I really liked the service and the results of I received during my first visit. The front desk staff was very helpful and got me in the exam room almost immediately. I was able to see the doctor talk and ask a lot of questions and I really appreciated the service since I've had bad experiences in the past. I went to the nearest blood center to get my bloodwork done and had to come back to get the paper request because the order was not filled electronically. I awaited my results and received them within a few days and was advised on what to do next. Despite the reviews this place handled my pricing and answered and clarified all of my questions. I have heard it said that you don't know allergies until you live in Austin. For my son that turns out to be no joke! He has been struggling here, eyes weeping, dizzy, headaches, and just doesn't feel well more often then not. We have been through all the over the counter stuff with not nearly enough relief. We finally took him here just to see how bad his allergies actually are... turns out he is allergic to several different grasses, several different trees, cats, dogs and a whole boat of other things! Grasses being some of the worst. This location treated my 10 year old right. They got him in on time (truly remarkable in this day and age) explained everything to him, and did the tests. So now he is on the drops... slowly we are going to get him acclimated... it is a process but I feel good about it all after working with this group! Made an online request to schedule early September. And it's been phone tag ever since. They call while I'm at work and can't respond and everytime I call back, it either goes straight to voicemail or an endless loop. No one calls back. I had a good experience with the nurse and doctor here but the billing department is dreadful. It took 2+ months and multiple phone calls to get someone to get back to me. On multiple occasions they promised billing would call me back and never did. Finally billing informed me I wasn't covered for immunotherapy shots so I called my insurance and they said I was covered. Another 1.5 months of chasing down billing and still no one has called me back. Some days my allergies are pretty severe and meds don't quite help. Perhaps I should bite the bullet and start over elsewhere and get the treatment I need. I read multiple complaints about billing as well. I recommend hiring new people in that department to better assist your patients. read more

Staff is friendly but billing is trumped up. They give you three options: drops, weekly shots, or 2 shot option that knocks the allergies right out of you(for a significant cost difference). I chose weekly shots and they laid out the pricing for me. I should've just tried the 2 shot option because they've billed me 3-4x the amount quoted, plus charging me for visits I didn't schedule. They're still after me for a procedure that they charged me twice for that I've paid once. They did drop the charges for the days I didn't schedule. So nice of them. Stay away unless you're that desperate. The shots did seem to help a bit but I'm not going back. read more

Was told over the phone the visit was $50. When I showed up for my appointment they told me the cost was $848. It seems like they are trying to make it possible to say, 'we told you the visit would be $50' because when they broke down the price they said, '$500+ for the test, $200+ for the scope, and $50 for the visit.' It would be smart to tell people when they are scheduling an appointment that the VISIT is $50 but the tests are more expensive. Incredibly more expensive. Showed up with an expectation of cost and found out it would be about 17 times more expensive. Just be more transparent with your fees in the future. read more

I do not write negative reviews. I have been going here for 2 years to get allergy shots. There have been a number of mistakes in coordination and communication. Most recently I received my latest statement with $1000+ charge for a service by a doctor that I have never heard of and never seen. I have been trying for the last 48 hours to reach someone about the bill. Their billing office does not return calls and does not respond to requests to do so from either the patient nor the office. I was told yesterday that I would get a call from the receptionist at my branch office. She did not call me. I went back in today and she acted like she had "didn't you get my message". When I queried her further, she said I told them to call you in the email to billing. I can't say that the allergy shots have helped me a great deal. Needless to say I am looking for a new allergy office. read more

I have had some level of allergies forever. When growing up I did allergy shots until I finished HS. When I first moved to Austin, i changed environments enough that I was ok. After about ten years I developed allergic symptoms and was tested (skin test etc) but nothing ever showed. I've done blood tests too--still nothing but now my doctors were saying it was obvious I was allergic to something! Right now I'm on a medication that would make the skin tests invalid, and at Texan Allergy we briefly discussed doing a blood test again--and the fact that it still might not work (again). Very frustrating!! PA Sunny said Texan Allergy could make up drops (yes DROPS) that would be based on common allergens in this area, and what allergen groups (trees, mold, grasses, trust me there's more) my allergy shots had been based on. We are starting with that--when I'm able to do skin tests we will use that information to adjust my drop solution. Note: allergy drops are not covered by insurance (at this time they are not FDA approved, they are a compounded med compounded individually for each patient--I have several other compounded meds and fight w insurance all the time with this battle so...yep whatever! I'm ok). They have several payment plans, I am paying $140 for 90 day set of drops--some of my mail order meds are $75 for 90 days so The price was still fine. There are ways to break up the payments much smaller, or pay for an entire year all at once (then they cost the least per bottle). You pick up your first bottle in person, do the drops, and then they watch you for reactions, then you do them at home. Every 90 days a new bottle is nailed to you and TSA approved. One year from the date you got your first bottle of drops you go back, unless you experience difficulties. They have several locations; I was referred to them by the MD that oversees them (Dr Christopher Thompson) but I'm 99% sure you do not need to ever see him, as you will see a PA at each location. I found the staff at the RR location to be warm, helpful, and incredibly friendly. I know that definitely helped me decide what to do. Also before my appointment date, I spoke to a couple of different staff nurses on the phone--I had NO PROBLEMS reaching them which I found amazing (in comparison to a few other large medical practices in all types of fields). I'll continue to update as I move through my treatment but so far they have earned five stars with every call, visit, every interaction I have had! read more

