This is for the Leominster Mass. office. They advertise early/late appointments and weekend, emergencies by appointment. That is not the case. The earlies they open is 8:00 am and they close at 5:00pm, except Friday. They close @ 1:00 on Fridays and it takes an act of GOD to get a Saturday appointment and once you get it they call you to reschedule. You would think havbig "dry socket" after they pulled a tooth would warrant an emergency appointment, it didn't. I suffered for 8 days. Could barely open my mouth and was advised to take some Tylenol. Google said I should gently stretch my mouth or it could lead to permanent problems. I have also had them use Benzocaine on me to numb my gums. my chart clearly states I am severely allergic to this. I ended up having to be rushed to the emergency room at 5:00 am because of this. If I had swallowed any of it, my throat would have swollen and blocked my airway. I could have been killed. Got a huge bill that Aspen won't compensate me for. I still have to remind them to NOT use this gel on me. The worst part, is that there are other instances of poor customer service & excessive billing. Far too many to list here. Well, this is my second time of visiting Aspen Dental and I am convinced again that this is the worst network of clinics. First time i came to the one of the Aspen Dental office a year ago with a broken tooth and ask them to fix it. They did x-rays, cleaning, gave me a list of necessary work for $17,500. But did not fix my broken tooth and i fix it in another dental clinic for just a 5$ copay Year 2022. It was Saturday and i called to emergency dentist cause my primary dentist does not work on Sat and Sun but i have a toothache and my gum and lip are swollen (i think it is gumboil). Emergency dentist operator found a closest dental clinic which is open on Saturday and can take my insurance and this was Aspen Dental again. I remember my first and bad experience of visiting the office of Aspen Dental chain but i did not have a choice now because i can not endure the toothache until Monday. So i came to Aspen Dental office in Woburn and told them the problem. They did X-Rays of all of my jaw and gave me a list of "necessary" work for $17,000 again. I asked a doctor (Rajeev Panakanti), what about the gumboil? I ask him just make a drain in the tooth or lip to release a pus? He said he will give me a prescription for pain-relief medicine (Advil) and he will give me a referral so i have to make an appointment to another dentist and after these words he left. It means i have to endure the toothache until next week. Are you a doctor or just a referral person? Let me remind you, I came to Aspen Dental with emergency Even if you will die they will give you a recommendations for an expensive treatment and will tell you wait until next week and make an appointment to another doctor - that is only what Aspen Dental can do for you So, my second time of visiting Aspen Dental with a dental problem and second time they did not resolve it but gave only recommendations of "necessary" work for tens of thousands dollars. I went into Aspen dental for an emergency and care for my dental procedures. I was seen by Dr. Cunningham, assistant Laurie, and hygienist Richard, and then went for a second opinion after an astronomical price for my treatment plan. At the second opinion the dentist broke down for me the excessive treatments they had tagged on most of which I did not need. Aspen also signed me up for a payment plan which they have yet to refund for me after calling credit care who confirmed this is Aspen dental holding my $200 refund up and I am not able to transfer this plan to my current dentist because of this. Aspen is now holding up my treatment and care because I did not want them treating me. They are now messing with my health. I do not recommend anyone to go see these scam artists. Wish I could leave zero stars. My dentist and assistant were very nice. But he did not perform a successful job on my Invisalign . He promised results and then blamed it on teeth shape why my gap didn't close. Went to a different doctor and they made my teeth beautiful. Staff didn't return calls regarding this issue, so I was left no choice but to find a more professional place. Wasted thousands of dollars here. I was told I'd be given anti-anxiety Med before my extraction procedure so on the day of the exam they did not give me a prescription so I assumed I would be taking it that morning before the procedure when I went in for my procedure they told me no that's supposed to be done the night before and this morning when I said well why didn't anybody give me a prescription or explain that to me yesterday when I got my exam and I paid I just got a blank look. Also when you call it as a call center not necessarily the Aspen Dental in your area that you're contacting and their pricing was totally different although they gave me 20% off for cash pay and the exam is no cost I would definitely think they are inept in terms of communication with their patients I need to work on that immediately. read more

