I am really not the person who posts things like this…read more I worked in customer service for years. I have also been far too imperfect in my own life to make a habit of publicly dragging people. I wish this office understood how bad the last few months have had to be for me to sit down and write a Yelp review like this in the first place. And really, it goes back years. When I first got sober, Grassy Dental did the crowns across the front of my mouth. Those are the same teeth I have spent the last several months trying to repair. Then, on December 23, 2025, I had eight extractions through emergency dental care. Amazing way to spend Christmas. When I came here afterward, I had two requests. The biggest one was simple: please start dealing with my front teeth right away. I was already missing two of them. What I learned the hard way is that when the actual tooth or crown breaks off badly enough, you can't necessarily just walk into a dentist and have another crown put on. Depending on what is left, there can be additional procedures and months of healing involved before a permanent tooth can even be placed. In the meantime, you're wearing a partial denture. Yeah. It's as fun as it sounds. So when I said the front teeth were my priority, I wasn't asking because I was impatient about cosmetics. I knew what it meant to lose another one. Six months later, those teeth still had not been started. Then last Friday night, I was eating a mango and another tooth broke off. Right next to the missing front ones. A tooth this office had recently worked on. So I went into the office yesterday morning. It was chaotic. There were several people in and out of the room. My mother was with me, which admittedly added another layer of chaos all its own, and by that point I could practically feel the collective frequency of thank you and please get the fuck out vibrating through the building. The dentist who has been treating me for the last several months popped into the room briefly. Another younger dental professional was also there who, to my knowledge, had not worked on me before and was not familiar with the history of my case. At that point, I just wanted everybody to stop for a second. I said, essentially: Can we just pause? Before I leave here today, I would really like to make a plan. What do I need to do to get these three front teeth taken care of? That was it. I wasn't demanding that somebody magically manufacture three teeth before lunch. I wanted a plan. After months of appointments, procedures, healing, temporary fixes and now another broken front tooth, I wanted somebody to sit down with me for five minutes and tell me what happens next. That interaction is ultimately why I am writing this. I'm not writing this because I think one angry Yelp review is going to shut down a dental practice. I'm writing it because I hope somebody there reads it and understands what this experience has actually been like on the other side of the chair. I can only speak to my own experience. I am not a dentist. I am not a doctor. I cannot tell you whether any of the treatment I received was clinically negligent, and I'm not going to pretend that I can. I can tell you how I was treated. I felt like another appointment. Another reimbursement. Another person to get through the schedule. I did not leave feeling like getting things right mattered nearly as much as getting me through. I also personally witnessed interactions between the primary dentist and employees that I found aggressive, uncomfortable and unnecessary. I don't know everything happening behind the scenes. I know what I personally saw, and it did not make me feel particularly confident being the person in the chair. And if you are dealing with severe dental damage, especially if you are in recovery from addiction or alcoholism, please do your homework before choosing where you receive care. There is already enough shame attached to walking into a dentist with a mouth that tells pieces of your history before you ever get the chance to explain it. You are already vulnerable. You should not also have to wonder whether you are being rushed through because your insurance card says Medicaid. Ask questions. Get another opinion. Keep your records. Keep your treatment plans. And when something matters to you, make sure there is an actual plan for it before you leave. I wish I had done more of that sooner. I genuinely wish this office understood just how much it took for me to write this at all. I'm sure this review won't make much of a difference. But I have to try. Katherine Ervans

Next visit. i get seated in the room.my appt. was at 11 no one entered or got started on my teeth til 2-3 and did not finish til 4. i understand walk-ins. i understand being busy. but 2 movies while waiting for work is way too long. Still not to the worst part. the Dentists, as i will not call them doctors. 1: did not do the fittings or cleaning of the crowns after they were placed 2: dental cement was still stuck to the front of my teeth. not where it should be. cause 1 would have fixed that. 3: i had come back and expressed that there was discomfort on my incisors and that a crown has a gap on the backside. also that a front tooth had chipped. the dentist that came back to look at me didn't even look at the chipped tooth or look up from his computer. just said its not chipped. 4: i had to pay $100 out of pocket to a local dentist to get the tooth polished that was chipped. 5: i decided to work with the insurance and we had other dentists look at the incisors. final result from 3 dentists was that the crowns were not placed properly. and that they are unwilling to work on them due to not wanting to be liable, which is understandable. 6: no compassion. the female dentist sprayed my face with the air hose when i was having a panic attack. causing water on my face to fling into my eye. ive NEVER had a dentist do that. and most use safety glasses to prevent this 7:MEDICATION: do not trust the office staff when they say they sent your meds or they called the pharm. i was at the pharmacy when they said they called the pharm. the phone did not ring. if the office staff will lie. more than likely so will the doctor. with the work done i need a chloride/chlorine mouthwash, hexa-something. 4 times i called the office regarding it, 4 times my medications were not sent. my local dentist filled a script for the mouth wash and the hospital was able to script me for the amoxicillin. failure to provide medication for a surgery they did. that is not acceptable. the dentists at Deluxe dental in flint are unable to correctly do their job. evaluate properly what other dentists were able to do. i have done the right things, i have expressed my discomfort. the quality of the work to deluxe dental. all dentists in the location do not have compassion. and when i tried to explain i did not have time to do the other crowns this week. i was not able to leave until the dentist gave me a doctors note, "under the impression i was coming back" so i could leave the building. i felt trapped. there is nothing they can do to fix this as i will not let them near my mouth ever again. i have reached out. but their ability to perform work correctly the first time is low. compassion is low. wait times are high. also go check the other low reviews on yelp also. a lot of the same problems over and over. Update: 9/3/26 i got a call around 2-3 weeks ago saying i had a cleaning scheduled and i had missed appointments. i dont see deluxe dental anymore.i havent seen them since winter. ive NEVER scheduled a cleaning with them as i only went to them for emergency care my local dentist could not do. They couldn't even tell me who the surgeon was who performed the procedure! My dentist has to play detective to determine the details that should have been preserved.