I had a wonderful experience here. I have been suffering from itchy, watery, red allergy eye symptoms. I have tried so many over the counter medications, and I could not find relief. Finally, my sister told me about Texan Allergy, and spoke about the positive experience she has had. So today, I went and got allergy tested. The staff was very accommodating and made sure that you felt comfortable at all times. They did this by offering refreshments, Netflix and clear explanations of all processes. Been dealing with terribly allergies for years and last year I took my 6 year old son to get tested last year at another practice that was recommended by his pediatrician. The office visit was fine but I didn't think the results were accurate. I finally decided to get him retested and also get tested myself and went to see Dr. Overstreet. She has the kindest disposition and bedside manner I have ever experienced. The appointment never seemed rushed and she took her time to explain the process, the results and the different treatments without using tons of medical jargon. Overall the procedures with testing and shots are good here. And the PA, Sunny is pretty nice. However, my experiences with this company Texan Allergy in general suck. After being tested for allergies, I had the choice of weekly shots or daily drops. I went with the shots because my insurance covered them and it was more convenient. The company prefered that I pick only one location to visit which was fine by me. But then I found out that the locations were unable to be consistant with a weekly schedule. I started off at the Round Rock location.I was only able to get off early from my work to go for my shots on the same day every week. I chose Fridays to be my day off early.However, there were issues with this location being closed on Fridays here or there and then sometimes the required doctor would not be in. And apparently there must be a doctor present in case there any issues after my shots. Even though with this company I never saw a doctor. I only ever saw the PA and the MAs. I was missing my shots sometimes every other week. Which bothered me, because it affects how long your treatment will take. Treatment takes 3-5 years and I really wanted to feel my results sooner. So I switched to the Far West location. I was told that this location was better at having a doctor present and at being open reguarly. Nope. There was mix up with getting my treatment transferred and then there was a week where the doctor wasn't available, followed by another week where the doctor had to leave because another paitent of his/hers had an emergency. Basically, I've been going to the Far West location for a month and I have yet to actually get my shots. The most recent two times that I was unable to get my shots, I was offered the option to go back to the Round Rock location for my shots. In both situations, I was already in the Far West neighboorhood/location on a Friday afternoon. Going up north I35 (3pmish) and coming back south, on a Friday afternoon (4pm ish) is insane. The traffic is crazy. Anyways I opted not to drive to RR and back. Overall, I think this company must be having growing pains or something. They don't always have a doctor available. They are not always open at the same times on the same days. For a company that's only open regular business hours, they should at least keep the same weekly schedule. Also, I pretty sure the doctors they use have their own pratices on the side and are not really running this company. I'm left with the impression that the doctors are contracted individuals paid to sit the back room just in case something happens. While the PAs and MAs are the real workforce and face of this company. If you have a lot more freedom in your schedule than me, you would probably like this company. The folks are friendly enough and good at giving shots. If you have a 8-5 job, you're only able to get off at certain times, and you're going to get shots, I would say you may want to reconsider going to this company. read more

Following a severe allergy attack, I was stricken with bronchitis that took its sweet time to heal. Between the allergies and bronchitis, I struggled to breathe without wheezing, had a painfully annoying cough and was extremely fatigued. It was so miserable. After three weeks of no improvement, I called Texan Allergy to have my seasonal allergies checked. At first, I was hesitant to schedule an appointment with the physician's assistant but Alex reassured me that they were fully qualified and competent to handle allergy testing, diagnosis, and medication prescriptions. Anita was so sweet, personable and fun. She took my vitals and got started with the testing. Man! Allergy testing has come a long way over the years. Gone is the grid drawn on your back with individual scratches. Now, everything is streamlined to a fast and easy arm test with multiple testers at the same time. While the test was processing, Sunny came in and talked with me. She was thorough, sympathetic to my situation, and very knowledgeable in offering treatment. I decided on the allergy drops over the shots as treatment. With drops, you are given a three month supply to administer to yourself, three times a day, under your tongue. No weekly office visits. No shots. As you near your refill date, they will mail out the new drops... again, saving the trip in. Within two days of being on a new inhaler and nose spray, my bronchitis was completely gone. Finally some relief!! When I returned the following week to pick up my drops, I swear I wanted to hug Sunny. Everyone in the office was so great. It truly was such a pleasant experience. read more