Wow! Incredible level of care from the start. My partner needed a tooth pulled and I started calling around to see who accepts his (very) basic dental insurance. After calling around the Boston/Cambridge/Somerville area and not hearing back or hearing that clinics did not accept his EPO, I was feeling discouraged. When I called Aspen Dental, the receptionist was warm and polite, confirmed that they accepted his insurance, and encouraged us to come in just a few hours, later that morning. My partner was in a lot of pain! And dental health can be scary for some folks due to fear of big bills or pain, and stigma around poor dental health. As soon as we walked in, the receptionists were welcoming and really positive about us being there. During his clinical visit, he says that every person he interacted with was understanding and kind, and never made him feel bad for not having come sooner. He felt good. Then it was time to talk finances with Judith Flores. She went over everything with us so patiently and thoroughly, and laid-out our options. Yes, we could have just taken care of the one tooth and be done with it. But it became clear quickly that this place wanted to see him get his mouth healthy and were going to make it financially feasible for him. We ended up leaving with a total plan of care and financing options that made it very doable for us. Judith rocks! I was willing to give this place a try, but when I called to reschedule and told them I just wanted a cleaning and not a deep scaling, they told me it doesn't work like that. Well I guess they don't want my business. This is my mouth and if I don't feel comfortable having extensive work done, then they should have accommodated my needs and not tell me it can't be done. I was warned by someone that all they care about is making the money, well I guess this person was right. I will never recommend them to anyone. When I 1st called before scheduling appointment I ask them if my insurance was in network with them (Ameritas) of course they told me yes. I even asked for a quote of the work I needed done they said they sent off the information to my insurance and told me the amount I would have to pay (printed off)... Imagine the horror on my face when I got billed over twice as much as expected and called my insurance company directly to be told they were never in network and their quote was bogus printed off their own computer.. Do not trust this dental office let alone Brandi. We're to start! I suffer from high anxiety and super anxious especially when it comes to going to the dentist... I was having a lot of tooth pain and my regular dentist was pressuring me do a root canal come to find out I didn't need one! I book an appointment as Aspen Dental for a second opinion.. of course I was super anxious but once I walked through the door the front desk staff was amazing and made feel comfortable! During my appointment the dental Assistant Lisa was amazing and went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable at every moment and if I need anything else Dr.P is amazing, professional and took his time to exam and figure out what exactly was the issue and find we're the pain in my tooth was coming from. He took the time to explain his opinion on we're he seemed the issue was and he assured me that a root canal was avoidable! Phewww I was relieved to hear that good news and just a crown on the tooth would solve the issue. When it came to checking out the office manager Renee was also amazing! She made me feel very comfortable while explaining the payment process and never pressured me todo anything and it was always what She could do or find ways that could help me! My experience was years ago and comparatively mild after reading others' outrageous experiences, but it still hits my outrage nerve at least 4 times a year. The first routine cleaning on a new insurance plan, I picked the closest office on the insurance list. When the finance office is the first place you are funneled to, you know something.s fishy!! There was some high pressure to sign some financial documents or I could not see the dentist. Discussion of financing options which I saw no need for since I was there for a cleaning and there is usually no charge for 2 cleanings a year on every insurance plan I have had. The hygienist tells me I need a "deep cleaning" which is $1500. Excuse me? Every dentist I.ve seen in the last 10 years tells me how nice my teeth are and how impressed they are with my dental health. Ok, I will think about the procedure. For today, let.s just do the regular cleaning. Oh no...that would be like throwing a coat of paint on a collapsing building.... (What the what?!)