I went to Aspen Dental in Lakeland because I needed a front tooth repaired. Instead, I was told I needed a periodontal cleaning and a filling, and I was charged $850 upfront. My credit card was billed before I even had the cleaning done. What was confusing is that I have never been told by any previous dentist that I needed a periodontal cleaning. After my insurance was processed I learned that my expected out-of-pocket cost should have been around $350. This left me questioning why I was charged so much in advance and why the costs were not explained more clearly. My experience with the front desk employee, Mel, was also disappointing. I found her to be unprofessional and unhelpful when I tried to get clarification about the charges and insurance adjustments. I went in expecting to have a front tooth fixed, but instead left feeling pressured into additional treatment and frustrated by the billing process. had a wonderful experience at this dental office! The environment is very welcoming, clean, and professional. Everyone there is genuinely kind and caring. They really take the time to make you feel comfortable and well taken care of. What I really appreciated is that they speak Spanish, which made everything so much easier for my mom. She felt seen, acknowledged, and truly cared for. The staff made sure she was fully informed about everything, and she left the appointment with no questions or confusion. This is concerning the South Florida, Lakeland, FL location. The staff and patient care quality and experience is horrendous. They put me off for months after the grafting stage of an implant beyond the 4 months. Then, a young Asian oral surgeon (unfortunately, I did not get his name) put an implant in that turned out to be uncorrectably crooked - he had eyeballed placement rather than instrument-guided it. They put me off for months after until I found out why from another dental group. They will not right it. On a simpler procedure, they involved their entire team on fixing a small chip on my tooth, requiring full cleaning of all teeth, 3 X-rays, and insisting on anesthesia over 4 visits. The only things nice about this place is the ease of making an appointment online and the x-tay tech who was very friendly. The wait time was ridiculous, almost an hour wait past appointment time. Other than that, I felt judged and uncomfortable. The office manger was condescending and a bit rude. Was told my entire treatment plan would be over $10k with a mile long list of procedures that I had no clue needed to be done. I did choose to have one extraction done and as soon as I was done was basically shoved out the door and absolutely NO followup! This place is terrible! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I got a temporary piece made a few months ago, I waited a week to get it, fine no big deal. When I finally got it, it didn't fit, it did not match my teeth at all and it looks awful. They put some funky filler in to make it stay in place and it worked for awhile. However the whole teeth piece broke off and now they're telling me they can't fix it for ten days. You would think they'd have more compassion for their clients. I walked in on a Saturday because my tooth broke and I was in pain. Coming in right as they opened helped for sure and they were able to fit me in. With being my first time here, unfortunately my insurance wasn't open to verify benefits. I was offered a complimentary diagnostic to see what's going on so Monday the office can call my insurance to get pricing. I previously went to Coast Dental and I was just a paycheck to them. I wish I could give a negative five star because that's what this location deserves. Do Not Go Here if you value your time and hard-earned money because the South Lakeland, Florida Aspen manager Ashley, and regional manager Sara, and part owner Dr. Kristin Paisley doesn't value their customers and patients. Ashley has wasted my time which resulted in lost wages on three separate occasions with absolutely no remorse whatsoever, so much so that she has ignored my request for call back and has ignored my emails. The first time was when one of her associates called and emailed me to make an appointment, I confirmed both via email and phone call and showed up a few days later. Upon my arrival, I went up to the front desk to only be greeted with no appointment for that day. It was the correct time and date that the email confirmation said and when I showed the Aspen associate this, he shrugged his shoulders and said "yeah, we don't have you in for today so no clue why you were sent that email". I had to remind him that he himself called me and confirmed, that I had to take time off work which I don't get back and I lost wages that day. I work for myself so if I'm not at work I don't make any money AT ALL, pretty simple to understand, right? Needless to say, neither the man at the counter nor Ashley didn't offer me any type of customer service satisfaction in regard to their mess up. The second time was after they installed my bridge work, which is the whole reason I came here, and Dr. Kristin Paisley did a questionable job on that as it is. I was experiencing pain still in all of the anker spots and they wanted me to come in to see their Endodontist. I told Ashley and pretty much anyone else dealing with billing that if it's not In-Network then I don't want to even waste my time with it. Again, she has access to my insurance information, yet she still had me come in to see a specialist that was Out-of-Network unknowing to me at the time and this wasn't realized until right before he was going to operate on a tooth that now doesn't need a root canal. I stopped his consultation and I asked to make sure they were in-network before he began. To say I was upset would be an understatement, she again has wasted another day of mine, I've taken time off work for something that will result in nothing and instead of paying a $390 co-pay for root canal therapy, it would have been $1,400 bill. Once Ashley realized she messed up all she did was look at me with a half-smile and say "oh, sorry that you had to drive here for this." That's it, that's all she offered me after KNOWING previously to not waste my time because you are literally costing me income and my sanity at this point. I lost wages that day that have not been recovered. Third time was more recently after dealing with the pain from faulty bridge work and both Ashley and Sara called me on a three-way call to make an appointment with me. I specifically told them I do not want my time wasted again and that I don't want