If I could give these people a minus 5 stars I would. The staff is horrible, I never got the opportunity to see the doctors. I called to get the name of a physician that could add me as a patient so that my primary care physician could get a referral for me. No one would give me a doctor's name. The staff just keep telling me I needed a referral. I tried to explain that in order to get a referral, I needed the name of the doctor I was going to see....to no avail. So my primary care physician tried to get the information. She faxed the request in April. As of today, neither of us has heard from those morons. read more

The staff was so kind and professional by phone and in person. There were no surprises, as they confirmed benefits ahead of time for the environmental allergy testing. The PA, Sunny, was so thoughtful and really took every precaution (having a rescue inhaler on standby for my daughter who has asthma) just in case the testing caused her to have an attack (which it did not). We had a second appointment scheduled for food allergy testing, but after a detailed discussion of my daughter's issues, the PA determined testing was not necessary. I truly appreciated her not wasting our time or money on something that was not necessary. It was a definite sign that they care about their patients, not just $$$. Anyway, it was a great experience and I'd highly recommend them. read more

The 3 stars are for the doctors. If I were rating the office, it'd be 1 because they don't allow 0. I've been twice & neither time were they friendly or helpful. I don't care about friendly, if I'm that needy I'll get a dog. But on my 1st visit, they were clueless. I'd had phone conversations with a nurse prior to my visit about going off a med so I could get tested. When I went to my visit, people seemed surprised I was there. I had to explain 3 times to different people, yet the appointment had been for testing & they knew it per my calls with the nurse & that's what I'd made the appointment for. After that visit, I received a bill that was in error. Now, after my 2nd visit, I received a payment due for more co-pay, the way the statement was worded was confusing but the billing woman just kept parroting back to me that I hadn't paid enough, even when I told her for the 3rd time that I was questioning why the statement stated 'applied'. After the 3rd time I was aggravated because she wasn't actually answering my question & was told not to 'yell'. I wasn't yelling, but I'm sure my voice was raised. She put someone else on & they explained the wording in seconds. That's all I'd asked! I hate to switch, but the people behind the doctors can make or break a patient's experience & I'm not happy. read more

After 9 months on the drops I have been ill the entire time. This week I learned through my physician that the drops are only to help with symptoms and will not help you build up an immunity to the allergies. What a huge waste of money. He advised I go off immediately and see I feel better. I have spent over $300 in co-pays going to the doctor for severe ear infections that have all been related to the allergy drops. PLUS I am allergic to Glycerin. THEY determined I was highly allergic to Glycerin and advised me not to use lotions and products with it in it. Then they had to redo all the tests because I had such a reaction. The first batch of drops they gave me WAS glycerin based. It caused serious health flu like problems for three months. Once I figured out that they screwed up, they make it right with a saline base. Still been sick as a dog since. No more drops. My favorite part was when the PA asked to use a long metal tube to look up my nose. At the beginning of the appointment I stated as long as it is covered by my insurance you may do the procedure. Nope. I was billed $40 for her to look up there for exactly one second. The manager didn't care and said I authorized it. read more

We tested my 2 year old and he did so great and the staff made him feel very comfortable. Sunny is wonderful and we were very lucky to get her as our provider. My 3 year old has been on the drop for 10 months and these past few weeks with the oak pollen would have been horrible for him had he not been on the drops. Went in for testing and had a great experience. The staff here is very friendly and the facility is nice and clean. I saw Sunny here and so did my husband and she is great. She explains everything and helps you make an informed choice for treatment. When I made the appointment it was great I was called 3 days before my appointment and my insurance benefits were reviewed and I had a total for my appointment that would be due at the time of visit. Great experience! I now go in for shots off Balcones and the staff there is awesome as well. read more

Staff: from the recwptionist to Kelsey and Sunny-- everyone was amazingly patient, competent, thorough, and kind. My 10 year old went for testing, and they dealt with him beautifully. Sunny is a super calm and knowledgeable PA. Wait time: this is what sold me. Half the time from start to finish of another place I went. That is HUGE when you have an antsy child in tow. Ease if medication: very affordable and different options to fit every buget. So far, I am very happy. Add that it is less than 7 minutes from my house, and all the stars align.