....we will not do inadequate work when you need a deep cleaning. I guess we.re done here. Oh before you go, we.ll take your xrays. I saw no reason for this since they were not treating me, but they assured me they would forward the xrays to the dentist I chose, so I went along with it. Now I see they are highly trained to squeeze every nickel they can out of the insurance company or any source for that matter. I left the office with a burning sense of injustice and outrage at the treatment I endured. Half a day of vacation time wasted and I still didn't have my teeth cleaned! They never did send my xrays when requested. I reported them to the insurance company to make sure they did not pay Aspen MENTAL for the cleaning and recommended they drop Aspen Dental as a provider. Robbing!! I serious wonder how they got their license! This scam started with making me set up two separate appointments. After a simple examination with some x-rays then I was brought to a room with a "finance advisor" then received a $9000 statement, so I asked if they can give me a break down of the services.. but then the lady was pretty annoyed and asked me to just sign and that's what everyone does!! Otherwise they won't set up my cleaning appointment..of course I didn't sign it and everyone from a friendly mode switched to a completely different atmosphere...but then the story didn't just end...two weeks later I received a bill that is $138 which include a some kind of examination that insurance does not cover..I've asked them 2 times when setting up the appointment to confirm this will be fully cover by insurance and they said YES and why the Fu*k am I getting a bill for?? read more

Every office is independently owned but they are a franchise. If an Aspen Dental office says you need major dental work - GET A SECOND OPINION. I was told I needed $7,000 worth of work on my gums due to implant issues. Another dentist said it was not necessary and prescribed a high level maintenance plan that cost nothing. Aspen also likes to add on things like fluoride to your cleaning (without asking). Most other offices will ask if you want it since it is usually not covered by insurance for adults. You cannot sign up the same day for an initial appointment and a cleaning. There is a 60% chance you will have to come back for both, as I was told by their staff. "40% likelihood that you can have both the same day." This doesn't work for people with busy schedules. I went to Aspen in Elkton MD for a routine cleaning and got an estimate for $2000. My teeth have always been good, I have 2 crowns over the years. They recommended a deep periodontal cleaning and a new crown due to some bacteria under the crown. Also charged me about $75 for a prescription mouthwash and tooth paste. Dentists usually do an inspection of the mouth for potential cysts as past of the exam. At Aspen, it is done by the hygienist who put an ultaviolet wand in you mouth for about 20 seconds and the charge was $50. My advice, got to a solo dental practice that is trusted in the community. I went in for a retreatment of an old root canal. They sat me down and told me that it was pre approved by my insurance company. A few weeks after the procedure I was informed that my insurance company would not pay because it was a re-treat. I got a $2000+ bill and told them to fight it. They tried twice and then informed me that they don't cover re-treats and I am responsible for the bill. They gave me a $1000 discount over the phone, but never sent me the new bill. Today I got a letter that I was referred to a collection agency. I paid the bill, but may have taken a different approach had I not been misinformed. I asked them to send me the pre-approval statement from the insurance company several times to no avail. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

Aspen Dental is the biggest SCAM I've ever seen! Walked in there for an abcess tooth. Told me was free ex rays and exam. Told me they were going to do a procedure on my gums. Then I asked price 1700.00! Told them no couldn't afford that. Every person immediately changed attitude. Had me wait in waiting room for 35 minutes. Lady comes out brings me into an office and proceeds to tell me I need 4 partial plates, root canals, build up 6 front teeth. I have the paperwork to prove it. I told the woman that was trying to get me to finance thousands of dollars, I got a bill for free first visit 234.00 because I would not be taken advantage of. They work like a dang play together. I went into their office THREE TIMES to get them to get rid of their mistake and bill me the correct amount, but month after month the same bill arrived. I talked to the business manager and she told me she called her manager and dropped the charges, but this month I got another bill for the SAME AMOUNT. Saw so many ads on television about how happy Aspen is to work with any insurance, etc. We have a Medicare Dental Plan, and Aspen was one of the approved providers. Happy enough with the dentists and hygienist, but watch out for the billing!! BE WARNED, Medicare patients - they are not friendly to work with. In the first place, Aspen required that I pay the entire amount up front, and "when the insurance pays, if you have overpaid, we will refund you." Having worked with medical insurance billing for 17 years, I know that Medicare approved fees are always less than what the charges are, so was unhappy about having to pay so much up front. In the field I worked in, and the state, we could not ask the patient for any money until the insurance had made the adjustment and paid their share. But I was told "that is not how it is done in this state" and the assurance was that it would be no problem getting any over payment returned to me. WRONG!! Upon receiving my Medicare EOB, and seeing that I had been over charged by several hundred dollars, I called to get my refund. Oh, yes, they had record of it - but were not going to refund it to me unless I actually called and asked for it. Instead, they were "holding" it on my Aspen account for any future work. (That will NOT happen.) Even had to get a Medicare customer representative on a 3-way call before Aspen would agree to relinquish the funds back to me. read more

