danbury, no waiting time, everybody incredibly friendly and their prices aren't bad at all. The office manager Lisa is amazing! As someone afraid of dental work she made me feel incredibly comfortable and made a point to keep me laughing to keep my nerves. I went there this week for a cleaning and two fillings. The company is designed like a used car company. They know exactly the treatments you need to raise the bill for you and insurance. Example; needless types of cleanings and rinses that the recommend. Once it's recommended, they won't treat you unless you accept that specific treatment. However, there are two staff members out of the 5 that were outstanding and kept me from walking out. Cathleen the hygienist and Carlos the assistant. They were friendly and competent with the cleaning and xray and not all about the money. I respect that. I will not return. read more

I had an old, big filling on one of my back teeth. Been putting off going to the dentist for a while and was worried that the repair would be pretty serious. Dr. Carlig did a great job. I didn't feel her working on my tooth at all. The tooth ended up needing a pretty big fix but it's doing great now. I would definitely recommend Dr. Carlig to anyone who needs work done. read more

This office has become a complete scam. They tell EVERYONE including my 23 and 25 year olds who have seen a dentist every 6 months forever that they have gingivitis and need a deep cleaning for several hundred dollars, not covered by insurance. This is their automatic go to with every patient. If you say you only want the regular cleaning, they refuse to give you service at all. And they automatically add a toothbrush and toothpaste for $200 to your bill without asking. High pressure sales and bullying instead of medical care. It's disgraceful. They just lost my family of 5 patients because of what they pulled with my daughter yesterday. And I will be informing the insurance company as well as the BBB. read more

On 8/11/19, I broke a lower tooth off at the gum line.It was a Sunday, my normal dentist was unavailable for service or to make an appt. I found Aspen online, found that they accepted my insurance; they were able to make an appt the first thing in the a.m; w/out knowing if I could get into my regular dentist, I made the appt. I was taken in for a full mouth xray, understandable. I was seen by a hygienist, who performed another exam; understandable. After her exam, I was surprised to learn about 'extensive bone loss', along w/a recommendation to be treated right then w/antibiotics.Let me say that I have been going to a dentist 2 - 3 times per yr for cleaning/check ups to maintain bone/gum/tooth health.I am aware that there was loss but have never been told to the extent as advised by this hygienist. I questioned her as to why no one else ever mentioned this to me if it was so bad.She mumbled something that it was her job to make sure I was informed (as if I wasn't).I don't recollect her exact response, but I do recall being confused by her findings & then pressured by her. I said that I'd have to put it off until I knew the cost of the day's procedures along w/the cost of the antibiotics.I now completely believe I was being upcharged.Then, I was sent to the billing dept. I was told my services would total $9,538.00 & that my insurance wouldn't cover anything.Suddenly, & I KNOW as a result of my reaction (I have the feeling she was afraid I would walk away), the billing coordinator, quote unquote, 'double checked' & lo & behold was able to confirm that my insurance would actually cover $3000.00 of it. I paid the remaining $6538.00 at which point I was told I was PAID IN FULL.I was then taken in to begin the procedure.I shared my concern that my teeth look 'normal' when I left & was ASSURED that would be the case, even though it was only a temp.In fact I shared this concern w/the billing coordinator. She actually said "I guarantee you are going to love it".I have had temp teeth before, & know for a fact that that should be the case, & so had no reason to think otherwise.I was advised that the procedure would involve 6 teeth, & that I would receive a 6 unit bridge.The broken tooth had to be extracted & the other teeth ground down in prep for the bridge.It turned into a nearly 6 hr procedure.Once the prep was done, the dental asst prepared the mold for the temp & placed it in my mouth to cure.Either this young lady was new, didn't understand the material she was working with, or just didn't know what she was doing, because she left the mold in my mouth too long & it could not be removed, after numerous, & might I say very uncomfortable attempts.It had to be DRILLED off, & the procedure repeated.The actual dentist I had that day then provided the service for the mold & removed that one timely. After him shaping & reshaping the piece for a VERY long time, he finally placed it in my mouth, telling me the temp was 'just for aesthetics'. The asst told me the same thing.I had no idea why they would say that, until I got home & looked at the blob of material that was placed in my mouth, that I had to wear for weeks.I was extremely uncomfortable in the immediate days following the procedure & made an appt for that Thurs. to come back in for check up.I arrived early, only to be told there are no dentists on Thursdays; the receptionist couldn't tell me why they would have made an appt but that I could feel free to make another one.I left.When my perm bridge came in, I went to the office to have it placed in my mouth.I sat in the chair & the asst prepared to remove the piece. It would not come out. AGAIN. I had to sit through numerous & this time quite painful attempts at removing something from an already tender mouth.They pulled & tugged & maneuvered it, & then they actually started breaking pieces of it off, one at a time, w/a clamp, in my mouth.I finally said ENOUGH.I had to be numbed again to have it drilled off, by a very impatient dentist, I might add, as if she couldn't believe I was making such a big deal of out of it!! In addition, & needless to say, I expected that the same dentist who worked w/me to prepare my new bridge, would be the one who would actually make certain it fit nicely in my mouth.That was not the case.This other dentist came in, numbed my mouth & drilled the temp piece out. She picked up the permanent piece, literally stuck it in my mouth, told me to bite down a couple of times;she then told me if it didn't fit right I could come back & have it ground down, or polished down, & sent me on my way.Well, on the way out, it's required to stop at the reception area.I did.I inquired, & was told I was PAID IN FULL, for the 2nd time.To say this was a horrible experience or that I trust anything about Aspen would be an understatement.And now I get a bill for $1700.00! I hate that I have to give 1 star to send this review, they don't deserve it. I am joining the class action suit against them. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Last year I went for my cleaning and was handed a $400 bill. I said "excuse me I have insurance and I give dollar copay" I asked to go through the bill and they wanted to charge me for all these extra services and a very expensive toothbrush. I called to make my appointment this year and when I arrived they told me they don't do cleanings on Saturdays and that should have been communicated on the phone. So they told me I could have an exam and X-rays and come back at a later date to have my cleaning. This place is a racket, they nickel and dime you. read more