to come in just for another set of x-rays and for you to tell me there's nothing you can do anything. They BOTH assured me that wouldn't be the case and they BOTH would be there after the appointment with the Endo so we could sit down and come to a resolution. Well, I'm sure anyone can guess where this is going...Ashley was a no show and so was her manager that was on the phone. Ashley later gave a half excuse, but her manager Sara has yet to call and even care to give one why she wasn't there. Both didn't want to even call ahead to let me know that they Both wouldn't be there and that my entire day would be wasted. Ashley and Sara both have yet to call me or email to offer any type of customer satisfaction. I lost wages that day that have not be recovered. In fact, I have called Corp. multiple times trying to get a call back from Sara and she has Never even attempted to. Went to Aspen Dental on South Florida Ave. I wanted to schedule a root canal. They quoted me $1530. They ran my card. Then directed me to another desk so the could print the receipt. When I arrived there they informed me they do not know why but I would have to pay an additional $250. I canceled everything. They said they would need to file a credit with my card company. Aspen Dental S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland Florida - DO NOT GO THERE!! They provide really bad care and customer service is even worse. I had deep cleaning and after the cleaning my mouth bled for seven days. After the seven days, I finally got in to see someone and was told it was "nothing." The dentist refused to allow me to see the oral surgeon. I was then told "we were a bad fit" and refused to see me anymore. I paid $ 1407 in advance; I had the deep cleaning and two teeth filled. After the Deep cleaning and the bleeding mouth, I request a refund and received $316. which meant that I was charged $1091 the work performed. Tomake things more interesting, I received a bill for $191, which meant the total cost was $1282 for three visits and bad dental work. I believe I was charged for things I never received. One of the fillings is now loose. The corporate customer service refuses to discuss the complaint with me or my insurance. If you are looking for a dentist do NOT go to Aspen Dental. I am sure they will respond with "call me." After all this and refusing to talk to me they should call me! I am elderly and live on a fixed income and $1407 was hard to come by. Joannne Chapman had a terrible experience at at 3436 South Florida, Lakeland Started with your people trying to convince her that the first pair they showed her was the shade she picked. had to get the samples back out and there it was and wasn't what they were trying to pawn off on her. She said, she wanted to see the difference between the regular teeth to the upgrade. Was never showed the difference. Was just told she had the up grade, After several adjustments and finally giving up after she was getting sores on her gums and couldn't even wear her old teeth either. United Health Care has got their money back but Joanne has got her $ 1260 back after 3 weeks. So much for the 100% money back if you're not satisfied. We were lied to about every step we have been through and still haven't got our money we paid for an up grade but was never showed what an up grade was???? Now we see why your ratings are low. DON'T TRUST THE GOOGLE REVIEWS. THEY DELETED MY REVIEW, SO I HAD TO REPOST. I realize that COVID requires extra time to sanitize, but if so, I would have rather preferred that that be taken into consideration when scheduling my appointment. For a 2-minute X-ray and 5-minute exam, the Aspen Dental (Lakeland South location) wasted over 90 minutes of my time. Yes, you read that correctly. This visit didn't even include a dentist cleaning. The office desk assistants were helpful; however, the dental assistant, dental hygienist, and dentist were so cold, standoffish, and unwelcoming. For my visit at any dentist office, this was by far my WORST experience. To make matters worse, this was my very FIRST visit to any Aspen Dental location. And, guess what, first impressions mean everything. When I wanted advice from Dr. Hatch about my bite splint, he offered to disinfect it for me since it sat in its case unused for more than 2 years. BUT THEN, when I was reluctant to place the bite splint into my mouth with my dirty hands (which have the potential to give me COVID), I didn't have to look at his face to know that Dr. Hatch was rolling his eyes and clearly frustrated at me. So, already anxious from having to come into the office to being disrespected again and again, I took some hand sanitizer out of my purse and quickly sanitized my hands to prevent any more backlash. It was only after I placed the bite splint into my mouth for him to inspect that he apologized. Of course, this was a misunderstanding, but still, did he have to be so RUDE?! I was about to burst into tears right then and there for being judged from a health professional for just wanting to be cautious with my health and safety. In addition, in efforts to make small talk, Dr. Hatch also ridiculed my career choices. I can't say it more than enough, I will now and forever warn everyone to RUN away as far as they can in the opposite direction of Aspen Dental. In addition, why does this Aspen Dental (Lakeland South Florida location) have a BBB plaque hung up in their waiting room? (For anyone who's curious, it's located to the right of the TV.) About two years ago my old insurance went into snafu thanks to Obama and my tri-care was having issues getting to go through. Out of dire need to get some relief I went here. Very bad idea. BUYER BEWARE - ASPEN DENTAL - Specifically the South Florida location in Lakeland. DO NOT have any work done there. They will do everything and be incredible, until they get your money. Once they get your money, they will make every excuse in the world not to fix their inferior products and workmanship. I had a full upper denture made about a year ago, paid well over $2000.00 for it, supposedly the top of the line product, supposedly covered under warranty. The plate lost a tooth within 2 months of having it, I took it back to have it repaired only to be told I had to pay $118.00 for an examination before they could fix it. Examine what? I have a FULL upper denture. Last evening, while eating pasta, mind you, another tooth fell out of the denture, I took it back this morning to have it repaired only to be told the same thing, I am due for another $118.00 appointment before they can fix the denture.