I am writing this review because I think I have a moral obligations to let everybody know how badly Aspen dental is conducting their business. I was supposed to have crown work done. Office manager Renee Guerin said total cost would be $3500.00 after insurance pay and I am required to pay at least $2097.00 before crown work is done. I paid and a few days later before my first scaling appointment I canceled my crown work. Office worker Julie said I should come in for regular cleaning anyway. I went in for regular cleaning but later I got charged for scaling for $298.82 and they were holding $256.82 for second scaling. Even though I canceled whole crown work they charged me anyway for scaling without my knowledge. They never told me I have to pay $556.64. When I demanded my whole refund, dentist, Rajeev Panakanti dismissed me instead of apology. He said he would refund whole amount and told me don't come to his office anymore. HaHaHah, I was going to fire him as my dentist anyway. Very dishonest dentist and office manager. Watch out for their sneaky way to charge you without your knowledge. Later I found out they were going to charge me oral cancer screening without informing me for $30.00. Office manager doesn't tell you. Just include in your bill. She is more interested in increasing her sales. Very rotten unethical business practice. Came into the office to be sized and complete a bite registration for dentures. The Dentist saw and we discussed that I still had root tips/ broken teeth, however I was assured that I could wear my temporary dentures until all extractions were completed, so that this way I could get use to them. Within 48 hours of wearing my dentures I woke up with a swollen face and an absesss, I have since went to see another dentist whom placed me on a strict regimen of antibiotics, medicated mouth wash and Ibuprofen. The dentist stated that the standards of care provided was wrong and unfair to me as the patient. Due to the intense pain from the infection I have now missed 3 days of work along with the trust that aspen dental will not properly explain all risks and precautions that one should take. If my dentist would have simply explain to hold off and wait until all extractions were completed due to risk of serious infection I would have listened and appreciated her honesty, instead it seems she saw an oppurtunity to sell me top tier dentures and put my health at serious jeopardy along with not explaining risks or complications, I will not be going back for further treatment read more

Someone at the Garners Ferry Location took medication my daughter brought as prescribed by them and no one knows what was done with it. It was a steroid to help with the swelling and she really needed it because her mouth is extremely swollen from the extraction they did and looks like it might be infected. This procedure was done Monday, and her meds was taken then. Went back on Wednesday and they gave me the run around on what could have happened. they prescribed it again, went to pharmacy but of course because we already had that same prescription filled two days ago my insurance would not pay for it. I was told to pay for the meds OOP and I would be reimbursed for a gift card. I hope it isn't a gift card for Aspen! read more

If you don't have prefect teeth their'll tell you "you need extra deep cleaning" and it cost $248 so I went along it was the same cleaning I got at two other dentists the only different was the cost $100 more! All the good reviews are phony on here! I seen 3 different dentists in 6 months the first two were black young ladies very nice and professionals maybe a little short on experience but nice the 3rd one was also black a little older but very rude and a little racist she tried to humiliate me for not having great teeth I felt very uneasy. I was a easy target and white! I got a upper plate dentist #1 took first impression next visit #2 re center it relined it and didn't check the bite after they had me sign off on it? After making them changes she shouldn't of made them!! When they gave me my plate the dentist never came to check it out to see how it came out after the assistant gave it to me and told the dentist it was off center. Gotta agree with Ann... you sit in the chair for 15 minutes, and get seen for about 1 minute combined by three different dentists. This place is awful. They told me they could fill a cavity, couldn't do it TWICE, and then needed a root canal... came back... and they said I needed a crown lengthening after that... instead of telling me everything all at once.
