I started off with another dentist in my city, but was turned off by my first visit due to the fact that she handed me a list of things that we could do to my teeth with the cost totaling thousands of dollars after just examining them and to top it off I didn't even get a teeth cleaning. I took time off of work just to have a sit down conversation to discuss goals and watch videos on her iPad about new technology out there. Needless to say, that was my only visit. I am glad I found Burlington Dental. It can be a hike for me, but when you have a professional staff, amazing dental hygienist and caring dentist who actually takes the time to sit down, gets to know you, explains things to you and then ask if you have any questions, you don't mind the drive. Then weird things started happening. I got billed for work that wasn't performed, they tried to charge me for x-rays clearly covered by my insurance, doubled-down and said I owed them money when I insisted it was covered, and then claimed "they deal with so many insurance plans they can't keep all of them straight" when I finally pulled up the plan myself and showed them. My parents got hit with "lab fees" that their insurance company said should have never been charged under their contract with the dentist. Lots of other "billing errors" that. Once is a mistake, but something was off basically every visit. Oh! And you get a "billing fee" every time their office screws up, which is fun. If I were a conspiracist, I might say that the office is struggling and they're trying to sneak in extras that patients are unlikely to notice. However, it can also be explained by a few bad hiring choices for office administrators. When I left the practice, I called to get a copy of my x-rays for the new dentist. The office assistant sent a collection of THUMBNAILS of the x-rays. Like, tiny grainy pictures for the new dentist. They got angry and insisted that they couldn't get me any other format, and that the files were just really small when exported and that they had never had an issue with it before. After some heated back and forth, the office assistant described the menu she was seeing in the software, I suggested things she could try to export them, she finally exported the images individually as high-resolution jpgs and sent them to me. Seriously, they hired morons. My family and I have left the practice.

The office was closed, so I requested a call back for today. NO call back, so at about 4:45 today I called and got the recep/admin to discuss what insurance they accept and to determine whether the office might be a match for my wife and I. (Dental insurance can be tricky with percentages, deductibles, maximums, waiting periods, etc and I had several questions about various carriers.) The admin (who I won't name was pleasant enough, but at exactly 5pm (and I mean EXACTLY), she asked to put me on hold and I was disconnected 30 seconds later. I called back within seconds (not minutes), but the nightly voicemail had been activated and no one was picking up. If the disconnect had been an accident and the office doesn't have call back caller ID, I would have hoped she would have waited 60 seconds for MY callback and have picked up the call. If she then said it was closing time and had offered to call me back tomorrow, I would have certainly understood. This is disappointing and appears to be very unprofessional behavior. Maybe they are not fussy for new patients. However if the doctor is in fact seeking new patients, he might think about more vigorous training and accountability at the first point of contact, as he just lost two potential patients. For readers to properly assess this review: I've written a total of four Yelp reviews over the past few years. Three: 5 star reviews and one: 1 star review, so I'm not a chronic complainer. I called and the very nice staff got me an appt the very next day..Wednesday morning. Thanks to the great staff and especially Janice and Dr Cohen I was back to normal in about an hour. Front desk staff…read moresays they are helping but when the first thing you hear, and then hear multiple times, over the same rescheduling call, that they have a 48hour cancellation policy and will charge a $200 penalty, it makes you feel that they care more about the money than to provide an experience. . Understanding the issue first and patiently listening before bringing up penalty and late fees is what sets apart quality care. Interesting thing is that we left a message on Friday and Saturday and then someone from the office also called us to confirm cancelation and since I was driving she said to call back with a new time request (when I could access my calendar). However, when we called later, we were told they didn't have "any notes". And, asked for a name of the person who we spoke to. It is not our responsibility to know the name of the front desk staff we spoke to - it is understood that someone is making a note at their side. And, if the office staff is unsure, why not give the benefit of the doubt and if unsure, why not first check with your staff, your records, your voice note? Finally one staff member did confirm speaking with us but hadn't made a note. Could have done the due diligence first instead of reminding us that we are getting penalized? Also there's a dog in the clinic that freely roams around and barked...really don't feel comfortable with that.

This is for the Leominster Mass. office. They advertise early/late appointments and weekend,…read moreemergencies by appointment. That is not the case. The earlies they open is 8:00 am and they close at 5:00pm, except Friday. They close @ 1:00 on Fridays and it takes an act of GOD to get a Saturday appointment and once you get it they call you to reschedule. You would think havbig "dry socket" after they pulled a tooth would warrant an emergency appointment, it didn't. I suffered for 8 days. Could barely open my mouth and was advised to take some Tylenol. Google said I should gently stretch my mouth or it could lead to permanent problems. I have also had them use Benzocaine on me to numb my gums. my chart clearly states I am severely allergic to this. I ended up having to be rushed to the emergency room at 5:00 am because of this. If I had swallowed any of it, my throat would have swollen and blocked my airway. I could have been killed. Got a huge bill that Aspen won't compensate me for. I still have to remind them to NOT use this gel on me. The worst part, is that there are other instances of poor customer service & excessive billing. Far too many to list here. I think I have given them enough chances, time to find a new dentis.