I went to Aspen as an emergency with an intense toothache from a broken tooth that had become infected. I waited for an hour past my appointment time and when I was finally taken in ,they took several xrays. I assumed that they would take a few of the problem tooth, but the tech didn't even ask which tooth was hurting. I stopped counting after 12 different xrays. The dentist came in finally ,only briefly looked in my mouth and said I needed to start antibiotics right away. She gave me a dose there and called in a prescription. I was then told I had to wait for the hygienist to "measure "my gums.I asked if we could do at a later appointment because I was swollen and in pain. I was told I had to do this. I waited another hour for her to finish with another patient, and was told I needed a $200 toothbrush and "special" toothpaste. Then I still wasn't allowed to leave.I was told that I had to wait for the office manager for my " treatment plan" I knew that I needed a root canal but was given a bill for over $11,000 worth of work. I said that I only wanted to handle the painful tooth right now and after she pushed me to open a credit card with them and I said no, the attitude changed. They then refused to make the appointment for the root canal until I paid 70% upfront ( 1475.00) This is after they had contacted my insurance and found out that they would pay 50% of it.I gave them a check but the next morning my entire face was red and swollen and I had a fever. When I called to report this, they just called in a different antibiotic and didn't even feel it necessary to see me. I ended up getting admitted to the hospital for a week on IV antibiotics for an infection that had spread through my entire face. I was told that a hygienist should not have been poking around an abscessed tooth and that it probably made things worse. I called to tell them I was hospitalized and they couldn't have cared less. The only reaction I got was when I wanted to cancel the root canal and asked about the $1475 check that they had already cashed. I was told that they wouldn't refund it because I had a pending insurance claim.When I asked how long that took I really didnt get an answer. I called my insurance company and found out that they put in claims for things I didnt have done including the $200 toothbrush. It should have been a red flag to me when as I was in the waiting room, 3 different people came in and were angrily asking to see the office manager and complaining about their bills that they were mailed. I know this review is lengthy but I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through what I did. read more

The technicians treated me nicely, but the Dentist is another story...... During a filling, she jabbed a steel implement into my lower gum area to block my tongue from interfereing with her filling procedure (ever hear of cotton?)...I was in pain, but she told me not to speak....until I couldn't take it anymore and said in no uncertain term YOU ARE HURTING ME...to which she said "I am a Dr." and left the room. I was given the choice of having a temporary filling put in and seeking a dentist elsewhere, or behaving and letting the Dr. finish the job...have you ever heard of such unprofessional conduct?...stay away from Danbury Asspen dental...be very afraid. read more
